FITZGERALD, MICHAEL DONALD RICHARD (MIKE FITZ!) (June 10, 1991 - February 2, 2008) - With his family by his side, and at home where he wanted to be, Mikey said goodbye to us and to the illness that had weakened him. He fought with determination and faced his challenge with courage and dignity, never once complaining. Mike was a Grade 11 student at Leo Hayes High School where he was welcomed with open arms, but he leaves behind exceptional friends from every school in the province and beyond. With the exception of friends and family, Mike's greatest love was basketball. In his too-short career Mike Fitz helped bring home five provincial championships, an NBA 3-on-3 championship, and represented New Brunswick at the Under 15 Club Nationals in 2006 and on the provincial Under 16 team in 2007. Mike "Little Fitzy" was an avid golfer and worked (and we use the term loosely as it was too much fun to be classed as work) in the back shop at the Fredericton Golf Club where he was much loved by all of the Club's members. Saddened by the loss of Michael's love and laughter are his parents, Don and Colleen (Graham); his brothers and confidantes, John and Patrick; and his one-and-only sister, Karen. He will also be missed by his Godparents, Paul and Fabia Fitzgerald; his grandfather, Richard Fitzgerald; his grandmother, Sadie Graham, many aunts, uncles, cousins and the most awesome friends one could imagine. Mike is now sharing his laughter with his infant brother, Richard; his grandmother, Minnie (Digdon) Fitzgerald; his grandfather, John Graham; his uncle, Tommy Graham; and his aunt, Karen Graham. BLAIR (AOCA), Robert (Bob) George 1944 - 2008 On Saturday, February 2nd, 2008, Bob passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, after a courageous four-year battle with colorectal cancer, in his 63rd year. He was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on March 13th, 1944, to parents W.R.N. (Buck) and Audrey (nee Cooke) Blair. Bob is survived by his wife Virginia (Ginny) (nee Roberts) and his daughter Kathryn (Miriam and grandson Kameron) of Ottawa, brothers Richard (Carolyn) of Winnipeg and John (Patricia) of Calgary, and nieces and nephews Karen, Robert, Jade (Louis) and Caitlin. He will be missed by close friend and business associate Wendy Grant. Bob was a graduate of Graphic Design from the Ontario College of Art. After a brief time in Ottawa at Campeau Corporation he and Ginny moved to Cornwall in 1970 where he became a Teaching Master and then Chair of Graphic Design at St. Lawrence College for 25 years. In 1994 he, Ginny and Wendy purchased Cornwall City Press. His passions included antique automobiles, painting, fishing and spending time at the home he and Ginny built in Martintown with his family, pets and friends. In keeping with Bob's wishes a funeral will not be held, but rather friends and family can meet for a celebration of his life at Cornwall City Press, 700 Campbell Street, Cornwall on Saturday, February 9, 2008 between 1:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon. ALLEN, Hilbert John - (World War II Veteran) Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Hospital Drive Site, on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Muriel (nee Lonsberry) for 68 years. Loving father of Arnold and his wife Lenore and Robert and his wife Barbara. Proud grandfather of Jeffrey (Jody), Matthew (Jennie Millard), Steven (Melissa) and Bradley (Rhonda). Great grandfather of Kylie, Landon, Kaedyn, Bronson, Colby, Curtis and predeceased by Logan. Predeceased by his sister Thurza McCracken and his brothers, Grenville and Clayton. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. After working at several industries in Peterborough, Hilbert and Muriel moved to Ida where they owned and operated the Ida General Store and Post Office as well as driving the school bus. He took great pride in his gardens. Hilbert was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows for 54 years. ANDREWS, Ernest “Ernie“ H. - A resident of Chatham, Ernie Andrews died suddenly in Columbia, Tennessee on January 29, 2008 at the age of 81. Loving husband of the late Myrna Andrews (Plaxton)(2002). Dear father to Blair Andrews and his wife Sharon. Proud grandfather to Allyson. Predeceased by his son Barry (1980). Survived by his brothers Edwin of Vancouver, Robert of Toronto as well as his sister Mabel also of Vancouver. Ernie operated E.H. Andrews Management Limited before his retirement in 1994. His career began in Western Canada as a sales representative, progressing to senior executive levels and eventually moving to Toronto and founding his own company serving many international clients. Ernie will also be remembered for his love of golf, curling; his years as a Scout leader, bowling, boating and the many memories he helped create at his cottage on the Kawartha Lakes. His service to the Kiwanis Club will not be forgotten as well as many other volunteer positions including assisting the residents of St. Andrews Residence. ADAMS, Gordon 2008-02-04 It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Gordon Adams on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the T.B.R.H.S.C. He was born in Port Arthur on October 2, 1934 and attended Jumbo Gardens School. Gordie was employed by Bennett‘s Bakery, Port Arthur P.U.C, and retired from Vulcan Machinery in 1987. He enjoyed watching sports on T.V., especially the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, and NASCAR Racing. He was very involved in local sports coaching t-ball with both the Fort William Nationals and Port Arthur Nationals, serving as a goal judge at P.A. Arena and Fort William Gardens as well as driving stock car for a few years. These were happy times watching his son Gordie develop a love for sports. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Lil Fortes and her husband Vic, brothers Arnold, John and his wife Rose, and Matt and his wife Helen. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Archdeacon Mark S. Conliffe presiding. The service will be complete in the chapel with a reception to follow in the Sargent Family Reception Centre. Beloved husband and best friend of Joan (nee Graham). Loving father of Giselle (Garry Heinlein), Nicole, Roger and Adrienne. Proud grandfather of Shane, Don, Nicholas, Max and Emma and great-grandfather of five. Loving son-in-law of Lolly Graham, brother-in-law of Mel and Terry Graham, Sue and Don Roach and the late Barbara Graham. Also left to mourn are his sisters; Therese Roy, Jeannine Allard, and Rita Collins, and his brother Paul Sauve. Rolly will also be missed by his cherished friends; Bob Clare, Bud and Marg, Myrna and Ron, Anne Marie and Bill, Bob, Doris and Suzy, as well as those at Rideau Mac Resort and Westport. Rolly had a lifelong passion for flight, the history of Canadian Aviation, woodworking, fishing and camping. PARSONS, Muriel nee Craig Peacefully now on Saturday, February 2, 2008 in her 96th year after several months of increasing sickness and pain. Remembered lovingly by her sister Viola Craig. Cherished mother to Doug Parsons (Lise Levesque) and John Parsons (Sandra Parsons). Will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Anne Parsons, Andrew Parsons (Brigitte Martin) and her wonderful great-grandson Samuel. Predeceased by her husband George Parsons, father Donald Craig, mother Agnes Craig (nee MacKenzie), her brothers Edgar Craig, Don Craig and by her sisters Ruby Ferriman and Florence Gilchrest. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Wednesday from 1pm until time of service in the chapel at 2:30pm. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cohen and the staff at Central Park Lodge for their care and compassion over the last year but especially in the last months and weeks.
