WATTS, Lyle R.C.A.S.C., Veteran W.W. II Entered into rest peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on Friday, October 14, 2005, as the result of an injury at home. Lyle Watts of Mallorytown, Ontario, husband of the late Lorraine Watts ("Billie" Purtel l) in his 89th year. Born in Kingston, the son of the late Stephen Watts and Laurenza Boyer. Predeceased by his brothers Albert, Bill and Russell and sisters Ethel, Minnie and Florrie. He will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Kay Watts, Ki ngston, Ontario, Mrs. Anne Purtell, Carleton Place, Ontario and his brother-in-law, Bob Purtell and his wife Mary Lou of Oshawa, Ontario. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his many good friends in the Brockville and Mallorytow n area, as well as his special friend "Tom" the cat. As per Lyle's request, there will be a graveside service on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in Kingston at the Cataraqui Cemetery on Sydenham Road, just south of the Old Christ Church, fol lowed by light refreshments at a local establishment. VARJASSY-REGIMBAL, Ilona Born Ilona Toth on June 4, 1929 in Nagy Gencs, Hungary. Passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 14, 2005 with her beloved Pepper by her side. Daughter of the late Janos Toth and Ilona Iker. After graduating from the University of Budapest, Ilona arrived in Moncton, N.B. in 1957, where she quickly learned English to continue her love of being a journalist. She was proud to be the first camera woman in Canada hired by CKCW TV in Moncton. She later moved to CJOH and eventually joined the Public Service, working for the Centenary Commission and later as assistant to the Minister of Multiculturalism and several other departments. Ilona was particularly interested in underprivileged children, the disabled and world suffering. She worked tirelessly to make the world a better place. Ilona is survived by the Toth family and childhood friend Marta Kravianszki of Hungary, the Regimbal, Goguen and Panek families and her many friends from Hungary and across Canada. Unfortunately, Frontal Lobe Dementia prevented her from fully enjoying her many friends in her later years. Special thanks to Mr. Gauthier, Melinda, Zsuzsa, Susana, Anna and the other dedicated helpers that made her life comfortable in the end. A Celebration of Ilona's life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. Reception to follow. MOFFATT, James Joseph, Peacefully surrounded by his loving children, on October 16, 2005 at the age of 81, Jim passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital following a very brief illness. Jim was predeceased by his mother Lillian Burke (1975) father John Moffatt (1929) and brother Jack (2004). Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan Flannery, his sister Betty Daniel of Thornhill and brother Kenneth of Louisiana. He is survived by his much loved children, Maureen (Wayne Squib b), Marilyn (Robert Kram), Gary (Lorri Metcalfe) and Greg (Dr. Vivian Liu): and his adored grandchildren, Cristin (Adam Lazier), Jessica, Elizabeth, Geoffrey, Jonathan, James, Jaclyn, Allison, Bryan, Jordan and Clare. Born in Toronto, graduating from commerce at Malvern, Jim joined the RCAF in 1942. Following his discharge, he moved to St. Catharines where he co-founded and presided as president of Niagara Welder's Supply until selling his interst to Union Carbide in 1991. During his career he s erved several terms as Chairman of The Canadian Welding Society and The Ontario Welder's Supply Association. Jim and his wife Joan were active golf and curling members of The St. Catharines Golf and Curling Club for over 55 years. He served several y ears on the Board of Directors, becoming on Honorary Member in 1999. At his Tribute it was stated: "Jim is a mild-mannered man of integrity and gentlemanly qualities. Many of our older members have known him for decades and what we have written will not be news to them. However, we would bet that every one of them considers themselves to be one of his friends and you can be sure that they carry that distinction with pride. That is the essence of Jim Moffatt." VANNIER, Jean Louis (Johnny) - of Espanola passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, Laurentian Site on Saturday, October 15th, 2005 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Jane (nee Adams) of Espanola. Dear son of the late Rod and Parmelia (nee Nadeau) Vannier. Loving brother of Mrs. Angele Turcotte-Bowes, Mrs. Isabelle Brown and Bruno Vannier (wife Madeleine) all of Sturgeon Falls, Eugene Vannier (wife Geraldine) of Oakville and the late Jules Vannier. