NEAD, Larry D. - Of Wallaceburg passed away, on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at the age of 65 years. He was born in the Tilbury area and was a son of the late John and Alice (Dixon) Nead. Beloved husband of Wendy (Bogaert) Nead. Loving father and father-in-law of Kelly Nead and Larry and Kelly Nead. Loving grandfather of Karly. Kind brother of Joan and Gerald Cadotte, Gertrude and Grayling Church, Pat Thompson and her companion George and Ron and Judy Nead. Brother-in-law of Susan Nead, Rick and Delina Bogaert and Kevin Bogaert. Son-in-law of Gladys Bogaert and her companion Charlie Butzer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his two brothers Jack and Grant and his father-in-law Paul Bogaert. The late Larry Nead rested at the ERIC F. NICHOLLS FUNERAL HOME, 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg until a private family service was held at the funeral home. Interment has taken place in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. GUAY, William Francis (Bill) - of Belleville died at the Ottawa Heart Institute on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the age of 60. Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn (Shannon) for 33 years. Devoted father to daughters Shannon (Belleville), Heather (Vancouver) and son Kelly (Belleville). Loving son of the late Noel and Frances (Forstell) Guay. Dear son-in-law of Clare (deceased) and Evelyn Shannon. Much loved brother-in-law of Larry and Cathy Shannon, Kevin and Trudy Shannon and Anne and Steve Miller all of Belleville. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews Matthew, Megan and Brittany Miller and Vincent and Breanna Shannon. Cherished cousin and friend of Jane Axley of Naperville, Illinois. Bill was born and raised in Belleville. Above all else Bill treasured family, faith and friends. He retired following 33 years as an educator with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and its predecessor board, the Hastings-Prince Edward Roman Catholic Separate School Board. He served as a teacher, consultant, co-ordinator and principal and was deeply committed to Catholic Education. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed his part-time job as a shuttle driver for Bob Clute Pontiac. This allowed him to combine two of his passions, cars and visiting with people. He loved to travel with his family and golf with his friends. No gathering of family or friends was complete without a few clever puns from Bill. The family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses and staff who cared for him over the almost four months he was a patient at the Ottawa Heart Institute. IVEY, DANIEL ROLAND It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Roland Ivey who passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on October 14th, 2007 after a short but very courageous battle with cancer. Dan is survived by one daughter, Michelle and her husband, Graham MacDonald (Fredericton). He is also survived by his mother, Miriam Ivey of Woodstock; two sisters, Bessie (Carl) Harper of Woodstock & and Barb (John) Watt of Ontario. Dan is also survived by his nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles. Dan is predeceased by his father, Roland Ivey. He is also survived by his much loved pets, Jake his dog, and Ooshie his cat, who will both miss him very much; He also leaves behind his best friend, Letitia O'Donnell. Dan was an employee of NB Liquor, working at the Devon Liquor Store and more recently, the Smythe Street Liquor Store. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of wine with anyone who asked and loved his job very much. Dan was a graduate of UNB and belonged to the New Brunswick Liberal Association and the New Brunswick Welsh Society. Besides work, Dan enjoyed going for drives with his family and was a regular at the Saturday morning market, and was often seen attending the plays at TNB. He was an avid campaigner for the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Association and the Canadian Cancer Society and therefore donations are being asked to be given to either charity or a charity of the donors choice. A special thank you to the nursing staff of 4 South-East at the D.E.C.R.H., Dr. Ian MacDonald and Dr. Jennifer Dejong for your caring and compassionate way during this difficult time. Thank you also to our friends and family for your support, prayers and the food dropped off to us during the past 6 weeks. Karen Anne Steeves-King 1955 - 2007 OSHAWA, ONT - Karen Anne passed away on October 2nd in Oshawa, Ontario. She was the daughter of the late Stanley King and her mother, Daphne King. She is survived by a daughter, Shannon Steeves and a son, Dennis Steeves. She also left behind a precious grandson, Landon Steeves and the children's father, Randy Steeves. Her family survivors consists of her mother, Daphne King, Moncton; four brothers, Gerald (Janet), Moncton, Charles "Art" King (Jeanette), Sutton, Ont., Kenneth King (Linda), Moncton, David King (Marcia), Moncton; two sisters, Dorothy King, Moncton and Leslie "Peggy" Paget (John), Calgary. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley King; her sisters, Margaret King; and a tiny baby, Sharon Steeves. Her funeral took place at the Oshawa Funeral Home on October 10, 2007 with Pastor Wally Mills officiating. Interment followed in the Oshawa Cemetery. October 15, 2007

