TYERS, Stewart - February 24, 1924 - April 21, 2007. As the sun rose with the promise of a glorious day, Stewart left this world to be with his Lord and Saviour. Stewart came from a family of 9 siblings and grew up on a farm outside of North Bay. He served in the RCAF during WWII, stationed in England. Upon returning he worked as a millwright, mainly for INCO in Sudbury and Ford in Oakville. NASON, WALTER MELVIN Walter Melvin Nason, 72, of Fredericton passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday April 20th, 2007. Born on August 4, 1934 in Fredericton Junction, Walter was the son of the later Victor and Clara (Hartt) Nason. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Audrey (Peterson); sons, Roger (Wendy) of Moncton, Paul (June) of Saint John; and grandchildren, Bradley, Gregory, Matthew, Ryan and Jillian. Walter was predeceased by his sister, Miriam, and is survived by brothers, Vernon (Irma), Ross (Ida), Burt (Jackie); and sisters, Glenna Bell and Carol King. Walter graduated from UNB Fredericton with a degree in Survey Engineering in 1963, and worked for NB Power until his retirement in 1993. In 2000, Walter took a position as the Planned Giving Officer for the Chalmers Foundation where he worked until 2005. Walter was very involved in his community and was a member of many organizations, including the Capital Winter Club, YMCA, Golden Club, Gage Golf Club, and Prostate Cancer Support Group. Walter was a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of NB and the Past President of the Association of New Brunswick Land Surveyors. Walter was very active in the sport of curling on many levels. As a player his achievements included playing in the 1972 Brier, two Senior Legion Nationals, and winning the 1994 Canadian Senior Curling Championships with a team that was inducted to the Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame. Walter was a CCA certified Curling Coach, Instructor and builder of the sport. He volunteered for, and chaired many events, and was the Past President of the New Brunswick Curling Association. Visitation will be at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, Fredericton on Tuesday April 24th, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at Wilmot United Church on Wednesday, April 25th, at 1:00 pm. Rev. Gilbert Todd officiating. BRONISZEWSKI, DOMINIC ALEXANDER - The death of Dominic Alexander Broniszewski, loving husband of Rosemary (Walton) Broniszewski, of Hickey Road, Saint John occurred on April 20, 2007 at his residence with his family by his side. Born 1920 in Montreal, PQ, he was the son of the late Stanislaw and Bronislava (Grabowska) Broniszewski. He was a veteran of WWII. Dominic worked as a Longshoreman with the International Longshoremen's Association for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Thomas Traer CHATHAM - Mr. Thomas Traer of Queen St. in Chatham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21st, at the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home at the age of 80. Tom was the youngest son of the late Albert and Laura (McLean) Traer. Tom was a member of St. Michael's parish and the Miramichi Golf and Country Club. He owned and operated Traer's Grocery in Chatham from 1958-1990. DeWITT, GEORGE ALBERT The death of George Albert DeWitt, age 89 of Tracy, New Brunswick occurred on April 21, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was born in Tracy, New Brunswick and was the only son of the late Otis DeWitt and Florence (Carr) DeWitt. George was employed as a stationary engineer at Base Gagetown until his retirement. He was a former Mayor and councilor of the Village of Tracy, N.B. He also served on the Fredericton Junction Hospital Board for some years. George was most proud of being a longtime member of the Tracy Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. George was an avid bowler and loved to hunt and fish where he spent many falls guiding at Little Lake. He also enjoyed working at Bingo and playing cards at the Tracy Rec. Centre. George DeWitt is survived by his wife of 67 years, Violet (Turnbull) DeWitt. One sister, Blanche Bennett, of Mill Cove Nursing Home. Four grandchildren, Timothy (Leona) DeWitt, Wendy (Ken) Giberson, Debbie (Bruce) Smith and David (Sandra) DeWitt. Eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two children, Glendon George DeWitt (Joyce), Joanne Marie Webb (Richard). Four sisters, Barbara Phillips, Mildred Golden, Marjorie Phillips and Dorothy Lyons. His remains are resting in the Family Center of the Tracy Baptist Church, Tracy, N.B. Visitation will take place on Monday, April 23, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at Tracy Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Cormier SACKVILLE - The death of Bernadette Cormier, age 74, wife of Camille Cormier, of Sackville occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 22, 2007. She was a daughter of the late Aladdin and Genevieve (Bourque) Cormier A mother, she loved her home and her family. Interested in people in her community, together with her husband, Camille, she attended numerous community functions. She was a member of the St. Vincent Roman Catholic Church and life member of the Sackville Rod and Gun Club and former member of the Sackville Lion's Club. GOOLD, BARB - Barb Goold of St. George Street, Sussex passed away at her residence on Friday, April 20, 2007 at the age of 75, after a valiant fight with cancer. Born in London, Ontario on March 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Ellen (Findlay) Stringer. Barb is survived by Arthur, her beloved husband of 51 years; three daughters, Pam Goold, Shari Brenan and her husband Fred, and Karen Goold, all of Sussex; her brother, Robert Stringer of Sussex Corner; four grandchildren, Callie Northrup, Nathan, Kate and Megan Brenan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by her infant daughter, Cynthia Louise who passed away in 1958; and by her sister-in-law, Annie Stringer who passed away in 1993. Barb spent her life raising her family and working alongside Art at Goold's Nurseries. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. HUMPHRIES, Robert – of Welland, at the Welland County General Hospital, on Thursday, April 19, 2007 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Arlene Humphries (nee, Isherwood). Loving father of Cyndie Buri (Dennis) of Port Colborne, Brad Humphries (Lori) of St. Catharines and Derek Humphries (Patricia) of Welland. Cherished grandfather of Andrea, Devon, Austin, Sierra and Kendra-Bobbi. Dear brother of Violet Needham of St. Catharines, June Butler of Virginia and Loretta Bassett of St. Catharines and brother-in-law of Yolande Humphries of St. Catharines and Dilwyn Isherwood of Welland. Lovingly remembered by Robin & Robby and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, William & Muriel Humphries and a brother Jim Humphries. Robert was employed at Blake's Mens Shop for some 30 years retiring in 1995. A private family service conducted by Rev. Glen Barrett was held at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Help A Child Smile would be greatly appreciated by the family.
