ZIMMER, Eric James. 1950 - 2007. "We did not have the time to say goodbye, but you are only a thought away." At CSSS D'Argenteuil in Lachute on April 18, 2007 at the age of fifty-six. He was the son of the late Theodore Edward Zimmer and the late Florence Morrow. Predeceased by his brother Ernie and two sisters, Daphne and Elizabeth Florence. He leaves to mourn his other brothers and sisters, John (Liz), Joan (Paddy), Billy (Linda), Cathy (Dean), Sherrie, Teddie, nephews, nieces, a close friend Guy L'Esperance and numerous other friends. The funeral will be held on Monday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at the Baptist Church of Dalesville. BRUCE, Margot Christina (nee Whalley) 1960-2007 Much loved wife of Christopher and extra special Mum to Cameron and Graeme, peacefully, after a courageous fight with cancer on April 19th 2007 at Briargate Residence in Amherstview. Margot is also survived by her parents, Basil and Joan Whalley; her siblings, Barbara (Gordon Lovelace), Michael (Roberta), Rosalind, Frank, and her in-laws, The Rt Rev George and Theo Bruce (Andrew, Christina, Robert, and Krista). A Memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at the Cathedral Church of St George, King and Johnson Streets, Kingston at 11 am on Friday April 27th, 2007. Visitation will take place on Thursday April 26th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at James Reid Funeral Home on Counter Street and at the Cathedral for one hour prior to the Memorial Service. GREENBERG, Irving It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irving Greenberg, peacefully at home after living valiantly with lung cancer for seven months. He loved and was loved by his wife Evelyn and by his children Peter (Lori), Michael (Debbie) and Leslie. He adored his precious grandchildren Brianna, Amy, Noah and Lauren and was devoted to his dear sister Gertrude Budovitch and his sister-in-law Jacquelin Holzman and their families. He was a respected member of the County of Carleton Law Society for over 50 years, a past president of Hillel Lodge and a proud member of Congregation Beth Shalom. The funeral will take place on Sunday, April 22, 2:00 p.m. at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue. Shiva will be observed at his home from Monday, April 23 to Thursday, April 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The family is grateful for the care and kindness of Drs. P.D. Stewart, S. HISSINK, Janet Mary (nee Russell) In Perth, on Monday, April 16, 2007, Janet Mary, beloved wife of Andre. Loving mother of John (Diane) in California, Linda (Karl) in Merrickville and Elisabeth in England. Proud grandmother of Karen, Mike, Brian (Anyes), Kate (Jeremy) and Alex (Mark) and great-grandmother of Morgan, Astrid, Ben and Jasper. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Gertrude Russell and her brother Ronald, and survived by her brother Peter. Janet was born in China in 1919 to British missionary parents and lived there and in England in her youth, meeting and marrying Andre, a Dutch airman stationed in England during the war. They married in Indonesia and during their 66-year marriage also lived in Australia, USA, England, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and New Zealand before settling in Canada. She is missed by all her family and friends. A lifelong lover of animals and birds, her furry friends Molly, Amy, Beau and Rosie also miss her. A private family celebration of her life will be held. KEARNS, Lise Ruth Peacefully in Ottawa surrounded by family on February 10, 2007. Born Lise Ruth Andersen in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 6, 1918. Lise left Denmark for England in 1938. With the outbreak of World War II, she joined the British Army and served as a physical training instructor. She met and married Corporal Aaron Denis Kearns of Ottawa in 1942 while he was serving in the Canadian Army. Lise arrived in Canada at Pier 21 in Halifax on December 16, 1944 with her infant daughter Ruth and continued to Ottawa where she joined her husbands family. Three more children followed after the war, Caroll, Sandra and Paul. Following the early death of her husband in 1951, Lise embarked on a career in sales and management before retiring in 1982. Her work ethic, honesty and love of family were the legacy that she left for all. She cherished the contact with her grandchildren and more recently her great grandchildren. Her daughter Caroll Boucher and her sister Gurli Young predeceased her. She is very much missed by her