SOUTH HADLEY - Claire L. (Grimard) Hinnessey of Ludlow Rd. died Saturday October 8, 2005 in Wingate at South Hadley. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian Grimard. Claire was educated in St. Anne's in Malborough, H.B. Lawrence and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1941. She had worked as a nurse aide at the Holyoke Hospital. She was a past president of the Women's Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 3104. Claire is survived by her husband Edward, her children Edmar Yarde of Cudjoe, FL, Raymond of Granby, Rosalee Thomas of Chicopee and Christopher of South Hadley, also her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Ryder Funeral Home followed with burial in St. Rose Cemetery both in South Hadley. LEWISTON -- Pauline M. Pelletier, 73, of Main Street died on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.She was born in Falmouth on Dec. 14, 1931, the daughter of William and Ellen (Potter) Jensen.She was a lifetime member and treasurer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 Ladies Auxiliary in Lewiston. She had worked for Community Concepts in Auburn with the Food Pantry Program, in which she worked with the Good Shepherd Food Bank, helping to provide to local food banks; and also worked for the Volunteer Drivers Program, which provides transportation for the elderly in the area. Pauline enjoyed traveling and family, and had lived in Connecticut, California and Texas before returning to her birth state in 1987.She was predeceased by her husband, Saturn Pelletier of Greene, on Dec. 7, 2003. She is survived by four sons, William, Gerard, Luke and Peter Pelletier; a daughter, Mattie LaPan; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 607 Sabattus St., Lewiston.Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com

Gerard R. (Jerry) Nolin Sr., of Milford, beloved husband, of Clara Hughes Nolin, died on Saturday, October 8, 2005. Mr. Nolin was born in Bridgeport, on May 17, 1924, to the late Raymond and Florida Paquette Nolin, and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident prior to moving to Milford five years ago. He was retired from Enterprise Oldsmobile where he was employed for 10 years. Mr. Nolin was a World War II U.S. Army vetran. Survivors in addition to his wife, Clara; include a son, Gerard R. Nolin Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Milford; a daughter, Nancy Hawley and her husband, Robert, of Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Jeremy Nolin and Wendy Parker; a great-grandson, Brandon Parker; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Milford. Interment will be private. The Gregory F. Paul loved to shoot a game of pool as well as go dancing, and was always well dressed. He was straight to the point and always kept it real and will be missed by all who knew him. Ernie was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, the former Elizabeth “Betty” MacKenzie; sons, Bruce (Vanessa), Middleton; Gary, at home; grandchildren, Matthew, Jillian, Dartmouth, several nieces and nephews. WATERVILLE -- Alcide J. Bouchard, 93, died on Oct. 8, 2005, at Oak Grove nursing home.He was born in Winslow on May 27, 1912, a son of Henry and Denise (LeClair) Bouchard. Alcide was a member of Notre Dame Parish. In his younger years he enjoyed a career as an amateur boxer. During World War II, Alcide was stationed in Germany and France from 1941 to 1945 as a member of the Army. He worked for many years as a watchman at C.F. Hathaway Shirt Co., retiring in 1973. Alcide was predeceased by his loving wife, Sabina (Urbanovich) Bouchard; two brothers, Armand and Alphie Bouchard; and two sisters, Alma Carter and Agnes Charland. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Poissonnier of Augusta and Joan Gagne of Waterville; six grandchildren, Kim, Linwood, Tammy, Rodney, Carol and Sherry; eight great-grandchildren, Jazmin Rodrigue, Taylor and Logan Poissonnier, MyKayla and Michael Gogan, and Nicole, Cameron and Katelyn Gagne; a sister-in-law, Mary Hapworth of Waterville; and several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. She was united in marriage December 7, 1937 to Clifford C. Guerin. She retired from AC Spark Plug Division and was a life long resident of Flint and Burton. CeliaBelle attended Flint First Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed fellowship with family and friends. Her most pleasurable moments included spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also cherished Friday morning get-togethers with close friends for breakfast and shopping. CeliaBelle leaves to treasure her memory: daughter Linda (Gene) Berry; grandchildren Renee Watson, Lesa Huston, Krista (Rob) Garceau, Nikki Berry, Jason (Meredith) Berry, Bruce (Joelle) Jordan and Brian (Amanda) Jordan. She was known affectionately as G.G. by her great-grandchildren; Anne Huston, Courtney and Caitlyn Garceau, MacKenzie, Carly and Claire Jordan. CeliaBelle also leaves special friend Geraldine McIvor and faithful canine companion, Scooter. Mr. Frederick James Berry July 15, 1922 - October 06, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mr. Frederick James Berry, aged 83 years, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side. Frederick was born on July 15, 1922 in Fort William, Ontario, the son of William and Johanna Berry. On August 21, 1946 he married the former Mona Taylor in Fort