LINKERT, Richard - In loving memory of Richard Linkert, 84 years of Sudbury who passed away Sunday December 31st, 2006 at Laurentian was born in Germany and married Ruth (Henschel) in 1959 in Germany. Richard came to Sudbury in 1951 from Germany, He had been a miner at Creighton Mine having 32 years at INCO retiring in 1984. He enjoyed attending the monthly meetings of German Sr. Citizen Group at St. Peter's Church. He had a great affinity for animals and wildlife. He generously fed the birds and spent many happy hours in his backyard Gazebo feeding the chipmunks. Richard will be remembered as a devoted and loving father. Beloved husband of Ruth (Henschel) Linkert predeceased 1995. Loving father of Adrienne Lafantaisie (husband Steven) of Sudbury and the late Ricky predeceased. Dear son of Franz and Mathilde Linkert predeceased. Dear brother of Hilde of Germany and the late Lena, Georg, Apolonia, Franz, Marta, Stephan, and Marie all predeceased. COUCHIE , Patricia 'Pat' (Ortiz - Russell)- 1927 - 2006. It is with profound sadness, that the family of Pat Couchie announces her passing on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Cassellholme in her 80th year. Family members surrounded her at the time of her passing. Pat was the wife of the late Frederick Couchie. She is survived by her children Chief Dan (Eva) of Pic River First Nation, Chief Marianna (Mary Upper), Terry John-George, Cindy (Andrew Goulais) and Chris all of Nipissing First Nation, also by sisters Eleanor Baldwin (Bill) and Barbara Andruss, and niece Nancy Ryan- Doggett (John). Kathleen was a thoughtful and sympathetic friend and neighbour. A devout Anglican, she was a hard and cheerful worker for the Quilters, Altar Guild, and ACW at Christ Church. CRAWFORD, EVELYN "EVIE" Crawford, Evelyn "Evie" - Oromocto, NB passed away peacefully on December 31, 2006 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. She was born in Bear Island, NB and moved to Oromocto in 1958. She is the daughter of the late Tom & Laura Hanson. Evie was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a long-time member of the Conservative Party, President of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion and had a successful career with Canada Life Insurance Co., Area Manager for Avon and retired from the NB Liquor Corporation. She loved music and in her youth played the guitar, piano and sang with her country band. Evie was a caring mother to her sons, Monty (Myrna) Kelly, Garth Crawford of Fredericton and Robert (Carolyn) Thompson of Melville; daughters, Myrna Thompson of Toronto, Sandra Crawford of Dartmouth and grand and great grand children as well as several nieces, nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Queenie Ellegood, Myrtle Stilwell, Cecile Hanson and daughter, Gloria Evelyn Thompson. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Oromocto Public Hospital, ComCare and her special friends for their kindness, wonderful care and compassion during this time. MITCHELL, Selina Doreen March 29, 1917 to December 29, 2006 Died peacefully at the Perth Hospital with family and friends by her side. Born and raised in Hamilton to Walter and Florence Barnes, she married a big band drummer, Earl Grant (Bus) Mitchell in Ottawa on January 1st, 1937. She travelled with him in their trailer, for over 10 years, and then, with him established and managed Holiday Haven, on the shores of Lake Chemong in Bridgenorth, outside of Peterborough. After closing Holiday Haven, she worked for 16 years in the Central Supply Department of the Peterborough Memorial Hospital, until her retirement. Moving to Perth in 1981, she often assisted her daughter, Wendy in the running of her business, Shadowfax, and also took great joy in her only grandson, Nigel Wallace. Her sense of humour and indomitable spirit will be fondly remembered by her daughter Wendy Laut and her spouse Don Hanam, her grandson Nigel, his father David, nephews, Ted and Davie Adlem, and their families, niece, and nephew Jim and Sharon Barnes, as well as the many good friends, young and old she made over the years, especially her dearest friend, Eileen Findlay from Peterborough. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bus, her sister Mabel, and her brother-in-law David Adlem, as well as her brother Doug. Many thanks to the doctors at the Perth Hospital, especially Dr. Paul Turner, her long time physician as well as the earth-bound angels, the nursing and support staff at the hospital who provided such compassionate and exemplary care. Brian Downey's Big Band will play a dance in her honour, 8:30 p.m. Friday January 5th at the Perth Legion. Donations to either the Perth site of the Perth & Smiths Falls and District Hospital, or Friends of Stewart Park Festival would be gratefully received in her memory. