OVANS, Kevin J. - At his home in Yardley, Pennsylvania on January 2, 2007 at the age of 51. Son of the late Ross Ovans. He leaves to mourn his cherished wife Judy (Shurmann), his mother Barbara (Harold Hope), sisters Cindy, Robin (Terry Courchesne) and brother David. Treasured uncle of Jeff, Ben, Elizabeth & Kaitlyn Courchesne, and Melissa & Dennison Hambridge. Funeral service was held in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be held in Ormstown. TREMBLAY, Florida Passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the age of 93. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 65 years, Raoul Tremblay. Cherished mother of the late Claude (Veronica), Marie (late Raymond), Denis (Colleen) and Philippe (Marian). Beloved sister of Marie-Ange (late Clement Desloges). Predeceased by her parents Joseph Tremblay and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Belisle; her brothers Josepha, Wilfrid, Willie, Henri, and Philippe; her sisters Yvonne, Claudia, Emilia, Aurore, Lucienne, and Marie-Reine. She leaves her grandchildren Patrick, Rochelle, Chris, Aaron, James, Amy, Bradley, and several great-grandchildren. We will all miss her gentle spirit. HURLEY,HANORA KATHLEEN "KATE" NEÉ MURPHY, LLM The death of Hanora Kathleen "Kate" (Murphy) Hurley of Fredericton, NB occurred peacefully on December 30th 2006 at Pine grove Nursing Home, Woodstock Road, Fredericton, NB, following a long illness precipitated by a stroke. Born on February 9th, 1925 in Gainford, Co Durham, England, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Patrick and Nancy (Taylor) Murphy of County Cork, Ireland, and wife of Dr. Daniel Hurley of Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton. Kate served in the British army (ATS) at the end of the second World War, received her LLB and LLM from London University and practiced law in London as a solicitor for several years. In 1960 she married another lawyer, Dan Hurley, immigrated to Canada and settled in Fredericton where she worked with social services and was active in community organizations, the university community and the Liberal party. A brilliant and original thinker, she read widely and expressed her sometimes unorthodox opinions with eloquent wit. She adored beauty in any form and spent hours in her garden, tending her spectacular peonies and irises and identifying bird species. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Daniel Hurley (Veterans' Health Unit, Fredericton); son, Daniel and daughter-in-law, Annika of Whitehorse; daughter, Clarissa of Toronto; sister, Antoinette (Toni) Neville; and brother, Mick Murphy of Gainford, England; brother, Dr. Patrick Murphy (Peggy) of Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, first baby daughter and her brother, William J.G. Murphy of Andover, England. Kate's family extends sincere thanks to the staff, nurses and caregivers at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007 from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday, January 4th, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm. ANDREWS, Dana Ron - In loving memory of Dana Ron Andrews, 30 years. It is with extreme sorrow we announce the passing of our precious son at his residence in Waterloo, December 25th, 2006. Dana grew up in Lively and he attended Lively District Secondary School. He went on to obtain his B.A. at Sir Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo. He played hockey throughout his childhood as a goalie on various NOHA teams. Dana brought sunshine & love to all who knew him. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing but he was happiest when composing, and performing music with his singing and playing guitar. Dana was an adjudicator at the WSIB in Kitchener for the past several years. Beloved son of William “Bill“ and Donna (Sandberg) Andrews of Lively. Much loved brother to Bill (wife Brenda) of Edmonton, Albt. Cherished grandson of Minnie Andrews of Lively (husband Orest predeceased). Bill and Reta Sandberg predeceased. NEVES, NORMA M.- The death of Norma M. (Bosco) Neves of Clifton Royal, Kings Co., NB, wife of the late George Neves, occurred on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at her residence. Born in Saint John on June 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Cook) Bosco. Norma enjoyed playing cards, crib and yahtzee. She is survived by three brothers; Roy Bosco (Margaret) of Titusville, James Bosco (Jackie) of Saint John and Raymond Bosco (June) of Calgary, AB; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Lois, Evelyn and Patsy. By request there will be no visiting. BELYEA, JOYCE ARDATH Passed away at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital on December 23, 2006. Born in Fredericton, November 2, 1926, she was the daughter of John Allen Belyea and Bessie Alberta Harrison. From 1945 to 1951 she worked as a secretary for the Highway Division of the New Brunswick Department of Public Works; then from 1951 to 1986 she was Secretary to the Comptroller at the University of New Brunswick. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Wees (Ian) of Ottawa; a nephew, Eric M. Wees (Yvonne), also of Ottawa; and many friends. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit of the DEC Hospital. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Rev. Paul Ross officiating. DEVEAU, WILLIAM (BILL) EDWARD - Unexpectedly at Utopia, NB on December 29, 2006, Mr. William (Bill) Edward Deveau formerly of Pennfield, NB. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB on July 6th, 1967, he was the son of Norman and Marie (MacVicar) Deveau of Blacks Harbour. Bill was a proud father of daughters; Jessica Deveau of Blacks Harbour, Katlyn Deveau; and son, Jeremy Deveau of Beaver Harbour, NB. