McATHEY, Thomas Gordon - 1909-2007 - Passed away quietly on Sunday, November 18th, 2007 in his ninety ninth year. Born in 1909 in Montreal, Quebec he was the eldest child of Thomas and Janet McAthey formerly of Rutherglen, Scotland. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Mabel Ethelwyn McAthey and his sister Irene Bacon. He leaves behind his daughters Anne McFee and her husband Barry Eickmeyer of Sarnia and Margaret McLean of Toronto, grandson Gordon McFee and his wife Denise, and granddaughter Jennifer Valentine and her husband Graham, and Vanessa McLean of Montreal and great grandchildren Parker, Riley, Joshua and Rebecca. A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Quebec, Gordon's life interest was in Real Estate being controller of the former Westmount Realties (now Royal LePage). He was President of the Montreal Real Estate Board, Quebec Real Estate Board and Canadian Real Estate Board. After retiring from Royal LePage, Gordon and Ethelwyn moved to Kennebunkport, Maine where they spent fifteen happy years with their many friends enjoying the Maine coast. Among Gordon's many interests was his passion for golf where he excelled as Quebec Junior Champion and was a member of the Ryder Cup in 1928. A special thank you to all the staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa for all their generous and loving care. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Deanna Gibson officiating. Cremation will follow. ELLIOTT, ODBUR EDWIN At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on November 16th, Odbur Edwin Elliott, passed away peacefully. He just celebrated his 90th birthday. He lived his entire life on "Brick Hill" in Marysville (Fredericton), NB. He was the son of the late Leander and Zella (Gibson) Elliott and husband of Freda Venner-Elliott. Odbur was predeceased by his first wife, Marguerite (Blunston). He is survived by his sons, Carl (Barb)(Kolding) and Brian (Anne Arnold); grandchildren, Heather, Dawn, Edward; and his daughter, Bailey, (Odbur's great grand-daughter). He is also survived by his second wife, Freda (Venner- Elliott); her children, DeDe (Donnie) Carol (Leslie), Judy, Susan (Karl) and their families. Odbur is also survived by his brother, Norbert (Pauline) cousins, nieces and nephews. Odbur was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Baseball Team that won the Maritime Championship in 1937. He was involved for many years as a Town Councillor for Marysville where he has a Street named after him. He started his work life at The Cotton Mill and then joined Gibson's on Queen Street. When the Business moved to York St. he was one of the owners. He worked there until he retired, at the age of 78, when the business was sold. He truly enjoyed the many people he met. Odbur was an excellent father, and family man. He will be remembered for his honest advice, hunting stories at the camp, helping family and friends. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Sunday, November 18th, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 19th, at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery. No flowers by request. IREDALE, Norman Ridley 7 novembre 1919 - 16 novembre 2007 C'est avec une très grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès, ce vendredi 16 novembre 2007 à l'âge de 88 ans, de notre bien-aimé mari, père, grand-père et frère, Norman Ridley. Il est né et a grandi à Calgary (Alberta). Il a servi dans les RCAF de 1941 à 1946. Après avoir complété son service militaire, il a étudié à l'université de Queen où il a obtenu un diplôme en administration des affaires ainsi qu'à l'université de la Colombie-Britannique où il a obtenu son diplôme en droit en 1951. Norman a été admis au Barreau de la Colombie-Britannique où il a pratiqué brièvement et à celui de l'Alberta jusqu'en 1975, attitré au Conseil de la Reine en 1970. Il était franc-maçon et membre des Shriners. Il adorait la lecture, la pêche, la chasse et sa maison de campagne à Windermere. Norman laisse dans le deuil son épouse adorée depuis 61 ans, Aline; ses quatre enfants John (Patti), Don (Nina), Micheline Stainton (Tim) et Geoff; neuf petits-enfants Cammie, Scott, Jen, Lindsay, Greg, Jaime, Christine, Connor et Mackenzie ainsi que son arrière-petite-fille Maddie. Viola Grant 1920-2007 Grant, Viola passed away peacefully at the Lakeview Manor, Riverview on Saturday November 17th, 2007. Wife of Clayton Grant. Born in Kouchibouguac, daughter of the late Samuel and Nina (Tweedie) Kingston. Besides her husband, Clayton of 63 years, Viola will be sadly missed by one son, Terrance of Phoenix, Arizona; one granddaughter, Lacey of BC and her mother, Susan; one step grandson, Leon Stevens. She is also survived by her sister, Alma; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Viola was predeceased by her brother, Owen; and five sisters, Susie, Gladys, Eva, Deveda and Hilda. She was a member of Mount Royal United Church. Viola's passions were, Lawn Bowling, Candle Pin Bowling, Square dancing, singing with the seniors group as well as crafts and cooking. Donald Aggus June 04, 1920 - November 19, 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Aggus at McMaster University Hospital on Monday, November 19, 2007. He was born in North Bay on June 4, 1920. Don was a veteran of World War II having served four years in the RCAF. Don is sadly missed by his wife and best friend for 58 years - Mary Serena Aggus (nee Fleming); sons - Robin (Eva) (Stepson: Jakob); Kent (Gail) (daughter: Caome); sisters - Peggy Anderson and Sylvia Tomlinson: brothers Phil Aggus (deceased); and many loving nieces and nephews. Don had a passion for the railroads where he worked for 30 years on the T. H & B Railway, as an engineer. After retiring he pursued his hobby of sailing, purchasing a sailboat and also working on the John L. Agro as a steward showing off the Hamilton Harbour for the Port Authority. Don learned carpentry from his father and after marrying built his own house on 2 acres of land. Don and Mary loved to travel. They saw much of the world with