William, Ontario. Frederick worked at Can Car for several years and later at Kam Lumber. He acquired his Stationary Engineers ticket and worked for the Lakehead Board of Education, retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #82 for 65 years. As a youth, he enjoyed fishing at Silver Lake with his Uncle Jack. He enjoyed spending time with family at One Island Lake and Hawkeye Lake, dancing, music, gardening, reminiscing and telling tall tales, as he was known for his quick wit and humour. Fred also enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and the Montreal Canadiens. Survived by his wife of 59 years Mona (Taylor); sons Glenn and Gregg; daughter Lauren (Richard) Samas of Kenora; grandsons Ryan, Jeremy, Gregory Samas of Kenora and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents William and Johanna Berry; brother William (Margaret) of Abbotsford; sisters Edna Bishop (Allan) and June Godfrey (Syd). Fontenot, Percy J. "Paw Paw" "Dub" Paw Paw was born April 29, 1923, in Mamou. He was extremely proud of his Cajun heritage. He would often proudly express it by his made-up Cajun songs and dances he so readily shared with everyone (and taught his great-grandkids). He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy as a seaman gunner. Fighting for the freedom of his country was an honor he strongly believed in until the day he died. "Dub," as his many friends and co-workers called him, retired from BASF Wyandotte in December 1991 after more than 30 years of service. Paw Paw is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three "honorary" grandchildren and an "honorary" great-granddaughter. Our only consolation is knowing that Daddy is now with his one true love, Minnie, who has been with the angels since Jan. 13, 2002. Now you can truly rest in peace, Daddy. His surviving children are his daughter, Sandie F., and son-in-law, Freddy Tablada; son, Gary, and daughter-in-law, Pam Fontenot; and other daughter, Donna D. Fontenot and lifetime partner Jackie Briest. His surviving grandchildren are Jason T. Burns and wife Tracy, Jeremy N. Burns and wife Julie, Amber F. and husband Steve Kaesbauer, Erin F. and husband Lance King, and Spencer Fontenot Brewer. His surviving great-grandchildren are Landon T. and Madison J. Mr. William "Bill" Joseph Plexman April 17, 1938 - October 07, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mr. William Joseph Plexman, age 67, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital with his wife of 41 years, Gerarda, by his side. Bill was born in Sudbury on April 17, 1938. His family then moved to the Burlington area where he spent the bulk of his youth. Hockey and football played a big part in his younger years and he made many lifelong friends. On February 1, 1964 he married Gerarda Perusse and after a few years in North Bay they decided to make Thunder Bay their home. Bill was a very talented man, a true jack-of-all trades. He loved woodworking and was always up to take on any challenge. Neighborhood children would often knock on the door and ask him to fix a bike or help with a broken toy. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Bill was a proud member of Teamsters Local 938 and in the years past served as its president. He took particular pride in his duties as chief union steward for the pipeline construction division. He represented his fellow union brothers with fairness but often said the company deserved a fair shake too. From hauling heavy equipment on tractor-Trailer to operating a crane and in his early years, a pilot, he had great hand/eye coordination and had the tickets in his wallet to prove it. He often said he hated driving big rigs but deep down we knew better, he loved pipeline work, the friends he made and the special bond that only pipeliners feel. Family gatherings and visiting with friends were probably his greatest passion. Family dinners were always a day-long affair, with our Dad hovering over the stove following no particular recipe and generally getting in the way of the real cook, our mother. When family and friends needed a place to stay, the door was always open and the coffee pot full. Out of all his accomplishments he was most proud of his family. One of his favorite sayings was “I wouldn’t pay 5 cents to have anymore kids but I wouldn’t take a million dollars for the ones I got.” Quick witted, he seemed to have a line for almost any occasion. He still referred to our Mom as his “the bride” and he loved her dearly. We all agree that in the past few years our Dad took on a softness and a gentleness that was readily apparent to those close to him. We like to think that age takes the edge off a person but we feel it was the arrival of his granddaughter, McKenna, which brought out this kindness. Even from his hospital bed he still managed to give her a smile and a wave. We are grateful he had a chance to be a grandpa. Our many family pets all received lots of love and affection from Dad. He had a special kinship with dogs and they seemed to follow him everywhere. His latest dog “Louie” was no exception; he was by Dad’s side constantly. Bill will be sadly missed by his wife Gerarda, children Michael (Sheri), Danny, Laura, and granddaughter, McKenna. Also survived by brother James (Doris), sisters Emma Ferris (Mike), Connie Stercho (Steve) and Lois. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Oliva (Eva), sister Elsie and Infant son Derek Joel. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday October 13, 2005 at Jenkens Funeral Home 226 S. Syndicate Ave. Donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Blanchard, Irene M. -- October 6, 2005 Irene M. Blanchard, of Hannibal, died Thursday at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton. Born in Fulton, she was a life resident of Hannibal. Irene was employed for 41 years by Hannibal Central Schools and recently volunteered as an attendance officer at Fairley Elementary School. Irene was a lifelong member of Hannibal United Methodist Church and was organist for 57 years. She also was an officer for United Methodist Women and was a lay member of the Annual North Central New York Conference. Irene and her husband were co-founders of the American Field Service in Hannibal. She was a member of the Hannibal Historical Society, RSVP Program, Order of the Eastern Star and one of the founders of the Hannibal Free Library. She was also a member of the Hannibal Hens Club for over 50 years. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Harold "Pete" Blanchard, in 1983; a grandson, Leslie Ritton; and a great-grandson, Mason Ritton. Surviving: a daughter, Shirley Ritton of Vancouver, WA; two sons, Carlton (Barbara) Blanchard of Syracuse and Wendell (Barbara) Blanchard of Hannibal; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. ROBITAILLE, MARCIA S. (SAFFORD), age 79, of Cranston, passed away Oct. 6, 2005 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. She was the wife of Donald E. Robitaille. Marcia and Don were married for 54 years. Born in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Doris Safford and sister of the late Ernest Safford, Jr.Mrs. Robitaille was a bookkeeper for Donald Prout and Associates, retiring in 1987. She was also a member of the Providence Christadelphian Ecclesia.Besides her husband she is survived by, her children, Susan Tuttle, of Jamestown, RI, Janet Hagman, of Dracut, MA, and Mark Robitaille, of Plantation, FL and their spouses. GROTON -- June K. Chaisson, 65, a Groton resident who was a former owner of a local airport service, died yesterday morning, Oct. 8, at Emerson Hospital in Concord after a battle with cancer. She was the wife of John J. Chaisson, who died July 27, 1994.She was born in Bristol, Conn., March 18, 1940, daughter of the late Herbert F. and Ethel C. (Lord) Hanley. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph's Academy for Girls in West Hartford, Conn.Mrs. Chaisson formerly owned and operated Affordable Airport Service of Westford. In her earlier years, she was employed with Marinel Bus Co., of North Chelmsford.She was a wonderful artist, according to family members. She is also remembered by family members for being a devoted mother and grandmother, and who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Sammy.She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Kenneth Shields of N. Chelmsford, Christina and John Burke of Hudson, N.H., Cindy and Colin Kennedy, and Amy Chaisson, all of Pepperell; a son, John J. Chaisson and his fiancée, Krysten Diefendorf, both of Hudson, N.H.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Robert Hall of S. Moreau, Jack A. Saline, MI Age 78, died Friday, October 7, 2005 at the St. Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 8, 1927 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, the son of Edward and Margaret (Patterson) Moreau. He had been a Saline resident since 1970. On November 26, 1968 in Brighton, MI he married Susan Spears and she survives. Jack had been a member of the Canadian Army and had been self-employed as a steel broker for many years. He continued his employment at Ford Motor Company for over 23 years in Quality Control until his retire ment in 1993. Survivors include his wife Susan P. Moreau of Saline, MI; one daughter, Summer Anne (Doug) Franklin of Temecula, CA. Other survivors include two grand- children, MacKenzie and Hannah Franklin . A Memorial Service Of The Christian Burial will be held at the ROBISON- BAHNMILLER FUNERAL HOME Saline, Michigan on Monday October 10, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Fr. William J. VERNIER NANCY C, 70, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2005, in Holland MI, following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Theodore L. Vernier. As a hospice volunteer for 18 years, Nancy touched many lives. She stitched hundreds of quilts and knitted sweaters for newborns which were donated to local hospitals in the Grosse Pointe area. There was no craft that Nancy couldn't do with detailed perfection. Her many talents were shared with family and friends throughout her life. Nancy will be remembered by her five children; Tony Vernier (Betty), Colleen Hoover (David), Denise Riggs (Robert), Ted Vernier (Kris) and Nancy Neutgens (Kurt); 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; her sisters, Agnes Ayotte, Patricia Scieszka, Mary Lou Rowlett, Rae Leece, and brother John Roche; and treasured friends. ROY, OVIDE ARCHILLE "Rex" Dec. 26, 1904 to Oct. 2, 2005 Ovide Archille "Rex" Roy, 100, retired local barber, died at Grossmont Gardens in La Mesa on October 2, 2005. He was born in Black Lake, Quebec, Canada, and lived in Holyoke, Massachusetts, from 1906 to 1926, where he was a basketball star. He served in the Fourth Regiment of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1926 