HUMPHREY, Eileen Mildred - Mrs. Eileen Mildred Humphrey died peacefully at Cassellholme on Thursday June 14, 2007 at the age of 95 years. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles, who predeceased her in 1978. The dearly loved mother of W.W. C. “Bill“ Humphrey and his wife Sharron of Temagami and June Humphrey-Duggan of Ottawa, she was predeceased by her son Robert Clarke “Carpy“ in 1980. She will be lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her 4 great great grandchildren. Eileen is also survived by her brother Gary Huff of Peterborough and was predeceased by brothers Willet and Lorne Huff and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, with special thanks to those who visited. Long time residents of Temagami Eileen and Charles where entrepreneurs and operated several business throughout their colourful lives. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Saturday afternoon June 16th from 2:00 p.m. until time for services in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Callander Union Cemetery.

MARSH, John Edwin “Jack“ - Peacefully after a lengthy battle at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday June 16th, 2007 in his 72nd year. Long time companion of the late Yvonne Robertson; loving father of Sheila of Brantford, Andrew, Peter and Kerry, all of Pittsburgh PA; loving step father of Lynn Schmidt; proud grandfather and great grandfather of several grandchildren; beloved brother of Rena Harris of Nova Scotia and Carolyn Fountain of Hamilton; Jack was predeceased by his son Stanley, his sisters Norma Hines and Joyce Dumsinel and his brother James. Jack retired from Hussmans Ltd. after working for 28 years. He was an active and dedicated volunteer for the Stedman Community Hospice. KAVANAGH, Millicent Constance (nee McRae) After a full and valuable life, and a short but courageous struggle against cancer, Millicent passed away in Ottawa on June 14th, 2007 in her 78th year. Millicent was the daughter of Douglas and Constance (Dingle) of Toronto. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Robert, her children, Stephen and Judy, her brother Kenneth McRae and his wife Dorothea, her nieces Patricia, Sandra, Karen, and Susan McRae. Millicent's life was centred around music. She was a piano pupil of Lubka Kolessa in Toronto and her subsequent teaching career reflected the influence of that renowned performer. She commenced her teaching career in Toronto. This was followed by over 20 years in Fredericton, then another 23 years in Ottawa. She was much loved by her students, who ranged from beginners to retirees. A one time music critic for the Frederiction Daily Gleaner, she was active in many musical organizations including the Registered Music Teachers' Associations in New Brunswick and Ontario, music festivals in Fredericton and Ottawa and Gilbert and Sullivan Societies in Fredericton and Ottawa. Friends are invited to visit the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St, Ottawa on Wednesday, June 20th, from 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, June 21st at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival or the Ottawa Hospital would be appreciated. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Shirley is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Peter) Spear and Cindy (Kenny) Seamans both of St. George; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Muriel Bennett of Pennfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Wanda Savard and Sharon Murray; three brothers, Allan, Basil and Daryl; and two sisters, Betty Bennett and Kathleen Ancrum. Shirley was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) in Pennfield and, prior to her retirement, employed by Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. David Drewett 1939-2007 CAPE STATION, NB - David Drewett, 67, of Cape Station, passed away at his home on Friday, June 15, 2007 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. David was born in London, England on August 18, 1939, the son of the late William and Linda (Thompson) Drewett. He worked in plumbing, carpentry and construction. He was very dedicated to making sure the modular homes that were in production were up to code and safe for families, he was instrumental in getting laws and legislation changed. This was one of his passions and he was very proud of the fact the houses he built were safe for the families that called it home. He enjoyed gardening, reading, bird watching, doing puzzles and walking through the woods. He even donated some of his land to be made into a bird sanctuary. His family was very important to him and he cherished all the times they spent together. He will be fondly remembered by his loving family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 39 years, Marilyn (Deeton) Drewett; daughters, Julie Duffy (Andrew) of Vernon, B.C., Nadine Weeks (Richard) of Chilliwack, B.C.; sons, Jason of Chilliwack, B.C. and Gregory of Cape Station; sister, Pat Mustafa (Jan) of Kitchener, Ont.; brother, John of England; and by his precious grandchildren, Ryan and Brandy. