Rhoda Richter Dessommes, of New Orleans, Louisiana and of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully on October 3, 2005 in Dallas, Texas. She was 64 years old. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Michael Andre Dessommes; six children: Genevieve Dessommes Denny (David), Paul Michael Dessommes, Louis LeJeune Dessommes, Marie Elise Dessommes (Bastiaan Knottenbelt), Yvonne Dessommes Preisman (Jason) and Isaac Martin Dessommes; two grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, one sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Andre Philippe Dessommes. Funeral services were held October 7, 2005 at the Church of the Incarnation at University of Dallas in Irving, Texas. PARADIS, Donna Jean - Age 78, of Flushing, died October 14, 2005 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 3202 Forest Hill, Flint. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday and Monday at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Person Rd., Flushing, where a Scripture service will be held at 6 PM Monday. Mrs. Paradis will be taken to the church to lie in state from 9 AM until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church or the American Heart Association. Mrs. Paradis was born October 16, 1926, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Schmitzer) Wittbrodt. She married Kenneth Paradis on August 30, 1947. Donna was a charter member of St. Luke Catholic Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. She is survived by: husband, Kenneth; sons, Dennis Paradis and wife Janet Olszewski, Scott and wife Peggy Paradis; grandchildren, Joshua Clever and Melissa and Markus Lonnquist; great-grandson, Nicklas; sister, Norine and husband Winston Hildebrant; nephews, Thomas Hildebrant, Tim Alberts and Phil Alberts; nieces, Mary Ann Tubbs, Diana Gardner, Louise Alberts, Jane Mudry and Mary Frances Cohen; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Edward O' Hare. Ms Marie-Ange Claire Jalbert December 24, 1907 - October 13, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel On October 13, 2005, Marie-Ange Jalbert, aged 97, passed peacefully into the arms of the angels at the Tache Centre. Daughter of the late Octave Jalbert and Amanda DeChamplain, Marie-Ange was born on December 24, 1907 in Fort Frances, ON the eighth in a family of 11. Her early education was in Fort Frances, followed by high school in St. Boniface, graduating from l'Academie St. Joseph in 1928. She spent a year in a Carmelite community. Marie-Ange was the caregiver of her aging parents for many years. After the death of her father, she and her sister Therese left for Ottawa, to be employed in clerical work. The majority of her working years were then devoted to assisting her brother priests in their Oblate parishes, retiring to St. Boniface in 1979. Marie-Ange was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Louise (Mere Marie-Octavienne, a Franciscan Sister), Adelaide (Sr. Louise a Sister of Our Lady of the Missions), Fr Leon OMI, Leona Poirier, Fr Marcel, Therese, Wilfred and George. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Fr Julien Jalbert, OMI of Winnipeg; her sister Anita Roy of Thunder Bay, ON; her niece and goddaughter Denise Terpstra (John Cope) of Winnipeg; nieces Lucille Roy (Joe Hewitson) of Montreal, and Louise Plante (Raymond) of Bobcaygeon, ON. Catherine "Rena" Mowat Burfoot (née Gair) March 19, 1917 - October 14, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with deep sorrow and sadness the Burfoot family announces the passing of our wife and mother Rena. She was the beloved wife of 65 years and soul mate to Alf. Rena will be greatly missed by husband Alf; son Robert “Bob” and wife Linda; daughter Rosalind Scaife and life mate Robert “Bob” Cancade; grandchildren Glen, Brent and wife Tara, Colleen Unger and husband Darcy, Catherine Scaife and life mate James Roy; great-grandchildren Megan, Josh, Noah, Katie, Alix and Colton. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Bette, Vi and Myrt and numerous nieces and nephews. Rena was predeceased by her parents Robert and Marjorie Gair and siblings Maybell, Jack, Pat (Pearl), Alec, Don, Bill, Allen and Bruce. Rena was a gracious caring person who helped raise her siblings and cared for her parents in their later years. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the “apples of her eye”. She was a CGIT leader, and a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary, United Church and the Eastern Star. She was employed by Eaton’s in her early years and then by Winnipeg Enterprises. Rena and husband Alf spent many enjoyable years at their Grand Beach cottage and was fortunate to do some traveling in her later years. Rena loved music, dancing, square dancing and time with relatives and good friends. She golfed, curled and liked to play baseball as a young lady but her greatest enjoyment was playing with her grandchildren. When Grannie was around, there was always something to do! Rena’s later years she resided at Middlechurch Home with Alf. Our thanks to some special staff members who cared for Mum. Mum will be certainly missed but her wonderful memories will live on with us. In keeping with the family’s wishes a graveside service will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Wpg., MB R3C 2B7.

