KOPPES, Ron - Passed away peacefully at his home Friday, November 9, 2007 in his 43rd year. Beloved son of John and Corrie Koppes of Chatham. Precious father of David and Stephen Koppes. Also survived by his brother John and wife Teresa of Chatham and his sister Nancy and Ray Provost of Chatham. Ron will be sadly missed by nieces Lisa, Tina, Julie, Kristin and Rachel. Predeceased by Beate Koppes, loving mother of David and Stephen. He will also be deeply missed by his wife and friend Lidija Drakulovic-Koppes. Numerous friends and relatives will feel the loss of Ron, most of all by dearest friends Jay and Shelly Storey. His faithful dog Max will miss their long walks together. Ron was born and raised on a farm in Raleigh Township, which is where he first started selling cars. He opened his first car dealership in Chatham in his early twenties which grew into a successful business that thrived for over twenty years. Over the years Ron was a proud and generous supporter of numerous charities and sponsored many youth athletic teams. Ron was remembered privately at a family service. Interment in St Anthony's Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes Association. KORMENDY, Thomas M. (Tom) - A resident of R.R.7 Blenheim, Tom Kormendy passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, November 9, 2007 at the age of 52. Born in Chatham, beloved son of Mary (Majek) Kormendy of Blenheim and the late John Kormendy Jr. Predeceased by his wife Diane (Fuller) Kormendy (2004). Father of Rose Kormendy of Welland, Tom Kormendy Jr. of Toronto, and predeceased by infant son Tommy (1974). Also survived by his step-children Jason Levert of Chatham and Shana Levert of Chatham. Tom will also be missed by his sisters Helen Reeves and Tom Hazlett of Blenheim, and Nancy Kormendy and Mark DeLaet of Blenheim. Son-in-law of Gil and Shirley Fuller of Watford, and brother-in-law of Gord Fuller of Petrolia. Uncle of David Reeves, Steven DeLaet, and Sara DeLaet. Tom farmed in Harwich Township for 10 years. AYLETT, Kelly Ok Joo - May 13,1976 to November 6, 2007 - The Aylett family celebrates the Spirit of Kelly as she will continue to live on in our hearts, memories, and future lives. She is many things to all of us, but primarily a loving partner to Aderyn Bran, a daughter to Alan and Kathy, a sister and a best friend to Heather (Rob McCombie), Ami and Anna, a first time aunt to Max McCombie, and a friend to many. She was truly a free and independent spirit from day one of her life with our family. BOETTGER, William Thomas Tom Retired Constable Ontario Provincial Police - After a lengthy illness with brain cancer, retired Constable Tom Boettger passed away at his North Bay home on Saturday November 10th, 2007. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Cockerline), for 46 years and loving father of Cheryl Atkinson (Gary), Tracey Boettger, (Myles McIssac), brother of Orma Bain (Murray - deceased), Jean Ross (Charles - deceased), Gayl (Garfield); dear son in law of Avice Cockerline (Percy - deceased), brother in law of Barry Cockerline (Carolyn), Dawn Zaversenuke (Michael), uncle to many nieces and nephews and special grandpa to Bo. Tom was the only son of the late William & Lila Boettger, Magnetawan. Following his retirement from the O.P.P. Tom served as a Special Constable with the North Bay Police force for a number of years. Tom's caring ways will always be remembered by his family and friends. The family is very gratefully to Dr. Mike Leckie and the staff of Paramed for the special care given to him. COBB, Stanley Rae - Following a brief illness, Stanley Cobb, formerly of Powassan, died peacefully at Henderson General Hospital, Hamilton in his 44th year. Stan was the beloved son of Mae Cobb of Beeton and Phillip Cobb of Powassan. He was the much loved brother of Roy Cobb (Cindy) of Salt Springs, N.B., Albert Cobb (Gwen) of Powassan and Martha Wilton of Beeton. Stanley was predeceased by his sister Grace Cobb. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and “brothers” from his time as a Big Brother in the North Bay area. The Cobb family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Monday, November 12, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. WALSH, Douglas - The Walsh family sadly announces Doug's death at the North Bay General Hospital on Saturday November 10th, 2007 following a brief illness. For the past 56 years Doug was the beloved husband of Alva “Toots“ (Parker) whom he married at Uno Park in 1951. The proud and loving father of Barry of Hamilton, Brenda (Cathy Rennie) of North Bay Michael (Deb) of Ottawa and Tracy of Temiskaming Shores, he will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jason, Randy, Jamie, Kelly, Ryan, Mark, Joshua, Skyler and Melissa and his great grandsons Hunter and Riley. Predeceased by his son Ken, and sister in law Shirley Lamb (late Pat), he will also be sadly missed by his son in law Ron Huard of