It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Friedman, peacefully, in the comfort of his loving family, on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at the Mount Sinai Hospital. Predeceased by his devoted and treasured wife of sixty-nine years, the late Anne Perlman Friedman. Most adored and cherished father and father-in-law of Irma Friedman Kredentser, Shelley and Michael Goodwin, Beverlee and David Perlin. Most treasured and caring grandfather of Herb and Debbie Brownstein, Mitchell and Elaine Brownstein; Marla and Richard Zipper, Jeff and Lisa Goodwin; Jewel and Donna Perlin. Loving and adored great-grandfather of Ryan, Josh and Sean Brownstein; Andrew, Matthew and Marlee Brownstein; Rachelle and Jennifer Zipper; Charlie, Eli and Ben Goodwin. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Hymie and the late Pauline Friedman, the late Ruth Friedman Hyam, and brother-in-law of the late Leah and the late Al Grossman, the late Jack and the late Ann Perlman. Devoted son of the late Nisel and the late Chaya Ita Friedman, and son-in-law of the late Max and the late Jennie Perlman. Predeceased by his siblings Menashe, Henya, Dobbie and their families who perished in the Holocaust. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and family. OBITUARY MARGOT KIRBY (nee Marguerite Filion Charbonneau) 1914-2007 Passed away peacefully and surrounded by loving family on August 22, 2007 at the Centre d'Acceuil Vaudreuil at the age of ninety-three. Predeceased by her beloved husband Howard J. D. Kirby. Devoted and loving mother of Suzanne (Gary Ervin), Marguerite (Harold Kerr), and Alena (Stan Zigby). Cherished grandmother of Erin, Hunter, and Nicole Ervin (Flothe), Jason, Tara, and Emily Doherty, Christine and Stefanie Zigby. Also survived by eleven great-grandchildren. Dedicated to volunteering on behalf of numerous charities and organizations, Margots presence and contributions will be deeply missed--Margot was a selfless and giving woman who always put her own needs after those of her family and friends but most of all, she prided herself in being a loving wife, mother and Nana, and providing a warm and welcome home to all her family and friends. A private funeral service for her immediate family was held in her honour at Rideau Memorial Gardens. Our sincerest thanks to the staff of the Centre d'Acceuil Vaudreuil, and especially to Carole Miqueu who guided and supported us, and remained with our Dear Mother until the end. We are deeply grateful for your tender, loving care. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this period of mourning. Irene was an active member of the Polish community and St. Anthony of Padua Church. Predeceased by her husband Jan Sadlowski. Irene will be sadly missed by her four loving children; Chester (Janet), Richard, Yolanda Thornton, and Lola Newman (Brett). CUMMING, Dr. Harold Wallace - It is with great sadness that we announce his sudden passing at home, Saturday August 25th 2007 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 61 years to Madeleine. Born in Bashaw, Alberta, WW2 RCAF flight lieutenant & instructor, graduated from Queen's medicine 1951, he practiced family medicine in Kingston until 1986. John worked at various trades such as being in the Navy, diamond drilling, working in forestry and mining which he retired from at Corey Miller's Mine when he was in his mid 60's. He had a passion for work and a caring heart to help those in need. John loved the outdoors, taking walks, picking blueberries and the atmosphere of fishing without actually bating his hook and catching a fish. Many of his family members will have fond memories of him collecting buckets full of coins. John had a good life which he enjoyed. Keith was born on the family farm near Clanwilliam, MB on June 6, 1927 and moved to Regina in 1955 where he began his career with PFRA. He and Muriel married on February 25, 1961. Keith remained with PFRA until his retirement in 1982. Keith had many accomplishments and made many close friends but his family was his most precious blessing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM, with Reverend Carla Blakely officiating. JANZ, Clara Louise, Sadly, we announce the sudden passing of Clara on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 from a stroke with her family by her side. She was 86 years old and was predeceased by her parents William and Amelia Schwartz, her husband of 62 years Edward, her sisters Martha (John) Deckshiemer and Verona Ermel, brothers: Albert (Augusta), Harry (Mary) August, Bill, Arthur (Rosie) and Leo