BROW, ELDON LAWRENCE Eldon Lawrence Brow of Millville, cherished husband of 27 years to Dianne (Ryan) Brow, passed away December 9, 2007 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 5, 1957, in Antigonish, NS, he was the son of Leona (Pettipas) Brow and the late Adrian Lawrence Brow of Cape Jack, NS. Besides his wife and mother, Eldon is survived by two sons, Ryan (Crystal) and Josh of Red Deer, AB and one granddaughter, Celina; four sisters, Sharon Brow (Kelly) of West Lawrencetown, NS, Norma Brow (Jean) of Robert's Creek (Gibson), BC, Leisa Brow (Ronnie) of Havre Boucher, NS and Lorna Mann (Mike) of Penticton, BC; his grandmother, Irene Pettipas of Linwood, NS, several nieces and nephews Morgan, Tristan and Dylan Brow and Bethany and Hannah Mann as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his father, Eldon was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Catherine Brow, his maternal grandfather, Peter Pettipas and his parents-in-law, Stephen and Sarah Ryan. Eldon graduated from the College of Cape Breton as a Chemical Technician and was employed at AV Nackawic. He was an active member of the Local Union and Joint Health and Safety Committee. Eldon was a faithful blood donor, donating more than 80 times. He enjoyed motorcycling, all forms of outdoor activity, hunting, kayaking, processing wood and trips to the camp. Eldon served as a Cub and Scout leader in Nackawic for eight years and was a Lay minister at St. Simon and St. Jude Parish in Nackawic. Visitation will take place at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Church, Nackawic on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Father Brian Wetmore officiating. Interment will take place later in Nova Scotia. Pallbearers will be Kevin Myshrall, Donald Goodine, Lorne Goodine, Jimmy Fortune, Garth Morehouse and Dean Crossen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Havre Boucher, NS. SMITH, George - (WWII Veteran of the Royal Canadian Engineers) Ended his journey peacefully, December 5, 2007 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 85th year. Survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Moncrief) of more than 65 years. Forever loved dad of Beverly (Alois) Handlechner, Douglas (Ellenbeth), David (Carol) and Brenda (Perry) McConnell. Proud Grandpa of Rob and Rhonda, Denyse and Craig, David, Lisa and Chris, Jason, Sara and Jared- 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Survived by sisters Lillian (Cecil) Tivy, Joan (Carl) Collins, sisters-in- law Velma Smith, Teresa Smith, Hilda Smith and Jean Smith and many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents Harry and Florence Smith and brothers Harry, Ray, Stan, Ronnie and Billy. Known for his stubborn attitude and strong will, Dad battled skin cancer for the last 34 years and was ready to move on to a better journey. He remained stubborn until the end, even telling us to go home from the hospital before the roads got any worse. Dad proudly served his country overseas from 1942- 1945 so that his children and grandchildren could have a better life. During his time in Europe he sadly missed the birth of his first child Beverly. He could often be heard telling people that he finally met his first child when she was “3 years, I month and 3 days old“. After returning from the War, Mom and Dad made a living dabbling in farming and raising their own vegetables while Dad lovingly supported his family by working whatever job he could find. He later drove trucks for Deeth and White, the Co-Op and Westclox before his retirement. Driving in Parkhill Road he would often tell us how he met “the girl who lived across the road“ from where he worked as a young lad. They continued to “hang around“ for over 65 years. Dad loved nothing more than traveling the countryside (even if we were lost) and seeing new sights. He is now on a road trip free of discomfort and pain seeing even better sights. God speed Dad. We will forever love you and keep you tucked neatly in our hearts. At his request a private family graveside service has taken place. We would like to thank the Nurses in Emergency and on Hutch 2 for their caring ways and Dr. Rowsom for his guidance and compassion. PARKS, Clifford Maxwell - Passed away peacefully at PRHC Palliative Care on December 7, 2007 at the age of 68. He will be sadly missed by Jane (Sackrider), his wife of 43 years. He loved hunting, fishing and music. Evan loved to spend time with his family and friends. BAIRD, Margaretta Ruth (nee MacDonald) - passed away on December 7, 2007 at University Hospital in her 89th year. Born in Chatham, Ontario on August 1, 1919. Ruth was the beloved daughter of Leland S. MacDonald and Harriett (Goodlad) MacDonald. She was predeceased by her brother Lee William MacDonald, and her