Born in North Minto, NB he was the son of the late George and Josephine (Mayne) Walsh. Survived by sons, Larry Walsh (Carlotta) of Musquash, NB, Allen Walsh (Debbie) of Minto, NB and Arnold Walsh (Barbara) of Midland, NB; daughters, Lorraine LeBlanc (Victor) of Rothesay, NB, Christina McFarlane (Duane) of Fredericton, NB, Shawna Doherty (Mike) of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Barbara Currie of Rothesay, NB; brothers, John Walsh (Joyce) of Hamilton, ON, Gerald Walsh of Shubenacadie, NS and Bobby Walsh (Vicky) of PEI; sisters, Alice Darrah of Chipman, NB, Annie McAllister of Minto, NB and Rose Thompson of Minto, NB; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Joe began his career in education with the Crowland Township School Area #1 as a Physical Education Supervisor. In 1955, he taught at St. Charles School in Thorold. Joe was the founding principal of St. Christopher's School in St. Catharines, marking the beginning of his career as principal in Catholic schools, which spanned 30 years with the Lincoln County Roman Catholic School Board. He also sat on various boards, including the Thorold Township Roman Catholic Separate School Board, where he was on the committee for the formation of the Welland County Roman Catholic Separate School Board. He later became a member and chairman with the newly formed Niagara Catholic District School Board. While serving on the Thorold Board, Joe was their representative on the Denis Morris Board of Governors where he served for 22 years. Joe also sat on the Regional and Thorold Council, the Niagara Escarpment Commission and the Bruce Trail Association. Joe was a WWII Veteran, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #17, Thorold and a Member of the Sacred Heart Council #2319 Knights of Columbus. FRAPPIER, Andre (Andy) - After a short but courageous battle with cancer Andre (Andy) Frappier passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital with his family by his side on Saturday, November 10, 2007. Dick retired from Canadian National Railways in 1992 as Locomotive Engineer after many years of service running steam engines and diesel engines hiring on as a Machinist's Helper in the Capreol Shops. A proud Canadian he served in the R.C.A.F. during the Korean War, he was a member of the Capreol Royal Canadian Legion and a volunteer Firefighter for the Town of Capreol and 4th Degree Knight (Our Lady of Peace Church). He enjoyed hunting with his brother in law Glen, nephew Murray and friends and also fishing and golfing with family and friends. Dick enjoyed puttering around his workshop and maintaining his vehicles. Sister Carolyn Schan - (Sister M. St. Armand) - It is with great sadness that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the sudden death of Sister Carolyn Schan (Sister St. Armand) on Sunday, November 11, 2007, in Nairobi, Kenya. Born in Fort William, Sister Carolyn entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in February 1959. Sister Carolyn continued her education completing a B.A. and M.Ed. at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay. Sister Carolyn's teaching career took her to Nassau, Sudbury, Fort William, Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay serving as teacher, vice-principal and principal. Following retirement from the position of vice-principal at St. Joseph's-Scollard Hall, North Bay, Sister Carolyn responded to a call to become involved in missionary work. Her missionary zeal, combined with a concept of Church' went beyond the boundaries of our catholic tradition. Sister Carolyn became a volunteer with the Mennonite Central Committee in Bolivia where she worked in Community Development as Director of an orphanage and later in establishing library programs. In 1994, Sister Carolyn moved to Kenya where she lived and worked with Maasai women supporting and assisting them in marketing their handcrafts. It was here that Sister Carolyn also assisted in the development of a girls' school named Restore Hope enabling girls to acquire the necessary skills to support themselves and their families. Sister Carolyn embraced the Maasai people, culture and language with sensitivity, compassion and concern. She will be remembered and celebrated as educator and missionary committed to justice for all. Predeceased by her parents, Rae and Alice Schan, and her sister Sharon Mintenko (Billy, deceased), Sister Carolyn is survived by her brothers Raymond (Judy), Andy (Stephanie) and Michael and her sisters Margaret Mills (Chuck), Wynn Capricci (Laurie) and Barbara Schan (Bob Andrews), several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her extended Maasai family Agnes and her grandson Raymond. The body of Sister Carolyn will be received at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 18th, in the Holy Family Chapel, ST. JOSEPH'S MOTHERHOUSE. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday evening.
