TYNGSBORO -- Robert L. Joyal, 69, a Tyngsboro resident who was the former owner of local furniture companies and a U.S. Navy veteran, died yesterday, Oct. 17, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. He was the husband of Cecile C. (Soucy) Joyal, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 29.He was born in Lowell, March 6, 1936, son of the late Harvey A. and Dafter R. (Vielicka) Joyal.Mr. Joyal served with the Navy as a naval diver during the late 1950s, and was stationed aboard the USS Boston.Prior to retirement, Mr. Joyal worked for C.M.C. Torque Systems of Billerica, and previously at G.C.A. Corp., of Andover.Mr. Joyal was also the owner of the former Leo Joyal Furniture Co., and the Woodland Furniture Co., which were located in Lowell.Mr. Joyal was an avid hunter and was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He also enjoyed weightlifting, golfing, swimming and diving.Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark Joyal of Derry, N.H., Kevin and Elaine (Penno) Joyal of Brookfield, Vt., and Steven and Paula (Ward) Joyal of Tyngsboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Darlene and David Dumais of Tyngsboro, Laurie Upright of Ogden, Kan., and Tammy and Anthony Doody of Nashua; and 15 grandchildren.He also leaves several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. BURLINGTON, CONN. -- Marilyn (Chase) Soulier, RN, 65, of Burlington, Conn., beloved wife of the late Francis "Tiny" Soulier peacefully passed away, after a gallant battle with cancer on Oct. 14, 2005, at home surrounded by her family.She was born on Aug. 11, 1940, in Bristol, daughter of the late John and Lorene (Maynard) Chase.Marilyn was educated in the public schools in Bristol and went on to graduate at St. Mary's Nursing School in 1961.She retired from John Dempsey, UCONN Medical Center in Farmington after 28 years as nursing supervisor. Peter F. Timberlake PORTERS LAKE, NS - Peter Frederick Timberlake, 80, of Porters Lake, NS, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2005. Born in Hastings, England, he was the son of the late George (Fred) and Annie Timberlake, and predeceased by his sisters, Winnie and Jean (Hastings, England). Loving husband to Rose for 46 years, formally of Penrith, England who passed away in 1991. He will be deeply missed by his children, Tony (Port Alberni, BC), grandchildren, Lisa and Devin; Alan (Prince George, BC) wife, Jan, grandchildren, Sara and Jacob; Gary (Fredericton, NB) wife, Mary, grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon; Lyn (Porters Lake) husband, Steven, grandson, Douglas; nieces and nephews in England. Peter was a WWII Veteran with the British Royal Navy and employee of the BBC prior to immigrating to Canada. Peter held several positions with the Canadian Marconi Company, the Canadian Broadcasting Company- Engineering Headquarters, and Radio Canada International. He retired in 1989 as the Plant Manager of the RCI transmitting station, Sackville, NB. After retirement, Peter and Rose enjoyed time living in PEI, making many close friends. For the past 10 years, Peter made his home with his daughter, Lyn and her family in Porters Lake. Peter enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and annual vacations in Cuba with his daughter. His devotion to the Orenda Canoe Club and its paddlers will be sadly missed. To the paddlers, remember "Just Do Your Best". Peter and his family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Dartmouth General, Victoria General, and the Dickson building who cared for him. Born on March 4, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Inez (Till) Carr and the wife of Andrew Chappelle. Hazel was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her husband, Andrew of Geary; her daughters, Anna Stewart of Fredericton, NB, the late Beverley Blinn, Peggy Gallagher and Edna Drummond both of Geary, NB; her sons, Robin and James both of Cincinnati, OH; her 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; her special niece, Brenda and her special Nephew, Allison; as well as several other nieces and nephews. Daniel "Dan" Drozdiak December 22, 1922 - October 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Acacia Lodge. Born in Edson, Alberta on December 22, 1922. Predeceased by his first wife Muriel (1975); second wife Ivy (1996); stepsons Stan (1987) and Ray (1996); brother Bill (1944). COOK, ALMA - Mrs. Alma Cook of Portagevale Rd, Penobsquis, NB passed away at the Moncton Hospital on October 15, 2005 at the age of 80. Born in Annadale, New