BOREHAM, Sydney Andre - Passed away at Fairhaven Nursing Home, Peterborough on Friday April 13th, 2007 in his 91st year. Son of the late Alfred and Jessie Boreham. Beloved husband of the late Lillian and the late Madeline (nee: Mayhew). Remembered by his sons Leonard, Robert and their families, 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and stepsons Thomas, Frank, Charlie, Pat Monahan, step daughter Carolyn MacDonald and their families. Predeceased by his son Jim. Survived by his brothers Leonard and Cliff and his sister Gladys and predeceased by his brothers Robert, Cyril and Albert. In 1943, Sydney enlisted and served as a nurse in the Army and upon his discharge took a nursing position at Kingston General Hospital. From there he spent the latter part of his working life as a Medical Officer at Warkworth Penitentiary. BOYER, Joan of Stevensville passed away at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Monday April 16, 2007. Joan successfully owned and operated her Professional Accounting practice, Joan Boyer - FCGA for small to medium businesses including tax, estate planning, financial and management consulting since 1982, after obtaining her CGA designation. Her business continues to thrive. Joan served on the board of the CGA Association, Niagara Chapter and served on various committees and as Chairman for the 1984 -1985 term. She was appointed as auditor for the Niagara chapter of CGA for both 1994 and 1995. She also served as Chairman of the Niagara Housing Authority for 6 years between 1976 and 1984 with a mandate to provide affordable housing to low income earners and senior citizens. Joan was also involved with the Port Colborne - Wainfleet Economic Resource Centre, serving 1 year as director and 3 years as treasurer between 1986 and 1989. The mandate was to provide loans to viable small businesses in the community that were unable to obtain financing through traditional outlets. She was also involved in the Port Colborne Economic Development Commission from 1989 to 1991 with a mandate to increase development in the community, identifying a strategic plan for growth and published benefits to businesses for relocation. Joan also served on the Port Colborne General Hospital Foundation Board as treasurer, the mandate was to raise funds in the community to upgrade hospital equipment and build a palliative care unit. During her tenure, she successfully achieved both of these objectives. She served on the Port Colborne Hospital Board of Directors, elected as a director in June 1994 and as treasurer in 1996. The board is responsible for the operation of the hospital, finance and administration. Joan was also involved in fundraising for the Show Boat Theatre in Port Colborne. She also served 6 years on the Council of the Ontario College of Pharmacists between 1996 and 2002. Joan was the recipient of many awards - 1997 FCGA Designation, 1996 Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario - Life Membership, 1992 Employment and Immigration Canada - Recognition for outstanding volunteer contributions, 1989 Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario - Ontario Distinguished Service Award, 1987 Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario - Chapter Distinguished Service Award, 1984 Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing - Distinguished Award and in 1984 Ontario Housing Corporation - Good Citizenship Award for outstanding Contributions to social housing. Most importantly, Joan will be remembered as a trusted Friend, loving Grandmother, Mother and Wife. ARMSTRONG, Cecile - God saw you getting tired a cure was not to be. So he wrapped his arms around you and whispered come with me. The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Cecile Armstrong, beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished Gram and Great Nana on April 22, 2007 at the Sault Area Hospital. Dearly loved life partner of Harold and much loved mother of David (Guylaine), William, Veronica (Charlie) and Irene (Fred). Forever treasured “Gram“ to Bill (Julie), Robin (Andre), Christine, Marc, David, Jesse, James and Stephanie. Special “Great Nana“ to Gage, Chucky, Alexandra and Hailey. Veronica Garland, sister-in-law who often said “Cecile was the sister I never had.“ Sister of William Mann, predeceased by her brother Edward and sister, Margaret. Cecile will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cecile began her life in Hawk Junction, Ontario, born to Louise Souliere on May 13, 1932 and raised by her grandparents Bill and Mary Souliere. She met her life partner Harold in Hawk Junction where they found a strong base to express their love and raise a family together. She had a quiet presence but it was her inner strength and outward perseverance that was the true foundation of her character. Often described as a “great cook“ she was also an artist in her own way. Cecile always loved living and giving back to the community of Hawk Junction. Together they made the decision to move to the Sault for all the right reasons. Without a doubt it was an emotional time since both were leaving the home where they lived together for 47 years. When Harold and Cecile moved to Sault Ste. Marie they had great plans to travel, However, these dreams were short lived when the horrible disease of diabetes progressed. For the past three years, her soul mate became her primary care giver so she could stay at home. Harold naturally assumed this role with unconditional love and strong conviction to care for and to protect Cecile as they both committed to one another over 50 plus years ago. At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cecile was cremated and will be brought home one more time with her family at her side where a graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Hawk Junction on June 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. A gathering will follow at the Hawk Junction Community Hall. In memory of Cecile donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Fritz, Dr. Fratesi and Dr. Gasparelli, the staff of the Sault Area Hospital and the many nurses and home support workers for the care and compassion shown to