HAINES, Paul Michael - Tragically in Brantford on Thursday, January 31st, at the age of 41. Dearly loved brother of Susan Haines (Martin Cowie) and adored uncle of Alexis Cowie. Son of Dale (Jim) Speck and Harold E. Haines. Brother of Lisa Boyd (Norm) and David Haines. Father of Paul Jr., Nicholas and Samantha Haines. CROWDER, Muriel Alison (nee Butterfield) March 2, 1913 - February 3, 2008 Muriel Alison Crowder passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 at her home at the Beverly Care Centre in Calgary at the age of 94 years. Muriel Alison Crowder was the youngest of five children of Margaret and Frank Butterfield of Maymont, SK. She grew up on the farm where everyone worked hard to farm the land and make a living for the family. At an early age it became apparent that she had considerable musical talent, and she was able to study music for many years. In 1933 she was presented with her music degree, Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music for which she worked very hard. She attended Normal School in Saskatoon, and became a teacher. She taught in small towns in Saskatchewan where the schools were often one or two rooms, with many grades to each room. It was in 1942 that she met Robert Crowder, the new Minister at the Anglican Church in Maymont, and fell in love, and married in August 1943. They started a life together as the minister, and the musician. Muriel was able to play the organ at many of the church services throughout the various parishes at which Robert was placed. In rural Saskatchewan, it was a great advantage and joy for the two of them to work together. Muriel worked hard to keep up with her music, and after the two children, Louise and Gordon, were a little older, she went back to teaching school full time, gave private music lessons to many young people over the years, and took great pleasure at becoming an artist. She was also dedicated to the Church, and she joined many women's groups to support and build the church community and spread its messages. As she grew older she continued with her music, playing and helping at many nursing homes in Calgary. For over twenty-five years Muriel was a volunteer with the Calgary hospitals, first at the General Hospital and then with the Rockyview General Hospital. Both she and Robert volunteered at the Rockyview General Hospital for many years together. She started in the Gift Shop, and graduated to taking care of the many plants in patient wards. Muriel was known to all as a dear, gracious, lovely lady, with a genuine interest in all those she met. She gave all of herself to her husband, her family, her music and to the Church. She will be remembered by us all and especially by her family who loved her dearly. Muriel is survived by her daughter Louise Clarke and son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Allison Crowder, her four grandchildren, Jacquie, Chad, Jennifer, and Brian, and four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Alan, and Harley. Muriel is also survived by one brother Robert Butterfield, of Ontario, age ninety-five years, and by many nieces and nephews. She lost her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Archdeacon Robert B. Crowder, in April 2007. KINDT, Faye 1934 - 2008 With broken hearts, the family of Frances Faye Kindt (nee McPeak), beloved wife of Jim Kindt of Nanton, announce her passing after unexpected cardiac complications on January 30, 2008 at the age of 73 years. Faye was born in High River, Alberta on September 7, 1934 and took most of her schooling in Parkland, Alberta. She married Jim on July 16, 1953 and they spent the majority of their married life in the Nanton area working on their grain and cattle farming operation. In the winter months they enjoyed being Alberta snowbirds at their Arizona home. Family was everything to Faye and Jim and she is survived by her husband Jim, as well as her son Reece Kindt (Colleen) and her daughters Nora Perceval (Don), Joanne Velting (Gerrie) and Glenys Bakker (Adrian) along with nine grandchildren, and predeceased by one grandchild. To the very end, Faye embraced and enjoyed life, and she was a very beautiful and generous woman of many talents. She was quick to provide her support, often before you even had to ask. She was our loving guide and her presence will be forever missed. Funeral Services will be held at the Nanton Baptist Church on February 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with a short luncheon to follow afterwards. VERBOOM, Harm "Henry" It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Harm "Henry" Verboom at the age of 77 years. Henry emigrated from Utrecht the Netherlands with his brother John to Canada in 1954. He became a refractory mason and worked in the Oil and Gas industry where he was well known. Henry played the piano and organ and used these talents at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Calgary. Henry will be greatly missed by his wife of twenty-seven years Elodie; brothers Henk, Erich; sisters Lida of the Netherlands and Edda of Australia and brother John (Cecylia) of Edmonton; five stepdaughters; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Christiaan and mother Martha. KERR, Charles Montague "Monty" Veteran WWII - R.C.A.F. 1925 - 2008 Peacefully, at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on Sunday, February 3rd, 2008 at the age of 82. Loving father of Michael and Graeme of Scotland, and Alasdair (Karen) and proud grandfather of Alexander and William of Guelph, Ontario. He is survived by his sisters, Eleanor Ross, Gwen Hayes (Charles), Maureen Pinsonneault and brother Brian (Colleen) Kerr. Monty was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Kerr and Marian Boland, as well as his sister Edna, brothers Gorman and Ainslie and close friend Betty MacFeeley. He is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Monty was a proud member of the R.C.A.F. Returning from War, he graduated from St. F.X. University and had a distinguished career in the Public Service serving in England, Brazil, Japan, Malawi and Mauritius as well as contract work in Canada with C.I.D.A. Many thanks to Dr. Bloom, the nurses and staff on Rideau 1 South Wing and the Creative Arts Division of the Perley Rideau for their extraordinary kindness and tender care. CAMERON, Marjorie Emily (Walker). At St. Mary's Hospital on February 2, 2008, in her ninety-fifth year. Survived by her son Alex (Mary) of Pittsford, New York, loving grandchildren Andrew, Katherine (Luke Martin), and Christopher, sister-in-law Ann Walker, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Alexander Wilkinson Cameron, parents John Riddell Walker and Fanny Matilda Woodland, brothers and sister John, James, Olive, William (infant) and William. Marjorie was a fifty-four year resident of the Town of Mount Royal and a faithful member of St. Peter's Anglican Church. A devout volunteer to community and church, Marjorie received the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award in 2001 "in recognition of her outstanding and selfless contribution to her community and Canada." The family would like to thank the nursing staff, caregivers, and volunteers at the Griffith McConnell Residence for the loving care they provide. ALLAIRE, Armand - 1942-2008 À St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, le 1er février 2008, à l'âge de 65 ans, est décédé M. Armand Allaire, agent immobilier du Groupe Sutton-Avantage et fils de feu Noël Allaire et de feu Juliette Boulanger, demeurant à Granby. Il laisse dans le deuil son frère, Gérald Allaire (Micheline Bouvier), ses soeurs: Gaétane Allaire, Murielle Allaire, Monique Allaire (Claude Bélanger), ses neveux et nièces : André Lagloire, Julie Lagloire, Benoit Allaire, Stéphane Bélanger (Sophie Rodrigue), Louis Allaire, Josée Bélanger (Martin Brodeur), Andrée Allaire et leurs enfants ainsi que d'autres parents et amis. La crémation a eu lieu au Crématorium Le Sieur. Les funérailles auront lieu le vendredi 15 février 2008. CLARKE, Michael Frederick (1960 - 2008) At home on February 2nd, 2008 in his 47th year, beloved soul mate of Angie Splane of Rupert, QC., son of Alex (Claudette Plante) and Rita (Ron Noseworthy), big brother to Arthur (Pamela), Denis and Peter (Lise). He will be greatly missed by his extended family Ralph and Darlyn, Alison, and Ralph Jr. (Shannon) Splane. Michael was a dedicated and valued employee of Ritchie Feed and Seed for 22 years. MURPHY, MICHAEL DANIEL - The death of Michael Daniel Murphy of Hampton, husband of Catherine (O'Connell) Murphy occurred unexpectedly February 3, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Rexton in 1950, son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Markey) Murphy. Mike lived Fredericton area from 1959 - 1972 and Saint John 1972 - 1976 before moving to Hampton. He worked at Medjucks Furniture 1965-1977, Co-op 1977-1999 and Re/Max 1999-Present where he received numerous awards. Mike was currently the Deputy Mayor of the Town of Hampton and served on various town committees over the past number of years. He was a