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Denise Boyle (Larry Johnston) of St. Andrews, NB and Norma (Richard) Stieh of Beaver Harbour; maternal grandmother, Dean Girard of Pennfield; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bill loved carpentry work, and was a good friend to many and will be missed but forever remembered for his helpful hand, and his contagious smile and laugh. Allister M. MacLeod Allister M. MacLeod, 80, of Riverview, with members of his family at his side, passed away at The Moncton Hospital, on Sunday, December 31, 2006. Born in Marion Bridge, NS, he was the son of the late Donald and Jessie (MacPherson) MacLeod. Allister was a retired labour representative, with the Canadian Labour Congress (Regional Director 1970-1987). He was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Riverview, member of the C.B.R.T and G.W. Local 230 (1948-1970) in Sydney, NS and Life Member of Queen Lodge #52 IOOF, Sydney, NS. Following his retirement, Allister spent his spare time enjoying woodworking, story telling and spending quality time with his friends and especially his family. HOYT, SCOVIL S. The passing of Scovil S. Hoyt of Hoyt, NB, occurred Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was 80. Born April 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Bayard and Jennie Hoyt. Scovil was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna on September 12, 2001. Scovil is survived by his three sons; Donald (wife Bonnie, children, Mark (Halifax), Jodi and Erin of Kanata, ON), Vern (children, Tyler, Adam and Amanda of Regina, SK and Tracey of Nova Scotia) and Brent (wife Betty) of Saint John NB, and his brother Jim (Joan) Hoyt and sister Genia (John) Boudreau of Hoyt, NB and predeceased by his brother, Elliot Hoyt in 2005. Scovil worked in several fields including as a provincial health inspector and county treasurer, and spent the last 26 years of his career in Municipal and Provincial elections and retired as the Chief Electoral Officer for New Brunswick in 1991. Scovil was invited by the United Nations as a Canadian representative for the first democratic elections in both Namibia and Cambodia. Scovil served on several boards including the White Rapids Manor, Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and the Queens Sunbury West Ambulance Board. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa belle-fille, Colette (Marcel Dionne); sa bru, Marguerite Pelletier (feu Guy Gauvreau) de Sherbrooke, Qc; son gendre, Raoul Cyr (feu Huguette Gauvreau) d’Edmundston, N.-B.; sa soeur, Jeannine Landry-Thérrien de Les Escoumins, Qc, son frère, Jean-Guy Landry de Saint-Hyacinthe, Qc, ainsi que plusieurs petits-enfants, nièces, neveux et amis. Il était fils de feu Nazaire Lanteigne et de feu Emélie Chenard. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil une fille, Marie-Josée (Eric Chiasson) de Caraquet; deux petits-enfants: Zachary et Naomie qu’il chérissait énormément; une soeur, Cécile (feu Paul Néfossé) de Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Qc; une belle-soeur, Doris Lanteigne (feu Alcide) de Montréal, Qc; un beau-frère, Jean Brideau (feu Armelle) de Bathurst; une tante, Germaine (feu Auguste Chenard) de Saint-Hubert, QC; sa marraine, Edith Thériault de Caraquet, ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines. Quatre soeurs: Edmonde, Emélia et Alfreda, toutes en bas âge et Armelle, ainsi qu’un frère, Alcide, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 14h, le mardi 2 janvier, à la Maison funéraire Racicot de Caraquet. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens de Caraquet, le mercredi 3 janvier, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, au printemps. Heures de visites: le mardi 2 janvier, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le mercredi 3 janvier, de 14h jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. Also survived by his brother-in-law Gordon Green of Toronto, sisters-in-law Sandra Pigeon (Donald) of Tweed, and Nancy Ballantyne of Sudbury, and numerous nieces and nephews. Harry will be fondly remembered by his many friends and co-workers in Cornwall. The family wishes to thank the staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the Elizabeth Bruyere Centre for their kind and compassionate care. At Harry's request there will be no visitation. Cremation. OSBALDESTON, Geraldine 'Gerry' (nee Keller) Passed away peacefully in her 76th year, at home Saturday, December 30th 2006 after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Wife and constant companion of 52 years to Gordon. Loving mother to Stephen (Atlanta, GA), David (Ottawa, ON), Cathy French (Oakville, ON) and Rob (London, ON), mother-in-law to Carol, Elaine and Doug and grandmother to Morgan, Matthew, Ryan, Jessica, Michael and Jason. Loving daughter of the late Eugene Keller and Gertrude Zettel of Kitchener, ON. Sister of Anne Stecho, Norma McClenaghan, Ralph and Rainer (Ray). Pre-deceased by Clayton and Clare (Sonny) of Kitchener/Waterloo. Proud nurse and career diplomat's partner, Gerry made houses into homes in Sao Paulo, Chicago, Los Angeles, Ottawa and London (ON) where all were welcomed and none were forgotten. Chauffer of miniature ballerinas and aspiring athletes, "Mrs. O's" young family and their friends grew all too quickly into and out of her well-known 9-passenger station wagons. Hostess of national and international businesspersons, politicians and public servants alike, she travelled the world and never forgot a friendship forged, regardless of how long it took for the road to lead back. Passionate about golf, musical theatre and her church - but first, always and forever - a wife, companion, mother and "Nana" who expected and, we hope, got the best from each of us. Heartfelt thanks to the medical team of doctors, nurses and associated staff who gave tirelessly of their time and compassion.
