DOUCETTE, Robert Bernard (a.k.a Super Bob) 1934 - 2007 Peacefully on October 23, 2007 at the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Betty. Loving father of Michael, Christopher and Kim McKay. Grandfather to Rebecca and Hunter. He leaves behind his twin sister Bernice Serrurier, his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Retired employee of Minto Developments, former superintendent of Commodore A & B and President of Parkwood Hills Seniors. Special thanks to all of the doctors and nurses that provided excellent care to Robert during his illness. LATOUR, Norma Eleanor June 22, 1919 - October 23, 2007 Peacefully, at the Garry J. Armstrong Long Term Care Home, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Bill. Loving mother of Paul (Marlene) and John (Gerri). Predeceased by her sister Sadye Ivey and her brother John MacDonald, and survived by her brother Hugh MacDonald, all of Sydney, Nova Scotia. A former primary school teacher at DND Viscount Alexander School, at Rockliffe Airbase, she had been an active member of the Emmanuel United Church congregation, and volunteered in her retirement years, delivering Meals on Wheels, and at the library of Hawthorne Public School. The family wishes to express thanks and gratitude to the staff of Allan House, of the Long Term Care Unit, of the Garry J. Armstrong Home. NAYLOR, Betty Alice Peacefully, at Longfields Manor in Nepean, Ontario, on Friday, October 19, 2007 in her 90th year, with her family by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years and best friend, Bill. Dear mother of David (Jennifer), Lin Hayward (Don), and Val Story (Brian). Loving grandmother of Amy, Mark, Brett, Drew, Kim and Dana; and great-grandmother of Madison, Zoe, Kyle, Ryan, Nicole, Ashlynn, Amanda, Katrina and Logan. Betty had a distinguished career as an educator culminating in the post of Chair in the Business Division of George Brown College in Toronto, retiring in 1982. Her many avocations and passions included gardening, flower arranging, stained glass, weaving, needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, golfing, lawn bowling, reading and shopping. A reception to celebrate Betty's life will be held at the TORONTO BOTANICAL GARDEN (at Edwards Gardens), 777 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto on Sunday, November 4th from two to four oclock, with tributes at three o'clock. She also belonged to a senior's bowling league and a few bridge clubs. Bernadette Thibodeau 1917-2007 `A la Villa Providence, le jeudi 25 octobre 2007, à l'âge de 90 ans, est décédée Mlle Bernadette Thibodeau, domiciliée à la Villa Providence, mais autrefois de la rue Smith à Shédiac. Née à Shédiac le 28 août 1917, elle était fille de feu Félicien et Amanda (Boudreau) Thibodeau. Elle est le dernier membre de sa famille immédiate. Une soeur Stella Cormier l'a précédée dans la tombe. Elle laisse dans le deuil son beau-frère Laurie Cormier de Moncton, ainsi que plusieurs cousins et cousines. Avant sa retraite, Bernadette était un commis avec la bijouterie Foster à Shédiac pendant 25 années. Elle était concepteur original de la couronne du Festival du Homard de Shédiac. VAUTOUR, ARTHUR J. - The death of Arthur J. Vautour, husband of Eileen C. (Bradbin) Vautour occurred on October 23, 2007 at his residence in Quispamsis. Born in Acadieville, Kent Co. on February 19, 1919, he was the son of the late Anseleme and Abbie (Johnston) Vautour. He was a loving and devoted husband of 63 years, a wonderful father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all. He spent many years working with a moving company in MA., worked at Maritime Movers, as well as on the waterfront with CPR truckers, and many other jobs before his retirement. He enjoyed talking about his younger years in the woods with his siblings, hunting, gardening and spending lots of time talking and laughing with family and friends around the kitchen table. He truly was a great man and will be missed by all. Barbara was the daughter of Beatrice (Walsh) and the late Anthony Stratis. She is survived by her companion Glen Mason; Terry Toner, father of her children; daughter Natasha; son-in-law David DeLong of Riverbank NB. STEELE, JOHN H.P. - The death of John H.P. Steele, loving husband of Mary (Whelpley) Steele, occurred on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1928 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Frank and Edna (Pierce) Steele. John worked as a roofer for Dowd and Hamilton for many years. