La famille Erdogan a le regret d'annoncer le décès de Jocelyne Plante 1950 - 2007 décédée le 9 décembre 2007, à l'âge de 57 ans. Elle était la fille de feu Jeanne Robillard et de feu Ronaldo Plante; la soeur de Gilles Plante de France. Elle laisse dans le deuil une tante, Jacqueline Robillard Burnette; sa marraine Rachel Guénette ainsi que plusieurs cousins et cousines. Outre sa famille immédiate, elle laisse dans le deuil sa famille "d'accueil” depuis plus de 14 ans: Chantal Fauvelle, Nail Erdogan et Luke-Dogan Erdogan, ainsi que Lise Beauparlant (Pierre Fortin), Serge Fauvelle et sa fille Bianka, Manon Fauvelle (Roch Saumure) et ses filles Jessica et Sarah, Roch Fauvelle (Natalie Vaz) et leurs fils Quentin et Anthony. Elle laisse également plusieurs ami(e)s en qui elle pouvait avoir confiance en tout temps, et qui ont été là pour Jocelyne. Merci à ses ami(e)s très cher(e)s du Centre des aîné(e)s de Gatineau et du Centre arc-en-ciel du mercredi, ainsi que sa grande famille du Centre de néphrologie du CHVO de Hull. Des remerciements chaleureux spécialement au Dr Guy Boivert et au Dr Antoine Farah, madame Hélène Hallé, travailleuse sociale, ainsi que tous les membres du personnel (Madeleine, Lucie, Josée, Martine et tous les autres) qui ont été là pour Jocelyne dans ses meilleurs et pires moments. Un merci tout spécialement à Danielle Langevin, ancienne infirmière maintenant à la retraite, qui était une grande amie de Jocelyne; Johanne Bergeron, travailleuse sociale du CLSC pour ses bons conseils, son appui continu et pour sa compassion envers Jocelyne durant toutes ces années de bataille qui a presque été gagnée!!!! Merci à Monsieur Lahaie, (Centre des bénévoles), un homme dévoué qui était responsable du transport de Jocelyne depuis plusieurs années. Jocelyne vous aimait tous!!!! Pour ceux qui le désirent "une fleur” serait appréciée; elles seront déposées dans un vase à l'église et par la suite sur sa tombe au cimetière. Des dons à la Fondation du rein sont également acceptés. Il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire. Une célébration de prières en présence des cendres aura lieu à 11h00 le vendredi 14 décembre 2007 en l'église St-François-de-Sales. La famille d'accueil recevra les condoléances à compter de 10h30. LUND, BRIAN S. - It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Shawn Lund, loving husband to Rosanne (Maloney), and amazing father to Jack (9) and Sarina (4). Also survived by his parents, Sally and Dr. Ed Lund; brothers, Stephen (Sandy), Michael (Linda), Sean (Dannette); sisters, Susan (Dr. Don Andrew), Kathryn (Jeff Drummond), Maureen (Bruce English); and several nieces and nephews, who worshipped their "Baynard". Brian was a GG (good guy). He established many valued friendships in his youth that extended throughout his adult years. Larger than life, he was always there to make you smile with a crazy story followed by his boisterous laugh. Brian had a huge heart and his generosity knew no bounds. His passion to help people shone through everything he did. He had an active interest in helping young people build self confidence, and achieved this through his work with the Rainbows Program and similar mentoring programs at area high schools. Brian lived life to the fullest - evident when he purchased a tent trailer this past summer after convincing Rosy that getting back to nature would be an incredible family adventure - indeed, he was right! As a financial advisor for Berkshire Investment Group, he followed the same principles and values with his clients as he did with family and friends. Concern for their well being was his top priority. He was a graduate of Saint Malachy's High School and St. Thomas University, and enjoyed sports, martial arts, working out, and, of course, his weekly visits to the movie theatre. Brian shared his love of travel with his brothers and sisters, hoping to one day see the world. Part of this dream was realized when he brought home his beautiful daughter Sarina from China, with the help of Susan and Sean. Additionally, this year, Brian was able to combine his love of teaching and for sport through coaching his son's Atom B Hawks hockey team. This was a very special time for Brian and Jack. Brian adored his family and they adored him - he will be truly missed. SIMS, Mervin Harold September 21, 1920 - December 8, 2007 Mervin Harold Sims, beloved husband of Winifred (Freda) of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Mervin was born on September 21, 1920 in Chilliwack, BC. He was educated in Vancouver which included two years at UBC studying Chemical Engineering