Yvon Savoie 1928 - 2005 POINTE-SAPIN, NB - At the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday, March 25, 2005, at the age of 77, passed away Yvon Savoie, spouse of Laudia (Robichaud) from Pointe-Sapin. Born March 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Fred Savoie and the late Mélina (Bordage). He is survived by his wife; as well as five sons, Ronald Daigle (Jeanine) from Haut-Barachois, Donat Savoie (Sheilla) from Chipman, Blair Savoie (Kim) from P.E.I., Valmond Savoie (Barbara) from Riverview, and David Savoie from Campbellton; one daughter, Flora Stewart (John) from St-Louis; 11 grandchildren, Renée, Allain, Jacques, Joanne, Brenda-Lee, Janice, Holly, Ashley, Justin, Megan and Jessica; four brothers, Joseph, Arthur and Alyre, all from Pointe-Sapin, and Alfred from St-John; two sisters, Marguerite and Christina, both from Moncton; many nieces and nephews, and four grand-nephews. He was predeceased by four children, Joanne, Allain, Perry and Bruno; as well as two brothers, Antoine and Ovila. She leaves her sister-in-law, Catherine Olive Trombley and husband Charles, of Vermont, U.S.A., and their family, as well as her dear friend Dorothy Clouthier of Ottawa. She will also be sadly missed by many friends in Montreal, Ottawa and cities around the globe, who remember her for her optimism, enthusiasm, humour and grace. Margaret will be especially missed by all of her friends from the Catholic Women's League, where she was an active member for many years in both Ottawa and Montreal. In particular, Margaret served as the Montreal Diocesan President, as well as on Quebec and Ontario provincial councils and the national CWL committee. Margaret lived and worked in Montreal for most of her life and was employed with the Federal Business Development Bank of Canada in Montreal for almost 40 years. Anne-Marie Ferris (nee: Sutherland) , of Constance Lake - Date of Death: March 9th, 2005 - The funeral service for Constance Lake resident Ann-Marie Doreen (nee Sutherland) Ferris, 40, was held March 14, 2005. She died March 9 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 18, 1964 in Hearst, she was described by family as strong, caring, loving and full of laughter. Active in traditional pow-wows and ceremonies, she cherished every day spent with her family — especially with her two grandchildren — and friends, her family said. Predeceased by her parents Camillia (nee Taylor) Sutherland and Thomas Sutherland, and infant son Jamin Ferris, she leaves her husband Sheldon Ferris, daughters Amberzina (Mitchell) Sutherland, Kordina Sutherland and Doreen Ferris, sons Devon Sutherland and David Ferris, and granddaughter Makiya and grandson Lavron, all of Constance Lake. Also surviving are her sisters Cecile (Norman) Solomon, and brothers John (Bertha), Donald (Mary) and Paul (Lucy) Sutherland, all of Constance Lake. Traditionl elder Eli Taylor and Hearst Rev. Douglas Richardson directed the service at the community centre and then at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. The deceased was dressed in traditional attire. Interment followed at Constance Lake burial grounds. Funeral director was the Salon Lafrance Funeral Home.

MARTINEZ, Margaret, After a courageous battle with Melanoma, Margaret passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 68. Survivors are her loving husband John Edmonds, daughters Irene (Greg) Qu isenberry and Teresa (Rip) Weachter, grandchildren Katie, Allie and John Weachter and soon to be born granddaughter Eve Quisenberry; all of Tampa, many nieces and nephews, especially John Jutras of Quebec, Deedee Appleby of Nova Scotia and Rose Lange ndorf of Quebec, sister-in-law Jacqueline MacKay of Mississauga and brother-in-law Pierre Jutras of Quebec. Preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Susan MacKay, her first husband Pedro Martinez, her brother Alfred "Bud" MacKay, sisters Ruth Elk ins and Berry Jutras. Margaret was born in Sutton, Quebec and raised in Cornwall , Ontario until she moved to Florida in 1962 and settled in Lakeland where she raised her family and pursued a career in real estate. Margaret was a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Florida where she received a B.A. in Art History. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was a volunteer docent at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida. Margaret and John m et in Quebec City in 2002 and moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake in 2003 where Margaret became a member of the Shaw Guild, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Newcomer's Book Club and the St. Catharines Probus Club where she made many friends. Cremation has taken plac e. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake at a later date to be announced. He enjoyed camping, music and restoring cars.Besides his parents and fiancée, he is survived by two sisters, Diane Vieira and Cheri Cardinal, both of Waterbury; his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Dorothy Samela of Waterbury; his paternal grandmother, Ann Cardinal of Wolcott; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. SOUTH YARMOUTH - Joseph Paul Hurtubise Jr., 45, died Friday at his home after a brief illness. A lifelong Cape Cod resident, Mr. Hurtubise attended Dennis-Yarmouth schools before becoming a self-employed businessman and a delivery carrier for the Cape Cod Times. He was a lover of animals and an enthusiastic fan of the both the Red Sox and New England Patriots. Survivors include two children, Jessica A. Hurtubise of South Yarmouth and Matthew J. Hurtubise of Providence, R.I.; his father, Joseph P. Hurtubise of Virginia; a sister, Dianne Kelley of West Yarmouth; and a brother, Paul J. Hurtubise of Virginia. