FONTAINE, Evelyn "PeeWee" (nee Taylor) Passed away Monday, March 28, 2005 at Hotel Dieu Hospital, at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of the late Robert (1985). Dear mother of Marilyn Fontaine of Windsor, Robert Fontaine of Inuvik N.W.T., Gary Fontaine of Windsor, David and Tracey Fontaine, of Golden B.C., and the late Gregory. Dear Grandma of Tim, Dan, Raelyn, Erin and "Sunnie", and great grandmother of Jayden and Hailey. Pre-deceased by many brothers and sisters. Mrs. Fontaine was a longtime employee of both Windsor Regional Hospital-Metropolitan Campus , and Hiram Walker's. Visiting at the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home 1700 Tecumseh Rd. GILMOUR, Malvena C. (Allan) Born December 4, 1909 in Walsall, England. Passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Malden Park Continuing Care Centre with her loving family at her side. Predeceased by dear husband Kenneth (1995), daughter Ruby Steer (1997), and her sister Cora Jones (1991). She is survived by her daughter, Peggy and husband Leo Gallant. She is Nana to Pamela and husband Darl Gaudette, Barry and wife Melanie Gallant, Debbie and husband Lorne Simms, Linda and husband Jim Arnold, Michael and wife Alison Steer. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Having worked hard all her life she retired at age 65 from Canadian Motor Lamp. Malvena enjoyed the finer things in life and often would share her knowledge in many engaging conversations. She had a great love for animals. She will be missed by those who share memories of her life. If you so desire, donations to Malden Park Continuing Care Centre would be appreciated by the family. LOGAN, Geraldine - With great personal dignity, Geraldine Logan was peacefully called to the Lord on March 16, 2005 at her home in Ottawa. Born and raised in Peterborough, she was the eldest child and beloved daughter of the late Albert Edward McCallum and the late Georgina Thibault. As well as her seven sisters and brothers, Hazel, Anne, Mary, Dorothy, Robert, Leo and Henry, she was predeceased by her husband, George (Scotty) Logan. She was a devoted mother to her children, James Wilson, Ronald Albert and Karen Dale. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Peterborough at the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 31, 2005, with internment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. JOSEPH ‘MURRAY’ DONNELLY Murray Donnelly, of 824 Sixth St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital on Friday, March 25, 2005. He was born Nov. 27, 1922 in Roleau, Sask. to the late Frank and Agnes Donnelly. At the age of two, the Donnelly family moved to Fort Frances. In 1942, Murray joined the R.C.A.F. and during his overseas stint made 47 operational flights over Europe in close support of the advancing armies of the Allies. He was a wireless air gunner on Mitchell B-25 Bombers, Squadron 226. He also was the gunnery leader for Wing 137 and, at the end of hostilities in 1945, was discharged with the rank of Flying Officer. In addition to being a veteran of W.W.II, Murray was a 30-year veteran of the Land Registration system in Ontario. He was appointed as Local Master of Titles for the Rainy River District Office in 1957, where he worked for 19 years, and later transferred to the Thunder Bay Registry Office, serving another 11 years until his retirement in November, 1987. For enjoyment, Murray loved travelling, golfing, carpentry, and gardening. He also was an avid sports enthusiast and a great trivia buff. He devoted his life to his wife, Irene, and their three children. He was very proud of his children/grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Murray is survived by Irene Donnelly, his wife of 50 years; daughter, Maureen (Mark) of Fort Frances, Ont.; two sons, Mel (Janine) of Minneapolis, Mn., and Brian (Louise) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and four grandchildren, Candice and Christin Thomson, and Lauren and Taylor Donnelly. He also is survived by numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Frank in 1929; brother, Capt. Mel Donnelly in 1945; and mother, Agnes in 1973. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Fr. Tom Meyers will officiate, with interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Pallbearers will be Eivend Haugo, Arnold Brown, Wilf Sanders, Rudy Hutka, Robert Ward, and Sid Ward. Should family and friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the charity of their choice.