from 1940 to 1941. Mervin enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and was posted overseas to the 418 Squadron as a fighter pilot flying the Mosquito Night Fighter. After completing a successful tour Mervin was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944 and was honourably discharged in 1946. Mervin then enrolled in the Royal Air Force in 1946 and he flew numerous types of aircrafts. In 1950 he met and married his beloved Freda Donnelly of Dundee, Scotland in Hamburg, Germany. In 1951, after completing his tour of duty with the RAF, Flight Lieutenant Mervin Sims was once again honourably discharged. Mervin and Freda then moved to Veteran, AB where they began farming and raising their family. In 1957 he moved his family to Calgary while continuing to farm in Veteran until his retirement in 1983. Mervin spent his retirement years in Calgary and continued to follow his passion of hiking and cross country skiing in the mountains with various outdoor clubs. Mervin is survived by his beloved wife Freda and by his devoted daughter Lesley; sons and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Patti, Clifford and Derek. MEICHEL, Clement (Clem) John May 21, 1922 - December 7, 2007 Clement (Clem) John Meichel passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved sweetheart Victoria and family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, December 7, at the age of 85 years. Clem was born on May 21, 1922 in Arbury, SK, to Marcella and Steven Meichel. After serving in the Canadian Army in WWII, he courted and married Victoria Nebogie in Drumheller, AB. Clem accomplished many things in his life including owning and running a restaurant, hotel, house painting company and collecting valuable antique treasures. Clem leaves behind to mourn, his loving wife Victoria; children, Daniel (Freela), Kenneth, David (Nann), and Katherine (Paul); grandchildren, Oneah, Fawn, Meadow, Nathan (Britt), Willow, and Terra; step-grandchildren, Holly, and Johanna; and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dylan and Jonas. WILHELM, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Beth, wife of Andrew Aitchison, died peacefully at Victoria Hospice on December 9, 2007 at the age of 45. Beth was born on January 23, 1962 in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to the coast in the early 1990's while working as a reporter for CBC radio. She eventually settled in Victoria, started a career in public relations, married and started her family. She was predeceased by her loving father Michael Joseph Wilhelm in 2006 and is survived by her husband, Andrew; sons, Matthew and Cameron; mother, Barbara; brothers, Michael (Beatrice) and son Nathan; David (Annette) and sons Steven and Daniel. WINCZURA, Andrew (Andy) November 27, 1921 - December 10, 2007 Andrew (Andy) Winczura of Calgary passed away on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Andy was born on November 27, 1921 in Drumheller, AB, the youngest of ten children. He was raised on a farm near Round Hill, AB. Andy enlisted with the Calgary 48th Highlanders during WWII and served overseas in England, Sicily and participated in the liberation of Holland. He returned to Canada with his war bride Johanna and raised two children John and Aleida. In 1956 Andy remarried, Victoria Scott and raised a family with her. Following the war Andy worked as a roughneck in the Alberta oil fields and later worked as a truck driver until he retired. Andy is survived by his children and their spouses, Randy and Karen Winczura, of Calgary, John Winczura and Andrea Stearns, of Alaska, Wendy and Victor Lockhart, of Calgary and Aleida and Claude Ray of California. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren in Calgary, Lyndsey and Brandon and his great-grandson Andrew. Andy was predeceased by his wife Victoria and son Richard. TOMS, Anne (nee Dowhan) July 12, 1930 - December 5, 2007 Anne Toms, beloved wife of Andrew Morris Toms of Calgary, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Anne was born on July 12, 1930 in the town of Thorhild, AB to Samuel and Katarina Dowhan. Anne married Andrew Morris Toms and moved to Calgary in 1956. Anne is survived by her husband of fifty-one years Andrew; her four children all of Calgary, James (Sandi) and their children Andrew and Matthew, Laurel (David Quinn) and their children Joshawa, Gregory and Kristie, Kathy O'Brien and her child Shannon and Elaine (Dean Gelowitz). She is also survived by her brother John Dowhan of Thorhild, AB; Elsie Schotz, of St. Albert, AB; Harry Dowhan of