Brunswick on January 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Scribner) Mallory and the wife of the late Verdon Cook. Alma is survived by her children: Valerie Orbic of Saint John, Amos and Georgina Patterson of Sussex, Sharon and Clay Weber of Penobsquis, Linda Patterson and George McKillop of Portagevale Rd. Glendon and Lila Patterson of Sussex and Heather Patterson and Fred Power with whom she resided. Alma is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Alma was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Alma enjoyed playing Bingo and Yard Sales. Mrs. Goguen was born in Petit Rocher, a daughter of the late Charles and Hectorine (Comeau) Frenette, and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John. She was pre-deceased by one brother Cleo Frenette; and two sisters, Jeannette Fournier and Rita Boudreau. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, David Goguen (Colleen) of Saint John; one daughter, Jeannette Goguen (David Braman) of Hoyt; four sisters, Leda Doucet (Rene), Blondine Legace, Noella Legace, and Reina Frenette, all of Petit Rocher; two grandchildren, Rob McCormack (Kim) and Gina Fifield (Paul); and one great-granddaughter, Emma Fifield. SEGUIN, Dale (1961-2005) After a long and courageous fight against cancer, Dale died peacefully in the arms of his family, on 05.10.14 . Survived by Lise, Kyle, Meghan, and Dakota, Dale also leaves mother Joyce Warren Seguin, brother Gary, sister Debbie, and his other brother Carlo. Albert J. "Chip" LeBrun, Jr., 55, of Hartford, died Saturday, (October 15, 2005) at the home of his brother and sister-in-law after a year-long struggle with cancer. Born in Concord, NH on September 21, 1950, he moved to Connecticut in 1956 and attended Hartford schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably on the USS Joseph Strauss during the Vietnam War. He was employed for 27 years by Hartford Hospital and the Institute of Living and spent many happy days at his beloved campsite in Stafford. He leaves his parents, Ann (Henneberry) LeBrun and Albert LeBrun, Sr. of Lake Worth, FL; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen LeBrun of Hartford, his brother, Stephen LeBrun; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gregory Burkhardt of Downers Grove, IL, and their daughters, Hannah and Emma, his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Barry Donaghue of Windsor, and their daughter and his godchild, Erin Donaghue of Prague, the Czech Republic, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many devoted, compassionate friends, co-workers and camping buddies. Chip's family would like to express their deep gratitude to his co-workers and caregivers, particularly to Ken Strom of VNA's Project Hope for his kindness, patience and professionalism. Beloved husband of Anna (Rush) for forty-nine years, and proud and loving father of Karen, Charles (deceased), Nancy, Sheila (Eric), David (Arden) and Colleen (Patrick). Born in Marmora, Ontario, Carl was the eldest son of the late Vincent Lynch and Anna (Maloney). He is survived by two sisters: Patricia (Barry) Olson of Vancouver, B.C., and Anna (James) Cosgrove of Havelock, and four brothers: Morris (Bernadette) of Marmora, Doug (Eleanor) of Deloro, Keith (Yola) of Havelock, and Vincent (Joy) of Belleville. In 1952, Carl graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering. He began his career with General Motors Diesel in London, Ontario, moving to Deloro Stellite before joining the Aluminum Company of Canada (ALCAN) in Kingston in 1957.In 1961, he transferred to ALCAN's Montreal Head Office, where,over the course of thirty years, Carl earned an international reputation as a leader in his field. Bessie May Oulton Horsman 1913 - 2005 The death of Bessie M. Horsman, 92, of Bromley Avenue, Moncton occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, October 15, 2005. Born in Jolicure, NB on April 24, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Eva (Phinney) Oulton. A graduate of the Provincial Normal School in 1931, Mrs. Horsman taught school in Westmorland Co. and for 25 years in Moncton. