BUTLER, Allan Hawkins. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on October 2, 2005 at the age of eighty-one, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late Allan M. Butler and Gertrude May Hawkins. Beloved husband of Helen (Robertson) for fifty years. Cherished father of Jane (Michael Donovan) and the late Allan James. Much loved Grandad of Kayleigh and Matthew Donovan. He leaves to mourn his brother David (Mary Gidney) and sister Carolyn (Warren Jennings). Predeceased by his brother Arthur. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. A graduate of Dalhousie Law School, he worked for Price Waterhouse as a tax specialist for thirty-two years. Always involved in the West Island, he was a member of the PSBGM for twenty-four years and was chairman for its last seventeen (1981-1998), during one of the school board's most turbulent times. DIAMOND, Ellie (Nee Belbin). Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2005 in the C.H.S.L.D. Bussey at the age of ninety years. Beloved wife of the late Mr. George Diamond. Surviving are her loving family, her daughters, Nora (Tony), May (Bill), Elizabeth, Margaret, her son, David (Lynn), twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and one unborn great-great grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother, Hedley, Agnes (Leo) and Lucy, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and her close friend, Sue Wright. She was predeceased by her daughter Ruth. HORNE, Robert Matheson - Suddenly at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital on Friday September 30th, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Beloved and cherished husband for the past 53 years of Joan (Clarke). Proud loving father of Robert, David and Janet Finlay (Andrew), grandfather of Rochelle, Rosalind, Jacqueline, Duncan, Ian, Graham, Morgan, Megan and Elizabeth, and great-grandfather of Aidan. Predeceased by his parents Myrtle and Russell Horne and his brother Donald, he will also be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Pat. A life member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Bob worked in private practice for many years, then joined the firm of BDO, from which he retired. Dedicated to his family and his community, he was a Past President of both the North Bay and West Ferris Lions Clubs, a founding member of the West Ferris Community Centre Board, and had the privilege of serving as the first Commodore of the North Bay Canoe Club. A faithful member, for the past 48 years, of St. John's Anglican Church. Bob served on many church committees, giving freely of his time and talents. An avid golfer he will be remembered by many as a member of the Pinewood Park Seniors Golf Club. BEAUREGARD, RAYMOND F. JR. "RAY," 65, of Treasure Island, died Thursday (Sept. 29, 2005) at home. He was born in Lowell, Mass., and moved here in 1980 from Derry, N.H. He was an accountant. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of VFW Post 9252 and was senior vice commander of American Legion Post 158. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and hunting. Survivors include a son, Raymond F. III, Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Pamela Stackpile, Wilton, N.H., and Sandra Beauregard, Nashua; a sister, Arlene F. Roger E. Berche, 72, of Westport died Sunday, October 2, 2005 in Beth Israel Hospital, Boston. He was the husband of Janice M. (Maciel) Berche.Born December 1, 1932 the son of the late Alma (Lague) and Roger E. Berche, Sr., he lived in New Bedford for most of his life and Westport for the past four years. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, New Bedford.Mr. Berche graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in New Bedford. He was a plant manager for Rodney Printing and later Alden Corrigated. He also worked for Bates Townsend then St. Joe’s Containers in Delaware. He most recently worked for Toyota of North Dartmouth. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxillary and he enjoyed fishing. He was an avid bowler. He is survived by his widow; three sons, Robert D. Berche of New Bedford, John J. Berche of New Bedford, and Roger E. Berche and his wife Lisa of Tiverton, RI; four daughters, Christine J. Berche of New Bedford, Joanne M. Berche of New Bedford, Patricia E. Gendron and her husband David of Wareham, Karen G. Silvia and her husband George of Westport; two brothers, Rober J. Berche and his wife Claire of New Bedford and Paul Berche of Fairhaven; a sister, Diane Berche of Acushnet; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. AGAWAM- Leo "Bush" J. Boucher, Sr., 58, a 27 year Agawam resident passed away on Sunday October 2, 2005 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Lebanon, NH on January 12, 1947 the son of the late Joseph L. and Priscilla (Ingalls) Boucher. Leo was a police officer for 32 years for the City of Springfield retiring in 2002, and was a member of the IBPO. He attended Springfield schools and graduated from the Former Springfield Trade High School and received his Associates Degree from Springfield Technical Community College in science and law enforcement. Leo was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was an avid bowler, and was a member and secretary for 20 years of the Blue Monday Bowling League, and also served as the awards chairman for the MTCBA, and also enjoyed playing Keno (Keno Cop). Leo loved bowling, but his true love was spending time with his grandchildren. Leo was predeceased by his wife, Sandra L. (Robichaud) Boucher on November 17, 2003. He is survived by his children; Dyan L. Drew and her husband Brian of Woonsocket, RI, Leo J. Boucher, Jr. of Westfield, Alan L. Boucher and his wife Lisa of Feeding Hills and Chad S. Boucher of Agawam, and two cherished grandchildren; Nicholas A. and Jacob B. Boucher, both of Agawam. SOUTHAMPTON - Dorothy B. Frary, 71, a longtime resident of Southampton, died September 30 at Mercy Hospital. Born April 2, 1934 in Easthampton, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Pauline (Bannister) Bourgault. She attended Easthampton schools and received a degree in history from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Mrs. Frary was children's librarian and later director of Edwards Public Library in Southampton and was instrumental in the building of a new library in 1996. She retired in 2001 after 28 years of service. Mrs. Frary was elected to the town's Board of Library Trustees, Park Commission, Board of Almoners and Community Preservation Commission. She was also a long-standing member of the Southampton Women's Club, Historical Society, Old Home Day Committee and the Western Massachusetts Library Association. In 1993, she received the American Legion's Outstanding Citizen Award in recognition of her many years of service to the community. The Southampton Historical Commission honored her with their Historic Preservation Award in 1999. Mrs. Frary was a lifelong member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Easthampton. A daughter, Laura Canning, predeceased her in 1983. PITTSFIELD -- Robert Adolph Choiniere, 86, of 14 Dodge Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on June 7, 1919, son of Henry and Rose Aubin Choiniere, he was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. A veteran of World War II, he served for five years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Choiniere was a laboratory technician with GE for 33 years, retiring in 1980. In earlier years he was a counselor at Camp Russell. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs, and the GE Athletic Association. He played basketball at the Boys' Club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He and his wife, the former Madeline Keegan, would've celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Nov. 28. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Gary L. Choiniere of Pittsfield, Robert E. Choiniere of North Port, Fla., Thomas Choiniere of Falcon, Mo., and Paul Choiniere of Livermore, Calif.; two daughters, Anne Cook of Pittsfield and Jean McMahon of Lee; a sister, Emily Porter of Pittsfield; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. SPRINGFIELD - Dorothy M. "Dot" (Desrosiers) Lucius, 78, of Springfield, died peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the Mary Lyon Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Hampden. She was born in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield on March 17, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Fred and Loretta (Daigle) Desrosiers. She graduated with honors from Classical High School in Springfield, and worked as a secretary for many years. Dorothy loved gardening, cooking, reading and taking care of her family. She is survived by her much loved husband of 55 years, Richard Lucius of Springfield; and three daughters, Anne Farrington and her husband Robert of Belchertown, Elizabeth Ciotti and her husband Ronald of Enfield, NH, and Lynne DePaulo and her husband Stephen of Wallingford, CT. