McQUARRIE, James Graham (Jim) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jim on Saturday, November 4, 2006, in his 64th year. Devoted husband of Anne, cherished and proud father of Carolyn and her husband Paul Vaughan. Loving son-in-law of Isa Chalmers. Jim was predeceased by his mother Louisa and father Malcolm. He will be lovingly remembered by his family Angus, Archie, Alistair, Billy (Doris), Ethel (John), of Greenock, Scotland; Louise (Mike), New Zealand; Freddie (Maureen), South Africa; Isobel, Austrailia and other family members and friends in Canada and overseas. Jim was a loyal employee of Port Weller Dry Docks for nearly 40 years, a proud member of Local 680, Int'l Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Shipbuilders, and a member of the St. Catharines Rangers Golf League. LONDON, HAZEL L. - The death of Hazel Leona London of Saint John, wife of the late Walter R. Born in Little Lepreau, NB, she was the daughter of the late Everett Clifton and Erma Ann (Tinker) Lomax. Hazel worked with children at the Protestant Orphanage for several years before going to work as a caretaker of Turnbull Nursing Home for 19 years before her retirement. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing TV Bingo, having tea with friends and spending time with her cat "Homer". She will be sadly missed. She is survived by four sons, Robin M. GALLAGHER, RANDAL JOSEPH - Randal Joseph Gallagher died suddenly on Saturday November 4, 2006. He was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Randal had an unlimited amount of compassion and forgave everyone who ever hurt his feelings or did him wrong. The love he gave was real and from a heart that knew no limits. He will surely be missed. He was a grade 11 student at Simonds High School. BEATTIE, JAMES "JIM" WALLACE ANDERSON – The death of Jim Beattie, husband of Marion (Robb) Beattie, of University Avenue, Saint John, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, November 6, 2006. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on November 15, 1923 to the late James R. and Mary (McKechnie) Beattie. Jim graduated from Glasgow Institute of Technology (Strathclyde University) with a degree in Structural Engineering. He immigrated to Canada in 1948. He was first employed at Saint John Dry Dock as a Structural Engineer, then Ocean Steel as a Project Engineer, then he took a position at Saint John Institute of Technology (Community College) as a Civil Technology Instructor where he was employed for 24 years until his retirement. A member of the St. Andrews Society, he recited Ode to the Haggis, every year at the annual dinner. For this he was presented a special medal. Jim was one of the three founding members of the Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists and served as first registrar. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen. Jim was also a board member of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home and Probus Club and a past member the Westfield Golf and Country Club, Carleton Curling Club and past board member and director of St. Andrew's House. In the last ten years, he also volunteered for Church Outreach, the latest outreach was a breakfast program at Prince Charles School. In his younger years he was runner up at the Westfield Golf and Country Club, Club Championship, later while at Carleton Curling Club, he was runner up in the City and District Championship. Jim loved his family and took great pride in all their undertakings and achievements. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion, one son Angus (Karen) Beattie of Rothesay, NB and one daughter Dr. Kate (David) McLellan of Saint John, NB; three grandchildren, Duncan, Colin and Iain Beattie and several nieces and nephews. Kaye Olsen 1924 – 2006 The death of Kaye Mundle Olsen, of Vail Street, Moncton, occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, November 6th, 2006. Born in Upper Rexton, Kent Co. NB, she was the daughter of the late Horatio and Katie (Dixon) Mundle. Kaye will be sadly missed by her daughter, Ellen Allain (Greg); grandson, Mark Belliveau of Moncton; brothers, Daryl (Marion) of Rexton and Harry (Joan) of Riverview; her nephew David (Angela) of Sackville who were so very good to her and she loved them so very much; also Shayna, Jake and Brett who were so dear to Kaye. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, her loving husband Herb, an infant brother Allan and a sister Gwendolyn. Kaye worked at the "5 to $1.00 Store" in Richibucto for five years, then on to Morgan's Maritime Rums in Richibucto. Kaye and Herb then moved to Moncton and she worked at Sears Ltd. for 10 years and then on to volunteering at The Moncton Hospital for six years, retiring at 77. Kaye was also a member of the Air Force Vets. By personal request there will not be a formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Rexton United Church Cemetery. HENDERSON, Evelyn Grace (Johnson). Formerly of Montreal and Glen Robertson, Ontario, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle of six years with cancer, at the Georgetown Extended Care Facility on Friday November 3, 2006. She was the beloved wife of fifty years of William Cameron Henderson. Loving mother of Ross MacEwan Henderson (Svetlana), and Brock Ryan Henderson (Ramona). Proud grandmother of Katerina and Nicole, and Stephanie, Sarah and Lauren. Evelyn will be sadly missed by her family, James Johnson (Valerie), Doris Comeau (Bob) as well as Bill's brother Arthur Henderson (Terry) and sister-in-law Cynthia Henderson, and will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. She will be reunited in heaven with her parents Simeon Johnson and Ella (MacEwan), her cherished brothers Harold MacEwan Johnson and Whitney Johnson, as well as her dear friend and brother-in-law Donald Henderson. ADEY, Isobel Marion Founder of the International Club of Ottawa Passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2006. Mrs. Isobel Adey, daughter of the late Godfrey Benning (Ben) Peterkin and Mary H. (Birdie) Peterkin (nee Farquharson); step-daughter of the late Arthur Pridmore, sister of the late H. Jean Peterkin, wife of the late Keith P. Moffat, L.L.B. and the late Albert (Al) W. Adey, Ph.D, P.Eng. Founding member of Kingsway United Church. Member of McLeod-Stewarton United Church. Worked as a British Security Coordinator during WWII, stationed in Washington, headed by Sir William Stephenson. Also served with the British Army Staff and worked in the Personnel Department of the Defense Research Board. Listed in "Who's Who in Canada". Recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal from Queen Elizabeth II in May 2003 for founding the International Club of Ottawa (1970) and her work with the International community. Patron of the Ottawa Little Theatre and a Life Member of Beta Sigma Phi. CAVEY, Isabel Violet Passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2006, Isabel Violet Cavey (nee Young), in Port Moodie, B.C. surrounded by her loving family one week into her 85th year. Isabel was born in New Glasgow, N.S. She was the oldest child of the late Archibald Aiken Young and the late Violet Theodosia Young (Lunan). Isabel attended primary school in Toronto, graduated from Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa, then from the University of Toronto as a physiotherapist. She moved to Alberta and married Ross Donaldson Cavey. After raising their four children in Alberta, Isabel and Ross retired to Victoria, B.C. Predeceased by Ross, Isabel is survived by her sister Agnes "Freddy" Whillans (Howard) of Richmond Hill; her children George (Annette), Cathy, Elaine (Ken) and Janet (Paul); and her grandchildren Douglas, Lisa, Nick, David and Laura.
