A Belleville resident all her life, Millie was predeceased by her husband Donald Matthews, daughter and son-in-law Dianne and Peter Griffin and their son Mathew, grandson John Bastedo, her four sisters Edna Denyes, Dorothy Jones, Doris Culhane and Norma Tomaso and two brothers, Floyd and Bill Wood. She is survived by her youngest sister, Vivian Christopher. Loving mother of Doreen (and the late Doug) Bastedo of Belleville, Nancy (and Jack) Haggerty of Horseshoe Valley and Donald Matthews of Nanton, Alberta. She will be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. GRIMES, Joe - A memorial service for the late Joseph William Grimes, of Point Edward, formerly of Sarnia, was held on Wednesday, May 23rd from the Chapel of the D.J. Robb Funeral Home with Angela MacDonald officiating. The musical selection “What a Wonderful World“ was played during the service and a eulogy was given by Joe's cousin Greg Grimes. Joe was the dear husband of Joy Timmington, loving brother of Jerilynne Charron of Sarnia, uncle of Kara, Michelle and Tyler and Jen (Clayton), Trish, Nikki and James, nephew of Larry Grimes, Florence and Ron Egan and Mame and Jack Page, brother in law of Mary Ann Kumli and her husband Marcel of British Columbia, Wayne Timmimgton and Lee Toole both of Point Edward. Many, many cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Mary Grimes. Joe was employed for over 25 years with the L.C.B.O., was a member of the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen's Club, Point Edward Optimists and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 62. NOVAK - The Reverend Nicholas, on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the Bethlen Home in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, at age 81. Minister of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Welland for 21 years, (1949- 1970). He was a gifted preacher and charismatic leader, loved and respected by his congregation. It was during his ministry that the church and manse were built. Predeceased by his brother, Leslie Novak, he leaves behind his children: Leslie, Nicholas Daniel Novak (Siobhan), Kathleen Barbara Dussome (Rick), five grandchildren Alicia, Amy, Cameron and Matthew Novak and Thomas Dussome, as well as his first wife, Magda (Madeline) Novak, many relatives, friends and members of the congregations he served both in Canada and the U.S. The Welland congregation, at the age 22, was his first charge, and remained dearest to his heart. A Memorial Service will be held for him on Saturday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church. TKACHUK, Kolton Kyle - Kolton became our guardian angel suddenly on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 3 years of age. Loving son of Kyle and Frances and beloved brother of Felicia. McALLISTER, Frances Eleanor (nee Border) - With great sadness we announce Fran's passing in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday, May 4th following a lengthy illness. Frances was born January 7, 1944 in Owen Sound to Al “Dude“ Border and Marion Border (nee Glenn) and always had a special place in her heart for her hometown. As a young woman, Fran was involved with Division Street United Church CGIT, competing in roller skating with the Bay City Roller Club, and attending St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. As an adult, she was a very active member and volunteer of the Army Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada and Royal Canadian Legion and an avid competitor and organizer in darts, shuffleboard and ladies snooker leagues. Remaining to cherish Fran's memory are her husband of 42 years, Ian; daughters Louise (Andrew) and Laurie (Chris); grandchildren Preston, Kyle and Brittany Drinnan and Tyler and Nicholas Fletcher. In compliance with Fran's wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family service will be held in Owen Sound at a later date. 10661832

QUANN, Gail Frances - After a courageous and joyous life and a lengthy illness, Gail Frances Quann in her 46th year, passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 21st, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at the University Hospital, London. Gail was a cherished daughter, sister and aunt, a beloved friend and a dedicated teacher. Gail will be sadly missed by her parents, Michael and Mary Quann of Trenton, her brother Mark Quann and his wife Lee of Belleville, her sister Valerie Quann and her husband Jason Fisher of Toronto, her sister-in-law Carolyn Kay and her husband Tom Childs of Peterborough and the lights of her life, her nieces and nephews, Michael and Amanda Quann, Rayne and Ever Fisher-Quann and Sebastian Kay. She was predeceased by her brother, Shannon Quann. For 22 years, Gail was a dedicated kindergarten teacher with the York Catholic District School Board, whose members always treated her with care and compassion. She will be greatly missed by the many children, families and colleagues whose lives she touched. Gail was born on December 27th, 1961 in Gatineau, QC and was educated in Trenton at Breadner Public and Bayside Secondary Schools. She was a proud alumnus of King's College at the University of Western Ontario and earned her teaching degree at the University of Toronto. The family would like to extend deepest thanks and appreciation to the Health Care Practitioners at University Hospital, London, especially Dr. Wall, Dr. Ghent and all the nurses and staff on the Transplant Unit.