Schwartz. She will be sadly missed by her son Delmer (Eileen) and family Sherri (Greg), Craig and Patricia, her daughter Viola, her family Leah (Doug) Fast and their family: Drew, Kyla, Kassidy and Miah Fast and Viola's son Lenny (Stacey) Janz and their son Hudson and also her remaining brother Louie (Eleanor), sisters-in-law: Lena, Lizzie and Emma Schwartz and brother-in-law Henry Ermel. Clara was born on December 6th, 1920 on the farm north of Cupar. Clara loved cooking, baking, canning and gardening. She also loved to crochet and knit. Clara and Ed spent many hours playing, singing and listening to music. Clara sadly missed her husband, Ed, who passed away on June 3rd, 2007. The family wishes to express appreciation to niece, Velma Hudson and friends Leone Owchar, and Marlene Kelln, the nurses at the General Hospital, and to Pastor Dennis Fingas and Pastor Carla R. THOMSON, Agnes Isabella November 27, 1922 - August 23, 2007 Agnes Thomson, late of Arbour Lake Seniors' Retirement Centre, of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the age of 84 years. Agnes was a dedicated family studies teacher. She was an avid traveler and a lover of mysteries. Agnes had a life-long passion for animals and also enjoyed needlepoint and reading. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she volunteered and sang in the choir. She was also a hospital volunteer. Agnes was a much-loved mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by all. After thirty years of being apart from her beloved husband Ian, Agnes has now joined him. COLLINGE, Florence Doris (nee Pace) October 13, 1931 - August 22, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Collinge announces her passing on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the age of 75 years at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary. Doris was born in Manchester, England and immigrated to Toronto, Ontario in 1966 with her husband Fred and their four children. She has been a proud resident of Calgary since 1974. Doris' hobbies included tole painting, sewing, knitting and "taking inventory at the local shopping malls". She was a wonderful cook, famous for her steak and kidney pies. NIESSEN, Judy Patrea (nee Norgard) September 3, 1948 - August 24, 2007 Judy passed from this world in the exact way she lived in it - with dignity and her family at her side. In her 58 years, Judy left an indelible mark on the lives of those that knew and loved her, for they were one and the same. A woman of immense strength and generosity, she was a model, mentor and matriarch - though her deep, genuine humility would never have permitted her to think this of herself. She measured her value in the world by the quality of people she knew to be her friends. Pure and true in spirit, Judy was known for her abiding common sense and she served as regular counsel and confidant to family and friends. Her warm smile, kind spirit and frequent laughter enveloped all those in her presence. She drew people to her with her wit and joy, and kept them close with her love and commitment. As she learned from her parents, Jim and Pat Norgard, Judy believed strongly in the importance of community and offering service to make that community a better place for all. She leaves this, too, for her family. Bereft in her absence are husband, Larry Niessen, daughter, Vanessa (Tim) Blott, her grandchildren Christian, Chandler and Camille and, son, Jamie Niessen; her sister Sandy (Ted) Menzies and their children Michael and Kari (Darren) Cunningham, and her great-niece Lucy Patrea. John E. Cassidy John E. Cassidy 90, of Villa Providence, Shediac, formerly of Royal Court, Riverview and Lutz Street, Moncton passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday August 25, 2007. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Charles and Celina (Bourque) Cassidy. John was a former employee of the Federal Government for over 35 years with Canada Post, D.O.T. and the Dept. of Public Works, retiring in 1974. John was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Past President of the Moncton Lions Club(1960-61), for many years he was involved in Junior & Senior Baseball and Hockey, one of the Founders of Moncton Little League & Pony League Baseball, member of Moncton Legion Branch #6, member of the Moncton Curlers Assoc. and was made an Honorary Life Member (1994) and was Past Chairman of the Monctonian Bonspiel (1982), NB Ganong Cup Play (1977) and the NB Seniors. Veteran of the 2nd World War, served in Canada and the North Atlantic Area with the Canadian Postal Corps S/Sgt (1940-45).