daughters Ruth (Dr. Jean Baribeau) and Sandra (John Thomas) of Ottawa, her son Paul (Yvonne) of Port Rowan and son-in-law Dr. Claude Boucher of Kapuskasing. Lise was Nana to grandchildren Andre Baribeau of Canmore, Anne-Marie Baribeau of Vancouver, Dr. Paul Boucher (Marianne) of Calgary, Dr. Julie Boucher (Chris Meilleur) of Kapuskasing, Dan Boucher (Johannah) of Ottawa, Aaron and Dylan Kearns of Port Rowan and great grandchildren Alexandra and Timothy Boucher and Emilie and Nicholas Meilleur. MURRAY, Roland Winton Roland Winton Murray passed away peacefully on April 16, 2007. "Roly" was the loving and loved husband of Jacqueline (Levesque), father of Marianne (Dan McLean) and Isabel, and proud grandfather of Cassandra Marie and John Roland McLean. He will also be greatly missed by his sisters Margaret (Guthrie Middleton) and Barbara Ann (Chris Hinde) as well as many friends, nieces, nephews and countless cousins from the Gaspe to Victoria, the US and Europe. Born in Woodstock, Ontario in 1927, Roly grew up in Toronto, graduating from York Memorial Collegiate and the University of Toronto. He won a scholarship to the Sorbonne where he obtained his doctorate in international law. He joined the Foreign Service and was posted to Pnom Penh, the Hague, Belgrade and Moscow, followed by senior government positions in Winnipeg and Ottawa with Transport Canada. Always a gentleman, Roland never lost his innate sense of courtesy, diplomacy and humour. He sought the best in people and left the world a better place. The Murray Family thanks the staff of the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre (PRVHC) for their outstanding care, comfort and support. SZTRAMKO, Jennifer, B.A.Sc., B.Ed. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 SZTRAMKO, Jennifer Irene (nee Moore) Promoted to the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour at her home on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 in her 57th year. Faithful, devoted and loving wife of Les of Simcoe. Cherished mother of Heather Hannah and her husband Philip, their children Nolan and Jayden; and Richard Sztramko, all of Simcoe. Dearly loved daughter of William Moore (the late Hilda Bicknell). Lovingly remembered by her sister, Dianne Droogh (John) of North Gower; brothers, Ed Moore (Sheila) of Ottawa and Rob Moore (Sharon) of Richmond. Sadly missed by Les' mother Wanda Sztramko and his brother Richard (Maria), all of Ottawa. Jennifer is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jennifer was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 4, 1950, and lived her first five years in Shediac, New Brunswick. Primary and high school years were spent in the Ottawa area Village of Richmond. In 1973, Jennifer graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in English and Family Studies; she continued her education the following year graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Education. She started her teaching career at the Norwich District High School where she taught for 5 years. Her family relocated to Wheatley Ontario from Simcoe where she stayed at home to raise her children for the next 7 years. When the family returned to Simcoe in 1987, Jennifer resumed her teaching career at the Simcoe Composite High School where she taught for the next 16 years attaining additional qualifications in English, Guidance, and Principal. Jennifer loved life. Her family, friends, students, colleagues, music (blues to church worship), nature, travel, and continual learning were all special to her. She served in a host of volunteer activities including; brownies, Sunday School teacher, minor hockey, woman's advocacy, chaperoning dances, directing student newspapers, cancer peer support, and church worship. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who guided her life and sustained her when she was struck with the cancer she battled for 5 years. She was always willing to share Jesus and her many Bibles with anyone who cared to listen. Friends shared their memories of Jennifer with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe on Thursday, April 5th. WATERMAN, Reginald James Ottawa Board of Education Teacher and Principal Reg passed away suddenly on April 18th, 2007 one day before his 78th birthday. Dear loving husband, friend and companion of Mary Geraldine Montgomery; former husband of the late Shirley Band Waterman. Much loved father of Karen Elizabeth (General Andrew Leslie); Barry Robert and Kenneth Donald. Stepfather of Kevin Montgomery (Anne), Cathy, Anne Claire (Gary