Raymond J. Leger 1929-2008 A l'Hôpital régional Dr G.-L. Dumont, le mardi 4 février 2008, à l'âge de 78 ans, est décédé Raymond 'Ray' Joseph Leger, domicilié à Moncton, rue Fernwood. Né à Moncton le 25 mai 1929, il était le fils adopté de feu Arthur et Florence (Belliveau) Leger. Il laisse dans le deuil deux filles: Jeannine Berube (Ed) de Scoudouc, Doris Ayles (Adelard) de Moncton; trois fils: Paul (Fernande) et Tony (Peggy) de Dieppe, Peter de Moncton; treize petits-enfants: Monique et Danny Berube; Kim, Nicole, Monique , Rick, Sabrina et Ray Leger; Jason et Brian Ayles; Christa, Shawn et Jennifer MacDonald; neuf arrière-petits-enfants; deux frères: Jerry et Ronald (Angie); ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Il est précédé dans la tombe par son épouse, Ida (Leger) Leger; un fils, George; une fille, Theresa et sa petite-fille Michelle. Ray était retiré de VIA Rail avec 26 ans de service. Ray was retired from VIA Rail with 26 years service, a veteran of the Korean War having served with the 4th Field Squadron of the Royal Canadian Engineers, a former member of the Magnetic Hill Golf and Country Club, an avid hunter, and bowler, especially ten pin. He is survived by two daughters: Jeannine Berube (Ed) of Scoudouc, Doris Ayles (Adelard) of Moncton; three sons: Paul (Fernande) and Tony (Peggy) of Dieppe, Peter at home; 13 grandchildren: Monique and Danny Berube, Kim, Nicole, Monique , Rick, Sabrina, and Ray Leger; Jason, and Brian Ayles; Christa, Shawn, and Jennifer MacDonald; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jerry and Ronald (Angie); numerous nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents, he is also predeceased by his best friend and wife of 58 years Ida (Leger) Leger, a son, George, a daughter, Theresa, and a granddaughter Michelle. At Ray's request, no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held Friday, February 8 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from St.-Louis-de-France Roman Catholic Church, Lewisville. CRONEY, Reginald "Rex". 1920-2008. Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the West Island Palliative Care Residence. Beloved husband for forty-nine years of Judy. MAJOR, Holly - Holly Luva Ida Mae Major of Cornwall gave up her fight after a lengthy battle with cancer on February 1, 2008, age 37 years. MONTANARO, Giuseppina (Josephine)(nee Foglia) 2008-02-04 Giuseppina (Josephine) Montanaro (nee Foglia) passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the TBRHSC, at the age of 77. Giuseppina was born in Visciano, Naples, Italy on March 19, 1930 and moved to Thunder Bay in 1956 with her husband Salvatore and her first two children, Aniello (Neil) and Emilio. One of her happiest moments in life was celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary on October 27th, 2000 with a big party at the Da Vinci Centre. Giuseppina found great joy in being a wife, mother and Nonna. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the love of her life and her greatest pride and joy. Nonna always made sure we were well-fed, from homemade bread & "pizza frite" on Saturdays to her pasta dinner on Sundays (with eggplant parmigiana and braciole in between!) She opened her arms to all who entered her home and no one ever left hungry! Giuseppina is survived by her family: husband of 57 years, Salvatore, son Aniello (Antonietta) and their children, Josie, Joanna, and Sam, son Emilio (Kim) and their sons Michael and Philip, daughter Anna (Steve) Marchese and their children Maria, Carlina and Davide, daughter Lucy (Eric) Stephens of Kelowna, BC, brother Gregorio Foglia, sister Mariangela (Frank) Montella of Italy, sister Brigida (Giacomo) DeSena , sister Antoniette (Felice) Miele, and cousin Carmella Serino. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy and also by numerous brothers- and- sisters in-law on her husband’s side of the family. She is predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Rubina (Bernardo) Foglia, brother Antonio in youth, sister Merita, brothers Angelo, Carmine and Victorio, and most recently by her special sister-in-law Teresa (Iannicelli) Foglia. Nonna was strong, a real fighter and never gave up, even when she was faced with difficult life challenges. Nonna we love you, we miss you and we know you’re cooking for everyone up in Heaven. JARY, Mary Rosalie - Died peacefully on January 22, 2008 at Extendicare in her 98th year surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of George. Cherished mother of Livia and the late Joseph Beirnes. Loving Grandmother of Naomi and Varley (Elle). Survived by sister Anne Kadash. Predeceased by siblings Elizabeth Toth and Joseph Sostories. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Mary will be remembered for her ever-present wit and humour and many years of volunteer work. Ivan W. Steeves 1940-2008 Ivan Steeves, 67, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on February 3, 2008 at his home with his loving wife by his side, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Salem on March 21, 1940, the son of the late Howe and Blanche Steeves. Ivan grew up in Salem, and in his younger years could often be seen trailing after his father in the woods or at the saw mill. He worked for various companies over the years, such as Co-op, Eatons and Rusco, before going into business for himself. He created Steeves Products Ltd. a machine repair shop and operated the local Irving Convenience Store. Ivan enjoyed spending time in his shop, which was often occupied by family and friends sharing stories. He was always ready to listen to others and equally ready to express his own strong opinion, in his "tell it like it is" manner. He was a proud member of the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years; serving as Fire Chief for over 22 years from his appointment in 1979 until his retirement in 2001. This proved his dedication to his community as he also answered all fire calls at his home. He was a very humble man who did not like to take a lot of credit, but he was a true asset to his community and the surrounding areas for many years. Routinely sought out by the whole community for his immeasurable and diverse wealth of knowledge; his grandson referred to him as his own personal "text book". Above all things he was a true family man. He took great pride in being a father and grandfather. He was always delivering his own special brand of playful teasing that told his family he loved them dearly. He was a beloved husband, dad and grampie who has left so many good memories, which will be treasured forever. "God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you, And whispered, "Come to Me". A Golden Heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best." He will be deeply missed by his devoted and caring wife of 45 years, Judith (Milton); his cherished children, Velda Steeves (Reginald) of Shenstone, Marney Steeves (Arden Beaumont) of Hillsborough, Krista King (Kevin) of Newmarket, Ontario and Carrie Steeves (Brian Hedd) of Moncton; his six precious grandchildren, Matthew Steeves (Jackie Rossiter), Amanda Steeves, Brandon King, Andrea King, Marissa Trites and Marley Trites. He is also survived by younger brother, Wesley Steeves; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was also a very special brother-in-law who will be fondly remembered by all of Judy's family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his younger sister, Wendy. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation Monday, February 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2:00pm with Pastor Leonard Geldart officiating and Rev. Jack Allen assisting. Interment will be in the Shenstone Cemetery, Shenstone in the spring. Marie Babineau 1931-2008 Marie Babineau, 76, of Moncton, NB, passed away on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital. Born in Sunny Brae, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and the late Amanda (née: DesRoches) Melanson. Mrs. Babineau, prior to retirement worked as a secretary, she enjoyed bowling and spent many hours volunteering for the Blood Donor Clinics and Meal-on-Wheels programs. She was a member of both Club d'Age d'Or-Christ Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Hector; one sister, Stella (George) Vanbuskirk of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, Albert Girouard; one son, Jacques; one sister, Bertha; and also by one brother, Bertin. PLEXMAN, Anthony E. - We have lost our Rock, our Light, our beloved Anthony. With deepest sorrow, his family announces the passing of Anthony (Tony) E. Plexman, at the age of 64, Friday, February 1st, 2008 at Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Deeply cherished husband of Catherine (nee Taggart). Loving and devoted father of son Steven (wife Deanna) and daughter Kelly (husband Dave MacKinnon). Adored grandfather of little Ian Anthony. Predeceased by his parents Alois and Eta Plexman. Loved by Catherine's family - John and Karen, Fred and Joan, and Millie. Predeceased by Ann (1997) and Bill (2002). Missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Anthony was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was always ready with a helping hand and a quick smile. He was a true and loyal friend and treasured many friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Tony was so proud to serve the community of his hometown as a police officer for nearly 30 years. He had strong convictions of right and wrong and would never compromise his values. While pursing his career, Tony obtained his BA in Criminal Justice from Laurentian University over the course of eight years - a true demonstration of his determination. Anthony was very proud of his children and was always a major influence in their lives. He absolutely delighted in being Ian's Grandpa. Tony loved the outdoors - hunting, fishing and his camp; Tony and Catherine spent many