Temiskaming Shores, brother Norman Taylor of Toronto, and sisters in law Jean Parker and Elsie Josefowich (Dan), both of North Bay. Born in Accrington, England Doug emigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 3. A teacher and educator by profession his teaching career began in New Liskeard in 1949. In 1955 he moved his family to London, Ontario then returned to New Liskeard Secondary in 1964 to become Vice Principal. Doug remained with the Temiskaming Board of Education until his retirement. A dedicated husband and father Doug was happiest puttering around the house or cottage. He enjoyed working with his hands and always had a renovation project on the go. Whether it was wiring, plastering, painting or plumbing he was always there for his family and friends when they needed help with new projects. He dearly loved his Rib Lake cottage and lovingly cared for it over the years. A community minded man he served with the RCAF during the war, and was an active member of 422 Wing, and the Legion. He volunteered with the Canadian Mental Health Association and was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Andrew's United Church. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held in St. Andrew's United Church on Wednesday November 14th at 11:00 am. Internment of his ashes to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. MURRAY, Kathleen (Kay) (Meehan) - (August 9, 1928 - Friday, November 9, 2007) - Wife, mother, grandmother, and Irish beauty, Kathleen whose intuition, faith, and indomitable courage informed her family's conscience, passed away early Friday morning, at Wyndham Manor, in Oakville, just six months after the passing of Finn, her beloved husband of 57 years. From her immediate family she leaves behind her children, Kathleen (Paul) of Markham, Una, Bernadette (Michael) of Grafton, Joseph (Patricia) of London, Therese (Paul) of Naples, Florida, and Vincent, (Kathy) of Oakville. Beloved Grandma of Amanda, Julia, Tom, Andrew, Therese, Brittany, Veronica, and Maria. Kathleen, born in Ladyrath, Co. Meath, Ireland, emigrated to post-war Birmingham, England and revelled in the arrival of each of her babies. Kathleen's mission in life was to promote and instill the love of education in her children. Her pioneer spirit took her to the melting pots of Little Italy, Little Portugal, and Corktown, Toronto, as well as small town Oakville and Grafton, meeting up with people and cultures she would grow to love the rest of her life. She was a great fan of 50's cinema, CFRB and East Coast music and she retained her spontaneous appreciation for the beauty of everyday moments. WIESNER, TONYA LEE- Tonya Lee Wiesner, (nee Algee), 49, of Central Hampstead, Queens County, New Brunswick and formerly of Newtonville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, passed away November 9, 2007, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Berwick, Nova Scotia, she will always be the beloved daughter of Austin and Erma (McDow) Algee. Besides her parents, she is also survived by her son, Charles Keddy (Rebecca) of Northern Quebec; life-partner, Larry Slipp and his children, Valerie, James and Laura; several special aunts, uncles and many true friends, many of whom traveled from far and near to visit during her illness. Tonya was predeceased by her brother, Austin Mark Algee; maternal grandparents, Lena and Arnold McDow; paternal grandmother, Nellie (Harold) Porter; and paternal grandfather, Alden (Beatrice) Algee. Prior to moving to New Brunswick, she was employed as a Business Manager at the Annapolis Valley Work Activity Center, in Nova Scotia. At the time of her illness she was self-employed as a Business Manager and was very involved with the promotion and marketing of organic farm products with her life-partner. Wherever Tonya resided she became active in community organizations, including Rotary and Lions Clubs and also sat on the Board of the Orchard View Nursing Home and was active in groups concerning women's abuse issues and education of the under-employed. She will be remembered for her welcoming, hospitable nature, her sense of humor, her love of cooking and crafts and being a faithful and true friend. A celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. at the Central Hampstead Baptist Church, Central Hampstead, New Brunswick, with Rev. Mark Todd officiating. A celebration of her life will also be held at White's Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 2:00 P.M., followed by a reception. SALTERIO, ESTHER MILDRED, beloved wife of the late Earl Joseph Salterio, passed away on November 8, 2007 at the age of 76. Esther was born in Saint John, NB on August 28, 1931. Esther followed her husband through his career at Scotia Bank to points in the Maritimes and Calgary Alberta. After Earl's death in March of 2005 Esther relocated to Halifax, NS where she resided independently until her death. Esther will ever be missed by her sons, John (Christine) of Halifax, NS and by Dr. Steve (Leslie) of Kingston, ON. Esther will also be missed by her loving grandchildren, Nicholas of Halifax and Alexander of Kingston. Esther is also survived by brothers, Reynold (Sandra) and Ronald (Doris) MacKenzie all of Halifax. Her sister, Muriel Finnamore of Fredericton also survives Esther. McKIEL, LEONARD WILLIAM 'BILL' - The death of Leonard William 'Bill' McKiel, husband of the late Dorothy Irene (Gaynes) McKiel, occurred on November 10, 2007 at his residence, Ridgewood Veteran's Wing. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late William Carey and Mabel Alice (Love) McKiel. He retired from the Province of New Brunswick in 1984. He served overseas during WW II as a Petty Officer, was a charter member of the Main Brace Club and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #14. He was a member of St. Pius X Parish and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council # 6581 and was an active member of the Friends of St. Joseph's. He was a former member of Thisle St. Andrews Curling Club. Surviving are sons, William M. of Innisfail, AB, John Douglas (Theresa) of Hampton, Paul R. (Anne) of Dartmouth, NS; daughters, Donna Marie (John McDermott) of Dartmouth, NS, Mary Susan (James Gatien) of Grand Bay- Westfield, Collen Marie of Hampton; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. BISSON, JOSEPH 'HENRY' GEORGE - The death of Henry Bisson, husband of Ruby E. (Kierstead) (Pattman) Bisson, occurred on November 9, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Grosse Isle, Quebec he was the son of the late George and Charlotte (Sheppard) Bisson. His father was in the Department of Immigration and the family lived on Partridge Island before moving to Saint John. Between 1940-42 he belonged to the 15th Service Battery in Saint John at the Partridge Island Garrison. Henry joined the Canadian Army in 1942 serving with the North Shore Regiment in France, Belgium and Holland, being wounded in battle, before returning to Saint John. He worked at Magee's grocery, National Packing and the Dominion Store and was with the Corps of Commissionaires for 19 years. He was a member of 53 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his children, Timothy Bisson (Crystal) of Kingston, ON, Cathy Duncan (Michael) of Turtle Creek, NB, James Pattman (Deborah) of Saint John, Paul Pattman (Debra) of Saint John, Kevin Pattman (Shirley) of Quispamsis; sister, Alice Johnson (Cameron) of Ottawa, ON; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Betty Proulx; sister, Georgianna; and his first wife, Edith. BARTLETT, MIRIAM ANNE - widow of the late Maurice E. Bartlett passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 10th, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. Miriam Anne was born in 1926 in New Westminster, B.C to the late George and Miriam (Lloyd) Wakeling. Because her mother died at birth, she was raised by her grandmother in London, England, returning to BC at age 6. Anne worked as a nurse, until her husband returned from the Navy. They were married in Grand-Bay in 1945. Anne was a devoted wife and mother; generous, caring, a true friend, unforgettable. She is survived by three daughters, Bronwyn (Scott) Crandall, Megan, and Myfanwy Bree (Michael Gormley); and sons, Rhys and Owen. As well as six grandchildren, George, Judson, Caleb, Wren, Taylor and Hilary; brother, Rev. Lois W. Weldon SACKVILLE, N.B. - Lois Waterson Weldon of Sackville, N.B., passed away suddenly on Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. The daughter of the late William G. and Nell Struensee, she spent her childhood in St. Stephen, N.B. While attending Mount Allison University, she met her late husband James Weldon, the love of her life. A warm, caring and vibrant wife and mother, her highest priority was ensuring a healthy and happy home for her husband and children. She had many interests through the years: I.O.D.E., volunteering, golf, curling, auction sales, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and bridge. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and was delighted to have a great- granddaughter. Harold E. Carey SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - In loving memory of Harold E. Carey, who passed away November 8, 2007 at his home in Saratoga Springs, New York, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by two sons, Paul (Laurie) of Orangeville, Ont, David of St-Philippe; one sister, Millie Petitpas, of Midland, Ont.; two brothers, Joe Arsenault of Ste-Marie de Kent, Antoine (Phyllis) of Moncton; five grand children, Cheryl, Christine, Michael, Tyrone, Desirée; three great grandchildren, Alex, Mark and Rowan. Walter William Bulmer AMHERST, NS - It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Walter William Bulmer age 67 of Amherst on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Georges-L Dumont