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Johnny Vannier was nicknamed one of the "Flying Frenchmen" while with the Paisley Pirates of Scotland. Vannier was chosen from 350 players from all over the Dominion. His skill allowed him to excel in baseball, badminton, skiing and swimming, as well as hockey. He played for the Sudbury Juveniles, Wolves Juniors, Legionnaires, and the Copper Cliff Junior "A" Redmen; the Canadian Legion Intermediates; the Paisley Pirates, the Fife Flyers and the All Stars of Scotland. John was inducted into the Nipissing Hall of Fame and was recognized for his contribution to Canadian hockey. John was originally from Sturgeon Falls and at the age of 18 joined the army and moved to Ottawa where he played for the Ottawa Senators. After the war, Vannier played in England and Scotland. In 1952 he had a conditional offer with KVP Espanola as stationary engineer but had to agree to play hockey with the Mill hockey team the KVEE'S. John was an Ordinary Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 39, Espanola and a Veteran of World War II. ADAMS, Irene - Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully, after a short stay at the Grace Hospital, Irene Adams, age 98 passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2005. Irene was predeceased by her husband "Babe" and sons Dean and Jim. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Luella Lumley (Jack); sister Grace Haig; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Irene was long time member and a Past Noble Grand of St. James Rebekah Lodge No. 47, I.O.O.F., and in 1978 she was the first member of that lodge to have earned the Decoration of Chivalry. This decoration is given for volunteer work. As well, Irene was an active member of Sturgeon Creek United Church and took up painting with their “Crafty Crafters”, producing some beautiful paintings, which she graciously gave to family members. The family thanks the staff at West Park Manor for their many years of loving caring for Irene and also thanks the Grace Hospital nursing staff and Dr. Borrett for the tender care given to Mom. A celebration of Irene's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. A reception will follow at the church. KEESVILLE, NY— Dr. Margaret Marie (Ahrensfield) Laperle of Keesville NY, Orwigsburg and Philadelphia PA passed away October 16, 2005 in University of Massachusetts Hospital University Campus in Worcester, MA at age 47. Dr. Laperle was born September 15, 1958 in Orwigsburg, PA to Genevieve (Fishola) and the late William Ahrensfield. She was raised in Orwigsburg PA and graduated from St. Ambrose Grade School in Schuykill Haven, PA and Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville, PA. Margaret won 1st place in the State of Pennsylvania High School Science Fair Competition in 1972. She then graduated from The College of St. Francis deSales in Allentown, PA. Dr. Laperle was a researcher at Wistar Institute and The Department of Pathology at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She did her Residency in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, her fellowship in Rheumatology at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian. Dr. Laperle was a nurturing physician who healed the minds and souls of her patients in healing their bodies in the truest sense of the Hippocratic Oath. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Phillipe Laperle of Keesville NY, a native of Worcester, her mother, Genevieve (Fishola) Ahrensfield, her brother Reverend Michael Ahrensfield pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Tremont PA and her sister, Dr. Debra Ahrensfield a Cardiologist in Philadelphia PA. A Memorial Mass for Dr. Laperle will be celebrated Thursday October 20th at 11 am in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 55 Illinois St. in Worcester. Our beloved mother, sister, teacher, hero and friend, PATRICIA E. BLANCHARD left us on October 16, 2005 at the age of 80 to join her husband, Edward J. Blanchard, Jr. in the company of Our Lord, after an 8 year battle with breast cancer. A resident of Houston, she was born in Port Chester, New York to Dominick and Elizabeth Arbusto. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Jennings; six daughters and their husbands, Mary (Mike), Pat (Skip), JoAnne (Tommy), Marian (Tom), Margaret (Fabio) and Elizabeth (Francisco); nine grandchildren, Laura and husband William, Sam, Michael, Dustin, Adam, Brian, Leonardo, Kiko and Sofia; one great grandchild, Morgan; six step-grandchildren Daniel, Jerrell, Ashley and husband Johnny, Chuck and wife Monique, Brent and wife Ana and Neil; one step-great grandchild, Bella, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005, in the Chapel at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. WOODLAND - Jeannine "Jean" Ouellette died Oct. 16, 2005, at her home in Woodland. She was born April 2, 1937, the daughter of Albert and Madeline Chabre'. Jean "Nannie" enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Bryan and Katelin, in which she shared a special place in her heart for them. Jean was also fond of her many moments that were spent at the Kingdom Hall, practicing the Jehovah Religion. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Roland J. Ouellette in 2000. She is survived by her son, Garry and daughter-in-law, Melissa, and their children, Bryan and Katelin Ouellette, all of Woodland. She is survived by her brother and sisters, Clemence Gagnon, Edwina Michaud, Corrine Michaud, Rodrique and his wife, Debbie Chabre', Richard Chabre', Juliette St. Peter, Irene and her husband, Gene Rowland and Romeo and his wife, Martha Chabre'; and many nieces and nephews. Jean will be remembered for her great sense of humor and loving laughter that touched all of the lives that she came in contact with. Mr. DuCharme was employed by General Motors, Fisher Body Division for 42 years, retiring in June, 1981 as an Administrative Engineer. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton. Dorothy Mae ``Dot'' (Dumaine) White of Norton, a retired cook, died Wednesday at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident in Attleboro earlier that day. She was 73. Born in Canton, she lived in Norton since 1963, having previously lived in Canton and Stoughton. Mrs. White worked as a cook for 10 years at Butler's Day Care Center in Norton, retiring in 1993. She was previously employed at Kilbourn Glass Co. in Norton, Draper Brothers in Norton and at the Robbins Co. in Attleboro. She was a member of the Chartley United Methodist Church in Norton. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School. Irene had been employed for 28 years at the Grand Union Warehouse Data Operations Center in Waterford and retired in 1988. Prior to that she had been employed at the former J.M. Fields Co. She was a member of the Waterford Senior Citizens, Waterford Bocci League, was a volunteer at the Waterford Visitors Center and had worked at the polls on election days. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and former member of the Altar Society there. She was widow of the late Oscar Ozzie Cooper who died in 1987. She is mother of Paul T. Cooper of Waterford, James O. Cooper and his wife Carla of Saratoga and Michael J. Cooper and his wife Paula of Cohoes; sister of Bertha Durocher of Waterford, Robert Durocher of Rotterdam, John Durocher of Cohoes, Flo Guild of Clifton Park, Barbara Gibbs of Troy, the late Eugene Durocher and Mildred Charbonneau. Frank Michael Gagne, 89, Port Orange, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at Ocean View Nursing Home in New Smyrna Beach. Memorial service will be held at a future date in Michigan. Robert Goulet, 75, of East Hartford, husband of Yvette (LeClair) Goulet, tragically passed away Saturday, (October 15, 2005) while assisting fellow friends at his summer home in Stafford. Bob was born August 25, 1930, in Biddeford, ME. He was the son of Oscar and Antoinette (Gagne) Goulet. With job opportunities in Connecticut Bob relocated with his wife Yvette. For the next 55 years Bob and Yvette lived and raised their four children in East Hartford. Robert was a man of generosity, passion, and love. Robert served over 50 years in the Local #478 as a crane and heavy machine operator. His family and helping others was his passion in life. In addition to helping his son-in-law at M&M Electric after retiring, Bob volunteered his time to help fellow campers at Roaring Brook campground. Roaring Brook campground was like a second home to Bob, his generosity was felt by all. Robert leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Yvette Goulet, their two children, Debbie LaBelle, Robbie Goulet and son-in-law, Michael Martin. He also leaves behind four brothers: Ralph, Roland, Rene, Ray; and six sisters: Dolores, Francis, Teresa, Madeline, Larine and Rachel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 1600 Main Street, Coventry. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Coventry. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5-9 p.m. at the Ladd Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., Vernon. Memorial donations may be made to the LRM Foundation, P.O.