to 1941, where he was an outstanding sharpshooter. He spent two years in combat in Nicaragua, and then served three years in China, where he sailed up the Yangtze River in a gunboat and was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps basketball team. He joined the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, serving on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Tankanis Bay in the Pacific. He made San Diego his home since 1936, residing in the Burlingame section of San Diego from 1948 to 2004. He was co-owner of The Burlingame Barber Shop from 1939 to 1965. In 1937 he married Elsie Andersen, a librarian at San Diego State College, who passed away in 1976. Rex was a natural athlete. He was a semifinalist in San Diego's Yellowtail Derby several times and went to a gym regularly until he was 97 years of age. He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Kooperman of San Diego. WATERVLIET, NY -- Jacqueline F. Vincent Passaretti, 72, of the Daniel P. Quinn Apts., died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 8, 2005 at her home. Born in Whitehall, N.Y. on August 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Rondeau Vincent. Mrs. Passaretti was a resident of Watervliet for most of her life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to raising her three daughters and making sure she attended all the school and sporting events of her six grandchildren. She enjoyed Sunday afternoon dinners at her sister Jean's home, gathering with her sisters and nieces and nephews. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and ceramics. While her girls were growing up, she was active in the School 3 PTA, the Home Bureau and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and formerly of the Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. She was the beloved wife of 38 years of the late Peter J. Passaretti, who died April 27, 1991; devoted mother of Patti Passaretti of Watervliet, Donna (Joe) Green of Latham and Janice (Dan) Meyer of Watervliet; adored grandmother of Ryan (Amy Plummer) Yanni, Vincent (Emily Lyons) Yanni, Christi (Chris Joos) Green, Jenamarie (Dan Fedullo) Green, Rachel Meyer and Natalie Meyer; loving sister of Dorothy Belonga, Jean (Gerald) Legault and Sandy (Joe) Flanigan, all of Watervliet, and the late William Vincent and Richard Vincent. Also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid's Church, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father L. Edward Deimeke. GAUDETTE, Russell Dehan "Dean" - was born August 5, 1923 and passed away October 6, 2005 with his loving family by his side. Dean was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. His parents, Bill and Helen Gaudette, preceded him in death along with his sister, Terry Lemma. Dean graduated from Harding High School in St. Paul. He attended the University of Minnesota, but left to join the Navy in WWII. He served in England and on Saipan. He completed the V12 program at Marquette University. After the war, he attended San Francisco State University, where he received his BA and MA in Education. He began teaching and later became a principal. He met his wife, Nancy, and they eventually re located to Spokane. He was a principal for School District 81 and finished his Doctorate degree at Washington State University. After receiving his Doctorate, he began working at Eastern Washington University as a professor and director of the Campus Laboratory School. He was chairman of the Faculty Senate and chairman of the Education Department. He eventually became the Dean of the School of Human Learning and Development until his retirement. Dean was filled with adventure and lived life to the fullest while touching the lives of everyone he met. Dean enjoyed hunting with Britt river rafting, golfing, flying, hiking, cycling, dancing, woodworking, sailing, and rowing his shell. He was an avid skier and was a member of the ski patrol at 49 Degrees North. He was very active with his church and served as an elder prior to his death. He believed education enhanced our lives and he was always learning, teaching and helping others. His caring for others even took him to Honduras on a Peace Corps Mission working as a volunteer. He also enjoyed volunteering for local nursing homes, Habitat for Humanity, the Valley Food Bank and the zoo. Dean was also a past board member of SAREA and past president of Knife and Fork. He and his wife, Nancy, traveled extensively upon her retirement, but hisfavorite times were spent at the family's lake cabin he built on Lake Coeur d' Alene. It was a time of love and fun activities with family and friends. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Nancy; his children and their spouses: Mark and Tara Gaudette of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jane and Steve Durant of Salt Lake City, Utah, Tammy and Andrew Hovren of Spokane WA. His grandchildren: Marky, Janise, Michael, Marie, Miller, Matthew, Steven, Alison, David, Michael, Robbie, Leah, Lonnie, Alexea and Madison; and his great-grandchildren: Abi, Tyler and Gabriella. Dean was also blessed with special nieces, nephews and extended family: John and Tanya Lemma, Nan Lem-ma, Brian and Diane Danielson, Anita Daniel-son; and sister-in-law, Alice Danielson. He had a wonderful sense of humor, generous heart and infectious smile. His wit and humor will be sorely missed, but not forgotten.