Hospital, Moncton, NB, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Aulac, NB, he was a son of Gladys (Carter) Bulmer of Amherst and the late Gordon Bulmer. Walter was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Eric Stiles in Aulac, NB and for 21 years for the Department of Transportation, Port Elgin, NB. Known as a # 1 Dad and Papa, Walter was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest. Whether he was gardening, enjoying his fishpond or simply skating on it with his grandchildren, he will be missed for his sense of humor and outlook on life. Some will remember Walter from the auctions or simply puttering around at home. He will be sadly missed by all. RIVA, John It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Riva at the Rockyview Hospital on November 10, 2007. John was born in the Canmore Hospital on May 14, 1937. He was involved throughout his life in hockey, first as a player, then as a coach and fan. After working in Alaska, he was employed in the oil patch as a geologist. John then became an instructor at SAIT for thirty-five years until his early retirement due to illness in 2002. John lived his life with integrity and compassion; his independent spirit and love of life and family, good food and music will live on in all who know him. His honesty, determination, and fairness made him the best father, grandfather and husband. Steven Hector MacKay May 27, 1955 - November 09, 2007 Peacefully on November 9, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home surrounded by his loving family, our husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle and brother, Steven Hector MacKay, aged 52, passed away while in the arms of his wife, Thelma and his mother, Jessie. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Thelma; his daughters, Jennifer, Viola and Sophia; step-children, Kevin (Lorri), Terina (Jeff) and Melinda (Eric); grandchildren, Eden, Ashley, Paige, Monique, Faith and Lawson; his mother, Jessie; brothers, Bill (Chris), Gary (Rita), and Dan (Cheryl); 12 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Steve was predeceased by his father, Harry; and by his sister, Penny. Steve was a great athlete. He especially enjoyed playing hockey and golf. He would train all year to compete in the annual Treaty marathon race, which he won several times. Steve loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He would take them on camping trips, and he taught them to play the piano. Steve worked as a mechanic for 30 years, and then went on to become a health care aide. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Gary Harding, Steve’s nurse Cindy, the home care nurses, especially, Cheryl Kohoko, the Percy E. Moore Hospital staff, Sister Agnes Jolicoeur from Fisher Branch who always came to pray for Steve (and performed communion with Steve), Ozzie and Freda Thomas who came to visit often while he was sick, and our family and friends. LAMARCHE, Lucien 1926 2007 - C'est avec un profond regret que la famille annonce le décès de Lucien, après une courte maladie, à lHpital de Timmins et du district le 10 novembre, à la toute fin du jour, entouré de sa famille. Il y a quatre ans décédait sa mère. Outre son épouse Pierrette Lamarche (née Quiriault) à qui il était marié depuis 58 ans, il laisse dans le deuil les enfants dont il était tellement fier et pour qui il était un véritable mentor : Michelle Natale (Joe) de Sudbury, Guy (Nicole Cossette) de Timmins et Dr Johanne Lamarche (Christopher Hardinger) de Berwyn, PA. Grand-papa bien-aimé de Vanessa Rukholm de Guelph, Jessica Natale de Victoria, Colombie-Britannique, Richard Lamarche d'Ottawa, Sébastien, Stéphane et Tristan Hardinger de Berwyn PA. Il laisse aussi deux arrières petits-enfants Wilson et Deacon Lamarche d'Ottawa. Prédécédé par ses parents Albert et Bernadette Lamarche ainsi que ses frères Rolland, Donald et Guy. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil ses beaux-frères et ses belles-soeurs : Laurette Lamarche, Thérèse Lamarche, Darlene Lamarche, Isabelle Gagnon, Agathe Collin, Jeanette Chabot, Roger Quiriault, Bertrand et Carmen St Cyr, Charles et Raymonde Quiriault, Yoland Grégoire, Reynald et Noëlla Quiriault, Suzanne Trempe, Gilles et Dolores Rivard et Denise Sanche, ainsi que plusieurs nièces, neveux, cousins, cousines et de très bons amis. Il fut aussi prédécédé par ses beaux- frères Jean-Baptiste Quiriault, Camile Gagnon, Edgar Collin, André Paquin, Claude Trempe, Gilbert Sanche et Laval Chabot et ses belles-soeurs Norma Lamarche, Simone Paquin, Yolande Grégoire et Simone Quiriault. Lucien a su s'engager ardemment dans sa communauté. Ainsi, il a été placier à léglise Notre-Dame de Lourdes pour plus de 40 ans, président de la ligue Sacré-Cur de la paroisse Notre-Dame de Lourdes pendant 10 ans, membre du Conseil de direction de l'ancien hpital Sainte-Marie de Timmins et ex-président de Life Underwriters. Il se faisait aussi honneur d'être membre du Club