Il laisse dans le deuil sa mère Rollande Racette; ses frères: Richard (Hélène Boudreault) et Claude; sa nièce Anne-Catherine et son neveu Kevin. Il laisse également plusieurs oncles, tantes, cousins et cousines. La famille tient à remercier très sincèrement Dr Sylvie Brulé d'avoir été un ange gardien durant ces moments difficiles. MAJER, STEFIE - The death of Stefie (Kibel) Majer of Carleton Kirk Complex occurred on Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She moved here to Saint John from Croatia in 1952, worked at MRA's and Scovils as a seamstress, moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 1966. She returned to Saint John in 2000 with her husband, Ivan. She was pre- deceased by her loving husband Ivan in 2005. She is survived by son, Herbert (Jean) Foglein of Quispamsis; daughter, Hedda Fry of Idaho, USA; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. JOHNSTON, David Earle - Passed away at Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, in his 89th year. Dear husband of the late Betty (Bennett) Johnston (2002). Loved father of Kathryn of Scarborough (the late Paul Jury (2005), Anne Lehoux (Ray) of Guelph and the late David (1976). Loved grandpa of Matthieu and Marielle Lehoux. Thérèse Raîche née Proulx Laniel 1926 - 2008 C’est par une nuit étoilée, le 28 janvier 2008, que Thérèse Laniel s’est endormie tranquillement, laissant derrière elle l’image d’une femme remplie de bonté, de force, de sagesse et d’amour. Dans son sommeil, elle est partie rejoindre ses deux filles, Ginette et Francine, pour qui son cœur n’a jamais cessé de battre. Fille de Maria Bernier et de Vilmaire Raîche, elle était l’épouse de Fernand Laniel, la mère de Christiane, Nicole (Michel Bélisle), la grand-maman adorée de Geneviève (Thierry Diaz), Annie-Claude, Stéphanie, Marie-Ève, Vincent et l’arrière grand-maman de Victor. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses frères et sœurs, Janine (Léo Laplante), Jacques Proulx (Fernande Harrisson), Madeleine, Myrielle et Léo Proulx tous trois décédés, plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux et nièces, parents et amis qui ont eu l’immense privilège de la côtoyer. O'CARROLL, William (Bill) Francis May 18, 1925 - January 30, 2008 William (Bill) O'Carroll, beloved husband of Marie O'Carroll of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Bill was a top real estate salesman in Calgary in the 1950's and 1960's. He was a member of the Millionaire's Club and spent his working career employed by Prudential Toole Peet Real Estate and Keith Homes. Bill was also an excellent athlete. Besides his loving wife of fifty years, Bill is survived by his brother Rev. Patrick O'Carroll of Barefoot Bay, FL; his sister Sister Rita O'Carroll of Long Beach, CA; brother-in-law George and Angela Couture of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland, England and Canada. He was predeceased by his brother Michael; and brothers-in-law, Anton, Gabriel, Andrew, Frank, and Raymond. WRIGHT, Shirley Jean November 2, 1929 - January 30, 2008 Shirley Wright, beloved wife of John R. Wright of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. Shirley served with the Girl Guides of Canada Movement for over fifteen years, retiring as an area commissioner. Besides John, her loving husband of fifty-four years, Shirley is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen and Dorthy Wright, Ronald and Waldi Wright and Timothy Wright, all of Calgary; grandchildren, Gerald, James, Christopher, Jessica (Collin), Ronald Jr., Tristin and Angelica. She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond and Gordon; her sisters, Ethel, Ann and Winnifred as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. BLACKSTOCK, William John William John Blackstock was born at Edmonton, Alberta June 16, 1918 and passed away January 29, 2008 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. He was predeceased by his first wife Marion Blackstock (nee Johansen) and his brothers George and Archie Blackstock, his sister Margaret Dodds and his nephew Robert Blackstock. He is survived by his three children Linda, Ian (Sunny) and Jean, three grandchildren, Sara, Marion and Hilary, his cousins Margaret Gordon and Doris Hopkin and his Second Wife Dianne. He will be sadly missed by Dianne's children Marnie, Christine (Graham), Barry (Mary) and David (Dawn) as well as their children Courtney, Thea, Eric, Jordan, Crystal and James. Bill Graduated from the University of Alberta in 1942 with a Civil Engineering Degree. He served with the Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic during the Second World War. He subsequently became