their young sons and later with friends. Don was a past master of the Waterdown Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Eastern Star and Amaranth. He also belonged to the Shepherd Hunt Club. He was a generous man who loved to garden and cook to entertain family and friends. As an active member of the Rock Chapel United Church for 56 years he designed part of an addition to the building and helped create and cook many delicious meals there. MCCORMICK, Terry Grant - September 22, 1938 - November 19, 2007 Terry passed away at home in Kingston, ON, with his family at his side, on Monday, November 19, 2007. Lovingly remembered by his wife Beverly (Napier), daughter Marla Turner (Blaine), grandson Jarrod and granddaughter Logan. Predeceased by son Michael, parents Everett and Muriel (McKay) McCormick and brother Jim. Sadly missed by brothers-in-law, Guy Napier (Greta), Dan Napier (Bev) and Bill Napier (Betty), sisters- in-law, Elva McLean (Bill), Jean Napier and Dorothy Napier. Predeceased by Beverly's parents, Andy and Etta Napier, as well as her siblings, Irene, Betsy, Harve, Dave, Vern, Marguerite and Biddy. Remembered by many nieces and nephews, and his dog Sport. Terry joined the Royal Canadian Signals Corp as an Apprentice Soldier, 1955-1957, graduating with a trade as a Lineman. He accepted postings in Kingston, Alert, Egypt, Germany, CFB Gagetown and Lebanon, retiring from the military in 1980. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at KGH (Emergency, Connell 9 and Connell 10), especially Dr. Carol White, for providing excellent care. We are proud that our daughter works for such a professional and caring hospital. Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, CATARAQUI CHAPEL (1900 John Counter Boulevard). The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, November 22, at 1:00 pm., with Reverend Bill Whiston officiating. Interment at Sydenham Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a reception will be held at RCL Branch 631 (Bath Road at Collins Bay Road). HUMMEL, Leroy John - Suddenly, at North Bay General Hospital, on Sunday, November 18, 2007. He was in his 78th year. Leroy Hummel was predeceased by his wife Gladys Rita (nee Ulrick) (1928- 2006). McMORRAN, ALLEN BLANEY - Allen Blaney McMorran passed away at his residence, Heathland, Charlotte County, N.B. November 15, 2007. He was the husband of the late Sylvia Mae (Lowery) McMorran. He was the son of the late J.Blaney and Mabel Louise (Morrison) McMorran. He is survived by two sons, Daniel (Amanda) of New Maryland, N.B., Peter (Barb) of Fredericton, N.B.; one daughter, Sheila MacBeth (Robin) of Ripples N.B.; grandchildren, Brittany and Molly MacBeth, Jenessa Daigle, Finn McMorran, Bon and Myles McMorran; three sisters, Marion Rusnell of Oshawa, ON, Bessie Sauve (Ron) of Oshawa,ON, Thelma McMorran, St. Stephen, N.B.; three brothers, Franklin McMorran of Old Ridge, N.B., James McMorran (Sharon) of Lincoln, N.B., Windsor McMorran (Eadie) of Oshawa,ON. Lucinda Mills (Nelson) Lucinda Mills (Nelson) passed away on November 17, 2007 at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, Ontario, at the age of 90, following an intense battle with osteoporosis and an ongoing battle with cancer. She was born in Lower Cape, the daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Tingley) Nelson. Lucinda was a teacher. She was good at her job and fondly thought of by her fellow teachers and two generations of students. She taught in the New Horton, Parkindale, Nixon, Steeves Mountain and the Petitcodiac areas for many years. Although born and raised in New Brunswick, she spent much of her adult life in Ontario, the last decade or so in Creemore with her family. She loved people and travel, and her quilts have crossed the globe on many occasions. Hers was a familiar face at Creemore Farmers' Market for her baking, knitting and quilting. She played an active role in her family's lives and she will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her only daughter, Jean Mills Brownfield; son-in-law, Earl; and her precious grandchildren, Tyler and Caitlin; sisters, Martha Nelson and Marie Nelson both of Lower Cape, Frances Douthwright of Riverview, Ruth O'Blenis (George) of Boundary Creek; her brother, Clark Nelson (Marion) of Curryville; sister-in-laws, Pearl Nelson of Lower Coverdale and Geraldine "Gerry" Nelson of Stoney Creek. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Mills; and by her brothers, Roy and Jack. The family will be having private visitation. The Funeral Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at 4pm. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bob. DELUCA, Bruno - In loving memory of Bruno DeLuca, 75 years, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15th, 2007 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Beloved husband of Eliza DeLuca (nee Degan), father to Luigina DeLuca (predeceased), Corina Plonis (Leon), Brian DeLuca (Cecilia). Sadly missed by grandchildren Amelia and Elaina Plonis. Born on December 30th, 1931 in Roveredo in Piano, Italy. Resided in Sudbury since 1950. He was remembered as the local Barber from 1950 - 1972. He made a career change in 1972 as a Maintenance Mechanic for the Ministry of Government Services and retired in 1992. Bruno is remembered as someone who enjoyed gardening, mushroom picking, and dancing. He was creative and liked to work with various crafts and home improvements. She will also be sadly missed by fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews, many other relatives and numerous friends. She was a graduate of the St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing and Concordia University (BA RN). She spent most of her professional life working as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in various supervisory positions, including the operating room. She was involved in many extra curricular activities and was especially interested in music. She had been a member of the Island City Singers, the Arcadians and most recently the Lyric Theatre Singers.
