Jean-Pierre "John Pit" Breau (1951-2008) NEW JERSEY - À l’Hôpital régional de Miramichi, le samedi 2 février 2008, à l’âge de 56 ans, est décédé Jean-Pierre "John Pit" Breau, époux de Thérèse Robichaud, domicilié à New Jersey. Né le 26 août 1951, il était fils de feu Everard Breau et de Lydia Basque du Foyer de soins de Tabusintac. Outre son épouse et sa mère, il laisse dans le deuil deux filles: Diana (Larry Coughlan) de Lagacéville et Annie de Néguac; trois fils: Robert (Charline LeBouthillier) de Miramichi, Jason et Edmond, tous deux à la résidence familiale; trois soeurs: Claudine (Éric Breau) de Fairisle, Claudette (Jean-Guy Robichaud) et Marie-Thérèse (Chuck Hill), toutes deux de Néguac; deux frères: Arnel (Hélène) et Norbert (Evelyne), tous deux de Néguac; cinq petits-enfants: Kevin, Tommy, Allen, Randy et Sarah; sa belle-mère, Etiennette (feu Edmond Robichaud) de Barryville, ainsi que plusieurs tantes, neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines. Un frère, Denis, l’a précédé dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 14h, le lundi 4 février, à la Maison Robichaud, 50, rue Otho, à Néguac (robichaud@arbormemorial.com). Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Bernard de Néguac, le mardi 5 février, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. CRUPI, Francesco 2008-02-04 Mr. Francesco Crupi, age 89 years, a resident of Grandview Lodge, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Francesco was born in Siderno Marina Reggio Calabria, Italy and lived there until 1949 when he immigrated to Fort William. He worked for Sask Wheat Pool until his retirement in 1983. His home, family and especially his garden were very important to him. He is survived by his sons Michael (Marina), Angelo (Tina), Peter (Lucy/Christine) and Jim, grandchildren Tanya Newman (Jamie), Jessica, Natalie, Vanessa, Christopher, Frankie, Daniel and Sabrina, great granddaughter Leia, sisters Nina (Michael) Crupi, Natalina Minnella, Rosa Lenardo, sisters-in-law Theresa Commisso, Angelina Crupi, brothers-in-law Joseph (Gina) Commisso. As well numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive here and in Schreiber, Toronto, Calgary, Springfield Mass; and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Assunta, father-in-law Angelo Commisso, brothers Carmelo, Cosimo, Dominic and Guiseppe, sisters Teresa Minnella and Maria Commisso. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008 when family and friends will gather for the Funeral Mass in St. Dominic’s Church at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Daniel Lapolla c.s.. KEARY, EDITH MARY - Edith Mary Keary, 93, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Saturday February 2, 2008. She was the wife of the late James Robert Keary. Edith was born in Saint John, NB in 1914, a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Herbert) Golding Small. She was a homemaker and an employee of Centrecare until she retired in 1979. Her greatest love and joy was all her family. CRISPINO, Brenda 2008-02-04 Mrs. Brenda Crispino, age 59 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away at her residence on Friday, February 1, 2008. Brenda was born in Fort William and has resided here all of her life. She was very active in the community through her volunteer efforts. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick‘s Cathedral. BLAIR (AOCA), Robert (Bob) George 1944 - 2008 - On Saturday, February 2nd, 2008, Bob passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, after a courageous four-year battle with colorectal cancer, in his 63rd year. He was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on March 13th, 1944, to parents W.R.N. (Buck) and Audrey (nee Cooke) Blair. Bob is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginny) (nee Roberts) and his daughter Kathryn (Miriam and grandson Kameron) of Ottawa, brothers Richard (Carolyn) of Winnipeg and John (Patricia) of Calgary, and nieces and nephews Karen, Robert, Jade (Louis) and Caitlin. He will be missed by close friend and business associate Wendy Grant. Bob was a graduate of Graphic Design from the Ontario College of Art. After a brief time in Ottawa at Campeau Corporation he and Ginny moved to Cornwall in 1970 where he became a Teaching Master and then Chair of Graphic Design at St. Lawrence College for 25 years. In 1994 he, Ginny and Wendy purchased Cornwall City Press. His passions included antique automobiles, painting, fishing and spending time at the home he and Ginny built in Martintown with his family, pets and friends. In keeping with Bob's wishes a funeral will not be held, but rather friends and family can meet for a celebration of his life at Cornwall City Press, 700 Campbell Street, Cornwall on Saturday, February 9, 2008 between 1:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon. BARNETT, Arthur George Sadly passed away, 31st January 2008, at Carlingview Manor, after a difficult illness. Beloved husband of the late Christina Barnett, he is survived by his sons Edward Gregory (Inese) Barnett and Robin Bruce (Dianne) Barnett, his grandchildren Erinne Barnett and Steven (Kellie) Barnett, and his great-granddaughter Ruby Barnett. Born May 3, 1921, "Artie" was a hard working and caring father with a strong commitment to providing community service. He was an outstanding amateur hockey coach in Winnipeg MB in the 1940s and served as an alderman for the Town of Dollard des Ormeaux PQ in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was an employee of Air Canada (formerly TCA) for 37 years and was one of the first company recipients of the prestigious "Award of Merit" in 1974 for dedicated service to the airline and in the community. SYME, Rev. Robert Alexander On February 4, 2008, The Rev. Robert Alexander Syme died peacefully at his home in Deep River, after a long and valliant battle with colon cancer. Bob is survived by his mother Anne, his wife, Ruth and their children Alison 9Marty Sulek) of Farmland, Indiana, and Christopher (Melissa Greiner), Hilary (Craig Swaby), Peter, and Matthew (Elizabeth Thorpe) of Toronto. He will be much missed by grandchildren