STEWART, HALSEY - On Monday, October 17, 2005, Halsey Stewart, loving husband of Florence (Hanson) Stewart passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Whites Cove, NB, he was the son of the late Beverly and Verna Stewart. Halsey drove taxi in Saint John for many years with Al's Taxi and ABC Taxi, and also worked for MIT Sales. Besides his wife, Halsey is survived by his daughter Nancy and her husband Peter; one grandson: Peter Michael; two sisters: Lillian McDermott (Frank), Shirley Kingston (Bob); one brother: Stanley Stewart (Mary); several nieces and nephews, all of Saint John. Halsey is predeceased by his sister Orla Stewart and by his granddaughter Katelyn Conway. She passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, October 17, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre after a 12 year battle with scleroderma. Ethel was predeceased by her father, Robert, and her mother, Ina Kingsley. She is survived by her husband David, son Matthew, daughter Connie, brother Glen (Donna) Kingsley, sister Shirley (John) Sigurdson, brother-in-law David Hunter and many dear nephews and nieces. Born in Eriksdale, Manitoba, she moved to Winnipeg after graduation where she completed her B.A. at the University of Winnipeg. She loved camping trips, gardening and was an avid writer, but her greatest enjoyment was doing things with her family and many friends. Her quiet strength and humor made her a joy to be around and her loving demeanor will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Reception will follow the service. MINGUY (Soeur Cécile) Le 9 octobre 2005, est décédée à la Maison Bon-Pasteur à Sainte-Foy, à l’âge de 88 ans, Soeur Cécile Minguy (soeur Saint-Stanislas-Kostka), après 66 ans de vie religieuse dans la Congrégation des Soeurs du Bon-Pasteur. Les funérailles ont eu lieu le mardi 11 octobre 2005 à la Résidence Mgr-LeMay, 1180, chemin Ste-Foy, Québec. L’inhumation a eu lieu au cimetière de la Communauté, rue Pinsart à Sainte-Foy. Soeur Cécile Minguy est née à Limoilou, Québec. Sa vie a été consacrée à l’éducation. Avec ardeur et conviction, elle a su transmettre des valeurs qui ont marqué les jeunes et les adultes qu’elle a côtoyés. Dans notre région où soeur Cécile a aimé vivre, les années 1963 à 1994 l’ont vue « se donner » tantôt à l’École Saint-Michel et l’École du Sacré-Coeur, comme enseignante, tantôt à l’École secondaire Lafontaine, comme Directrice pendant onze ans. Elle fut aussi conseillère et coordonnatrice à la Commission Scolaire, à l’École des Adultes pendant onze ans. Volontaire et toujours fidèle à elle-même, soeur Cécile a mené le bon combat jusqu’à la fin, même au temps de la maladie. Outre sa famille religieuse qui l’affectionnait, elle comptait de nombreux amie(s) parmi le personnel enseignant et celui de la direction scolaire. EDMUND RUDOLPH LIEDKE Edmund R. Liedke, 84, of River’s Edge Villa in International Falls, Mn., went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005. Ed was born Nov. 29, 1920 in Fabiandorf Province, Dangzig, Germany. He served in the German armed forces in the Panzer division during World War II on the Russian front from 1940-45. In 1950, Edmund emigrated to the United States, travelling on the Queen Elizabeth I and landing at the port of New York. He began working on his uncle’s farm in Valley City, N.D. until moving to International Falls later that year. He was hired on with Boise Cascade in the Insulite division, where he worked as a machine operator until his retirement in 1976 due to health problems. Edmund ws united in marriage on Nov. 26, 1951 to the former Marianne Rathje, who also emigrated to the U.S. from Germany. Ed’s love was fishing. He became a guide on Rainy Lake and spent many enjoyable days on the water, either guiding or fishing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting and travelling, and made many trips back to Germany. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in International Falls, and enjoyed many evenings reading and studying the Bible. He was predeceased by his parents, Gustav and Amanda (Breske) Liedke; and his wife, Marianne Liedke (2004). Surviving Edmund are his son, Dennis (Christa) Liedke of International Falls, Mn.; daughter, Rosemarie (Bill) York of Fort Frances, Ont.; and five grandchildren, Brian, Christina, and Dave York, and Angela and Matthew Liedke. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in International Falls. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Lino Nusca March 01, 1935 - October 15, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lino, but it is with joy that he has found his place in his Heavenly home. After a short battle with cancer in his 71st year on Saturday, October 15, 2005 surrounded by his family. Much loved husband of Beverly, his lifelong friend and wife with whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage. Beloved father of Patrick and Rhonda, Maria and Mike (Maille) and Julie and Kim (Aumais). Cherished grandpa, card player and fishing buddy of Nicholas, Rebecca (Steve), Justin, Tim (Natalie), Steven, Sam, Sally, Nathan and Rachel. Loving great-grandfather of Caden. Survived by his brothers, Nino (Vilma), Joseph (Gloria), sister Clara (Tony) Celi and sister-in-law Mary. Brother-in-law of Donna and Earl Grice and Ed and Joan Cooke. Predeceased by his parents Paolo and Marietta (Viola), sister Cecilia (Emilio) Sguigna, brothers Edo (Nina), Anthony and Lino Sr. Lino will lovingly be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lino, along