Cecile while she was in their care. Legault Gérard 1920 - 2007 Legault Gérard C'est avec une grande tristesse que la famille de Gérard Legault vous annonce son décès à l'âge de 86 ans survenu à son domicile de Ville Mont-Royal le 20 avril 2007 après une courte maladie. Conjoint bien aimé de Zobeed Ali pour plus de 26 ans, il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants qu'il aimait tant, Ronald, Robert, Roger Linda, leur mère Mary Quinn, ses petits-enfants dont il était si fier, Margo, Gérard, Aimee, Jonathan, Michael, Emily, Gary et Kelsey. Tout jeune, il a interrompu ses études pour apporter son aide sur la terre familiale. Ensuite il a travaillé pour la Brasserie Molson, il a servi comme officier de police pour la ville de Verdun et comme police militaire pendant la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale; après la guerre, il a lutté professionnellement sous le nom de "Golden Terror". Il a trouvé sa voie dans le domaine de l'immobilier et, tout en opérant le Village Suisse de Val-David, il s'est adonné à sa passion pour les activités extérieures, tel que le golf, le ski, les voyages... Une liturgie de la Parole aura lieu mardi à 11 heures en la chapelle du complexe. George Raymond Falloon It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George at the Ste-Anne Hospital on Friday, April 20, 2007. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 24 years, Heather; their children Devon and Savanah; sister Marlene Blackman; brother Jim Falloon (Lynda); brother-in-law Ian Thomson (Cherrlyn); and nieces and nephews Jaclynn and Jennifer Blackman, Daniel and Maureen Falloon, and Mary (Tim) and Raymond Thomson. Also mourning George are Heather’s family Alex and Anne Love, Carol (Garth) German, Stuart (Brenda) Love and their families. George was predeceased by his parents Bob and Helen; his brother Garnet and his sister Marjorie Thomson. George was a cheerful, devoted and loving husband and father who placed great value on, and experienced great joy in creating a happy home for his dear wife and children. He worked tirelessly to raise his children well and to nurture his relationships with family and friends. George deeply enjoyed the game of hockey as both a participant and fan. He organized shinny hockey in Landmark for many years. He also greatly enjoyed the summer he spent outdoors at his trailer at various campsites on Lake Winnipeg. George was very involved in Aboriginal spirituality, and encouraged Devon and Savanah to embrace their heritage through dancing, drumming and actively participating in Pow Wows in Canada and the United States. In addition to being a faithful Catholic, George embraced these teachings in his life journey, as well. George was employed for many years as a bus driver, currently with Winnipeg Transit, and previously with the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities. We will never forget you and all the memories we made together...We love you. WILCOX, VINTON EVERETT - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 22, 2007, Mr. Vinton Everett Wilcox husband of Mrs. Leona (Robichaud) Wilcox of Utopia NB. Born in Wood Island, Grand Manan NB on February 13th, 1932, he was a son of the late Cecil and Ona (Benson) Wilcox. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, besides his wife he is survived by six sons; Michael (Suzanne) of Pennfield NB, Robert (Angie) of Geary NB, Stephen Wilcox of Utopia, James (Rita) and Daniel (Patricia) both of Pennfield and David (Joyce) of Wainwright AB, one daughter; Peggy (Roger) McLaughlin of Saint John NB, 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three brothers; Roger (Lois) of Utopia, Gerald (Marcia) of Saint John, Lloyd (Debbie) of Lincoln NB, two sisters; Mary (John) Thorne of Saint John and Rose Wilcox (Roland Chater) of Utopia, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Ernie Wilcox. Vinton served with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Crewman for 23 years. He was stationed at Borden, Petawawa and Gagetown. In 1964 he served a peace keeping tour in Cyprus. Both before and after his military career, Vinton also was a fisherman. He enjoyed reading, and loved westerns and war history. Vinton also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held, from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating, followed by interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 40 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 pm. MCKAY, DORIS MAY We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Doris May McKay on April 19th at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in 1921 in Hastings, England, she was the daughter of Frank and Florence (Hart) Hutchinson. She served in the British land army and in the Royal Air Force during World War II. She met her future husband, Roger, when he served in the medical corps during the war. She came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 and first settled in Quebec with her husband. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Roger, her brother Frank, and her sister Violet. She is survived by three sisters, Katherine (Bert) Mitchell, Rose Donaldson and Florence Curd, a brother, Ernie (Maureen) Hutchinson and a cousin, Louise Hinwood, all of whom live in England and a brother- in-law, Robert Simmons of British Columbia. She also leaves three daughters, Linda (Antonino) Giudice, Suzanne McKay and Anne McKay, all of New Maryland. Nana was very proud of her three grandchildren, Mirella Giudice (Stéphane Arabackyj), Gina Giudice and Michael (Janice) Giudice, and great granddaughter, Sophia. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her determination, unfailing good nature and devotion to her family. She was a member of the Fredericton War Brides Association and St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church. A public visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 24th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road. The funeral mass will be on Wednesday, April 25th at 12 p.m. at St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church. Internment will follow at the Hermitage Cemetery on Woodstock Road.