White) and Brian. The greatest joy of his life in later years has been his grandchildren Alexander, Erica and Phillipa Leslie, Benjamin, Samuel, Blair and Ellen Waterman, Meagan and Brendan Montgomery and Rachel and Jonathan White. Reg was the son of the late Clementine Clara (Daisy Mae) MacDonald and the late Frederick William Waterman. Reg was a member of World University Services Canada for a few years he also taught in Jamaica for two years and also worked in Thailand. WAITE, Carolyn Fulton (nee Chaplow) - 1918 - 2007. With a deep sense of loss the family of Carolyn (Carrie) Waite announces her sudden passing on Thursday evening, April 19 at Caressant Care Nursing Facility, Bonnie Place, St. Thomas, Ontario. Youngest daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Chaplow, Mrs. Waite was predeceased by her husband Douglas Charles Waite (1992). The last of her family, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen; Elva (Mrs. Mark McCorvie): Gordon, William, Norman and John. She was the adored mother of Paul of St. Catharines, Carol (Gary Roberts) of Burlington and Margaret (Douglas Burgess) of Sarnia. Mrs. Waite was also much loved by her grandchildren Christopher and Jeffrey Roberts and Kendra Burgess and Lauren (Aaron) Kilbreath. Her sister-in-law Elizabeth (John) Chaplow also survives as well as two nieces and four nephews. Mrs. Waite was a devoted sister, wife, parent and grandparent. She was the best friend and constant support to her beloved Douglas during his twelve years of illness. Until she was no longer able to drive, she took great pleasure in chauffeuring her lady friends of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas, to worship each Sunday. She had been a member of the Women's Missionary Society at Knox Church and of the River Road Women's Institute. Mrs. Waite was also a former member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. DOAK, ARDEN EDWARD (1916-2007) The death of Arden Edward Doak occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on April 20, 2007. Born in Doaktown, New Brunswick, on the Mighty Miramichi, he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward Doak and Lizzie Louisa Holmes Doak. Mr. Doak was a respected educator. He began his career by teaching nine students at the one-room Upper Gaspereau School and retired, after forty active years in his profession, from the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick. A time of particular pride and sense of accomplishment in his career was his tenure as the first principal of the Upper Miramichi Regional High School. Among his many activities, Arden was past master of Hiram Lodge #6 F & AM; one of the founding members and past president of the Fredericton Golden Club; past president of the New Brunswick Retired Teachers' Association; past president of the Fredericton Music Festival; former board member of the Miramichi Board of Trade, Inc.; associate member of the Miramichi Salmon Association. He was also an Honourary Life Member of the New Brunswick Teachers' Association, Branch 1809, and Honourary Life Member of the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. Arden will be remembered best for the pride and love that he had of his family, his integrity and his keen sense of humour. Arden Doak is survived by his wife, Mabel Locke Doak; daughters Edith Doak, Dianne (Arnie) Wilkins, Nedra (Michael) Dionne, Charlene Doak- Gebauer (Mike); two sisters, Clara Haines, Laura (Kenneth) Savage; grandchildren, Brent and Jeffrey (Patricia) Clowater, Megan and Nancy Wilkins, Adam (Nancy), Kristal, Jacilyn, Mitchael Dionne, and Nolan Doak, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Josephine Norrad Doak, daughter Ardeth Doak Gardiner, brother Harold Doak, sisters Frances Doak McWhinnie, Edith Doak and grandson Christopher Gardiner. Predeceased by her parents Doris and William Rushworth; husband Paul Woodruff Burkholder; daughter-in-law Isabel Burkholder; Jean is survived by her children: Leslie James (Gail), Stephen Kenneth (Candy), Alison Joyce (Dan), and Philip David (Lynda); grandchildren: Jake, Miles and Luke; sister Gladys (Don) Fletcher; brother William Charles Rushworth; as well as three nieces and one nephew. Jean resided in Toronto and Peterborough, Ontario, and then moved to Regina in 2004. She had a lifelong love of learning, and was very active on the Board of Education in Etobicoke for many years. She was Senior of the Year 2002 in Peterborough, due to her extensive involvement in Senior's activities and organizations.