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Leigh) Manning of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack H. Horsman in 1975; by her sisters, Alice Bowser and Eleanor Reeder; and her brother, Ralph Oulton. It was Bessie's request that there not be visiting hours or funeral service. LEWISTON - Suzanne Wiseman, 85, of d'Youville Pavilion, and formerly a resident of Auburn and Minot, went home to be with her family and God on Oct. 16.She was born March 7, 1920, in Bonnet, France, one of six children to Georges and Jeanne (Lavallee) Chion.She met Cpl. Vincent Wiseman while he was serving in World War II and later married him on July 7, 1945, in Bar-Le-Duc, France.She gave birth to a son, Alain Wiseman on Jan. 29, 1946, and immigrated to Lewiston later that year.She worked in the shoe industry in Lewiston while teaching herself to read and write English. She loved and missed her family in France and corresponded with them often. She made return trips to visit family by boat and then by plane as permitted.She later retired from the shoe industry and cared for her grandson Jacques Wiseman. Her husband passed away in September 1977.She remained active and could be found riding the bus between Lewiston and Auburn, shopping and visiting the library for many years. She even continued to ride her bicycle along with her grandson throughout the Auburn countryside for many years, and held a special place in his heart. She gave tirelessly of herself to her family, often thinking of them rather than herself. She always enjoyed coffee and a croissant, a day of shopping, or taking in a movie with her grandson. Even when the effects of Alzheimer's had robbed her of many memories, she would always have a smile and enjoy a meal with family at Campus Cuisine, especially with her son and daughter-in-law Barbara Wiseman.She had a special place in her heart for her great-grandson Jake Wiseman, and she loved to hold his hand while being pushed in her wheelchair. She will be sadly missed and thought of often.She leaves a son, Alain Wiseman and his wife, Barbara, of Minot; a grandson, Jacques Wiseman and his wife, Martha, of Mechanic Falls; and a great-grandson, Jake Wiseman.She was predeceased by her three sisters; two brothers from France; and her husband, Vincent.

BARRIE, Ontario -- Amy Hall Parenteau, 93, a relative of a local resident, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at the Roberta Place in Barrie, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late Edmund (Spud) Parenteau, she was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Foulis. Graduating in 1938 from Western Hospital in Toronto, Amy worked as a Red Cross nurse in Bracebridge and Dryden, Ontario. She spent her later years at Thunder Lake, Dryden and at Tarpon Springs and Titusville, Fl. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Richard and Martha Muzetta Williams (née Amy); her sister, Helen Muzetta Harris; her niece, Margaret Jean Robertson; and stepdaughters, Leila Berrey and Del McDougald. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, Anah E. Hunter of Barrie, Ontario, Mary I. Piette of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and E. Ruth English of Melrose, Ontario; stepdaughter, Tan Wigle of Vancouver, BC; and stepson, Mike Parenteau of Concord. She was loved dearly by her many nieces and nephews and stepgrandchildren, the Berreys, the McDougalds, the Wigles and the Parenteaus. A pianist with a swing, an avid golfer, and a loving friend to so many, she celebrated life. Amy's family especially extends thanks to the Roberta Place staff,who cared for her so well. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Belleville, Ontario. Amy Martina (Utterberg) St. Pierre, 87, of Lovely Street, Canton, beloved wife of 60 years of the late Joseph A. St. Pierre died Saturday (October 15, 2005). She was born July 31, 1918 in West Hartford, daughter of the late Martin S. and Sigrid (Hjelmstrom) Utterberg and had lived in West Hartford prior to moving to Canton 41 years ago. She was a graduate of Hall High School. Mrs. St. Pierre worked at Travelers Insurance Company until she was married in 1940. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and a wonderful homemaker. In 1953, she began working as Bookkeeper, holding the Office of Secretary, at St. Pierre Box and Lumber Company, Inc. founded by her husband. Resigning from the Office of Chairperson in 2003, she continued working at the Company as Bookkeeper until her hospitalization in September 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Flattery and her husband, John of Canton; her son, John "Jack" St. Pierre and his wife, Karen of Burlington; and is known as "Monga" to her devoted grandchildren, Brigid (Flattery) Barnes of Arlington, VA, Candace (Flattery) Freedenberg of Canton, Shannon (Flattery) Sharp of Brooklyn, NY, Christopher St. Pierre of Las Vegas, NV, and Melanie St. Pierre of Tuscan, AZ; and two nephews, Donald