MURRAY, Marion Elizabeth (Mary Beth) - of Sarnia went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, February 9, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary Beth was a Pre-Kindergarten teacher with the Sarnia Aamjiwnaang First Nation for more than 30 years and a member of The Gathering Place Church. Beloved wife and best friend of the late John Murray. Loving mother of Katherine Dearlove (Randy) and Kristen Hoh (Tim). Proud Nana of Olivia Dearlove, Nicole Hoh, and Cameron Hoh. Beloved daughter of Jean and the late Phillip Messeroll. Dear sister of Jane Foulds (Dave). DALZIEL, Robert Robert Dalziel (Pop), originally from Glasgow, Scotland, passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice on February 10, 2008 at the age of 90 years. Robert is lovingly remembered by his twin daughters, Isabel (Tim) and Claire (Geoff); grandchildren, Aiden, Louise (Ken), Zoe and Gareth (Kim) and four beautiful great-grandchildren, Sophie, Dalziel, Kyler and Hallie. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews in Scotland. Robert is predeceased by his wife Jane and brothers Alex and John. McKENZIE, Florence "Hilda" August 28, 1912 - February 7, 2008 It is with sadness that the family of Florence Hilda McKenzie announce her peaceful passing at the Mayfair Care Centre. Hilda was born in Warton, England, and immigrated to Calgary, Canada with her husband and three young children in 1950. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling, reading, walking, knitting and needlepoint. MURPHY, Gerald Michael MURPHY, Gerald Michael - 56, Olathe, Kan., passed away Monday, January 28, 2008, at his home. Gerry was born June 9, 1951, in London, Ont., living in Olathe for 16 years. He was a graduate of St. Mary's University, Nova Scotia, with a degree in finance. Gerry was president and C.E.O. of U.S. Salt company in Overland Park, Kan. He was predeceased by his father, Michael Murphy, and mother, Joyce Murphy. He leaves his wife of 32 years, Sally; children, Jeremy, Ben (Kristen); grandson, Caeden, and brothers, Mike, Pat, Sean, Tim and Darren. HICKS, John Joseph HICKS, John Joseph - 51, Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2008, surrounded by his family, in the VG Site, QEII. He was a son of the late Edgar and Olive (Thibodeau) Hicks. John was a loving, devoted husband to wife, Deborah (Murphy) Hicks, and father to his daughter, Melissa, and son, Colin. John is survived by his sisters, Sharon, Lynn (Les) Dobie, Denise (Neil) Bellefontaine and Edythe (Barry) Derouin, as well as brothers, Eddie and Mark. His father and mother-in-law, Harold and Eva Murphy provided loving emotional support during this trying time. John was employed with Facilities Management, "Zone 3" at Dalhousie University for the last 35 years. John was a "Brother" in Local 968, International Union of Operating Engineers, where he held the positions of auditor, conductor and guard on the executive board of I.U.O.E. John will be remembered by the love and dedication he showed to the ones he cared about most in life, his family. He will also be remembered for his strong sense of values, and his belief system, which never faltered. He will be missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of family. The Hicks family's love and compassion goes out to the men and women of Zone 3 for all their love and support. BANKS, Robert Gordon BANKS, Robert Gordon - 66, Middleton, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was the son of late Harold and Gladys (Bowlby) Banks. In early years, Bob was employed with and later owned and operated Middleton Dry Cleaners and Launderers. Bob's life was focused around music as well as helping inspire other people to enrich their lives in various ways. He travelled to numerous communities playing with the musical groups Annapolis East String Band, Old Country, and Three Old Friends. Bob was an active member of the Emmanuel Congregational Christian Church. He is survived by his wife the former, Patricia "Pat" Hardwick; daughter, Gisele (Jerry) MacDonald, Amherst; grandchildren, Samantha and Raymond, and their father, Richard Banks, North Williamston. Born in Elmsdale, he was a son of the late Gordon and Florence (Wright) Casey. Russell worked most of his life for Nova Scotia Light and Power. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan (Connors); son, Ross, Dartmouth, and two sisters and two brothers. He was predeceased by son, Michael. CRANDALL, Marion Maie CRANDALL, Marion Maie - Formerly of Saint John, N.B., and Kentville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 12, 2008, in Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility, Halifax. Born in Vernon Mines, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Everett and Cora (Huntley) Crandall. She attended school in Mountain Front, Kings Co., and was employed with Wades Grocery in Kentville. She attended Mack Business College, Kentville, and following her graduation she moved to Moncton, N.B., where she was employed with T. Eaton Company and Confederation Life Insurance. In the early 1970's she moved to Saint John, N.B., and continued her employment with Confederation Life. She was later employed with Manpower in Saint John from where she retired in 1990. She was a member of the former Central Baptist Church and also attended Main Street Baptist, both in Saint John. Marion was a kind and charitable person, willing to help anyone in need of assistance. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, skating, reading and walking. She is survived by sisters, Myrtis Bennett, Kentville, and Joan Crandall, Halifax; brother-in-law, Art Lockwood, Kentville; nieces, Peggy Ricketts and Susan Collicutt; nephews, Larry and Gerald Bennett; aunts, Viola Metzler and Harriett Foster; several cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Betty (Cassidy) Lockwood. There will be no visitation by family request. SMITH, Aubrey - In loving memory of Aubrey Smith, 72 years. Beloved husband, dear companion and lifelong friend of Joan. Beloved father of Grant (wife Pat) of Woodbridge, and cherished grandfather of Shelley, passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 8th, 2008. He will be dearly missed by his family-stepfather Gordon Grills of Little Britain; Judith (husband Bob) Marquis of Newmarket; Margaret Harrison (partner Ken Smith) of Oakville; nephew and nieces, Paul, Robyn, Heather and Brittany; his Aunt Doris Stewart of Beaverton; and many cousins. He formed many life-long friendships by whom he will be lovingly remembered. Aubrey spent his working life in Education, beginning teaching in a one-room school in Orillia in 1958 and retiring from the Ministry of Education as a Supervisory Officer. While working he earned a PhD in Education, was for many years Principal of the Toronto Teachers Summer School for Special Education, was a past President of Province of Ontario's Education Officials Association (P.O.E.O.A.), and was a charter member of Teacher's Lions. He had a passion for children and it showed. Aubrey loved nature and spent as much time out in it as he could. He always kept hounds and enjoyed running with them. He fished every spring, hunted every fall and went cottaging/camping year round. Many fond memories and warm friendships were forged through these interests. Grant shared a number of his adventures, some became organized annual events. Aubrey has asked for cremation. A visitation will be held at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 33 Larch St., Sudbury, 2pm to 4pm and after 7pm. with a celebration of his life scheduled for 8:30pm on Wednesday, February 13th, 2008.
