Julie Babin 1933-2007 A sa résidence, le vendredi 20 juillet 2007, à l'âge de 74 ans, est décédée Julie Babin, épouse de Jacques Babin, domiciliée à Irishtown. Née le 11 mars 1933 à Acadieville, elle était la fille de feu Damien Doiron et de feu Élodie Robichaud. Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil quatre enfants: Daniel (Coleen) d' Halifax, Gilles, Bernard et Jacqueline Caissie (Michel) tous d'Irishtown; neuf petits-enfants: Matthew (Chantale), Isabelle, Sophie, Samuel, Christine, Philippe, Mélanie, Gabrielle, Martin; ses frères et soeurs: Minnie Robichaud (Célime), Lucina Martin (Élias), Ulysse, Steve, Lionel, Théophile (Caroline), Auguste et Alcide. Elle est précédée dans la tombe par une soeur Modeste; ainsi qu'un frère René Doiron. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church à Moncton (858-1900). Les funérailles auront lieu le lundi 23 juillet 2007 à 15h30 en l'église St-Lawrence O'Toole à Irishtown. L'inhumation se fera dans le cimetière paroissial. Kivioja, Taimi (née Puska) - 1923 - 2007. The family announces with sorrow her death on Thursday July 19, 2007 at the Timmins and District Hospital, at the age of 84. Predeceased by her husband Urho in 1983, her son Oliver in 1981, 1 infant son, her sister Minerva Kochmanski and her brother Oiva Puska. Loving mother of Kauno Kivioja (Susan) of Fenwick, Viola Mattinen (Ron) of Timmins, Diana Kivioja of Ottawa and John Kivioja of Schumacher. Dear grandmother of Kelly Kivioja-Armstrong (Rob), Kara Kivioja, Ken Mattinen, Michael Mattinen (Lyne Rivet), David Mattinen (Jennifer Drover), Larry Welin, Allan Welin (Tammy) and Glen Kivioja. RANEY, Alan Fraser - In loving memory of Alan Fraser Raney. Born January 24th 1918, died July 17th 2007. He was born in Toronto and married Charlotte (Moore) in 1942 in Pembroke. A longtime and well respected Falconbridge resident Alan was a veteran of WWII and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br#336 Falconbridge. In his younger days Alan had been a prospector. He was a mining engineer and geologist working many years at Falconbridge Ltd. retiring in 1983. A man of faith, he was a member of St. Mark's Anglican Church Garson where he actively participated in the church's ministry and fellowship. He was a dedicated volunteer at Science North and a keen cross country ski enthusiast. With “pick in hand“ he had accumulated a prize rock collection. Alan was devoted to his loving family. Beloved husband and best friend for 61 years to Charlotte (Moore) Raney predeceased 2004. Loving father of Bill Raney and wife Bonnie and Judy Maxwell. Cherished Grandad to Leigh (Simon), Debbie (Dwayne), Mandy (Jon), Liz (Ryan), David and great grandchildren Raney, Cameron, Norah, Lyjah-Sai, and Prema. THIBEAULT, Albert Thomas - In loving memory of Albert Thomas Thibeault, 80 years, who passed away Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 at his residence. Albert was born in Cartier. He was an accomplished carpenter for 50 years working at various construction companies retiring in 1983. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He spent many happy times at his camp in Cartier. A keen gardener his green thumb grew bountiful harvests of vegetables. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour he generously shared with all he met. Albert was devoted to his loving family. Beloved husband of Yvette (Martel) Thibeault of Sudbury. LOVEDAY, Grace Lillian Grace Lillian Loveday (nee Cunningham) of Airdrie passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on July 17, 2007 at the age of 96 years. Grace is lovingly remembered by daughter Janet Mason; grandsons Clint Mason and wife Lisa and Kelly Mason and fiancee Nicole; great-grandsons Brett, Marc and Bruce and great-granddaughter Cassandra. In 1990, Grace was predeceased by husband John Loveday, son-in-law Brian Mason and great-grandson Grant. Grace was born near Oak River, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg at age seventeen where she met Johnnie. During the war, she worked in an airplane factory and afterward, they bought the local grocery store and moved to Airdrie. Babies and music were her greatest joy. We will be forever grateful to her Bethany family for their loving care and to RoseAnna Fowler for her