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. MATHESON, WILLIAM EARL - passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital with his family by his side on Monday October 22, 2007. He was born in Bonny River and was the son of the late George Barnhill and Myrtle Josephine (Kinney) Matheson and beloved wife, Dora Louise (Matthews) Matheson. Bill was a family man working hard his entire life until most recently at Roosevelt Campobello Park where he was a proud and friendly fixture for almost 25 years. He was a lifelong and loyal Blue-Jays fan who loved the outdoors, spending time with family and friends at the camp hunting, especially proud this past season for he and Dora to both get a moose. We'll miss his daily routine of errands that took him around the island and promise to mow the lawn, pick up the mail and take good care of each other and Sumo. In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, Donald Matheson (Laurel), Randy Matheson (Gerry) and Rikk Matheson (Sherry) all of Campobello; one brother, Melvin Matheson (Janet) of St. George; three 3 sisters, Bernice Thompson of Black's Harbour, Joan Taylor of St. George and Jean Campbell (Archie) of Pennfield; as well as two grandchildren, Christa Matheson and Jeffrey Matheson (Natasha); one great grand-daughter, Cali Marie Matheson; and several nieces and nephews. CAMPBELL, EDWARD "TED" DAVID - The death of Edward David Campbell of Gault Road, Saint John, NB, husband of the late Donna Marie Campbell, occurred peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2007, following a lengthy illness, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Souris, PEI, he was a son of Barbara Ann (Jennings) Campbell and the late George Edward Campbell. He was employed with the City of Saint John as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Union Local # 18 Outside Workers for 20 years. Ted was a member of St. Mark's United Church, and the Men's Club; he enjoyed attending the Drag Races and car related hobbies. Ted's most recent prized possession was his "PT Cruiser", which he loved dearly. A. (Anne) Eileen Sullivan 1915 - 2007 A. (Anne) Eileen Sullivan, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at The Moncton Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Riverside, Albert Co., January 4, 1915, she was the youngest daughter of the late Clement O'Connor and Elizabeth (Duffy) O'Connor. A 1933 graduate of Riverside Consolidated High School, she entered Moncton's Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1934. Stricken with an eye disorder which left her blind in one eye, she abandoned a nursing career and returned to Riverside as secretary housekeeper of Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church. She resided in Moncton from 1945 working in the retail and service sector retiring in 1970. Predeceased by her husband, John (1994); infant son, John Stewart (1951); sister, Lillian (Ormond) Doherty; brother, Charles (Vera) O'Connor. She is survived by son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Judy of Moncton; nieces, Linda O'Connor of Moncton, Anida Simurda of Ottawa; and Nephew, Donald O'Connor of Moncton; also by special and dear friends, Margaret Downing, Anne Hatcher, and Ron Morse. An honorary life member of the Moncton Senior Citizens Center, a life member of the Air Force Veterans Association, a 70 year member of the St. Bernard's CWL, an active member of the New Brunswick Irish Cultural Association-Moncton Chapter, a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and the Moncton Curlers Association. Eileen lived life to the fullest motivated by her love of family, friends, her pets and horticulture. Bea, as she was lovingly known by all, was predeceased by her husband, Wallace E. Cameron (Moncton), her parents, Alvin and Mary (Card) Plume (Havelock), and 8 brothers and sisters, Amy Plume (Havelock), Clifford (Kip) (North Bay, Ontario), Frank (Mannie) (Saint John, N.B.), Chesley (Hap) (Havelock), Eva Ginn (Havelock), Isabel Phillips (Grimsby, Ontario), Stella Keith (Havelock), and Bertha Pearson (Australia). She is survived by her two sons and their families, Reginald A. Cameron of Saint John, N.B. [wife, Marilyn and their two children, Jennifer and Jason (wife, Tina and their children)] and Brian W. Kamuran and Taner will especially miss their "Nana", as she was lovingly known by them. Bea was a 50+ year active member of Wesley Memorial United Church in Moncton and led many committees with the UCW during her time there. BAIRD, Frances Sarah February 8, 1917 - October 23, 2007 Frances Sarah Baird of Calgary passed away at the Bow Crest Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Frances was born in Cobourg, ON. She received all of her schooling in Eastend, SK. Frances met and married her second husband, Douglas Baird in Shaunavon, SK where they lived until 1953. They moved to Lethbridge in 1953 and Frances has resided in Calgary since 1982. Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Tim Kendrick of Calgary and son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Florence Reid of Lethbridge; five grandchildren, Deanna (Dale) McMaster of Powell, OH, Jeff (Tanya) Reid of Plantation, FL, Dan (Michelle) Reid, Greg (Lindsay) Kendrick and Kim Kendrick all of Calgary; sister-in-law Frances Tyner of Eastend, SK and eight great-grandchildren. COLEMAN, Margaret Margaret Coleman passed away peacefully at the Agape Manor Hospice in Calgary on October 17, 2007 at the age of 84. Margaret was born in Suffield, Alberta, 28 November 1922. Margaret and Harold worked and lived in Brooks, Fort Macleod, Vegreville and Lethbridge, with Margaret moving to Calgary after the death of her husband Harold. Margaret was predeceased by her son Colin in 1957 and her husband Harold in 1996. She is survived by her son Bob (Lynn), daughter Ruth (Craig), and son Ron, as well as two grandsons. DAVIDSON, John Arthur "Art" May 12, 1911 - October 18, 2007 John Arthur Davidson of Calgary passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the age of 96 years. Art was born on Mother's Day, May 12, 1911 at Summerland Farms, (Ogden, Calgary) to John and Minnie (Porter) Davidson who had emigrated from Scotland via England, first to Ontario in 1904 and then to Alberta in 1906. He grew up on farms across Alberta, first at Ogden, then at Bearspaw for several years, then to Gilby for three years and back to Sharpe Hill, east of Balzac and then to Calgary. While living near Balzac, Art grew up and enjoyed his free time playing fast ball for the Balzac fast pitch ball team as their left-handed pitcher and did lots of volunteering, including the construction of the original Balzac Community Hall. In 1927, Art started working at The Bay to put himself through S.A.I.T. and graduated from Electrical Technology in 1929. He spent three years in Lethbridge and then it was on to Medicine Hat for two years. Art was called to the Army Signals in 1939, and was sent to West to Work Point, Esquimalt, B.C. as a signalman. Art was a very proud Canadian! After his army career ended, Art went back to A.G.T. and to Drumheller in 1948, Calgary in 1949 and to High River in 1950 as a local plant manager and back to Calgary in 1964 as a business office supervisor. Art retired from A.G.T. in 1973 after forty-four years of service. While in Drumheller in 1948, Art met Marilyn Olive, who was a dietician at the hospital and they were married in Calgary on July 8, 1950. Moving to High River in 1950, Art and Marilyn got actively involved in small town living by volunteering at the United Church and being heavily involved in the "Couples Club". High River is also where their three children were born: John, Ross and Sherry. After Art's retirement, he became the "gopher" for Marilyn as she continued in a new career doing market research. During these years they had many good times as "snow birds" in Yuma and traveling abroad. In 1992 Art started showing signs of Alzheimer's. By 2002, more care became required and in March 2003 Art was moved into the Colonel Belcher Care Centre with Marilyn living next door in the apartments. Art's beloved wife of fifty-five years, Marilyn, passed away in 2005. Art is survived by his loving children: sons, John (Brenda) of Calgary, Ross (Helen) of Aliso Viejo, CA and daughter Sherry (Thomas) Graw of Calgary; grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg), Jason, Michael, Robyn (Jevon), Stephen, Katelyn (James), Gwendolyn, Christopher; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, Noah and Xander. Art was predeceased by his wife Marilyn; his father and mother in 1963 and 1964 and his sister Elsie in 1967. ROWE, Clarence Pearson ("CPR" "Cook") August 26, 1914 - October 22, 2007 Clarence, the last survivor of seven pioneer children, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital at the ripe young age of 93. He experienced Alberta's rough-and-tough pioneer times and lived through the poverty of the Dirty Thirties, the continual boom-and-bust of the oil and gas industry and the dawn of the space age with its whizzing technological advancements. He retired in his sixties, after thirty-three years of service with Teck Cominco. With honesty, dignity and caring, he raised his family of Doug, Leta and Penny with his surviving wife of sixty-eight years, Margaret. His numerous loving relatives and friends will miss his comical antics. The family would like to thank Dr. Pandya, Dr. Anderson and their staff as well as the nursing staff at Rockyview Hospital and the management at Signal Pointe for persevering with Clarence's illnesses. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Anick (Denis Auclair) et Julie (David Thuot) ainsi que son petit-fils Arthur. Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil plusieurs parents et amis. MALETTE, Rachel - Passed away at North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 54. Rachel was the beloved wife of the late Jean-Paul Gravel and loved mother of Chantal Dionne (Paul) of North Bay.She will be be lovingly remembered by three grandchildren, Brittany, Kiana and Kerina. She was the dear sister of Lorraine Malette (Bernie) and she will be dearly remembered by longtime friend, Elmer Modeen. Predeceased by her parents, Marie-Jeanne and Lionel Malette. Cecile (née Bourdon) was the beloved wife of Harold McGirr and loved mother of Paul (Cathryn) and Catherine Gerolami (Martial) both of North Bay.
