FINCH, Richard Grant - Peacefully after a brief illness, on Saturday, June 16, 2007, in his 66th year. Much loved father of Darlene of Brantford and Kandace McFerran (Robert) of Acton. Predeceased by his son Grant Jr. Papa to Tyler, Courtney and Rachel. Brother to Keith (Georgina) of Erin. Loving companion to Pauline MacRae. Grant will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his many friends in Acapulco, Mexico and Willow Lake Park, Scotland, Ontario, where he was affectionately known as “Pancho“. JASTER, Kathy - In her 51st year, a kind and gentle soul left us today, June 17, 2007 to be with God. Her sons, Todd and Kyle, knew, as did their dad, Jan Jaster, that they were Kathy's greatest source of strength and pride. DOWSWELL, Lloyd Barclay Peacefully on Friday, June 15th, 2007 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Isabel Brownlee Wallace (1983). Dear father of Wallace (Michelle Frame), Ellen O'Dwyer (Bob Roach), Kirk (Su) and Penny. Cherished grandfather of Marisa, Rebecca, Brendan, Keir, Jamie and Max. Great-grandfather of Erika and Ciaran. Devoted friend of Zenny. Lloyd lived a long and varied life. He was born in the small Manitoba town of Emerson. After serving in the Navy on the Iroquois during World War II, he and his wife Isabel opened a bakery. A few years later, Lloyd changed careers and joined the government Department of Customs and Immigration, working at the Emerson border. This was followed by over 30 years in the Foreign Service when he and his family lived in a number of different countries, always enjoying the local life and customs. Lloyd retired to Ottawa in 1990 where he enjoyed his retirement. That he will be missed by all of his family and friends is an understatement. GATES, Eric Elmer February 10th, 1917 - June 16th, 2007 On June 16th 2007 the world lost a wonderful man peacefully at the Queensway Carlton at the youthful age of 90. Predeceased by his wife Laura, Eric was devoted husband, great Dad & Grandpa. Survived by his brother Oliver, children Cathy, Judy & Rob. Grandchildren, Erica, John, Ken & Stephanie and great-grandchild Sasha. Throughout his lifetime Eric was a civic minded man who was involved in many leadership roles. Eric was a WWII Veteran, President of the Gatineau Norris Branch of the Canadian Legion, founding director and President of the Canipeco Credit Union, long time employee of CIP Canada and Elder of St. George's Anglican Church, among many other roles. Eric was an avid reader, outdoorsman and gardener. He loved spending Sunday afternoon with his kids & grandchildren as well as his summers camping at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. His trademark sense of humour, endearing personality and love of life will be missed by all who knew him (including the wildlife on the Ottawa river). OBITUARY BERTHA WILDE (NEE PITTS) Peacefully passed away at the age of ninety-two on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Charles Lemoyne Hospital in Greenfield Park. She is predeceased by her husband James in 1943 and survived by two nieces Connie and Betty Ann and sister-in-law Rita Wilde. Devoted friend of Betty Grant, Chantal, Leslie, Malakai and Troy and also Allan and Ruth Sargent, Sean and Steven. She was a dedicated teacher and administrator at the Chambly County High School in St. Lambert for more than 25 years. Bertha will be remembered by her passions for bowling, gardening, singing, her love for family and friends and her favorite pet Rusty. We would like to thank the personnel at Central Park Lodge for their loving care for the past five years, especially the staff on the fourth floor and her many friends at the lodge. LAPRISE Lucille Tremblay LAPRISE (Mme Lucille Tremblay) Le 16 juin 2007, est décédée au Foyer St-Francois, à l'âge de 96 ans et 11 mois, Mme Lucille Tremblay, épouse de feu M. Thomas Laprise, fille de feu Mme Léda Lagacé et de feu M. Eugène Tremblay. Elle demeurait au 912, Jacques-Cartier Est à Chicoutimi, autrefois de Falardeau. La famille a accueili les parents et ami(e)s à l'Alliance Funéraire du Royaume Résidence Ste-Claire 345, rue St-Armand Chicoutimi (face à l'église Ste-Claire) Les funérailles ont eu lieu le mardi 19 juin 2007 à 11 h à l'église de St-David-de-Falardeau et l'inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Lucille est partie rejoindre son époux Thomas Laprise, ses fils Mauril et Paulin. De cette union sont nés quatre enfants: Mauril, Gilbert, Gilberte et Marie-Luce. Elle fut la mère adoptive de Paulin. Elle était la belle-mère de Marie, Jocelyne, Jacques et Donald. Elle était la grand-mère de 15 petits-enfants: Marlène, Marc-André, Thérèse, Diane, Sonia, Jacques, Chantal, Danielle, Andrée, Éric, Françoise, Michel, Nathalie, Mario et Julie. Elle était l`arrièregrand-mère de 18 arrière-petits-enfants. Elle était la belle-sœur de Joseph Laprise et de Rita Laprise. Elle laisse également dans le deuil plusieurs neveux et nièces parents et ami(e)s. Born in 1925 in West Dalhousie, NS, she was the daughter of the late Alice and William Henry Ramsey. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Albert of South Port, MB, Stephen Albert (Jo-Ann) of Saint John, Robert Crossman (Gladys) of Saint John and Daniel Metzler of St. Andrews; sisters, Irene Rice of Lake La Rose, N.S and Nina Rice of Grandville Ferry, N.S; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will mourn her passing. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her sisters, Grace Ashe, Annie Mailman, Blanche Mailman-Leonard; and brothers, Howard, Arthur and Billy Ramsey and Donald Briggs. For many years, Ruth Evangeline provided foster care for special needs children and was devoted to their care and welfare. At her request, there will be no visitation. Jean Louise Milburn 1926-2007 RIVERSIDE-ALBERT, NB - Jean Milburn, 80, of Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert and formerly of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the nursing home. Jean was born in Albert Mines, Albert County, N.B. on September 30, 1926, the daughter of the late Gordon and Mildred (Milton) Wilson. Jean was a housewife. She was a member of the Hillsborough United Church, she was active in her church when she was able, singing in the choir and also being a member of the United Church Women. She loved her family very much, Jean and her husband Grenville were a couple that would help anyone who needed a hand. Jean always had a smile and a sweet personality, she will be fondly remembered by many. She will be deeply missed by her two sisters, Ruth Terris (Dale) of Riverview and Sandra Steeves of Edgett's Landing; sister-in-law, Welda Wilson of Albert Mines; several nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by all of her husband's family, the Milburns, where she held a special place in their hearts. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Grenville; and by her brother, Wendell. There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Hillsborough United Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 2pm with Rev. Hugh Farquhar officiating. Nancy A. Farris Nancy A. Farris of Moncton passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, June 15, 2007. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of Ken Farris, Moncton and the late Anne (Fairweather) Farris. Nancy was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, and a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at the Moncton Hospital (Pediatrics) with 30 years service. She was a graduate of Moncton High School and Moncton Community College. A member of the CNIB and Moncton YMCA. She enjoyed swimming, reading, crocheting, cooking, gardening, carpentry and driving her Jeep. Nancy enjoyed spending quality time with her friends and family, she had a great love for animals, especially her cats, Bubbles, Chunk-e and Bandit. Besides her father, Nancy will be sadly missed by her sisters, Susan Farris, Moncton; Linda Farris, Geary; brother, Bruce (Gizele), Moncton; very special cousins, Bev and Sharon Colburne, Moncton; one niece; three nephews. Robert Partridge DORCHESTER, NB - The death of Robert Partridge, age 44, of Dorchester, occurred as the result of an accident at Dorchester, NB on Saturday, June 16, 2007. Born in Moncton, he was a chosen son of Ernest and Janet (Spidle) Partridge. Robert was a galvanizer with Atlantic Industries, Dorchester Cape, loved the outdoors, hunting and gardening. He was a previous employee with Cape Bald Packers and in voluntary military service for 6 years. He was a member of the Dorchester United Baptist Church. Also survived by his loving daughter Glenda (son-in-law Simon Snow) of Toronto. Dear brother of Brian (Carole) of Hanmer, Albert (Kathleen), Nell Knight and Bertha Yzereef all of North Bay. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren. Predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth (1997), his parents, John C. Restoule and Pauline Dokis, his brother Nelson Restoule and his sister Marilyn Restoule. Howard began working at a young age on Dokis First Nation, helping to build a connecting road from Dokis Island towards Monetville. After moving to North Bay in the late 1940's, Howard was employed by R.J. Minogue & Co., Truco Inc. and the Ontario Metis & Non-Status Indian Assoc. In 1982 Howard became the Executive Director of the Ininew Friendship Centre in Cochrane and successfully remained until 1997, leaving to be with his beautiful wife Elizabeth until her passing. Howard worked for Beaverhouse First Nation in Kirkland Lake until 2003 when his ill health took over. He battled many health problems with courage and dignity. Howard never let his ill health take away his beautiful smile. He will be remembered always for his gentle spirit, intelligent mind and the love for his family. Special thanks to all nurses of North Bay General Hospital who took good care of Howard for his many hospital stays. Thanks to Dr. Prins and Dr. Phillipson and staff at Cassellholme 2 North. NOBLE, Henrietta Louise - Peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, June 15th, 2007 at Grey Bruce Health Services in Markdale in her 81st year.