Painchaud Gérard 1921 - 2007 À l’unité de transition St-Jean-Eudes, rue Leclerc, Québec, le mercredi 10 octobre 2007, à l’âge de 85 ans et 10 mois, est décédé monsieur Gérard Painchaud, fils de feu dame Marie-Jeanne Guay et de feu monsieur François-Benoit Painchaud. Après une longue carrière dans l’enseignement dans les villes de Trois-Rivières, Sillery, Beaupré et Rivière-du-Loup, il s’est dirigé vers le Centre de plein air du Lac Beauport en premier lieu et par la suite, il a fondé le Centre plein air La Tourmente à Saint-Tite des Caps, où chaque année, il recevait des enfants handicapés du Pavillon Mgr Toupin avec la participation d’étudiants de la Faculté de médecine de l’Université Laval. Par la suite, il fut très actif au parc du Mont Ste-Anne dans les activités de plein air. Les funérailles seront célébrées le mercredi 17 octobre 2007 à 11h en l’église de la Nativité de Notre-Dame, 25, rue du Couvent, Québec (arrondissement Beauport), où la famille vous accueillera à compter de 10h. Les cendres seront par la suite déposées au cimetière paroissial. Gérard était le frère de feu l’abbé Charles, Robert (Lucille Parent), feu l’abbé Antoine, feu Alphonsine (feu Paul-Émile Drouin, Marie-Paule Lavoie), feu Jules, Marcel (feu Denise Fortin), feu Jean, Louise, Marie (Benoit Plaisance), Monique (Marc Chalifour), Joseph (Huguette Robert), Thérèse, feu Lucille. En plus de ses frères, sœurs, beaux-frères et belles-sœurs qui lui survivent, Gérard laisse aussi dans le deuil de nombreux neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines et ami(e)s. BIGFORD, Dennis - It is with great sadness that his family announces the sudden passing of Dennis Bigford in his 59th year on Saturday, October 13th, 2007. True to her determined nature, Colleen defied the odds, not allowing her illness to prevent her from completing what she felt she needed to do. Forever loved by her devoted husband of 29 years, Steve Cudd. She is the cherished daughter of Jim and Fay Wall of Kingston. BULLA, Geraldine (Gerry) March 1, 1923 - October 10, 2007 May your journey be gentle and filled with love A woman of extraordinary grace and beauty, Ida Geraldine (Vickery) Bulla passed away in Calgary on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 with her daughter Pam Bulla and son-in-law Scot Bullick at her side. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on March 1, 1923, Gerry graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. On March 1, 1950 she married the love of her life C. James (Jim) Bulla and two years later gave birth to Pamela. Gerry was a loving and devoted wife and mother who took exceptional pride in her family and home. In the summer of 1969, the Bulla family was transferred to Calgary where Jim continued to work in the Oil and Gas industry as a diplomatic and respectful contract negotiator. In 1973 they were once again transferred, back to the United States, to Denver, CO, where they lived for the next twenty-seven years until Jim's passing in August of 1999. After Jim's passing Gerry returned to Calgary to live near her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter Pam; son-in-law Scot; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron Bullick; sister-in-law Midge Vickery; nephews, Warren and Bill Vickery; and her dear cousin Peggy MacKellar whom she loved like a sister. She will also be remembered and missed by her friends and entire family. Gerry was pre-deceased by her mother and father Ruth (Dillon) and Warren Moses Vickery, her brother Warren Vickery and by her beloved husband Jim. DYER, Faye Catherine (VanWyck) On October 11, 2007, Faye Catherine Dyer (VanWyck), our Mom, passed away at the age of 73. She will be forever missed by her surviving children, James, Jeff (Chris), and Lara (Mike). Faye was predeceased by her son Danny in 1975. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, JD, Jaimee, Brianne, and Liam and by three great-grandchildren, Chase, Tyra and Dylan. Faye will also be missed and fondly remembered by beloved friends and family members too numerous to mention. She was a devoted Mom, a true and faithful friend, a person devoted to caring for others. A retired RN, Faye was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, and was raised in Irvine, Alberta. She was predeceased by both her parents, Jack and Dorothy Dyer, of Burdett, Alberta, and by her sister Donna, of Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by brothers Gale (Betty) Dyer, of Courtenay, BC and Doug (Janice) Dyer, of Calgary, Alberta. Faye raised her family in, and contributed to the community of Fort Macleod, Alberta. She was a Scout Leader and enjoyed the benefits of leadership and fellowship training that the program provided. She loved the mountains and the outdoors and enjoyed sharing her passion with others. Faye also lived for many years in Calgary, Alberta and was proud to be part of the Renal program at Foothills Hospital. In her retirement Faye lived in Fort McMurray and finally in Stony Plain living close to her children Jeff and Lara and their families. Mom devoted her life to making a difference in the lives of others. She taught her children to give back to their communities in the way that she had, to open their homes and extend hospitality as she had, to make lifelong friends and maintain those relationships in the way that she had, and to love others and care for their well being in the way that she did. Faye will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. LeROUX, Edgar Joseph O.C., PHD, L.L.D. Peacefully on Saturday, October 13th, 2007. Born in Ottawa on January 23, 1922 to Dieudonne and Amanda LeRoux (nee Laframboise). Loving husband of the late Ardis M. LeRoux (March 2007). Dearest father of Stella of Renfrew, Pierre of Ottawa and Lil of Peterborough. Proud Papa of Rachel, Connor, Eli, Zoe and Lindsey. Inspiring father-in-law of Shawn and Glenn. Our dad was the last surviving brother of nine siblings: Rose (Gerry), Art (Marie-Ange), Ernest (Yvonne), Lucia (Art), Blanche (Joe), Eva (Frank), Henry (Carmen) and Leo who predeceased them all in the sinking of the Esquimalt in 1945. Although he achieved high distinction as a scientist, researcher and administrator and was awarded many honours, Dad cherished the connections among family and friends most. He served in the RCNR from 1941-1946. He fell in love with our Mom, a spunky prairie gal in Halifax, and they married there in 1944. Some of Dad's favorite times were spent at Lac Serpent, boating, fishing, wood carving and enjoying sing-songs around the bonfire. Our Dad was a "bon vivant", whose personal charm, warmth and steadfastness was treasured by friends and colleagues as well as by all of us who loved him. Heartfelt thanks to Yvette, Ed and godson Michael Collins whose company he so enjoyed. Also to Mercy, whose tender care of Dad in the last year enabled him to stay in his own home. He was a second "Father" to her. Family will receive friends on Monday, October 15th at Pinecrest Visistation Centre (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 16th in the Pinecrest Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to follow.