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Bobby, Caitlyn, Geoffrey, Meghan, Gina, Kelly and Nicky. She is also survived by her brother, George Desrosiers and his wife Mary Lee of Columbia, SC; and her wonderful, devoted cousin, Clara Desotelle of Agawam, who was like a sister to her. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Abby. Dorothy will be remembered for her quiet intelligence and for her wonderful devotion to her family. There are no visiting hours and burial services will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. James E. Goodreau Age 83, of Ellensburg, passed away on September 29, 2005. He was born on November 6, 1921 in Great Falls, Montana. Jim's early years were spent on a ranch surrounded by the mountains he so loved. He proudly served his country during WWII as a pharmacist's mate in the US Navy and as an Airman First Class in the US Air Force during the Korean War. In 1975, Jim retired from the Tacoma Fire Department as a Chief's Aide after 26 years of service. Jim's love of the outdoors, horses, and hunting brought he and his wife Peggy to central Washington. He was a proud member and piper with Tacoma's Clan Gordon Pipe Band for nearly 45 years. Jim is survived by his loving children: James G., Michael, Abigail and Troy, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow Tacoma firefighters, the Clan Gordon and by all those who were lucky enough to have known him. Marjorie (McCann) Bergeron, 83, of Plainville died Sunday (October 2, 2005). She was the wife of the late Albert Bergeron. Born Dec. 31, 1922 to Herbert and Bessie (Shellington) McCann, she lived in Plainville most of her life. Marjorie was a member of United Methodist Church, Plainville. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a lover of birds and animals and fed the squirrels and birds in her backyard every day for over 40 years. Her love of animals was shown through the regular contributions to the Connecticut Humane Society, which was her favorite charity. MEREDITH — Y. "Guy" Richard, 60, of Cattle Landing Road, died suddenly Oct. 2, 2005, at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia.He was born in Canada and moved to New Hampshire as a teenager. He lived in Salem with his wife, Pamela, for 20 years. MIDDLEBURY — Roger H. Rheaume, 93, of Middlebury, passed away at Shard Villa Residential Care Home in Salisbury, Vermont, on Thursday, September 29, 2005. He was born in Newport, Vermont, on December 28, 1911. He was the son of Oliver Rheaume and Alice (LaNoue) Rheaume. In 1941, he married Simone Mary Quesnel.Roger was formerly a member of the Vermont National Guard and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Roger worked on his brother's farm as a young man and as a master mechanic at Foster Motors. Later he built, owned and operated Rheaume's Flying A gas station on Route 7 south of Middlebury, and he retired from the custodial department at Middlebury College in 1977.There are many things that Roger will be remembered for: most importantly, the love for his family; his keen interest in hockey; and attending the many sporting events his grandchildren participated in. He was an incredibly hard-working man, and a man of great strength and persistence. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.Roger was predeceased by his wife, Simone; his brother, Marcel; and his sister, Helen. He is survived by his two children, Joanne Leggett and her husband Robert Leggett, and Richard Rheaume and his wife Sherry Delphia Rheaume; four grandchildren, Jody and William Leggett, and Chad and Megan Rheaume; two sisters, Julianne Bowden of Whiting, N.Y., and Genevieve Giancola and her husband John of Medford, N.Y.; and his brother, Paul, of Portland, Maine; as well as several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held at Sanderson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 2, today, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, people consider making donations to Elderly Services of Middlebury, Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association, or Shard Villa Residential Care Home in Salisbury, Vermont, in memory of Roger.