happy times enjoying their retirement together. We will miss the strength and warmth of his hugs, the sparkle in his eyes, his hearty laugh and most of all, his kindness and love. He lived his life with no apologies and no regrets. LEWIS, William John (Jack) - In loving memory of Jack Lewis, 65 years, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Beloved husband of Myrna (Clarke). He spent many years with The Sudbury and District Pipe Band with whom he went to Scotland in 1984. He took great pride in his children and their accomplishments, and he loved his grandsons dearly. COLLIN, Philip Alphonse - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at St- Joseph's Health Centre Hospital in Sudbury at the age of 83. A long time Railway Man, he proudly served the CPR for 40 years. Philip, a devoted family man, loved telling jokes, singing and playing his fiddle to whoever would listen; and it was always many. FOSTER, Rosemary 2008-02-04 Rosemary Foster of Thunder Bay passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the age of 86. Born in England on November 26, 1921 Rose came to Canada in 1949 settling first in Niagara Falls Ontario moving to Nipigon then to the Thunder Bay area. Though her work history was mainly in the food service industry her last years of work prior to retiring were spent at the Salvation Army Florence Booth Home and the City of Thunder Bay Crisis House. She had a love of opera music and was an accomplished organist and pianist in her younger years. Rose was predeceased by George Foster Sr. in 1983, her parents John and Mary Pender, sister and brother in law Doreen and Tom Machin, brother in law Ernie Smith, son in law Lloyd Simmons and a brother in infancy. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Smith of Niagara Falls, her daughters, Leonie (Omer) Belisle, Nipigon, Kathleen (Alan) Kartinen, Thunder Bay, Eileen (Bruce) Crozier, Kakabeka Falls and Martha Simmons of Red Rock her sons, John (Ann) Manitoba, Michael (Mary), Florida, Colin Thunder Bay, Kevin (Lori) Saskatchewan and George Jr. of Alberta. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives in Canada, England and the USA. According to Rosemary’s wishes cremation has taken place and funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church celebrated by Rev. Al Campeau. Interment will follow at a later time in Mountain View Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Yvonne Finn (1916-2008) INKERMAN FERRY - Aux Résidences Mgr-Chiasson de Shippagan, le vendredi 1er février 2008, à l’âge de 91 ans et trois mois, est décédée Yvonne Finn, épouse de feu Alexandre Finn, domiciliée aux Résidences Mgr-Chiasson, mais autrefois d’Inkerman Ferry. Née à Bas-Caraquet le 29 octobre 1916, elle était fille de feu Mathilde Lebouthillier et de feu Elizée Gionet. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants qu’elle aimait, une fille, Edith; deux fils: Rhéal (Délia Haché) et Alexandre (Odette Landry), Georgine Brideau qu’elle considérait comme sa fille; un gendre, Fernand Gionet, tous d’Inkerman Ferry; deux petits-enfants qu’elle chérissait: Chantal Finn (Joey Losier) de Cornwall, Ont., et Michel Finn (Raphaëlle Deraspe) de Kingston, Ont.; une belle-soeur, Antonia Gionet de Bas-Caraquet, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Une fille, Hedwidge (27 août 2003); ses soeurs: Justine, Geneviève et Léontine, ainsi que ses frères: Alexis, Lévis et Joseph, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. PARIS, EWING OSCAR - Surrounded by his family, the death of Ewing Paris, formerly of Cottage Road, Saint John, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 3, 2008. He was born in Truro, NS to the late Norman and Nellie (Lewis) Paris. Ewing was a self employed truck driver and loved everything to do with trucks and trucking. He is survived by two sons, Clinton (Helen) and Brian (Mabel) both of Saint John; one sister, Frances Bree of Saint John; four grandchildren, Brendena, Chantai and Jason (Krista) Paris and Tara (Blaine) Cameron; five great grandchildren, Shanice, Lauryn, Shale, Kayden and Brydon; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ewing was predeceased by his loving wife, Lila Mae Paris; and three sisters, Margaret, Dorothy and Viva. Nancy graduated from Victoria Public Hospital Nursing School in Fredericton in 1965 and then used these skills and knowledge to raise her family. She was an active member of the Mactaquac Baptist Church and was involved in many areas of the ministry. Nancy daily demonstrated her love of the Lord. She particularly enjoyed the fellowship of the Ladies Morning Out and Mary Love ABW Group. She looked forward to getting together with the Keswick Ridge Quilters to work on new projects. A celebration of Nancy's life will take place at the Kingswood Lodge, 31 Kingswood Park, Fredericton, NB (Off Hanwell Rd.) on Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, all are welcome and refreshments will be served.