Riehl, Oscar, Alexander, Julian, Caleb, Jamal, Tia and Emma; by his brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Beth and by his many nephews and nieces, in-laws and cousins. He was a faithful servant of his Lord through his calling to the Presbyterian Church in Canada, first as a lay leader; then in 1977 he graduated from McGill and Presbyterian College in Montreal. He was ordained and served until his retirement from pastoral ministry in 2005. A Memorial service will be conducted in the Deep River Community Church on Friday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m. In memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Deep River Community Church would be gratefully appreciated. MCNALLY, JAMES ARNOLD - The death of James Arnold McNally of Smiths Creek occurred at his residence on February 2, 2008 at the age of 71. Born at Penobsquis, a son of the late Bernard and Mildred (Colpitts) McNally. James is survived by his children, Judy McNally (Allen Lounsbury), Petitcodiac, Bernard McNally (Barbara), Penobsquis and Brenda Campbell, Moncton; seven grandchildren; sister, Marg Hibberts (Henry), Springhill, NS; several nieces and nephews. MAHAR, CHERYL 'LYNN' - The death of Lynn Mahar occurred unexpectedly on February 2, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Black's Harbour, NB she was the daughter of the late Lindell and Mae (Stevens) Mahar. She had been employed with Red Rose Tea and Regis Inventory Services and was currently employed with Empire Theatres. She volunteered at Forest Hill School, enjoyed playing cards and being with her family. Spending time at 'the Lake' held a special place in her heart. Surviving is her sister, Hyla Scott (Michelle); brothers, Wayne (Debbie), Stephen (Twila), Donald (Lois), all of Saint John; her nieces and nephews, Terra, Bonnie, Angie, Teegan, Christopher and Jamie; great-nieces, Becky, Katie 'Peanut', Jocelyn; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her special great-aunt and great-uncle, Merle and Joe Chambers; and aunt Audrey Thorne. At her request there will be no visitation or funeral service. HARRIOTT, DERICK RONALD (BON) - The death of Derick Ronald (Bon) Harriott, husband of Margaret Anne (Lord) Harriott, of 21 Alexandra Cres. St. Andrews N.B., occurred at the Charlotte Co. Hospital, on Sunday February 3, 2008. Born in Middlesex, England, Bon was a son of the late Alfred L., and Annie (Brown) Harriott, he came to Canada in 1940. He was an Electrician. GELDART, ODESSA PHYLLIS - Surrounded by her family, Odessa Geldart, wife of the late John Geldart, passed away peacefully at her residence in Rothesay, on February 2, 2008. She was born on October 20, 1924 in Coles Island, NB and was a daughter of the late Guy and Gertrude (Crandale) Prosser. Odessa primarily was a loving wife, mother and nanny but found the time to work as a Nurse's Aid for the Canadian Red Cross. She was an active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Society. Odessa loved the church almost as much as her family. She was well known for her beautiful quilts, and her crocheting and knitting ability. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Moore (Weldon) of Burton, NB; two sons, Norval Yorston and Gordon Geldart (Jean) both of Rothesay, NB; eight grandchildren, Jaska, Elizabeth, Timothy, Nancy, Cindy, David, Joseph and Tina; 11 great grandchildren, including her new name's sake, Baby Odessa Elizabeth; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB 634-7424 with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Wilfred J. Lutes 1929-2008 Wilfred John Lutes passed away suddenly, but peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Mae; his son, Derek (Heather); daughter, Deborah (Ronald) Chirka; three loving grandchildren, Samantha, Daniel and Madison; sisters, Joyce Allison, Beth Ferguson; and sister-in-law, Joyce Lutes; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Barbara "Jesse"; as well as his brother, Rupert. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially because he was known for his wit, his great sense of humor and his gift of gab. At his request no visitation or service will be held. MELNYK, Willa Margaret May 22, 1920 - February 2, 2008 Willa Margaret Melnyk, beloved wife of Orest Melnyk of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Willa Margaret Turner was born in Halifax, NS. She met her husband Orest, when he was stationed in Halifax during World War II. He proposed before he left for overseas, and on his return, they were married in Halifax. They moved to Cadomin where David and Mona were born, but settled in Edmonton. Willa was president of the I.O.D.E. for numerous years and is remembered for her beauty, her wardrobe, her spectacular hats and her mink stole. Willa and Orrie enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in the Ilikea Hotel in Hawaii. Las Vegas was another favourite trip. In 1993, Orrie and Willa moved to Victoria where they spent twelve wonderful years. In 2005, as Willa's health was failing, they moved to Calgary to be closer to Mona and Gordon. They settled at McKenzie Retirement Home where Willa lost her battle with pulmonary fibrosis on February 2. Besides her loving husband Orest, Willa is survived by her son David and her daughter Mona Tansowny. Her son-in-law Gordon Guenette and her daughter-in-law Laurel became two of her favourite people. Her grandchildren Todd and Kari were the delight of her life. Attending their ballet lessons, soccer, basketball and volleyball games were an important part of her life. Seeing Todd marry Randi and having three of her great-grandchildren made her very proud. Watching Kari grow into an amazing, strong woman was one of her greatest sources of pride. Her four step-grandchildren, Dan, Chris, Ann, and Kate added more enjoyment to her life. It could have been soccer games, Christmas concerts or Kate's music concerts, but they were all enjoyed. With Dan marrying Asanna, two more great-grandchildren were added, Bralen and Rhea. A Celebration of Willa's Life will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the "Recreational Room" at 30 Cranfield Link S.E. in Calgary.