Mr. Richard, the son of the late Eugene Richard and the former Carolyn Leger, was a native of Richard, and was a resident of Lafayette. He was a member of the Teamsters for 35 years, a member of the National Guard, and also served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Sue Tibbets Richard of Lafayette; sons, Tony J. Richard and wife Kelly of Carencro, and Billy Richard and wife Andrea of Oberlin; daughters, Carol Butcher and husband Mark of Jarreau, and Kim Knecht and husband Don of Lafayette; grandchildren, Joshua Richard, Matthew Richard, Elizabeth Richard, Katie Butcher, Sara Richard, Jordan Knecht, Hannah Knecht and Mykah Knecht; a great-grandchild, Morgan Richard; sister, Wilma Doucet of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, April Richard; grandson, Zachary Knecht; and a brother, Wesley Sonnier. WEST SPRINGFIELD- Madonna M. (Riendeau) Gorman, 75, of Westfield Street died Monday at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in agawam. She was born on Jan. 23rd, 1930, the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice Riendeau. She was employed for over 30 years as a kindergarden teacher in the Westfield School System. She retired in 1992. She was born in Terryville, CT, brought up and educated in Holyoke, and has lived most of her life in West Springfield. She graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Grammar School, Holyoke High School, and Westfield State Teachers' College. She later attended Fordham University. She was a member of the Mass. Teachers' Association, NEA - National Education Association, and was a member and President of the Westfield Teachers' Association for 3 consecutive terms. Madonna was also a communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to Cornelius F. Gorman, loving mother of Cornelius F. Gorman, Jr. of Chicago, and Madonna A. Trotter and her husband Raymond of West Spfld., caring sister of Theodora LeMaire of Worthington and Beatrice Smolen of Holyoke, and devoted grandmother of Cornelius F. Gorman, III, Thomas D. Gorman, Mark J. Stone, Autumn A. Stone and George Stone. The funeral will be Thurs. 9 a.m. at Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Spfld., followed at 10 a.m. by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church. PLANTERSVILLE, TX— Laura Eva (Rossi) Belair, 73 of Plantersville, TX, formerly resided in Worcester, MA died Sept. 23 in Grimes St. Joseph Hospital after a 2 year battle with cancer. She leaves two daughters, Susan Blackmon of Plantersville, TX and Patricia Zwicker of Worcester, 2 sons, Thomas Belair of Worcester and Michael Belair of Plantersville, TX. Her husband Robert Belair and daughter Lorraine Chavez predeceased her. She leaves two sisters, Roberta Cioci of Barre and Theresa Kemp of Oxford, several nieces and nephews and 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was born in Oakham daughter of Joseph Rossi and Alexina (LaBonte) Rossi. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade High School for girls Worcester in 1950. She worked for Home Staff in Worcester as a CNA for many years. A private service was held in Texas and she will be buried with her husband at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA in the spring and a memorial service will be held at that time with all her other family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.

CHICOPEE - Fernand E. "Fern" St. Sauveur, 79, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 1, 2005 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Holyoke on February 23, 1926, a beloved son of the late Jean Baptiste and Leona (Desmarais) St. Sauveur and moved to Aldenville in 1950. He was one of 14 children and was predeceased by his 13 brothers and sisters. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Fireman 1st Class. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, the American Theater Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was last employed as a master electrician for the Digital Corporation in Westfield and retired in 1992. He was a communicant of Saint Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He was a life member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337. He was predeceased by his loving son, John A. St. Sauveur who was Called Home on May 12, 1972 and his loving daughter, Aileen T. St. Sauveur who was Called Home on September 4, 1993. He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Vivian I. (Bibeau) St. Sauveur. They were married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Holyoke on July 21, 1945. His loving children, Alida L. Senosk and her husband John of the Gilbertville section of Hard-wick and Ralph A. St. Sauveur and his wife Lisa of South Hadley. His nine cherished grandchildren including Krystal St. Sauveur who lived with them and his many dear nephews and nieces. His funeral will be held Thursday morning, October 6, 2005 at 9:15 a.m. from the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street at the junction of Grattan Street in Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street in Aldenville. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery on Olsen Street in Aldenville. His family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Rose Chapel on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home off of Lafayette Street. NEWPORT - Helen T. Melanson, 88, died Oct. 2, 2005, at the home of her sister after a long illness. She was born March 4, 1917, in Newport, the daughter of Guy R. and Mable Prescott Tardy. She was educated in Newport Schools and was a graduate of Newport High School, Class of 1937. Helen was a textile worker for many years working at Moosehead Woolen Mill, Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna, and Wrights Woolen Mill in Pittsfield. Helen was an active and devoted Member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 105 in Newport where she was a past president and was granted an honorary membership for her work. She married Ernest Melanson in 1954 and he predeceased her June 9, 1997. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond Tardy and Elden Tardy, both of Newport; three sisters, Mary Brewer of Corinna, Maude Smith of Newport and Janace Wesley of Lakeland, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