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Jean Acton. The family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the Albert County Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Eveline M. Kearns 1926-2007 Eveline Kearns passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 16th 2007 at Pro Tem Health Services, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ste. Anne de Kent on October 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Sarah Richard. Eveline worked for the National Parole Board for many years. Following her retirement, she was an active volunteer with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Canadian Mental Health Association, and the Canadian Red Cross Blood Drive. Eveline is survived by her daughter, Lisa Cox (Jon) of Waverley, NS; sisters, Lina Daigle (late Alphonse), Ella Raymond (late Herve), Emerise Richard, Yvette Robichaud (Zoel); cherished grandson, Benjamin Cox; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. STEWART, Milton Gordon P. Eng. - of St. George, Ontario (formerly of Dundas, Ontario) passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 90 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, June 16, 2007. Milton is the last surviving member of the family of Frank and Kathleen Stewart of Prince Edward Island. Milton was a long time employee of Texaco Canada where he was a specialist in industrial lubricants. He was an active member of the Baptist Church in both Dundas and St. George. Milton was an avid model railroader. Beloved husband of Jean. Predeceased by his first wife Roberta (Manders) in 1988. Born in Tilbury East Township, son of the late Alberto and Vera (McLeod) Cowan. Devoted husband of Patricia “Pat” (Gates) with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage. DIAPER, Edwina Doris Louise - Peacefully, after a brief illness, on 12 June 2007, in Portsmouth, England, aged 82. Born in Portsmouth on 10 June 1925, Edwina trained at Salisbury Teachers' College after the war and later graduated from Queen's University (BA & MEd). World traveller, cat-lover, and keen gardener, she had a long and eclectic career as a teacher, first in England, then in Ottawa, at various schools in the Kingston area, as Education Officer at the Prison for Women, and overseas in Zambia, in London, as well as in Nigeria and Lesotho. Edwina is survived by Dennis, her husband of 58 years; her children Oriel (George MacLennan) in Halifax, Megan (David Campbell) in Kingston, Charles (Carol Parkin) in Glasgow and Mark (Birgit Eggers) in Berlin; her granddaughters Georgia Campbell, Charlotte Eggers, and Emilia Eggers; and her nephew the Rev. Clive Clapson (Katie Clapson) and her great-nieces Lucy Clapson and Cecilia Clapson in Scotland. She was predeceased by infant twin grandsons Benjamin and Daniel Campbell in 1985. A memorial service and interment will take place at noon on 19 July 2007 at the Church of the Resurrection in Drayton, Portsmouth, England, with a reception to follow. CHAPMAN, Lulu (Lu) Hazel - Lu passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Kingston General Hospital, with her daughter and her grandson by her side. Lu was in her 96th year. Formerly of Gravenhurst and North Bay, Lu was a long time Kingston resident of Marion Community Homes, and Fairmount Home. A woman of great strength and endless kindness, Lu will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her beloved daughter Anna Pigeau, son-in-law Ernie Pigeau, granddaughter Elizabeth O'Connor (John O'Connor), grandson John Pigeau, and her great grandsons Jacob, Christopher, Jora, and Benjamin O'Connor. She will be affectionately remembered as well by Ted and Joan Chapman of Jarvis, Bob and Marilyn McAfee of Bowmanville, and Gregory McLeod of Toronto. Lu's family would like to thank the staff of the Acute Stroke Care Unit at KGH for the exceptional care, and extend its deepest gratitude to Lu's best friend, Edith Jones, and to the staff of Fairmount Home. Mabel was the proud Grandmother of 28 and Great Grandmother of 36, each new baby had a very special place in her heart. Mabel not only raised 11 children but later found the time and energy to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She was an avid bingo and euchre player.