former husband and good friend Dr. Charles Baird. Ruth was the mother of two daughters Linda Ruth (Baird) Libis and Andrea Hope Baird-Parker, both of London, Ontario. She will deeply missed by her grandchildren Jeffrey Libis and wife Kimberly Crane-Libis, Michael Libis, and Jennifer Libis, by sons-in-law Barry Parker and Wally Libis, and close cousin James Romano. She will also be missed by her friends and relatives, especially her phone buddies who brought so much happiness to her later years. Ruth graduated in 1940 from Chatham Public General Hospital as a Registered Nurse and subsequently practiced her profession in Chatham, Owen Sound, Toronto and London. She had many interests including literature, travel, genealogy, music and enjoyed a passion for antiques and was an antiques dealer for a number of years. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank those who assisted her in living her final years independently and with dignity, including Joan Butler and Sara Renouf of CCAC, Stephanie King of VON, Shelley McPhee (RN), Jean Humphrey of Seniors for Seniors and Gloria Dawns of Senior Home Care By Angels. The family wishes to recognize the professionals who helped care for Ruth in her final days including the Palliative Care and Neurology teams at University Hospital. Special thanks also go to Dr. Mary Jenkins, Dr. Michael Shimizu, Dr. Gordon Dickie and Lynne Hughes Marsh (RN) along with her team whose consideration, care, and counsel were much appreciated. At the wish of the deceased there will be a private family funeral, and cremation has taken place. ERWIN, Bernice Agnes - “I have fought the good fight. I have kept the true faith“ - Late Saturday, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, and under the loving umbrella of her family, Bernice entered into her Eternal Life (December 8, 2007). Bernice, who was in her 90th year was a devoted wife for 52 years to Wallace (1997). Also, she was the sweet, loving HEART AND SOUL mom and grandma of her devoted family: Maryanne, Robert and Lara Cook of Sault Ste. Marie, Paul Erwin, Rosemarie, Ray and Danielle Robillard of Welland, Theresa, Sean, Lisa, Michael, Christina and Kimberley-Anne McNulty who had the privilege of sharing their lives and home with Grandma these past years; Gerard, Erik and Sam Erwin of Kitchener. Loving sister of Kathleen Ramsey of Bathhurst, New Brunswick and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father William Hussey and her mother Lelia Smith and seven brothers and sisters. Bernice was lovingly cared for these past years by Linda, Sandra and Amanda from Prowellness. March of Dimes was her second family with such caring from “Allison“, fun-loving “Bev“, Precious Sue, and the unforgettable “other daughter, friend Louise“. We thank you for giving mom laughter, love and friendship which filled her heart. Bernice was a member of Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church for 45 years. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Women's League helping out in her church as much as she could. Here she made many cherished and loved friendships. Bernice was a promoter of the Miraculous Medal of St. Catherine Labouré all her life. She was also a “Third Order Carmelite“ and promoter of Scapular. Grandma was a tireless promoter of the importance of the Mass, attending the sacraments, saying the Rosary, wearing the Miraculous Medal and the Blessed Scapular and offering up your day, sacrifices and penance for the Salvation of Souls and the Relief of the Souls in Purgatory. In that light we ask for Prayers, Masses, Rosaries for her departed soul. Bernice will be at the PATRICK J. DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL 39 Court Street at King. KERRIGAN, David Allan - David Kerrigan died suddenly at his home on Tilden Lake on Saturday, December 8, 2007 in his 64th year. He was the loving father of Lisa Kerrigan (David) of Sutton and Shawn Kerrigan (Jane) of Keswick, and grandfather of Angelo, Nathyn and Tripp. David was predeceased by his parents William and Lillian Kerrigan and his brother Leslie Kerrigan. DAVIS, Lise (née Meilleur) - Lise s'est éteinte doucement le 10 décembre 2007 à l'hpital Laurentien, Sudbury, Ontario. Lise était une femme et mère très dévouée et sa famille était toujours sa priorité. Lise considered her most precious gift, her family especially her daughters, Renée-Claude and Manon, for whom she will continue to keep a close eye on as she embraces eternal life. Lise was an avid teacher who devoted herself to all her students at l'École St-Augustin and l'École St-Albert. Her love and dedication to these students have touched their lives forever. Lise was a brave and courageous person who will be missed by her entire family. Épouse bien- aimée de Jean-Claude Davis.
