HISSINK, Janet Mary (nee Russell) In Perth, on Monday, April 16, 2007, Janet Mary, beloved wife of Andre. Loving mother of John (Diane) in California, Linda (Karl) in Merrickville and Elisabeth in England. Proud grandmother of Karen, Mike, Brian (Anyes), Kate (Jeremy) and Alex (Mark) and great-grandmother of Morgan, Astrid, Ben and Jasper. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Gertrude Russell and her brother Ronald, and survived by her brother Peter. Janet was born in China in 1919 to British missionary parents and lived there and in England in her youth, meeting and marrying Andre, a Dutch airman stationed in England during the war. They married in Indonesia and during their 66-year marriage also lived in Australia, USA, England, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and New Zealand before settling in Canada. She is missed by all her family and friends. A lifelong lover of animals and birds, her furry friends Molly, Amy, Beau and Rosie also miss her. A private family celebration of her life will be held. PRICE, Stanley Reuben DFC, B.Sc (Eng) - Stan Price died peacefully on April 19th, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by his family, beloved wife of 59 years, Janet, and children, Donald, Sheila and Marion. He will be missed by his daughter-in-law, Gillian Cooper, and grandchildren Jordan and Rachel Devenport, and Connor and Geordie Price. Stanley, DOB 13/02/23, was the only child of Ernest and Carrie Price of Sault Ste. Marie. After joining the RCAF in 1942, Stan completed a tour of 32 operations over Germany, as a navigator on Halifax bombers, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Stanley met Janet Yates in Glasgow on 04-04-44. In 1947 Janet emigrated to Canada and they were married on June 28th, 1947. Stan attended Queen's University in Kingston and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree (Civil Engineering) in 1948 and represented Queen's on basketball and tennis teams. During his early professional career, Stan was a municipal engineer with the Town of Weston and the cities of Belleville and Niagara Falls. He was President of the Ontario City Engineers Association and Vice President of the Ontario Building Officials Association and the Ontario Pollution Control Federation. In 1963 he was appointed City Manager of Saint John, NB. In 1971 Stan returned to Niagara Falls as City Manager for the next ten years. During this period, he was elected Vice President of the International City Managers' Association and President of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators. In 1982, Stan relocated to Fredericton, NB, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He then travelled to Indonesia and Venezuela on municipal consulting contracts for the next five years. Stan volunteered with a variety of organizations and was a member of Kiwanis International for more than 50 years, Lieutenant Governor for N.B. and President of the Niagara Falls and Saint John Kiwanis Clubs. He also volunteered with the: Air Force Association; Canadian Aviation Historical Society; United Way; Meals on Wheels; Library Board; Royal Canadian Legion #139; and the Family Council of Chelsey Park Streetsville Long Term Care Facility. Stan was a long-time member and Kirk of Session Member of Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on May 12, at 2:00 pm at Erindale Presbyterian Church, 1560 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, ON. EVANS, Susan (nee Lang) - In loving memory of Susan Evans (nee Lang), 92 years, who passed away Friday, April 20th, 2007 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Sue was born in Carleton Place, Ontario on August 28th, 1914 to John and Sara (Donnelly) Lang. As a young woman seeking work, she migrated to Sudbury were she met her future husband, G.E. (Ted) Evans (predeceased 1977). They were married October 23rd, 1939 at the Church of the Epiphany, Sudbury. At that time, she became a lifelong tireless member of the parish. Sue was a well-known and active volunteer in her community and church. She was justifiably proud of her over sixty years of service with the Memorial (Sudbury Regional) Hospital Auxiliary. She was a life member of that organization, as well as a life member of the Anglican Church Women. She was a member of the Altar Guild of the Church of the Epiphany and served many times on the executive of all these groups. For many years, she organized the weekly memorial flowers for the altar of the parish and saw to their delivery to parishioners who were unable to attend services. Renowned for her cooking and baking, “Suse“ or “Aunt Sue“ will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and other family members who all had a favourite recipe that she would happily prepare for them. Conveners of fairs and bake sales at the church had only to telephone and generous donations of pies, cakes, loaves and cookies would result. Susan is survived by her son Ted Jr. (Janet) of Copper Cliff, grandsons David (Kendra) of Bolton, Ontario and Jason (Heather) of Sudbury, and great-granddaughter Alexandra. Sue was the last of her siblings. Predeceased by sisters Betty Deagle, Evelyn Kirwan and Jean Kyrzakos, and by her brothers Tom, John, Mike, Ed, Burt, Ray, and Ken. