Lillian Agnes Ayer 1914 - 2007 Lillian A. Ayer, of The K. E. Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton, NB, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Born in Moncton on October 7, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Howard and Maude (McFarlane) Fraser. She was a retired office clerk with the T. Eaton Co. Accounts Dept. She was a member of the Eatons Quarter Century Club. Survived by her step son, Donald Ayer and his wife Linda, Moncton; sister-in-law, Sheila Fraser, Moncton; nieces, Joanne Salmon, Carolynne Pollard, Eleanor Kittmer, Brenda Fraser, Debbie Neill; nephew, Phillip Fraser. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, J. Floyd Ayer; brothers, Edward, Rodney, Gordon and Phillip. Private visitation and services have been held from Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home. Gesner Eagles 1919-2007 Gesner Taylor Eagles of Riverview and formerly Salisbury passed away Thursday February 1, 2007 at the Moncton Hospital. Born at Eagles Settlement he was a son of the late Edgar and Ella (Taylor) Eagles. In his early working life Gesner was a self employed farmer and later worked for the Federal Department of Agriculture. He was a member of the Salisbury Baptist Church and enjoyed singing with the Moncton Male Chorus. Survived by his son Robert and his wife Wanda of Riverview; sisters, Audrey Loftus of Moncton, Ruth Steeves of Charlottetown; brothers Basil of Moncton, Gordon (Hazel) of Wheaton Settlement, Nelson (Beulah) of Kelowna, Ernest (Gerry) of Sussex; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Eileen (Dec 2006); a daughter Gayle Ford; a sister Frances Eagles; a brother Lawrence. FOREMAN, ETHEL "PEARLE" The passing of Ethel "Pearle" Foreman, wife of the late David Ray Foreman, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on February 1, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 1, 1917 in Fredericksburg, NB, near Stanley, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret Mae (Harvey) McLaughlin. Pearle was a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, the 55 + Seniors Club and remained active in the community until her recent illness. She was passionate about dancing and singing in the church choir and had many other interests. Pearle is survived by one daughter, Dianne (Fred) Aitchison of Orangeville, ON; one son, Wayne (Sharon) Foreman of Jemseg, NB; grandchildren, Dr. Terry Foreman (Karen) of Moncton, Jeffrey Foreman (Jen) of Edmonton, AB, Andrea Thompson (Bradley) of Halifax, NS, Rev. Don McLean Aitchison of Port Hope, ON, Shawn Aitchison (Tara) of Orangeville, ON, Jonathan Aitchison (Ruby) of Montreal, PQ, Tanis Noll (Tony) of Orangeville, ON and Peter Aitchison (Marissa) of Calgary, AB; 12 great grandchildren, Rebecca, Brittany, Meghan and Kate of Moncton, Connor and Ryan of Edmonton, AB, Benjamine of Halifax, Nathaniel, Alicia, Alexandra and Braydon of Orangeville, Margot of Montreal; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Born in Saint John, NB she was a daughter of the late Ross A. and Pearl B. (Henry) Wood. Mary was a lifelong resident of Saint John and was a member of St. Joachim's Church. She was a very loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. SPENCE, WILLIAM IRVINE (BILL) - 88, of Bible Hill and formerly of Truro, Nova Scotia passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007, in Meadowland Villa, Bible Hill. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth (Higgins) Spence. Bill worked as a forest engineer in the Department of Natural Resources in New Brunswick. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 11 F.A.M., Woodstock, NB. He is survived by daughters, Heather Laschinger of London, ON, Barbara Hall of Fruitvale, BC; son Ian (Martha) of Thunder Bay, ON; grandchildren, Jamie, Stephanie, Andrew, Byran, Colin; sister of Elizabeth (Betty) Grant of Mahone Bay, NS, and special friend of Thia Manning of Truro. He was predeceased by his first wife Kathleen; his second wife Hazel. Cremation has taken place. Born in Caribou, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Ivery and Priscilla Harman. WILSON, TANYA MARIE Tanya M. (Grant) Wilson of Woodstock passed away January 31, 2007 as a result of a car accident near St. George, NB. She was born at Woodstock, NB in 1975, a daughter of Kimberly (Drost) Brooks and Curtis Grant. Tanya loved attending basketball games and other sporting events with her children, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family. Tanya is survived by her husband Tim Wilson; two daughters, Samantha and Kendra Wilson, both of Woodstock; a son, Baily Wilson, Woodstock; her mother, Kimberly Brooks (Danny), Hartfield; her father, Curtis Grant, Southampton; two brothers, Clinton Grant (Stephanie) Southampton and Nathan Grant (Nicole), Temperance Vale; maternal grandparents, George and Phylena Drost, Vancouver, BC; nieces and nephews, Logan, Denika, Ashton, Dylan and