involved in the Western Canadian Mining and Oil and Gas Industries, working for many years with the Mannix Companies. Together with his brother George he was a founder and principal of Beta Well Services Company and numerous other ventures in Western Canada. He will be sadly missed by his family. We would like to thank friends and family who visited over the last few years as his health failed. We also wish to thank the staff and volunteers of the Colonel Belcher Care Centre as well as Dr. Steven Watson and staff of Unit 32 at Foothills Hospital. BAKOS, Sherry 2008-02-01 In loving memory of Sherry Lynn Bakos (nee Satterthwaite), age 53 of Dryden, who passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Sherry was born on September 4, 1954 in Thunder Bay, ON, where she spent most of her younger years. She then married her husband, Donald and have been married for 34 years. Together they had two children, Bryan John and Jennifer Dawn. They moved to Dryden in 1981. Sherry enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting and fishing with her family. She survived by her loving husband Donald, son Bryan, wife Jennifer and children Jordan and Darian, daughter Jennifer Betker, husband Darren and their child Miranda all of Dryden. Father William Satterthwaite of Dryden, brothers Don and wife Lana of Dryden, and Robert of Thunder Bay, ON, sister Debbie Oberg of Dryden, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Sherry was predeceased by her mother Barbara Ann Satterthwaite of Dryden. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Eschbach officiating. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date. ASIMAKOS, JOHN PETER - beloved husband, father, and grandfather, age 72, died on Tuesday, January 22nd, in the palliative care unit of the Sackville Memorial Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his wife and partner, Linda Rae Dornan; and his children, Peter (Beth), Seth (Brandi) and Arielle (David); and grandchildren, Gavin, Caelan, Caroline, Simon, John, Aidan, and Christian. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 24th, 1935. He was trained from a young age as a singer and was recruited to sing at the Metropolitan Opera but chose to be a painter. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany as an artist in "Special Services" from 1955 to 1957. He studied at the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 1960, and subsequently teaching at the De Cordova Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum School of Fine Arts. In 1965, he and his family moved to Halifax where he taught at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. In 1973 the family moved to Sackville where John began teaching in the Fine Arts Department at Mount Allison University in Sackville. Besides teaching, John was also a natural athlete who loved to skate and to play tennis both competitively and with family. In 1994 John was diagnosed with dementia (Picks Disease) and was forced to retire. John led a creative and active life, and even with his disease enlivened many events at home and in the community with his singing and desire to communicate. Community members welcomed John everywhere he went. Picks Disease finally forced John to enter the hospital on Friday, January 18th. He never regained consciousness. There will be a memorial service at the Owens Art Gallery on the Mount Allison University campus on Sunday, February 3rd, at 1:00 pm. Born in Newcastle, on March 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Amos and Edith (McLean) Hare. He was Roman Catholic by Faith and was involved in law enforcement for most all of his working career, commencing with the Newcastle Police Force, the Dept. of Highways (weights & measures div.) and the N.B. Highway Patrol. Following his retirement from law enforcement, he and his wife, Lois established the Half Way Inn Restaurant and Cabins, on the Plaster Rock / Renous highway, where Sonny could persue his love of the outdoors and cater to the needs of their guests and customers, which included hunters, fishermen, snowmobilers, truckers and tourists. Sonny was truly in his element with anything pertaining to the outdoors, wildlife and nature. He was a big man with a huge heart. He is survived by his wife, the former Lois McEvoy; one daughter, Rev. Judith Hare, of Winnipeg, Manitoba; three sons, Kevin Hare (Stacy), of Whitneyville, Chris Hare (Jackie), of Miramichi and Dennis Hare (Cheryl), of South Esk; one step daughter, Tracey Rabbe, of Calgary, Alberta; two sisters, Margaret Bertrand, of South Esk and Susan Kingston (Richard), of Whitneyville; two brothers, Ernest Hare (Patricia) and