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Morris and O'Connor Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth. Benoit “Benny” J. Joyal, 80, of Highland St., Hudson, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 26, 1924 in Lowell, MA, son of the late Donat and Florida (Pellerin) Joyal. He was the husband of the late Rita (Boisvert) Joyal, who died in February of 1995. Mr. Joyal worked at Greenridge Turkey Farm Restaurant in Nashua for 20 years. After retiring form Greenridge, he and his wife Rita co-founded a catering business, Benny’s Catering. He was very devoted to their business and retired after 35 years of work. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Hudson Post 48, as well as a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. Mr. Joyal loved spending time with his family and enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City with them. Survivors include one son, Rene Joyal of Hudson, One daughter and a son in law, Susan and William Zelonis of Hudson. A brother, Aurelien “Joe” Joyal of Dracut, MA. Four grandchildren, Erica Petralia of Hillsborough, NH, Peter Zelonis of Ascutney, VT, Christine Floyd and Bryan Joyal, both of Hudson. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. All are invited and may meet at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson at 9:15am. KAY, Robert - Passed away suddenly in his sleep at Empress Gardens on March 28, 2005, just a few weeks after celebrating his 80th birthday. Beloved father of Carolyn and Jenniffer Kay. Proud grandfather of Sebastian Kay. Pre-deceased by the love of his life, Elva (nee Hodgson). Older brother to Bill Kay and wife Anna and Helen Dale and husband Dave. Robert was also very fond of his two nephews and his two nieces. As a young volunteer Robert fought in WWII in the British Navy. Following this, he emigrated to Canada where he trained as a teacher, rising to the position of Head of the Technical Department at Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate in Scarborough. He loved Scotland, including the immortal Robbie Burns and the national sport of soccer, which he coached throughout his life. A history buff, he was fascinated by WWII and deeply admired Winston Churchill. Robert will be greatly missed by his two daughters and his grandson. A funeral service will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Roger Eugene Miner May 10, 1925 - March 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) MINER, Roger Eugene - 79, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII. He was born in Amherst on May 10, 1925, the eldest son of the late Chester and Gertrude (Stonehouse) Miner. Roger was a veteran of the Second World War serving as an instructor at Camp Utopia. After the war he attended Mount Allison University graduating with a B.A. followed by NSIT to earn his professional engineer degree. He began his career with Dosco in Sydney followed by moves to Amherst with Canada Electric, New Glasgow, NSPC then settling in Dartmouth in 1972 where he retired in 1986. He was an elder of Woodlawn United Church and a member of the men's club. He was active in the community volunteering for many charities and organizations including Community Concert Association, various figure skating clubs such as CHP, Jazz East, Neptune Theatre, Red Cross and tutoring math students. He enjoyed his summers gardening, swimming, and bicycling with his family in Murray Corner, N.B. Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bernice (Scott); daughters, Kathryn (Ray Dickens); Holly (Bill Smithers); grandchildren, Ashley Dickens, Caitlin and David Smithers, Steve, Greg and Barb Dickens; great-grandchildren, Jesse Wells, Rachael Dickens, Jacob and Katrina Dickens. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald; and son, David in infancy. OLSZEWSKI, Joseph, Passed peacefully, at 80 years of age, at home surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 25, 2005. HARRIET “HATTIE“ PICHE -- SHELBURNE — Harriet “Hattie“ Piche, 75, of Shelburne, formerly a longtime resident of South Burlington died peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2005, with her loving family by her side in the Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Hattie was born in Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., Feb. 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Edith (Peryea) McDonald. She was married in Winooski in 1948, to Roland J. Piche. He predeceased her in 1985. Her life was devoted to loving and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Hattie is survived by seven children, Judith Sicard of Florida, James Piche and wife Rita of Kyrgyzstan, Linda Britch and husband Bruce of Colchester, Jean Gadue and husband Peter of Shelburne, Carolyn Thornton and husband Jim of Florida, Michael J. Piche and wife Shirley of Stephentown, N.Y., and Anne Eldred and husband Gary of Waterbury; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-inlaw, Laurie Piche of Alabama; two sisters, Theresa L'Ecuyer of Colchester, and Margaret Mansfield of New Hampshire; one brother, Rudolph McDonald of Florida; in-laws, Robert and Pauline Piche, Florence Calarco and Alyce Piche; special family, Nancy Hotopp, Linda Pidgeon and Wendy Coleman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Hattie was predeceased by a son, Thomas Piche; a grandson, Shane Kroboth; her twin sister, Martha Barber; and sisters, Mercedes McDonald and Anna Schmaldeinst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Shelburne. Interment will follow at Resurrection Park in South Burlington.