Emma; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Gabrielle Duff EDMUNDSTON, NB - Mrs. Gabrielle Duff of Edmundston, NB, died on January 31st, 2007 at the Edmundston Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness at the age of 92. She was the wife of the late JC (Mick) Duff who died in 1976. She was well known for her love and dedication to her family. She was a member of Les Filles d'Isabelle, Canadian Cancer Society (for over 40 years), CN Pensioners Association, Golden Age Club the Villa Desjardins of Edmundston. She is survived by two sons, Robert Duff (Linda) and George Duff (Diane), both of Moncton; and two daughters, Jean Marie Duff-Michaud (Jules) of Edmundston, and Joan Carol Duff Ward (Robert) of Calgary; also six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by four sisters. Sharon Labenne 1950-2007 Sharon passed away into the presence of the Lord she loved on February 2, 2007. She was born in Windsor, Ontario but moved to the Moncton area in 1973. Sharon was employed as an LPN at The Moncton Hospital where she will be fondly remembered for her cheerfulness and great sense of humor. Everyone who knew Sharon was blessed by her ready laugh and positive outlook on life. Sharon will be sadly missed by her husband, Andrew; her son, Adrian; her father and mother, John and Lillian Craig; her sister, Grace Morton (Craig) and husband, Allison; as well as several nephews and nieces. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Pam Mansfield who showed such compassion to Sharon during her last days. He came to Canada in 1952 following the Second World War and settled in Sudbury, working for C.I.L. and later INCO. Giuseppe married Adelina on February 14, 1954 in a ceremony by proxy from Italy. When she arrived in Canada shortly thereafter, the two began their life together and were inseparable. Giuseppe was an industrious and hard-working man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and valued his family above all else. With the constant loving support of his beloved wife, he continued the customs and traditions of his native country including gardening, wine making and cooking. Giuseppe was a very social person who valued the company of his friends and family; he found special joy and pride in his children and grandchildren. His devotion to his family will be sadly missed but never forgotten - “sempre amato e mai dimenticato“. Beatrice I. Lutes 1922-2007 MOLUS RIVER, NB - Beatrice (Biddy) Isabel (Dargavel) Lutes 1922-2007, passed away at home in Molus River with her son Donald and her daughter Linda, at her side. Biddy passed away February 2, 2007 after a courageous and long struggle against cancer. Born in Molus River, she was the daughter of the late Agnes (Gaylor) Dargavel and Lyle Dargavel, in addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Lutes; her son, Harold H. Lutes; and sisters, Freda (Infant), Dorothy, Patricia, Winnifred (Winnie), Blanch; and brothers, James and Lyle (Infant), Thomas (Infant), Lee, James (Jim) Garfield. In addition to her daughter and son, she is survived by sisters, Eugene Dargavel, Eileen (Charles) Murphy; and brothers, Donald Dargavel, George (Elsie) Dargavel; sister-in-law; Joan Dargaval; grandsons, Dennie (Carole) Lutes (in Ottawa), Darren (Valerie) Lutes; and great grandson Byron Lutes (in Moncton), Born and raised in Molus River, Biddy married and moved to Moncton as a young woman. She and Don raised three children on William Street and Marlboro Court in Lewisville, where they shared many happy years surrounded by friends and family. Biddy enjoyed sharing her home, her time and her ever generous love, with all those in her life. Active in her church work she committed time to Ladies Aid, St Johns United Church (Moncton) and St. Stephens' Church (Molus River) where she also served for years on committees and as a church elder. Upon retiring, Biddie and Don spent nearly 20 years living in Montserrat, West Indies (where she continued to expand her loving circle of friends) while summering in Cassie Cape. They moved to Bouctouche and finally Biddy returned to Molus River which was always near and dear to her heart. Biddy was an exceptionally kind, warm and loving person who warmed hearts and made everyone know that they were loved. She was known for her hugs and kisses which came straight from her heart. She was a mother figure for all in the family who needed her, including the dozens of nieces and nephews who never failed to stop by for a visit when in Molus River. She maintained contact with her numerous friends, her pen pals and her Christmas card list with well over 250 names that received her Yuletides blessings every year. She will leave a deep void in the Dargavel and Lutes families and fond memories to her many dear friends and acquaintances. To know her you could not help but to love her. OBITUARY AL BACULIS SR. Passed away peacefully on January 22, 2007 in Seminole, Florida, age seventy-six. Beloved