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Esther (Blanche Kane) Heffernan. PURDY, JOHN WINSTON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. John Winston Purdy. John died peacefully on Thursday, December 28th, 2006, at his daughter Anna's home in Calgary, surrounded by those who loved him dearly. He will be remembered with joy for his magnificent mind, his love of beauty and his passion for life. John, a West Side boy, was raised and completed high school in St. John N.B. He studied physics at the University of New Brunswick, where he received a Bachelor of Science with honours. He went on to the University of Toronto, where he obtained both a Masters degree and a PhD in geophysics. It was in Toronto that he met his great love, Carolyn. Together they embarked on a life of adventure. John and Carolyn began their life together in Berne, Switzerland where they had their two daughters, Sarah and Anna. They moved on to England where John was a professor of geophysics at the University of Liverpool. John found his true calling upon returning to Canada to study medicine at Dalhousie University. Known as "the refugee" from the geriatrics ward, he was greatly admired and respected by all of his colleagues. He had a thriving family practice in Fredericton, N.B. He subsequently specialized in ophthalmology in Fredericton for 20 years, developing a practice of devoted patients for whom he cared greatly. His patients were grateful for his competent gentle manner. John served his community as a member of the York-Sunbury-Queens Medical Society, the New Brunswick Medical Association, and numerous government committees. John had many passions through his life. He used his beautiful, inquisitive mind to explore the mysteries of nature, the joy of music, and the wonders of science. John was predeceased by his parents, George and Ethel Purdy; his brother, Judson Purdy; and his daughter ,Sarah. He leaves his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Anna; son-in- law, Peter; grandchildren, John Winston and Keziah; and nephew, Sean. They will always miss him, love him and honour his memory as a man who loved deeply, selflessly and wholly. There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2007 at Christ Church Cathedral, Fredericton, at 2:00 pm with The Very Rev. Keith Joyce officiating. Né le 30 mai 1927 à Moncton, il était le fils de feu Edmond Cormier et de feu Marie Eva Bourque. Carmeline Robichaud 1943 - 2007 Carmeline Robichaud passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Monday January 1, 2007. Born in Baie Ste Anne on December 7, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Maxime and Elise Martin. She is survived by her husband, Aldege and three daughters; Gail Doucette (Eugere), Mona Gray (Neri) and Sylvie Mazerolle (Pascal) all from Pointe-Sapin; five sisters, Della Robichaud (Maurice), Pointe-Sapin, Henriette Robichaud (Jacques) and Geraldine Robichaud (Leonard) both of St. Wilfred, Marie Therese Martin, Cecilia Martin (Yvon) both of Baie Ste. Anne, one half sister, Marceline Stevenson from Toronto; seven brothers, Ade Martin (Aline), Neguac, Yvon Martin, Moise Martin (Veronique), Luc Martin (Gratanne), Gilles Martin (Roseline) all of Baie Ste. Anne, Michel Martin (Eva) Miramichi, Willy Martin (Alice) of Baie Ste Anne; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter, Rosaline; one half sister, Ida; two sisters, Jeanne and Rita; and two brothers, Victor and Maxime. Although we are saddened by the death of our mother and will miss her dearly, we are grateful for her release from the escalating pain and disease that had come to dominate her daily life. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest until illness came on her. Carm was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and she will be truly missed by her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook and you could always count on her for anything. She was always willing to lend a hand even in her last days at the hospital. She had an extraordinary sense of humor, she would still make us laugh. Mom has and will continue to be an inspiration to all of us. Many of us remain behind and will need to be strong to carry on her memory as we live our lives without her. She always said live life to the fullest and always be positive, take it one day at a time. That gave her 12 extra years of life from the day she as diagnosed to the end of her illness. FANJOY, CONNIE CHARLENE 1970 - 2006 - Connie C. Fanjoy, of Moncton, NB and formerly of Sussex, NB passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Monday December 31, 2006 at the age of 37 years. Born in Saint John, NB on September 12, 1970 she was the daughter of Raymond and Nina (Dalling) Fanjoy of Chamber Settlement, NB. Besides her parents she was survived by her common-law husband, John Clark with whom she resided. Maternal grandmother, Genevieve Dalling of Sussex; brother, Chris and his wife Loralie of Sussex; sister, Michelle Fanjoy-Schritter of Hanna, AB; two nieces, Hailey and Paige; also by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