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 SZTRAMKO, Jennifer Irene (nee Moore) Promoted to the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour at her home on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 in her 57th year. Faithful, devoted and loving wife of Les of Simcoe. Cherished mother of Heather Hannah and her husband Philip, their children Nolan and Jayden; and Richard Sztramko, all of Simcoe. Dearly loved daughter of William Moore (the late Hilda Bicknell). Lovingly remembered by her sister, Dianne Droogh (John) of North Gower; brothers, Ed Moore (Sheila) of Ottawa and Rob Moore (Sharon) of Richmond. Sadly missed by Les' mother Wanda Sztramko and his brother Richard (Maria), all of Ottawa. Jennifer is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jennifer was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 4, 1950, and lived her first five years in Shediac, New Brunswick. Primary and high school years were spent in the Ottawa area Village of Richmond. In 1973, Jennifer graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in English and Family Studies; she continued her education the following year graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Education. She started her teaching career at the Norwich District High School where she taught for 5 years. Her family relocated to Wheatley Ontario from Simcoe where she stayed at home to raise her children for the next 7 years. When the family returned to Simcoe in 1987, Jennifer resumed her teaching career at the Simcoe Composite High School where she taught for the next 16 years attaining additional qualifications in English, Guidance, and Principal. Jennifer loved life. Her family, friends, students, colleagues, music (blues to church worship), nature, travel, and continual learning were all special to her. She served in a host of volunteer activities including; brownies, Sunday School teacher, minor hockey, woman's advocacy, chaperoning dances, directing student newspapers, cancer peer support, and church worship. Most of all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who guided her life and sustained her when she was struck with the cancer she battled for 5 years. She was always willing to share Jesus and her many Bibles with anyone who cared to listen. Friends shared their memories of Jennifer with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe on Thursday, April 5th. Loving great grandmother of Michelle, Owen, Adam, Claire, Andre, Ben, Julia, Luc, David, Nathan and Maja. Vera was the eldest of 11 children. She is survived by sisters Margaret Pope, Marie Penty, Pauline Bosesley, Jeanne Kidd and brothers Mac and Bob Penty. Vera was predeceased by sister Ena Ewald and brothers Alex, Jack and Donald Penty. Vera resided in the hamlet of Rockway since 1926 after arriving from Talbotville to begin teaching in the local one room schoolhouse. She retired from teaching at Jordan Public School in 1967. The family is grateful to Dr. David Habing and the caring staff at Albright Manor and to Marilyn Warner whose compassion and dedication allowed Vera to stay in the family residence into her 100th year. WAITE, Carolyn Fulton (nee Chaplow) - 1918 - 2007. With a deep sense of loss the family of Carolyn (Carrie) Waite announces her sudden passing on Thursday evening, April 19 at Caressant Care Nursing Facility, Bonnie Place, St. Thomas, Ontario. Youngest daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Chaplow, Mrs. Waite was predeceased by her husband Douglas Charles Waite (1992). The last of her family, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen; Elva (Mrs. Mark McCorvie): Gordon, William, Norman and John. She was the adored mother of Paul of St. Catharines, Carol (Gary Roberts) of Burlington and Margaret (Douglas Burgess) of Sarnia. Mrs. Waite was also much loved by her grandchildren Christopher and Jeffrey Roberts and Kendra Burgess and Lauren (Aaron) Kilbreath. Her sister-in-law Elizabeth (John) Chaplow also survives as well as two nieces and four nephews. Mrs. Waite was a devoted sister, wife, parent and grandparent. She was the best friend and constant support to her beloved Douglas during his twelve years of illness. Until she was no longer able to drive, she took great pleasure in chauffeuring her lady friends of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas, to worship each Sunday. She had been a member of the Women's Missionary Society at Knox Church and of the River Road Women's Institute. Mrs. Waite was also a former member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.