director with Help the Cops Help the Kids Minor Sports Benefit and coached the Hampton RCMP team for several years. He also coached the Hampton Indians Oldtimers Hockey Team and was instrumental in forming the Hampton Moosehead Junior Oldtimers Hockey League. Charter member of the Rotary Club of Hampton. Mike enjoyed his early morning coffee at Kozy Korner Restaurant and Holly's. He was an avid card player and enjoyed snowmobiling. FERGUSON, SHARON MARGARET Sharon Margaret Ferguson of Hanwell, NB. passed away at her home on February 1, 2008 after a long illness. Born in Fredericton, she was the daughter of Barbara (LaPointe) Blunston and the late Charles Blunston, and wife of Frederick H. Ferguson. Fredericton will remember Sharon as the Co-director of the Fredericton Food Bank. Over the years, she helped many people in our city through a difficult time by providing access to clothing, food and above all else, a non-judgmental shoulder to lean on. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fredericton and took part in many of their community programs. She is survived by her husband, Frederick H. Ferguson; and her mother, Barbara E. Blunston; her children, Susan Steen, Sabrina Harnish (Scott) and her son Daniel Fowler (Mary), all of Fredericton; her stepdaughters, Dianna Hicks (Bob) of 100 Mile House, B.C. and Ramona Ferguson of Calgary, and her stepson Robert Ferguson (Barb) of Petawawa. She was the proud Nana to many grandchildren and great grand children, she was the glue that held a blended family together. She is also survived one brother, Jack Blunston of Penniac and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend of 56 years, Bayna Goodspeed of Marysville. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Blunston, three brothers and one sister. She was also predeceased by two stepsons. There will be no visitation by request. Memorial service will be held from the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 750 Grandame St in Fredericton on Wednesday, February 6 at 2 PM. The family wishes to thank the Harvey Out Reach Girls. MARKUS, Antal “Tony“ - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at his home in Brantford, in his 72nd year, with his wife and best friend Debra by his side. Husband of Debra (nee Martin). Father of Alex (Lisa), Andrew (Lise), Elizabeth, Christine (Alex). Step-father of Nicole (Warren), Carl (Nicole). Grandfather of Carly, Caitlin, Mikaila and Ethan. Tony immigrated to Canada in 1956 and made Brantford his home. Tony was a long time employee of L.P. International. Tony loved astronomy, soccer and drag racing. STOCKMAN, Gary John - peacefully at his home on Friday, February 1st, 2008. Gary in his 62nd year. Beloved and cherished husband of Hilda, for over 36 years. CARLYLE, L. Ethelwyn - At Brantford General Hospital on January 31, 2008, Lillias Ethelwyn Carlyle, of Bieldy Knowes, R. R. # 6, Brantford, in her 90th year. Ethelwyn was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Carlyle and the late Margaret Wilson (Brown) Carlyle. Ethelwyn will be sadly missed by her cousins Mrs. Jean Innes, Mrs. Margaret Meggs, Mrs. Mary McCormick, Mr. and Mrs. Ken and Palm Brown, Mrs. Helen Neill, Mrs. Odette Hamar, and Mrs. Penny Carlyle, and their families, and her dear friends Mr. and Mrs. Verne and Helen Barnim, and Mrs. Mary McCrae. Miss Carlyle was a well-known watercolourist in Brant County whose artistic career spanned over 60 years. She was the former owner of Carlyle Art and Craft Supply in Brantford. ANDREWS, Ernest “Ernie“ H. - A resident of Chatham, Ernie Andrews died suddenly in Columbia, Tennessee on January 29, 2008 at the age of 81. Loving husband of the late Myrna Andrews (Plaxton)(2002). Dear father to Blair Andrews and his wife Sharon. Proud grandfather to Allyson. Predeceased by his son Barry (1980). Survived by his brothers Edwin of Vancouver, Robert of Toronto as well as his sister Mabel also of Vancouver. Ernie operated E.H. Andrews Management Limited before his retirement in 1994. His career began in Western Canada as a sales representative, progressing to senior executive levels and eventually moving to Toronto and founding his own company serving many international clients. Ernie will also be remembered for his love of golf, curling; his years as a Scout leader, bowling, boating and the many memories he helped create at his cottage on the Kawartha Lakes. His service to the Kiwanis Club will not be forgotten as well as many other volunteer positions including assisting the residents of St. Andrews Residence.
