Born in Sudbury, she married Urgell Joseph Duhamel in 1955; they owned and operated Duhamel's Service Centre until his death in 2000. Loving mother of Debbie (husband Eric Truman) of Bruce Mines, Donna (husband Ken Paterson) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Richard (wife Sherry) of Ellensburg, Wash., Peter (wife Rebecca) of Whitefish and Timothy of Worthington. Cherished grandmother of Kristen, Jessie, Desirea, Brenan, Brittany, Alexander, Christopher, and Stephanie. Dear sister of Edward of Napanee, predeceased by Donald in 1993. HANSON, Stephen Kenneth - Died suddenly at home on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at age 61. Born April 25, 1946 in Belleville, Ontario. Dear daughter of the late Clifford & Maudie Jenkinson. Beloved wife of Alexander David McNaught. BELL, John Francis ~ Passed away August 31, 2007. John resided in Paris, Ontario on German School Rd. He is survived and missed by his wife Lorraine, and his three children Lisa, Robin and Arthur (Buzz). John attended Vermont Academy, and Brown University and served with the U.S. Army in Europe. He held numerous executive and senior manager positions at Spaulding's when it was headquartered in Brantford, Lampkin Industries in Chicago and California and HD Brown in St. George, Ontario. EMERY, Mary Claire - A resident of Ridgetown and formerly of Howard Township, Claire Emery passed away at New Beginnings Rest Home, Ridgetown on Monday, September 3, 2007 in her 100th year. Born in Howard Township, daughter of the late James and Mary (Lambe) Hogan. Beloved wife of the late Ray Emery (1973). Dear mother of the late Jim Emery (2006), Donald Emery (1980), and Leo Emery (1938). Sister of the late James Hogan, Francis Hogan, and infant sister Sarah Hogan. THOMPSON: Lureen Elma - With deep sadness, our family announces the passing of Lureen Thompson on Wednesday August 29, 2007 at the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current, Manitoulin Island at the age of 81, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Lureen was the daughter of Jack and Jennie (Coultis) Cammidge. She was the beloved wife of Sanford Thompson (predeceased).The mother of Dixie (Nick), Dell (wife Gloria), Mike (wife Nancy), Blair (wife Marion), and son Jim. Grandmother of Valerie, Trevor, Bobby-Jo, Tanya, Micky, Curtis and Chad. Great grandmother of Bobby, Brett, Cassidy and Sydney. Lureen was a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home for only a short time, having previously being a resident of Elliot Lake for the past several years, leaving there many good friends. Lureen was an avid card player and enjoyed her euchre and cribbage games. She was an associate member of the Legion and volunteered many hours both for the Legion and for the Canadian Red Cross. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting Afghans for the Seniors Residences in Elliot Lake. Lureen was a loving mother who devoted her life in caring for her family and enjoyed many summers at her cottage on Lake Manitou. Special thanks are extended to those friends in Elliot Lake who assisted her over the past few months, along with a thank you to Dr. Matheson and the nursing staff of the Elliot Lake Hospital. A further thank you is extended to Dr. Robinson and the nursing staff of the Cancer Care Center in Sudbury, along with the nurses, Drs. Edwards and Jeffries at the Manitoulin Health Centre. At Lureen's request there will be no visitation and no funeral. GIGNAC (PP), Reverend N.J. - Passed peacefully, wrapped in God's love, at the Houses of Providence in Toronto on Friday August 31, 2007, at the age of 87. Fr. Norbert was the son of the late Louis Gignac and Ephygenie Doucette of Penetanguishene, and was one of 16 siblings. He is survived by his beloved sister, Sister Mary Zelie (Helen) CSJ. Father is predeceased by 14 of his brothers and sisters. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Marie Gignac and Lillian Gignac and his many nieces and nephews. Father Gignac was an active priest in the Archdiocese of Toronto for 62 years. Upon his Ordination on May 26th, 1945, Father began his life long love of people and parishes. He served as Pastor at St. Patrick's, Markham and St. Mary's, Victoria Harbour. As founding Pastor of Saint Mary of the People in Oshawa (1957) and Saint Joseph the Worker in Oshawa (1985) Father is lovingly remembered by so many lives that he touched in his work for the Lord. The family would like to thank the staff at the Houses of Providence Health Care, the Archdiocese of Toronto and Anita for the compassionate care they gave him. CAUFIELD, Francis (Frank) - In loving memory of Francis (Frank) Caufield, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26th, 2007 after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of his family. Frank grew up in Cobalt and, after graduating from the Haileybury School of Mines he worked for a brief period in Marlatic, Quebec and later moved to Sudbury to work at Falconbridge Nickel Mines. Upon his retirement he found himself in a wonderful new job as Papa (Pops) to his grandchildren Brandon, Brittany, Noah, Matthew, Aidan and most recently Elle. Pops loved his many roles as tour guide, driving instructor, gardener as well as arts and crafts coordinator with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Paulina (nee Balyta), his children Irene (Robert Cook), Natalie (Terry Luoma) and James (Lucia nee Tullio) all of Sudbury. Frank was predeceased by both his parents James and Elizabeth (nee MacDonald) Caufield. He was a cherished brother to Jean (Jim Bourgeois) of Nepean, John (Rosemary) of North Bay and Rosemary (Gerry Zielinski) of Oakville. Frank will also be missed by his two sisters- in-law Irene (Ted Archuticz) and Rose (Garry Tremblay). He was a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. At Frank's request a Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at 343 Homewood Avenue, Sudbury. RIDDLER, Randall Bertram - Passed away suddenly at home with his family by his side on Monday September 3, 2007 in his 85th year. Dear husband of 59 years to Louise Mason. Loving father of Brenda and Greg both of North Bay. Predeceased by his parents Percy and Florence Riddler, his sister Wanda in 2003 and by his brother Gary in 1969. Randall served in WWII enlisting in May 1940. He fought with the Westminster Regiment in Italy and Holland until discharged in 1945. Upon his return, Randall was employed with the ONR for 36 years from 1946 to 1982. More recently, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at the family cottage on Lake Talon. She is predeceased by her husband, Gerald in May 18, 1983; son, Kevin; sisters, Alice Kane, Josephine King, Marie Trevors, and Augusta Flynn; brothers, John King, Joseph King, Fernandez King, Father Reginald King and Percy King . Larry Allen Martin May 14, 1947 - September 2, 2007 Surrounded by family and friends to the end, Larry Martin passed away Sunday after a lengthy illness. He will be dearly missed by wife Sonya, five sons, William, Gregory (Hershey), Timothy, Keith (Fatuma), Brian and grandson Jason. COOK, Faye Rose (nee Jamieson) Beloved wife of Ken, born August 26, 1939 died peacefully at home with her family present on September 1, 2007. Faye and Ken were married for 49 years and have 4 children, Terri (Jay), Leslie (Mark), Kevin (Bonnie), Vicki (Dave) and 12 grandchildren, Cameron, Richard, Laura and Diana, Emily, Marlie and Gemma, Ashley, Brandon and Keiran, Michelle and Michael. Faye also leaves behind her much loved brother, Phillip Jamieson and her life long best friend, Gail Jernslet. Faye worked at Camosun College for 17 years, retiring in 1997. She was an avid 10 pin bowler in the Mayfair Ladies League and community volunteer spending several years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Camosun College Foundation. Faye was known for her great love of her family and her many friends, her rapier like wit and her fabulous family dinner parties. SFILIGOI, Valerio (Val) - The death occurred suddenly of Val Sfiligoi, a long time resident of South Porcupine, on Monday September 3rd, 2007.Beloved husband of Gabriella (Jelka). Loving father of Steven (Allison) of Toronto and Lara (Scott) Ormerod of Barrie. Dearest grandfather of Kira Sfiligoi and Charlotte Sfiligoi. Val was eagerly awaiting the birth of his third grandchild. He will be sadly missed by his best friends. Val was born in Fojana, Slovenia on December 8th, 1926 and emmigrated to Canada in 1951. He was employed at various mines in Northern Ontario including Kidd Creek from which he retired in 1986. Predeceased by his parents Theresa and Anton, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Val loved gardening, the outdoors and walking around the Porcupine Lake. Above all he loved his family. His furry friend Cleo will miss him dearly.