Richelieu de Timmins depuis 1970 et pour lequel il a été président en 1973. Lucien a de plus servi à titre de gouverneur et administrateur du Club Richelieu International. Il a participé à la Fondation Richelieu et il a été reçu membre du prestigieux Cercle Horace Viau. Lucien a aussi travaillé pour Morisette Drilling of Haileybury à la mine Dome pour plus de 25 ans. Il est retourné à l'école pour devenir agent d'assurance-vie pour London Life oil a oeuvré pendant 10 ans et pendant lequel il a reçu de nombreux prix pour ses accomplissements. Lucien a pris sa retraite en 1981 et il a vite retrouvé le calme en passant les hivers à Hollywood, Floride. Il en profitait alors pour vanter les mérites de la ville Timmins ainsi que la région du Grand Nord. Pendant ses mois d'été, il se faisait <0> inspecteur officieux des lieux de Chartrand Equipment. La famille offre ses remerciements aux médecins Champion, Malo et Labelle. Elle reconnat vivement toute l'équipe chirurgicale de l'Hpital de Timmins et du district. A la demande de Lucien, et désirant respecter ses souhaits, l'ncinération se produira et il n'y aura pas de visites au salon. Un service commémoratif à la mémoire de sa vie aura lieu au printemps. Lucien will be remembered for his many years of community service including: Usher at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church for over 40 years, President of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Heart League during a 10 year tenure, member of the former Ste. Mary's Hospital Board, past president of the Life Underwriters. Also proud member of the Club Richelieu de Timmins since 1970 where he served as President in 1973. Lucien also served as Governor and again as Administrator of Club Richelieu International. He went on to serve as a member of the Fondation Richelieu, and received the prestigious Cercle Richelieu Horace Viau. Lucien also worked for Morisette Diamond Drilling of Haileybury at the Dome Mine over a 25 year period and returned to school to become a Life Insurance Agent employed by London Life during a 10 year period where he was recognized through many Achievement Awards. Lucien retired in 1981 and enjoyed a stress free life spending winters in Hollywood, Florida where he often promoted his hometown and the James Bay Frontier. During his return to Timmins for the summer months, he volunteered as the unofficial site inspector for Chartrand Equipment. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Doctors Champion, Malo and Labelle and heartfelt appreciation goes out to the surgical nursing professionals of the Timmins and District Hospital. At Lucien's request, and respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitations. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place this spring. CHADWICK, William Arthur - The family of Bill Chadwick is sad to announce his passing on Friday, November 9th, 2007 in his 93rd year. He lived a full and interesting life with dignity and honour. He died with his family at his bedside with much dignity, honour and respect. Bill is the father of Heather Thompson and her husband Guy of Peterborough, Ontario, Harley Chadwick and his wife Constance Couch of Kingston, Ontario and Audrey MacDougall and her husband Gary of Yellowknife, N.W.T. Grand Dad of Niall Davidson and his wife Leigh Trusler, Colin Davidson and his wife Martha, Haley Chadwick, Debbi Small, Karla Reid, Kelsey, Ian and Alexander MacDougall. Great grandfather of Benjamin, Noah, Sadie, Megan, Kyle, Tyler, Haley, Dalton, Quinton, Parker and Angelina. Friend of Myra Rose Chadwick. Predeceased by parents John Chamberlain Chadwick and Florence MacArthur and brothers John Chadwick and Arnold Chadwick. Uncle of Colette Squires and her husband David of Abbotsford B.C., Carol Holmes and her husband Paul of Airdrie, Alberta, Manya Chadwick and her husband Pierre Mineau of Ottawa and Howard Chadwick and his wife Sue of Laguna Nigel, California. Veteran of World War II, serving with the R.C.A.F. as a Navigation Officer. Retired Chemical Engineer with Imperial Oil/Texaco after 33 years of service. Bill was a Principal and taught school on the prairies before the war. Bill was an ardent downhill skier into his 89th year, an accomplished square dancer and instructor and ballroom dancer. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto in Chemical Engineering in 1949. He was a world traveller, including exciting places such as the Orient, Europe, Africa and Great Britain. Bill was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute and a member of Leaside United Church, Toronto. Visitation will be held at THE COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE (356 Rubidge St., Peterborough, Ontario) on Monday November 12th from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007 at 11:00 am, followed by inurnment at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation, or the Peterborough Humane Society. 10897942