ARMSTRONG, William Thomas Died of pneumonia on Friday, March 25, 2005 at Toronto Western Hospital. He leaves his wife Margaret, children Andrew and Jessica, his son-in-law Mark and his granddaughter Alison. Predeceased by his daughter Alison (1992). Bill joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Ottawa in 1957. He moved to Toronto in 1975 as Managing Director of Radio. While he was Managing Director he set out to improve the quality and quantity of music and theatre on the second radio network (FM). In 1981 he left the CBC to become the first General Manager of Roy Thompson Hall. He moved back to the CBC in 1983 to become Executive Vice-President to the President Pierre Juneau. When Mr. Juneau retired Bill served as interim President until Gerard Veilleux's term began. Bill then went to the Ontario Region and retired in 1992. In Ottawa he was Organist and Choirmaster of St. Matthias Church. Visitation will be at the Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Toronto, on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment of his ashes will be at Wakefield, Quebec at a later date. LOGAN, Geraldine With great personal dignity, Geraldine Logan was peacefully called to the Lord on March 16, 2005 at her home in Ottawa. MANSBRIDGE, Stanley Harry It is with deep love, respect and enormous sadness that the family of Stanley Harry Mansbridge announces that he died peacefully in his 87th year on Easter Sunday, March 27th, 2005 in London, Ontario. Wing Commander Mansbridge, RAF, D.F.C. was born in Folkestone, England on May 29th, 1918, the son of Harry Mansbridge (Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry) and Alice (Taylor) Mansbridge. He was the last of his immediate family, predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Mr. Mansbridge passionately believed in public service, and served with distinction the Royal Air Force (1939-1946) the Governments of Great Britain and Malaya (1946-1954), the Government of Canada (1954-1976), the Government of Alberta (1976-1981) and the University of Victoria (1981-1986). Mr Mansbridge is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-one wonderful years, Brenda Louise. The cherished father of Wendy, Peter and Paul and father-in-law of Douglas Gunn, Cynthia Dale and Susan Mansbridge. The much admired grandfather of Jennifer Mansbridge, Lisa Gunn, David Gunn, Pamela Mansbridge, Andrew Gunn, Wendy Mansbridge, Christopher Mansbridge, Thomas Mansbridge and William Mansbridge; and the great-grandfather of Alexandra Gunn and Honor Mansbridge Hinchey. SWEENY, Thomas Gray, ACIS, CFA, EA. At home, after a short courageous battle with lung cancer, on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in his eighty-seventh year, beloved husband of Ella Forster and the late Joan Walsh. Born October 20th, 1918, son of the late Charles Joseph Sweeny and of the late Mary Gray. Predeceased by his elder brother Charles. Married to Joan Walsh in 1948, he was the dear and supportive father of James (the Venerable Heather Thomson) and Robert (Elizabeth-Anne Malischewski). Loving grandfather of Claire, Mary, Bridget, Charlotte-Anne, Johanne and Tamara. After the death of Joan he married Ella in 1989. He leaves his sister-in-law Alison Shaw and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins who, along with Ella's children Carolyn, David and Bob Tanner and their families, will remember him fondly. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at St-Andrew's - Dominion-Douglas United Church, The Boulevard, Westmount, Quebec. CARTER, Dennis. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Carter, at the age of eighty-six, on March 26, 2005. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Clarice in 1999, he was the much loved father of Jan (Eddie) and the late Elaine (Chris), Grandad of Paul (Leah) and Jennifer, and the Great-Grandad of Zachary and Joshua. CHRISTIE, Renee L.W. (nee Papineau). Our dear Renee passed away at home on March 21, 2005 at the age of eighty-nine after a long illness borne with courage and dignity. Survived by her adoring husband of sixty-two years, Mowatt Christie. Beloved mother of Jacqueline (Boyd) of Fox Island, Washington, Talbot and Suzanne (Williams) of Oxford, U.K. Grandmother (Meme) of Natasha, Sean, Odette, Jebb, Christopher and Azelie. Great-grandmother of Aurelie. Also survived by her loving sister Jacqueline Desbaillets. Renee was a direct descendent of Louis Joseph Papineau and spent her early childhood at the Manoir at Montebello and in Montreal. During the 1939 war she did nursing service (VAD). She was an accomplished artist, she studied first in Montreal under Edwin Holgate and Goodrich Roberts and later under Maggi Hamlin in London. She has had, or contributed to, many expositions in Canada and elsewhere. Her married life led to lengthy stays abroad in Libya, U.S.A., France, Holland and the U.K. all of which provided subjects for her brush. Renee's loving disposition and kindness and consideration for others shone through her daily contacts and made her much loved and respected by those around her. She will be deeply missed. The family wish to express their thanks for the wonderful care provided by the CLSC Magog, that permitted retaining her at home, especially to Dr. Danielle Fisch, Dr. Masse and their wonderfully efficient and considerate nurses. HUMPHREYS, Enoch Clarence (Larry). Passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2005 after a very brief illness at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay at the age of one hundred and two. He was born in Montreal in 1902 and experienced many interesting jobs and was so proud of his 37 yrs at Hilroy in Toronto and driving the Royal Guard for the Prince of Wales around 1927. He joins his late parents and 10 siblings. He will be re-united with "the love of his life" Rhoda who predeceased him on June 25, 2004. He is survived by his only daughter, Ora Evola (Florida) and his devoted great niece, Donna Swanson, who had the privilege of sharing "Uncle Larry's" daily life over the past 10 months. He is also survived by a nephew, Ted Humphreys (Barbara) and many great & great-great nieces and nephews (Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver). Larry will be sadly missed by his adoptive doggies, Buddy & Baxter ("the Baby") who brought him so much joy. Many thanks to Beverley Pierunek who assisted in his care and provided great companionship. Larry put all his faith and trust in Dr. Peter Anderson and appreciated his advice for more than 20 yrs. Larry had a great passion for his "Hawaiian Steel Guitar" and did his last dance steps on the 3rd floor of the RMH. Sincere thanks go out to the nursing staff who observed this remarkable man and provided exceptional care and attention. Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date.