with his wife Beverly, established NUSCA ELECTRIC LTD in 1958. With son Patrick, ACSUN Mobile Signs, and Pat/Lin Laundromat. Lino mentored many young men in the electrical trade business. He was a past president of the Hamilton District Electrical Contractors Association and a member of the Electrical Contractors Association of Hamilton. Lino was also a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #105. He was an active member with the Order of The Sons of Italy and involved as a loyal member/usher at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Lino enjoyed many years of fishing and cooking with his lifelong friends and cousins. The love and support shown to us throughout this difficult time has been a blessing. A very special thank you to Dr. Ross Allega for his dedication and compassionate care. Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers at 4:30. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Assumption Church on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. BARRIE, Ontario -- Amy Hall Parenteau, 93, a relative of a local resident, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at the Roberta Place in Barrie, Ontario. Beloved wife of the late Edmund (Spud) Parenteau, she was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Foulis. Graduating in 1938 from Western Hospital in Toronto, Amy worked as a Red Cross nurse in Bracebridge and Dryden, Ontario. She spent her later years at Thunder Lake, Dryden and at Tarpon Springs and Titusville, Fl. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Richard and Martha Muzetta Williams (née Amy); her sister, Helen Muzetta Harris; her niece, Margaret Jean Robertson; and stepdaughters, Leila Berrey and Del McDougald. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, Anah E. Hunter of Barrie, Ontario, Mary I. Piette of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and E. Ruth English of Melrose, Ontario; stepdaughter, Tan Wigle of Vancouver, BC; and stepson, Mike Parenteau of Concord. She was loved dearly by her many nieces and nephews and stepgrandchildren, the Berreys, the McDougalds, the Wigles and the Parenteaus. A pianist with a swing, an avid golfer, and a loving friend to so many, she celebrated life. Amy's family especially extends thanks to the Roberta Place staff,who cared for her so well. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Belleville, Ontario. CHICOPEE - Edna B. Murphy passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on Saturday October 15, 2005. Edna was born on May 1, 1912, one of nine children of Alfred and Maryjane St. Marie of Chicopee. She was the last living member of the nine, predeceased by 5 brothers; Leo, Alfred Ernest, Raymond and Jerome St. Marie and her 3 sisters Lillian and Rose St. Marie, and Viola Desmarais. Her husband, Thomas F. Murphy passed away on October 6, 1979. Edna leaves her 5 children: Marilyn Fallon and her husband Steven, of Westfield; Barbara Van Kirk and her husband Fred of Arcanum, Ohio; William Murphy and his wife Susan of Chicopee; Thomas F. Murphy Jr., of Chicopee and his companion Noreen Robinson of Feeding Hills; and John Murphy and his wife Margaret of Holyoke. Edna had 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Edna's greatest love was her family, and they will always remember her quick wit and friendly smile. She graduated from Chicopee High School in 1928, earning a scholarship to Bay Path College and was a communicant of St. Patrick's Parish in Chicopee Falls. Edna was an accomplished pianist when she met her husband Thomas, who himself was a concert violinist. She retired from A.G. Spalding in 1975 after stitching Major League baseballs for over 20 years and then worked at Holy Name Parish Rectory in Chicopee. She was an avid reader often reading 2 to 3 books each week. Funeral will be held on Wednesday Oct. 19, 2005 at 8:30 AM from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield Street, Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick's Church at 10 AM. Barbara "Bobbie" (Thibodeau) Leger Erismann, 75, formerly of Broad Brook and Enfield, died Friday, (October 14, 2005) at Fox Hill Center in Rockville, after a long illness. Bobbie was born in Stoughton, MA, the only child of the late Alfred R. and Ada (Prance-Barry) Thibodeau. She married William C. Leger, a jazz percussionist, in 1951. They moved to Connecticut in 1957 and built the Atlantic Fence Co. of South Windsor. As a member of the Ellington Ridge Country Club, Bobbie was a ladies' nine-hole golf champion. After Bill's death in 1978, she turned her considerable talents for sewing and interior decoration into Thimble Masters, Inc. Bobbie loved books and had an encyclopedic knowledge of movies. Her wit and generosity were legendary. Bobbie is survived by a daughter, Diane (Leger) Newth of Broad Brook; a son, David Paul Leger of East Windsor; and two nieces, Maryann and Charlene Scalia. She was predeceased by her second husband, John Erismann; and her beloved son-in-law, Paul Edward Newth, Jr. Bobbie's children wish to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the nursing and aid staff at Fox Hill Center, who cared for Bobbie with respect and affection. In addition, a special thank you to the hospice personnel of the Visiting Nurses & Health Services of Vernon. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. SEGUIN, Dale (1961-2005) After a long and courageous fight against cancer, Dale died peacefully in the arms of his family, on 05.10.14 . SALAMIS 1897-2005 Father Nicholas Salamis passed away peacefully at home in Montreal on October 15, 2005 at the age of one hundred and eight. He was born in Leka, Samos, Greece in 1897, the son of Constantine and Marigo. He followed his brother Basil to North America in 1914. He returned to Greece for 5 years in the 1930's. He married Efrosini Vergou in 1938 and was then ordained as a Greek Orthodox priest. During the 2nd World War he served at St George's Church in Toronto where his children Marika and Constantine were born. He travelled to communities big and small across Ontario at that time. He suffered the loss of his beloved wife in 1985 and more recently his son in May 2004. His life was one of service. During his long career he touched many lives. His love for the Greek community and its people was boundless. He is survived by daughter Marika Asimakopulos; his grand-daughters Anna and Julia; his great-grand-daughter Clara; his daughter-in-law Corinne Salamis; his nephews Constantine B. Salamis and Reverend Evangelos Georgiades and his niece Marika Panagopoulos, as well as many cousins. His body will lie in state at St. George's Cathedral, 2455 Cote Ste Catherine Rd., Wednesday and Thursday October 19 and 20 from 3:30 to 8pm. The funeral will be held at 10:00am on Friday October 21, 2005. Albert J. "Chip" LeBrun, Jr., 55, of Hartford, died Saturday, (October 15, 2005) at the home of his brother and sister-in-law after a year-long struggle with cancer. Born in Concord, NH on September 21, 1950, he moved to Connecticut in 1956 and attended Hartford schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably on the USS Joseph Strauss during the Vietnam War. He was employed for 27 years by Hartford Hospital and the Institute of Living and spent many happy days at his beloved campsite in Stafford. He leaves his parents, Ann (Henneberry) LeBrun and Albert LeBrun, Sr. of Lake Worth, FL; his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen LeBrun of Hartford, his brother, Stephen LeBrun; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gregory Burkhardt of Downers Grove, IL, and their daughters, Hannah and Emma, his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Barry Donaghue of Windsor, and their daughter and his godchild, Erin Donaghue of Prague, the Czech Republic, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many devoted, compassionate friends, co-workers and camping buddies. LEWIS, Mary June - June 11, 1937 - October 14, 2005 June Lewis, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home and formerly of Mindemoya, died at the Mindemoya Hospital on Friday, October 14, 2005 at the age of 68 years. She was born at Spring Bay, daughter of Evelyn (Galbraith) (Legge) Pattison and the late Warren Legge. June was very active lady who, when living in Sudbury, had been an avid bowler and when she and her husband Earl retired back home, she enjoyed curling. June was extremely active in the community, volunteering in many local organizations. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Providence Bay Seniors groups, the Providence Bay Agriculture Society, the Campbell Horticulture Society and when called on to cook or bake for any function, she was always willing to help. June was also the co-ordinator of Tourist Info on the Chi-Cheemaun. She also found time to knit, embroider, cross stitch, paper tole, needle craft or any other craft she came across. Her handywork and items of clothing were shared with many and cherished by all recipients. June loved to visit with people, but her greatest joy was her family. A loving and loved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be sadly missed, but many happy memories will be forever cherished. June was predeceased by her husband Earl Lewis Jr. on February 19, 1988. Cherished daughter of Evelyn Pattison of Spring Bay. Dearly loved and loving mother of Donald and Colleen of Scarborough, Michael of Alberta, Larry and Lucille of Sudbury and Steven of Mindemoya. LUNENBURG -- Sylvia G. (Leger) Loiselle, of Rivercourt Residence, 8 West Main St., Groton, former longtime resident of Lunenburg, died on Sept. 30, in Sterling Health Care, after an illness. She was born on Jan. 5, 1926, in Fitchburg, the daughter of Wilfred and Alice (Legendre) Leger and was raised in Fitchburg. She attended and graduated from Fitchburg High School. While in school she had been a cashier and bookkeeper at the former Army-Navy store on Main Street in Fitchburg.Mrs. Loiselle was a very accomplished artist in oil, watercolors, and in digital photography and also studied at the Fitchburg Art Museum and the Worcester Art Museum. She was a member of the Fitchburg Art Museum, Sharon Art Center, Worcester Center for Arts and Crafts, and ARTS-Worcester.She was a founding member of Our Lady of the Lake Church. Mrs. Loiselle loved to travel extensively and one of her hobbies was gardening. She had a tin collecton for over 50 years and had a great love for all the arts. Many of her paintings can be seen at local art galleries and on June 3 and 4 of this year, she had a one-woman art exhibit of her work at the Groton Senior Center. Her artwork can also be seen at Rivercourt Residence where she was living.Mrs. Loiselle leaves her son, James M. and his wife Melissa of McLean, Va.; her daughter, Carol A. and her husband Michael J. Shiel of Lunenburg; a brother, Aimee Leger of Fitchburg; and her grandchildren, Stephanie and Brian Shiel of Lunenburg. Her husband of 35 years, Vincent E.