Robert Gordon Bedwell , 1923 - , 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with profound sorrow that we announce the quiet and peaceful passing of our loving husband and father. Dad will be sadly missed by his family. Bob is survived by his wife June who recently celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with him. His son David of St. Catharines, ON (Helen); granddaughter Sheila (Mark) and great grandson Kory of Vancouver, BC; grandson Todd (Kristina) of Oakville, ON and his daughter Donna Farebrother (Barry) of Winnipeg, and grandson Currie (Denise) of Fort St. John, BC; great grandsons Robbie and Emmitt and granddaughter Rhonda Paulic (Peter) of Thompson, MB; great grandson Braden and great granddaughter Kelsie. Bob was predeceased by his mother and father, Amelia and Albert of Winnipeg and his only brother Thomas and sister-in-law Irene also of Winnipeg. Bob was born and raised in Winnipeg and as a young man volunteered to serve his country in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. Upon returning from the war he joined the department of transport as a met-technician where he worked for 35 years until retiring as an inspector in 1980. Bob was an avid curler and enjoyed the outdoors spending much time camping and fishing with his family. After settling into retirement he spent many hours woodworking and carving leaving us many mementos of his fine work. He spent endless hours in his yard and enjoyed the company of his close neighbours who had been friends for many years. Special thanks to Dr. Bergen and all the staff at Concordia Hospital who took such great care of dad during his short illness. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service as the family has decided to celebrate his life together in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

SCARBOROUGH - Raymond Boissonneau, passed away Oct. 14, 2005 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of Edmond Boissonneau and Lumina Forgette, one of seven children, raised on Brown Street in Westbrook. He was a 1930 graduate of Westbrook High School. He was an U.S. Army veteran and very proud of his service. He joined the Army on July 12, 1943 and was discharged on Jan. 12, 1946. His battles and campaigns included Normandy, Rhineland, Central Europe and Northern France. He was in Battery D 128th Anti Aircraft Artillery G Battalion and served as a field lineman. Ray was employed at S.D. Warren for 39 years as foreman in various departments from 1933-1972. For nine years, he was employed by Brinks Security and traveled the state. For several years, Ray worked at Scarborough Downs and then at the Dog Track in Florida. He was past commander of the Stephen W. Manchester Post in Westbrook. He was an involved member of the Westbrook School Board and a three-term State Representative from Westbrook. Ray was a communicant of St. Mary's Church while he was a resident of Westbrook. He married his life-long dance partner, Charlotte May Kerr in 1941. They were married for 62 years. They resided in the Cumberland Mills section of Westbrook for 30 years after which they became snow birds traveling between Sebago Lake and Fort Myers Beach, Fla. They loved dancing and Ray was an avid card player. In Florida they enjoyed their friends The Dirty Dozen. Charlotte passed away in August 2003. He was predeceased by two brothers, Alphonse and Emile and a sister, Olivette. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Wolford and son-in-law Elmo Wolford of New Gloucester; sisters, Florette Abbott of Higgins Beach, Lorraine McIntosh of Little Sebago Lake and Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Lisa Wolford of Portland; grandson, Kirk Wolford and wife Aloka, great-granddaughters, Emily and Charlotte of Scituate, Mass.; nephew, Richard McIntosh and wife Shirley of Steep Falls; niece, Donna Cote of Augusta. Memorial service will be held at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, Church Street, Westbrook at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005.

Marie Brule' Garibaldi, a devoted mother of nine children and active volunteer in civic and Catholic organizations in New Orleans, LA, for many years, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2005 at 9:40 p.m. at Woodbury Senior Living Center, after being relocated to Minnesota due to Hurricane Katrina. She was 90. Mrs. Garibaldi graduated from Corpus Christi Grammar School and McDonogh 35 High School in New Orleans. Mrs. Garibaldi was the first African-American recipient of the Archdiocese of New Orleans' Regina Matrum (""Mother of the Year'') Award in 1969, an honor presented to a Catholic mother for the exemplary living of her faith through her dedication to her family, her Church, and her community. She was a very active member of St. Joan of Arc Church in New Orleans, where she was the Grand Lady of the Knights of St. Peter Claver at St. Joan of Arc Church in New Orleans, as well as a member of the Sodality and Altar Society. She was also president of St. Joan of Arc School's Parent Teachers Association and was chair of the Church's Bazaar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustin Garibaldi, a son, Augustin B. Garibaldi, and two of her daughters, Alfreda Garibaldi Leonetti and Agnes C. Garibaldi, both of whom taught in the St. Paul (MN) Public Schools since 1966 and 1969, respectively. Survivors include her daughter, Debra G. Shropshire of New Orleans, five sons: Arnold, Amadee and Alvin of New Orleans; Antoine of Erie, PA; and Christopher Garibaldi of Minneapolis, MN; two brothers, Manuel and Steven Brule'; a sister, Theresa Porter Burrell of Los Angeles, CA; daughters-in-law, Donna, Lynne, Betty, Carol, Leslie and Debra; sons-in-law, Alphonse Shropshire and Robert Leonetti, sisters-in-law Mary, Lena and Lillian Brule', 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. Edmund A. Caouette, age 96, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2005. He was born in Central Falls, RI. He retired as a fire captain from Central Falls Fire Department. Mr. Caouette was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL, the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Rose D. Caouette and several brothers and sisters. She was a longtime member of the board of the Poydras Home; founded and directed the Coterie Program at Valencia Club; directed the Ice Breakers program; and created Savoir Vivre, an etiquette course she taught for years. HEMET, Calif. - Dorothy Yvette Dulac Osso, 81, passed unexpectedly in Hemet, Calif., on Oct. 12, and her exuberant zest for life will be greatly missed.She was the daughter of Joseph and Amanda (Plante) Dulac. She had wonderful memories of growing up in Lewiston and summers at Nason's Beach. After graduating from Lewiston High School, she worked as a bookkeeper in her father's store, J. Dulac and Sons Plumbing and Hardware.She married and moved to Washington, D.C., where she utilized her education at St. Peter's and Cour Superieure (St. Dom's) and became an interpreter at the French Embassy. The family then moved to Richmond, Va., where she lovingly raised her two daughters while working as a bookkeeper. Afterward, she moved to California and worked in the entertainment industry for an accounting firm until her retirement.She remarried and lived an active life in Idyllwild, Calif. Throughout her life, she cherished her family and enjoyed outdoor activities, Maine lobsters, blueberries and maple syrup. She also enjoyed engaging one of her grandsons in French conversation.She is survived by her husband, Morrison Egbert; her daughters, Jeanne Osso and Annette Osso of Arlington, Va.; her sisters, Lucile Lachance of Auburn and Madeleine Loffredo of Mount Holly, N.J.; her brother, Jean-Paul Dulac of Chelmsford, Mass.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Bergeron; and a brother, Leo "Fern" Dulac, both of Lewiston.

