CASAGRANDE, Nicola “Nick“ - Passed away peacefully at Valley Park Lodge on Sunday November 18, 2007 in his 95th year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Angela and his five children; Bruno (Annarosa), Teresa Pierre, Virginia McGarry, Mary Eve (Richard) and Joe; his grandchildren Rachel McGarry (Adam), Jennifer McGarry, Tanya Pierre, Daniel Pierre, Lance Casagrande and Travis Casagrande; his brother Giocondo in France; his sisters Caterina and Elisa in Italy and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and France. Nick was born in Gorgo al Monticano, Treviso, Italy on May 30, 1913. He was one of thirteen children born to Giuseppe and Giuseppina Casagrande. He served in the Italian Army and emigrated to France with Angela after World War II , then to Canada along with their three older children in 1952. A kind, gentle and generous man, Nick never hesitated to help all in need. He used his own experiences of adversity to cultivate a heart full of compassion. A long time employee of Provincial Crane, he performed his work diligently and with a quiet dignity. Over the years he was an active member of St. Ann's, St. Patrick's and Our Lady of the Scapular churches where he performed Sunday ushering duties, was an altar server and a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society and a church bingo volunteer. Nick was also a member of Club Italia. His family will remember him for his love and concern, his quiet strength, his humourous stories, his love of his garden and winemaking, his simple, unassuming ways and acceptance of all life's challenges with faith and grace. Nick was a proud citizen of his adopted land and was always grateful for the opportunities in what he called “the best country in the world.“ Rest in peace, Nick. We love you. Donald (Dick) John Sheppard February 02, 1923 - November 15, 2007 On Thursday, November 15, Dick passed away at Concordia Hospital with his family at his side. He was born in London, England on February 2, 1923, the only child of the late Clara and John Sheppard. Dick was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his wife Bernice; daughters Carol Hildebrand (Garry) of Winnipeg and Donna Sheppard (Brian) of Vancouver; granddaughters Karin Hildebrand (London, England) and Krista Siemens (Ian) of Winnipeg. Also, he will be remembered by brother-in-law Reg Smith (Winnipeg); sister-in-laws, Edna Pitman and family (Flint, Michigan) and June Smith and family (Winnipeg); cousin Pamela Dixit (Suresh) and family (Woodstock, Ontario). He is also survived by extended family and friends in Canada and England. Dick served as a navigator in the RAF during World War II, flying on missions in Europe, Burma, India and Africa. During Dick’s RAF training in Manitoba, he met Bernice and they married on September 27, 1947 after his discharge from the service. Dick worked as a machinist at the CNR Transcona shops for 12 years and then joined the Corrections Service in 1959, retiring from Stony Mountain as Assistant Warden in 1986. Dick enjoyed many activities including curling, golfing, running, bowling and tennis. He was a member of the Wartime Pilots and Observers’ Association, the West Kildonan Legion Branch No. 30, the Accident Prevention Association of Manitoba and worked for the Winnipeg Police Community Volunteer Program after his retirement. He will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather, a respected coworker and good friend to many. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway. DAUDELIN, Patrick (Pat) - On Thursday November 15, 2007 at his residence, in his 58th year. Loving Brother of Leo (Mary), of Welland, Andre (Doreen) of Stevensville, Real (Jean) of Fort Erie, Albert (Sharon) of Welland, Yvette Blais (Raymond) of Niagara Falls, Rita Shute of Port Colborne., and twin sister Patricia Surrette (Jim) of Welland, He was Uncle Pat to many nieces and nephews. Precedeased by parents Yvonne & Archibald Daudelin, and brother Roland (Blackie) Daudelin. Pat worked at the Cotton Mill for many years and then at Filter Fab in St. Catharines, where he retired due to his ill health. He loved motorcycles and camping, most recently he enjoyed doing the crossword puzzles, and talking with people at the Tim Hortons in Port Colborne. Patrick will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main St., Welland, Tuesday November 20, from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. Funeral service will Follow at the Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. BOUCHER-BERNARD, Gisèle 1936-2007 Infirmière de profession, Gisèle Boucher-Bernard fut une épouse, mère et grand-mère dévouée, femme exceptionnelle pour qui la famille était la plus grande valeur. Gisèle nous a quittés le 17 novembre 2007 à l'Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis à l'âge de 71 ans. Elle était l'épouse de monsieur Randolph Bernard et demeurait à Lévis. WHITE, Herbert F. - Passed away suddenly at the John Noble Home on Friday November 16th, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Husband of Joan (nee Savory); loving father of Barbara (Jay) Flicks and Bill (Joanne) White; proud grandfather of Jason and Brent Flicks and Alex and Graham White; brother of Allan (the late Olive) White and Olive (Skip) Pulham. Herb worked at the family bakeshop, the White Bakery, from the age of fourteen until its closing. He was an award winning marksman and a founding member of the Brant Revolver and Rifle Club. He was proudly involved with scouting for many years and a member of the Brant Hunt Club at Hartley Bay where he enjoyed fishing every year. The family would like to thank the staff at the John Noble Home for their wonderful care over the past few years, especially everyone on Grand Terrace. DUNN, Erle William - In loving memory of Erle William Dunn, 90 years, who passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 17th, 2007 at the Extendicare York. Beloved husband of Annie McCrae (Boyd) Dunn predeceased 1993. Loving father of David (wife Linda) of Lively, James Merle (wife Audrey) and John Wilfred of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather to Jennifer (husband Richard), Joan, Katharyne, Matthew and great grandchildren Sophie and Evelyn. Born in St. Catharines, he married his wife in Sudbury, in 1938. Erle worked as a divisional Foreman at the INCO Frood Stobie Mine for 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was an excellent athlete and bowler. Erle loved to golf especially with Dave and his friends. He was a member of the INCO Quarter Century Club and a life member of the Caruso Club Golden Age Club. He will be sadly missed, but always remembered with love as a special Grandpa and Great grandpa.