friendship and help. A Celebration of Grace's life will be held at Airdrie United Church on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Bethany Care Society, 1736 - 1 Avenue N.W., Airdrie, AB T4B 2C4. WHALEN, Lillian "Lil" (nee Anderson) January 23, 1924 - July 17, 2007 Lil passed away peacefully at the Carewest George Boyack Care Centre on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Lil was born in Blairmore, AB and came to live in Calgary with her parents and older brother at a young age. She worked in retail stores throughout Calgary, spending fifteen years at The Bay in sales and personnel training. Lil was an active parishioner and choir member at St. Michael's All Angels and St. Peter's Anglican Churches. She was very creative and played the organ, piano, enjoyed needlepoint, sewing and all crafts. Lil was also a great cook. Lil is survived by daughters Marilyn (Richard), Annette (Art) all of Calgary and Deborah of Red Deer; grandsons, Ricky, Terry and Steven; two great-granddaughters, Erica and Tara; one great-great-grandson, Cole; and special niece Gail. Lil was predeceased by her husband Albert in October 2001 and brother Stanley Anderson. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. The family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the staff at the George Boyack Care Centre for the kind, loving and compassionate care given to Lil over the past several months. Elle fut prédécédée par 1 frère, Gilbert. LANDERS, BERNICE - the death of Bernice A. Landers of 33 Smythe St., widow of Ralph Landers, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Mrs. Landers was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Garvin) Lean. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Wallace; and a grandchild, Shannon Landers. "Bernie" will be remembered for her strength, tenacity, and wry sense of humour. She stayed home to raise her children but later enjoyed a wonderful career at the antique shop. Throughout life, "Bernie" had a loved for hockey, family card games and cooking, especially her famous Arrowroot Squares. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Judy) of Ont., and L. Ralph of Saint John; four daughters, Marlene Comeau (Hilton) of Shediac, Liz Isaac of Saint John, Vicky DeForest (John) of Kentville, N.S., and Lynn Lambert of Saint John; four sisters, Eleanor Profit of Ont., Yvonne Boyne of N.S., Beryl Keleher of N.S., and Angela Young of Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At Bernie's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday morning at twelve o'clock. JOSEPH "JOE" MARTIN DOHERTY (Veteran of WWII) 1914 - 2007 - Joseph "Joe" Martin Doherty, 92, of Riverview, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. Born in Waterford, Kings Co. NB, he was the son of the late Hugh and Catherine (O'Leary) Doherty. Prior to his retirement he worked with various construction companies though out Atlantic Canada, HMCS Coverdale and # 5 Supply Depot Moncton. He was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Riverview. Joe was also a member of the Bridgedale Seniors. He was a veteran of W.W.II having served five years with the Royal Canadian Army Engineers overseas and was present for the liberation of Holland. He was a long standing member of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, gardening, travel, politics and his Irish heritage. His greatest love was that of his family. Joe also had a strong affection for his wonderful neighbours and his community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Marion E. (McMackin) Doherty; his loving children Honourable Dr. Ed Doherty (Mary) Saint John, Jo-Ann Thorburn (Ray) Calgary; Karen LeBlanc (Paul) New Maryland, Margie Lamb (Peter) Halifax and Frances Doherty Riverview; twelve adoring grandchildren Teresa Caplice (Michael), Robert Hynes (Beth), Catherine Hynes-Doherty, Andrew Thorburn, Annie Thorburn, Jill Thorburn, Derek LeBlanc, Corey LeBlanc, Darci LeBlanc, Meghan Lamb, Kealin Lamb and Sarah Lamb; four great grand children Dennis, Samuel, Sophie and Layla Caplice; three sisters Bernie Yerxa Sussex, Helen Carroll Kitchener, and Sr. Pauline Doherty (Our Lady Missionaries) Toronto; one brother Bill Doherty Ottawa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