SOUCY, FLORENCE E., 90, of the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street, and formerly of Capital Street, Pawtucket, died Friday at home. She was the wife of the late Albert Soucy. A lifelong resident of the city, she was born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Harmais and Eva (Brodeur) Galipeau.Prior to retiring in 1976 she had been employed as a seamstress for the Louis Mfg. Co., formerly of Pawtucket for 22 years. Pershing Joseph LaTour (P.J.), born June 20, 1918, in Ville Plate, and a longtime resident of Donaldsonville, LA, he died Friday, October 14, 2005 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was the former CEO and President of General Mud Services, Inc. A veteran of World War II, he was a French interpreter for the Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge and past president of Riverdale Golf Club. A lieutenant and captain in the Krewe of Louisiana, he escorted the queens at the Washington, DC Mardi Gras Ball for 15 years. P.J. was an accomplished Cajun musician having masterfully played the accordion and harmonica. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Polly, son and daughter-in-law George and June Dupre LaTour; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Freddy Tamayo; daughter, Janet (Boco) LaTour and son Billy LaTour, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Dill LaTour, Janel LaTour, Vernon Robin; siblings, Jack and Fay LaTour, Jerry and Reginald Keller, Delores and Dave Elston; grandchildren, Brandon and Julianne LaTour, Timothy and Cindy, Quincy Stewart, Jessie Fernando and Miguel Tamayo, Zack and Nina Robin and Ben, Seth, Katie and Julia LaTour; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Tucker, Leah, Braden, Alexander, Christopher, Savannah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marycarol R. LaFontaine, left to be with the Lord Oct. 12, 2005. Although Marycarol fought a constant battle with depression, her courage, grace, and compassion for others was felt by all her family and friends. Marycarol was born Sept. 19, 1957, in Royal Oak, Mich. Shortly after turning four years old, she moved to California with her mother, Marie, and her father, Vincent Nowak. Her father worked as a local candy vendor and Marycarol would often laugh about the times she would sneak a piece of candy from his truck. She always had a good sense of humor and a fun loving attitude. During her teenage years and her twenties, Marycarol was a tremendous athlete and avid racket-ball player. She played in many tournaments and would often boast about defeating some of the other cocky male players. "Nobody could return my corner serve," she would say. Marycarol enjoyed the work she did in banking and recreation services. On Nov. 8, 1980, at the age of 23, Marycarol married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Keith LaFontaine. They shared a unique bond and held a deep love for each other from the young age of 14. Marycarol and Keith completed each other in every way and created the perfect image of the perfect marriage. They share an eternal bond which will always express their undying love for each other. Marycarol was a great friend, compassionate wife, and a loving mother. Her compassion could be equaled by none and her love was endless. Marycarol is survived by her husband, Keith LaFontaine; son, Matthew LaFontaine; mother, Marie Nowak; sister, Beverly Webb; and brothers, Robert Nowak and Gary Nowak. He was born in Racine August 6, 1939, son of Albert and Ann (nee: DeFatte) Prudhom. Lawrence attended St. Catherine's High School. He was employed at J.I. Case Company for 22 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the J.I. Case 20-Year Club. His sense of humor and love of music will be missed by his family and friends. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.He is survived by two sons, Wayne Richard and Ed Richard Jr. of Houma; three daughters, June Fischer, Dot Marcel and Meryl Aycock, all of Houma; three sisters, Genievieve Chauvin, Laura Chauvin of Theriot and Wilma Chauvin of New Orleans; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Boquet Richard; his parents, James Richard and Lena Brunet Richard; one brother, Edgar Richard; and four sisters, Florence Landry, Felecie Rogers, Edna Steele and Beulah Salivo.He was a retired tool pusher with Kerr McGee, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Terrebonne Parish Library or your favorite charity.