Edmonton, AB; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Anne was predeceased by her son-in-law Darren O'Brien. DAVIS-SHREVE, Leah Grace - Leah Grace Davis-Shreve, cherished youngest daughter of Evelyn Shreve and the late Jim Davis (1990), died Sunday, Dec. 9 in her 23rd year. Leah, who was also the adopted daughter of BlaShreveke , died at Toronto General Hospital after a brief illness. Born May 26, 1985, Leah will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, including sisters Rachel (Mark) McAuley and Anna Davis, as well as her nephews, Cordell Green Jr. and Casey Green, whom she adored. She is also survived by her grandparents Lyle and Hattie Davis of Dresden, and Dorothy Shreve, great-aunts Marg McNear of Blenheim and Jean MacKenzie of Chatham, Uncle Bryce and Aunt Sheila Shreve of Chatham, as well as her extended family and friends. Leah is predeceased by her grandparents Art and Muriel Campbell of Ridgetown, and her stepfather Derek Baker (2002). Leah will be remembered for her love of the arts, particularly theatre, and her interest in all things Scottish. She was a member of Theatre Kent and of the Robbie Burns Society of Toronto. She enjoyed travelling and enjoyed a summer studying in Ireland. She was also an unabashed trivia buff and had been working as a pharmacy assistant before her illness. Leah spent her early years in Blenheim, where she attended W.J. Baird School, before moving to Chatham where she attended both Queen Elizabeth and Chatham Christian schools. She later attended Weston Collegiate Institute and Humber College in Toronto. Visitation will be at the Ward Funeral Home at 2305 Weston Rd. in Toronto from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday from the funeral home. At Leah's request, she will be cremated and her ashes will be interred with her father, Jim Davis, and grandparents Art and Muriel Campbell at Greenwood Cemetery in Ridgetown. SMITH, William Louis “Bill“ - The family announces with deep sorrow, that Bill Smith, in his 80th year, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 9th, 2007 in Sudbury with his family by his side. Leaving behind his wife Hélène Smith (née Trottier), daughters Lee Anne Blais (Guy) of Chelmsford, Louise Koslik (Peter) of Newcastle and Diana Sullivan (Gorden) of Chelmsford. Loving grandfather of Natalie, Stephany, Laura, Eric, Ali, Maurisun, Lochlan and Maeva. Born in Chelvland, Ohio, USA, Bill had a life full of accomplishments. Not only a veteran of the US Navy, but on February 10th, 1969, Bill received an award from the hospital of St. John of Jerusalem The Priory of Canada, for his valuable assistance rendered in the furtherance of the work of the order in connection with the Priory of Canada from Governor General Roland Michener. Throughout his life Bill shared his artistic talents and abilities with many through his writing of short stories and plays. Locally he published a Christmas story in the Northern Life “The Kringle Franchise“. He also wrote and directed “The Enchanted Forest“ performed at the Sudbury Theatre Centre. Bill was also well known for his work at CKSO Television as a municipal affairs reporter and news commentator. Friends and family will sadly miss and strongly remember his fun loving sense of humor, playfulness, wisdom, strength, selflessness, love of the outdoors and fishing but most of all his big bear hugs. Evelyn Lavonia Allen 1916 - 2007 LITTLE SHEMOGUE, N.B. - Evelyn Lavonia Allen, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 9, 2007. Born on October 12, 1916 in Bayfield, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Anderson and Sadie (Briggs) Allen. After growing up in Bayfield, Evelyn spent the remainder of her life in Little Shemogue, N.B. As the wife of a fisherman and sawyer who was often absent from home, Evelyn looked after not only a growing family but also the family farm. An avid quilter and knitter, "Nana" was the mitten and slipper provider to her large extended family. Evelyn will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sheila Landry (Ulric) of Murray Corner, N.B.; sons, Parker, Urban (Joanne) and Lovitt (Sharon), all of Little Shemogue, N.B. and Bernell of Halifax, N.S.; sister, Mary (Allen) Walton of Fredericton, N.B.; daughters-in-law, Betty (Duggan) Allen of P.E.I and Miriam (Walton) Allen of Riverview, N.B.; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Baxter Allen in 1977; son, Stuart Allen in 1989; sister, Wanda (Allen) Murray in 1988; brother, Alton Allen in 2003; granddaughter, Brigette Trenholm in 1967 and great-great-granddaughter, Chastity Noonan Allen in 2005.
