DRISDELLE, Pearl D. - Peacefully with her family at her side at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Sunday November 25, 2007 at the age of 82. Pearl, loving wife of the late Rudy (2005). Dear mother of Rick McCullouch and his wife Lucie, Linda and her husband Brian Ross, Debby and her husband Bill Jacobs and Bobby and his wife Lynn McCullouch. McQUEEN, Ian (Scottie) Wilson January 13, 1916 - November 24, 2007 Ian (Scottie) Wilson McQueen of Calgary passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the age of 91 years. Ian was born in Stonehaven, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1920 with his father John, his mother Mary and his brothers Ray and Herb. The family eventually settled in Calgary. Ian married the love of his life, Beatrice Williams, on June 25, 1940 in Calgary and they had two sons, Richard and Ralph. Ian started work at thirteen years of age, working at the Alberta Box Factory for ten years, until he took a welding course. He worked as a welder for West Steel and Demers and Chisholm until his retirement. Ian joined the Calgary Highlanders at twenty-nine years of age and went overseas, where he was a member of the forces that liberated Holland. Ian held a number of interests which included a love of fishing and duck hunting when young. He loved reading and was a very talented cook, silversmith and wood carver. Ian was an avid sports fan who loved the Calgary Flames. Ian and Beatrice were also long-time Stampeder football season ticket holders. Ian was a long term member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 1 and also played the snare drum in the Calgary Highlanders pipe band. Ian was a devoted family man with an easy smile who was proud to return to Doetinchem, Holland, in May 1995, as part of their tribute to the Canadian soldiers who joined in the city's liberation. Ian is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Linda McQueen and Richard McQueen (Sandra); three grandchildren Corey (Patty), Donna (Randy) and Todd, all of Calgary; great-grandchildren Caitlynn, Breanne and Jason. Ian is also survived by his ten other great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Max) and Doreen McQueen, Jimmy and Linda McQueen, Wilson (Wick) McQueen and by numerous nephews and nieces. Ian was predeceased by his first wife Beatrice (mother of Ralph and Richard), Virginia, Katherine; brothers George, Raymond, Freddie, Herb, Douglas, Dennis, Angus, Billie and Allister; and by his sisters May and Louise. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . MCKAY, Arthur John In his 97th year, after a long illness bravely fought, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Ottawa on November 24, 2007. Arthur John McKay was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the last surviving of four sons of Charles Spalding McKay (born 1865) of East Kilbride, Scotland and Jane Mary Alice Ashdown (born 1878) of Morden, Manitoba. Predeceased in 1993 by his beloved wife Amelia Alena Hetherington of Goderich, Ontario. Together they were the proud parents of Robert C. McKay (Myrtle) of Toronto and John M.A. McKay (Remy) of Ottawa. He was the much admired grandfather of Sonja Caroline McKay of Ottawa, David Alexander Raymond McKay now of Toronto, and Robert Justin McKay of Toronto. Educated at the Gordon Bell and Daniel McIntyre secondary schools in Winnipeg and through undergraduate work at the University of Chicago, Mr. McKay served the Government of Canada with distinction for 35 years in Ottawa, in Jasper, Alberta, and in Prince Edward Island mainly through Parks Canada and the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs. Following retirement in 1972, he maintained a full, active, and independent lifestyle until felled by a devastating stroke in 2003. He will be fondly and loyally remembered always by those who esteemed him most for his keen intelligence, curiosity, persistence, humour, kindness and never-failing affection. Arthur John McKay has finally gone to his peace. In keeping with his proud Scottish practicality, following cremation at Beechwood Cemetery he will be laid to rest near his late wife in Colborne Cemetery, Huron County, Ontario with a private family memorial service yet to be arranged. Ottawa arrangements are in the care of Ottawa Cremation Service and Beechwood Cemetery. Many, many thanks from the family to the very devoted staff of Saint Vincent's for their kindness and their professional care especially in his final weeks of need. BAGG, MARGARET STANWOOD (NEE DRUMMIE) - passed away peacefully at The Berkeley Halifax, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Gorden Bagg and her first born, Douglas Christopher. Missed dearly by her older sister, Frances Knight Clark of Saint John; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Douglas Robert and Gay Conrad of Halifax, Deryck Drummie and Cynthia of Toronto, and Margie MacDonald of Halifax; her grandchildren, Leslie, Jeremy, Amber, Tamara and Tyson; and her nieces and nephews, Thomas Clark (Roberta), Margie-Jean (Clark) Ouellette (Roger), William Bagg and Virginia (Bagg) Repei. Margaret was born in Saint John, NB in 1916 to the late Thomas Francis and Margaret Elizabeth (Knight) Drummie. She attended Netherwood School in Rothesay, New Brunswick, graduating with honours, and subsequently Dalhousie University, from which she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1937, and two years later, her Bachelor of Laws Degree. In 1939 she was admitted to the Bar in the Province of New Brunswick. While at law school, she met another law student, Douglas Gorden (Doug) Bagg of Montreal, and they married on the 6th of December, 1941, in the city of Saint John. Following the war the couple took up residence in Montreal until 1963 when the family moved to Norwood Street in Halifax. Margaret was always active, both in Montreal and Halifax, with a variety of projects, usually involving hospital auxiliaries, neighbourhood centres and other similar undertakings of value where her intelligence, knowledge, and great kindness would be of value. Her husband died in 1975 and for the next 30 years she ran the house on Norwood Street, which was always open to friends and guests, and known for its hospitality, warmth, and good cheer. She was active for many years in the Antiquarian Society, and continued to make many new friends which increasingly included the friends of her two sons, all of whom always held her in high esteem. In the late 1970's, she returned to Dalhousie University to do a Master of Laws, where she made friends with fellow students from around the world who continued contact with her for years after. She was a woman of intelligence, grace, humour, courtesy, and kindness, and as everyone knew, not an easy person to get the best of. Indeed, she was the finest example of the affection one receives when one treats others with grace and respect. She will be greatly missed, and we all are the richer for knowing her. Visitation will be at Snow's Funeral Home at 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, Friday, November 30th, 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A private family burial will follow on Saturday. According to her oft expressed wishes, a wake for all her friends will be held Saturday, December 1st. Her friends are invited to celebrate her time among us, and to indulge in good cheer, in the Masthead Room, Ryan Duffy's (Spring Garden Road) that Saturday from 7 pm to 11 pm. EASTMAN, Claudia Edith It is with deep sadness that the Eastman family bids farewell to a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Claudia E. (Bull) Eastman passed away on Monday, November 26th, 2007 after a long and valiant battle with cancer at the age of 71. She was the best friend and wife for 52 years of Donald Eastman and wonderful mom to Nancy (Roger) and Janet (Matt); cherished grandmother to Bryson and Nicole. Claudia was predeceased by her parents Sidney and Pearl Bull. Claudia received wonderful care from the nurses and doctors at the hospitals in Perth and Ottawa and especially from Dr. Manuela Joannou, Perth. The family would also like to thank the many friends who sent cards and visited Claudia in hospital over the last 7 weeks.