Utterberg of Rocky Hill, and Robert Utterberg of Wallingford. She enjoyed precious time with five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Everett S. Utterberg. Barbara "Bobbie" (Thibodeau) Leger Erismann, 75, formerly of Broad Brook and Enfield, died Friday, (October 14, 2005) at Fox Hill Center in Rockville, after a long illness. Bobbie was born in Stoughton, MA, the only child of the late Alfred R. and Ada (Prance-Barry) Thibodeau. She married William C. Leger, a jazz percussionist, in 1951. They moved to Connecticut in 1957 and built the Atlantic Fence Co. of South Windsor. As a member of the Ellington Ridge Country Club, Bobbie was a ladies' nine-hole golf champion. After Bill's death in 1978, she turned her considerable talents for sewing and interior decoration into Thimble Masters, Inc. Bobbie loved books and had an encyclopedic knowledge of movies. Her wit and generosity were legendary. Bobbie is survived by a daughter, Diane (Leger) Newth of Broad Brook; a son, David Paul Leger of East Windsor; and two nieces, Maryann and Charlene Scalia. She was predeceased by her second husband, John Erismann; and her beloved son-in-law, Paul Edward Newth, Jr. Bobbie's children wish to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the nursing and aid staff at Fox Hill Center, who cared for Bobbie with respect and affection. In addition, a special thank you to the hospice personnel of the Visiting Nurses & Health Services of Vernon. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. CHICOPEE - Edna B. Murphy passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on Saturday October 15, 2005. Edna was born on May 1, 1912, one of nine children of Alfred and Maryjane St. Marie of Chicopee. She was the last living member of the nine, predeceased by 5 brothers; Leo, Alfred Ernest, Raymond and Jerome St. Marie and her 3 sisters Lillian and Rose St. Marie, and Viola Desmarais. Her husband, Thomas F. Murphy passed away on October 6, 1979. Edna leaves her 5 children: Marilyn Fallon and her husband Steven, of Westfield; Barbara Van Kirk and her husband Fred of Arcanum, Ohio; William Murphy and his wife Susan of Chicopee; Thomas F. Murphy Jr., of Chicopee and his companion Noreen Robinson of Feeding Hills; and John Murphy and his wife Margaret of Holyoke. Edna had 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Edna's greatest love was her family, and they will always remember her quick wit and friendly smile. She graduated from Chicopee High School in 1928, earning a scholarship to Bay Path College and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Parish in Chicopee Falls. Edna was an accomplished pianist when she met her husband Thomas, who himself was a concert violinist. She retired from A.G. Spalding in 1975 after stitching Major League baseballs for over 20 years and then worked at Holy Name Parish Rectory in Chicopee. She was an avid reader often reading 2 to 3 books each week. Funeral will be held on Wednesday Oct. 19, 2005 at 8:30 AM from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield Street, Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick's Church at 10 AM. Born in Hastings, England, he was the son of the late George (Fred) and Annie Timberlake, and was predeceased by his sisters, Winnie and Jean (Hastings, England). Loving husband to Rose for 46 years, formerly of Penrith, England, who passed away in 1991. He will be deeply missed by his children, Tony, Port Alberni, B.C., and grandchildren Lisa and Devin; Alan, Prince George, B.C., wife Jan and grandchildren Sara and Jacob; Gary, Fredericton, N.B., wife Mary and grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon; Lyn, Porters Lake, husband Steven and grandson Douglas; nieces and nephews in England. Peter was a Second World War veteran with the British Royal Navy and employee of the BBC prior to immigrating to Canada. Peter held several positions with the Canadian Marconi Company, the Canadian Broadcasting Company-Engineering Headquarters, and Radio Canada International. He retired in 1989 as the Plant Manager of the RCI transmitting station, Sackville, N.B. After retirement, Peter and Rose enjoyed time living in Prince Edward Island, making many close friends. For the past 10 years, Peter made his home with his daughter, Lyn and her family in Porters Lake. Peter enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and annual vacations in Cuba with his daughter. His devotion to the Orenda Canoe Club and its paddlers will be sadly missed. To the paddlers, remember "Just Do Your Best".