husband of Margo. He will be dearly missed by his son, Alan in Montreal, his daughter, Heather (Andrew Todd) his grand-daughter, Neela Todd in Vancouver, his sister, Isabelle Bacal in Montreal and his sister-in-law, Kathy Collier in Toronto. Al attended McGill Conservatory of Music, studying clarinet and composition. He was a jazz virtuoso on the clarinet, tenor and also saxophones, later becoming well known as an arranger and composer for both radio and TV for, Radio Canada, The CBC and The National Film Board. He traveled to the Middle East and Europe to entertain the U.N. troops. Al wrote and arranged the orchestral theme for the closing ceremonies of the '76 Olympics. He later taught arranging and composition in the music departments of Vanier CEGEP and McGill where he was loved and respected by his students. Al and Margo retired to Florida in 1993. He was a life member of Musician's Guild, and a Shriner. Al was a loyal and generous friend who shared his great sense of humour with everyone. BRECHER, Dr. Irving February 1, 1923 - February 2, 2007 Irving passed away peacefully, on February 2, 2007, at the Montreal Chest Institute after a full and productive life of 84 years. Irving was a distinguished Professor (Emeritus) of Economics, and a visionary and catalyst for global human rights, democracy, peace and justice. Among his many achievements, he founded the McGill Centre for Developing-Area Studies in 1963. He was also the first joint director of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics. As well, he was one of the founders of the International Centre for Development and Democracy (now known as Rights and Democracy) in Canada. He authored many seminal papers, books and newspaper articles that have made significant contributions to both academia and world affairs. Irving will be loved forever by his wife of 62 years, Toba (nee Herman); their four children, Rick (and Cynthia), Tom (and Paulina), Ron (and Gail), and Terrie (and Dave); their eight grandchildren Emily, Lauren, Daniel, Jason, Todd, Chelsea, Kellie, and Ryan; his brothers Joe (and Kate) and Mike (and late Eva), his sisters-in-law Minnie and Florence, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. OBITUARY GLENN ELLIS Glenn Ellis passed away on February 1, 2007 at the Montreal Chest Hospital, with family at his side, after a long battle with lung disease. Glenn was born April 15, 1919 in Welland, Ontario and spent his early years in Hamilton. During World War II, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as Flight Lieutenant in the Radar Section Ground stationed in Great Britain, Belgium and Germany. There he met Eleanor Jones who became his wife after they both returned from Europe, in 1946. In 1951, they moved to the Town of Mount Royal when Glenn joined the Advertising Department of the House of Seagram. In 1961, with his family, he moved to Glens Falls, New York, as Advertising Manager of the Glens Falls Insurance Company. They returned to Montreal in 1966. In 1968, Glenn established Sesame Industries Limited in St. Andre est, Quebec, a company which manufactured a unique heat sensitive tape for the packaging industry. Its success in Canada led to exporting its tapes overseas as well as opening a second manufacturing facility in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Glenn was President and CEO of Sesame Industries until the sale of the company to the H.B. Fuller Company in 1985. The business remained in St. Andre est under the name of Adilis until December 2003 when the factory was closed. Since 2004 Glenn had made his home at the Chateau Westmount where he found companionship and friends among the staff and residents. Here he returned to painting, a long-time interest, and held three vernissages of his pastel drawings and loved hosting many dear friends. He took up playing bridge Thursday afternoons and weekly art lessons. He taught us that you are never too old to try something new. During his long battle with COPD and emphysema, Glenn never lost his good humour, his optimism and positive attitude. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-eight years, Eleanor, who died in 2004. He is greatly missed by his daughters, Jacqueline of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Antoinette (Toni) of Elora, Ontario, his five grandchildren, Lynn, Brian, Amie Vaccaro, and Josh and Ben Taylor. was a loving brother to Madelyn Farrand (Ron) of Surrey, B.C., Wilma Beaton (Harry) of Calgary and Keith (Margery) of Grimsby, Ontario. While there were many people who helped Glenn later in life, his family owes a special thanks to his long-time assistant and friend Suzanne Karch, who provided devoted care and good cheer. Those who knew him bid him farewell and "HAPPY DAYS"... The world has lost a gentleman and scholar. CROSSIN, Constance. Passed away peacefully in Montreal at the age of one-hundred and three. Wife of the late Harold Crossin and mother to Gail and Marion.