Reg Hare (Susan), all of Miramichi; four grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Dennis and Amos Hare. By Sonny's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The public are invited to attend a memorial service to be held from Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday, February 4, 2008, at 2 pm. Interment will be later in the spring. Né le 26 août 1963, il était fils de Roger Allain et d’Imelda Saulnier de Bouctouche. Outre son épouse et ses parents, il laisse dans le deuil trois filles: Martine, Julie et Josée; une soeur, Joanne Allain; trois frères: Ronald (Lisa Cormier), Jacques (Isabelle Collette) et Charles (Tina Bastarache), tous de Bouctouche. Omer était un athlète de marque de plusieurs disciplines. Il a été capitaine des Cavaliers de Clément-Cormier (champions provinciaux), ainsi qu’athlète masculin de l’année en 1981-1982. De plus, il a joué au sein de plusieurs équipes seniors de la région de Moncton, entre autres, les JCs de Bouctouche et les Packers de Miramichi. Il a aussi été entraîneur au niveau du hockey mineur, ainsi que des Vipers de Moncton. Omer comptait 25 ans de service avec la Fraternité internationale des chaudronniers-local 73. Omer était un fier papa, époux dévoué et ami cher. Il en a touché plusieurs avec son sens de l’humour, sa générosité et sa gentillesse. STROUD, Randall Henry 2008-02-01 We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our brother, Randy Stroud, on January 29th, 2008. Randy was born in 1958 in Fort William, Ontario. Later, the family moved to the Current River area in Port Arthur where Randy attended local schools. In the late seventies, Randy started truck driving like his dad and the highway was his home. He was born to be behind the wheel. Randy never married but adored his niece and nephew and they loved him. We will always remember Randy for his gentleness and quiet ways. Randy will be missed by his sister Barb (Ivan) Chaput of Fort St. John, BC, brother Jim of Milton, Ontario, nephew Justin Chaput of Fort St. John, BC and niece Angel (Doug) Pruden, and their children Kieran and Logan of Chetwynd, BC., along with numerous relatives in various parts of Canada. MENEAN, Domenico 2008-02-01 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their father Domenico Menean on Monday, January 28, 2008 at Pioneer Ridge. Born in Italy, he emigrated to Canada and began working as a forester in Baie Como, Heron Bay, and then Thunder Bay for Ontario Paper and Great Lakes Forest Products for 40 years. He was never happier than working - cutting and skidding in Northern Ontario winters trying to make "The Bonus". Dad we always enjoyed your stories of growing up on a small farm in the Dolomite Alps of Paularo, Udine; surviving being shot in WW II; working the coal mines in Belgium, coming to Canada, and life as a Woodsman in Canada. Dad, you will be dearly missed by your family, may God give you peace and rest. Jaclyn your grand daughter will miss picking apples from your backyard orchard, beans and cucumbers from your garden with you. Predeceased by his loving wife Giacomina. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Cindy (Steve) McConnell of Ottawa, sons: Mark (Tara) and Dennis (Christine), and granddaughter Jaclyn McConnell. MALEY, Edith Rae 2008-02-01 Edith Rae Maley, in her 82nd year, passed away January 4, 2008, in Bracebridge. Born and raised in Port Arthur, Rae attended PACI, joined the C.W.A.C. and was posted in WWII to Chiliwack, B.C. Rae and Barney, happily married for 50 years, lived most of their life in Beardmore. Rae was secretary at the L.C.B.O., Public school and for the Legion, where she and Barney were life members. Rae and Barney retired to Thornbury, and spent their summers at their home on Lake Nipigon. Rae enjoyed curling, gardening, knitting and playing cards and quilting. Her family all proudly own a RAE-made quilt to remember her. Cherishing her memory are daughters Azelda Bothwell (George), Althea Townes (Lorne), and Cindy Maley (Jamie McNeil); grandchildren Hugh, Stuart, Jordan, Byron, Justin, Meredith and Audrey Bothwell, Lisa Vivian (Dan), Sarah Townes (Mike Medori), and Alex Townes (Nicole Bergevin), great-grandchildren Keinan and Kaelin Vivian; step-great-grandchildren Conan Vivian (Brittney) and Kaylie, Brooklyn, Mandy, Amber and Marcus Medori. Rae also cared for many foster children. Predeceased by husband Barney Maley, sisters May Polly and June Storey, brothers Ralph, Ed, Lloyd and Stuart Christie, and granddaughter Meaghan Bothwell. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service for family and friends will be held on August 2nd at the beach.
