BISHOP, MARY D. Mary D. Bishop of Woodstock, wife of James S. (Jim) Bishop, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Grafton, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Adelaide (Cronkhite) Mooers. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by two daughters, Kim Cummings (Dean) of Woodstock, and Diane Bishop (Brian King) of Fredericton; a son, Timothy Bishop (Jill) of Ottawa, ON; two brothers, Gordon Mooers (Lorna) of Newfoundland and Douglas Mooers (Winona) of Ottawa; two sisters, Elaine Scott (Richard) of Burlington, ON and Juanita Smith (Bruce) of Woodstock; five grandchildren, Craig Schriver, Brooke Cummings, Tyler Bishop, Taylor Bishop, and Ady King; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her son, Andrew Bishop; a brother, Jack Mooers, and a sister, Margaret Banks. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm from St. James United Church. Rev. HARRY SAWCHUK Peacefully in the early morning on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, Harry Sawchuk passed away at the age of 86 surrounded by members of his family. Harry was born Sept. 9, 1918 in Rainy River, Ont. to Harry and Mary Sawchuk. In 1928, the family moved to a farm in Atwood Township. Here, he cultivated his love for farming, gardening, and livestock husbandry, and recreational activities. Following a stint in the Canadian Army, Harry returned to Rainy River and began a dual career as a farmer and a railroader. He was employed by the CNR for more than 30 years. During these years, he worked as a brakeman and conductor between Rainy River and Atikokan. On Oct. 29, 1944, Harry was united in marriage to Anne Oleksyn (formerly of Wakaw, Sask.) and they shared 60 years of marriage. Together, they purchased the farm land adjacent to his parents located on the banks of the Rainy River, where they presently reside. It was here they raised six loving children. Left to treasure memories of that huge smile, his twinkling eyes, and his caring, giving nature are his beloved wife of 60 years, Anne; children, Herb (Sue) of Chesterfield, Mich., Ken (Louise) of Atikokan, Ont., Bob of Sleeman, Ont., Linda (Larry) of Fort Frances, Ont., Harry Jr. (Barb) of Ear Falls, Ont., and Patti of Winnipeg, Man.; and grandchildren, Tanya (Mark) Peraino, Wendi Sawchuk, Bruce, Tyler, and Lindsey Coyle, and Jeff, Kyla, Ryan, and Kendra Sawchuk. He also is survived by his sisters, Jessie Nielsen (Norman) of Baudette, Mn. and Frances Amundsen of Dawson Township. In earlier years, Harry was active in 4-H activities and, in later years, was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. The outdoors was his theatre, whether hunting, fishing, trapping, berry picking, cutting wood, or gardening. This was his passion! Harry’s other interests included card-playing, story-telling, and travelling the back roads visiting neighbours and looking for bargains. He had an insatiable appetite for hockey, baseball, and football. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Mary Sawchuk; brother-in-law, Amund Amundsen; and a brother and sister in infancy. A funeral mass in celebration of his life was held Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Rainy River, Ont. Fr. Dan Debano and Fr. James Panikulam officiated, with a private interment held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River. The pallbearers were Eric Westover, Herman Krahn, Ian Johnson, Vaughn Murray, Harry Amundsen, and Jack Elliott. The honourary pallbearers were Steve Yeryk, Walter Swerbus, Fred Kocis, Fred Westover, Glen Kaus, and Ken Moore. W.C. MYERS Word has been received of the death of W.C. (Bill) Myers of Marshal, Tex., who passed away Oct. 21, 2004 at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born Jan. 18, 1943 in Kansas City, Mo. to the late Bill and Mary Myers Sr. At an early age, he moved with his family to Little Canoe River on the North Arm of Rainy Lake, where his parents built and operated Little Canoe Lodge. Bill and his sister were taught school by their mother at Little Canoe until high school, which he completed in Kansas City. His summers were spent at Little Canoe. After graduating, he returned to this area, where he worked guiding and trapping, but eventually moved back to Kansas City, where he was employed by General Motors. He was transferred to Shreveport, La. in 1989 and retired from there in 1996. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. His hobby was collecting guns, reloading his ammunition, and building muzzle-loading replicas. He also enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. He is survived by Charlotte, his beloved wife of 24 years; his three children, Casey (Elaine) of Marshal, Tex., Laurie Miller and companion, Henry Sandoval, of Brownsville, Tex., and Thomas (Carla) of Kansas City, Mo. He also is survived by his sister, Betty (Phil) Cleroux of Kamloops, B.C.; six grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Baptist Temple in Waskom, Tex.

Elle laisse dans le deuil quatre soeurs: Oveline Bertin (feu Albert), Arnolda Comeau (feu Léo) et Yvette Arseneau (feu Aurèle), toutes de Bathurst et Bertha LeBlanc de Montréal, Qc, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Un frère, Wilfred, ainsi que trois soeurs: Sylvie, Malvina et Emilie, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. KJELLSTROM, Connie Lea (nee Ward)- Born August 27, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. After a valiant and ever so courageous battle with cancer, Connie died in the loving arms of her mother on October 31st. Connie leaves behind her only son Mitchell, Alberta, and her so loved grandson Noah. Her parents Dwyla and Uwe Hartmann of North Bay. Her "big" brother John Robert Ward (Wanda) and their children, Connie's very loved niece Kelly and nephew Chad Ward, of Newfoundland. Also left behind are Connie's beloved little sister Beverly Ann Ward (Steve Dugas) and their six children, who held a very special place in Connie's heart, Mackenzie, Davis and Kristen, Dylan, Ian and Kerri. Connie loved her favourite aunt who made her smile right to the end, Ione Barre (Maurice) and her uncle Karl and aunt Charlene Smith all of North Bay. DELANEY, Reverend John James. A priest of the diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, and during his retirement, a resident in the Diocese of Pembroke. Father Delaney died on the Feast of All Saints, November 1, 2004, at the Pembroke General Hospital, Pembroke, following a brief illness, in his 90th year. Father Delaney was born in Chapleau, Ontario on February 14, 1915, the only child of the late John Patrick Delaney & Mary Ellen Mullin. Having completed elementary school studies at Sacred Heart School, Chapleau (1921-1923) and at St. Mary School, North Bay (1923-1927), he then attended North Bay Collegiate (1927-1931) and Scollard Hall (1931-1934). He then pursued philosophy studies at St. Jerome's College, Waterloo (1934-1935) and at the Seminary of Philosophy in Montreal (1935-1936) before continuing with his theological studies at St. Peter's Seminary, London (1936-1940). His Excellency, Ralph Hubert Dignan, then Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie, ordained him to priesthood at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption in North Bay, Ontario on May 18, 1940. Following Ordination to the Priesthood, Father Delaney offered devoted service, first as curate at Sacre-Coeur Parish, Sturgeon Falls, and then as parish priest in twelve parishes in the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, beginning with St. Elizabeth Parish, Temagami (May 1942 - Nov. 1946) and concluding with St. Ambrose Parish, Thessalon (Sept. 1979 - Aug. 1983). During his term as parish priest of St. Stanislaus Parish, Copper cliff, Father Delaney was elected by his brother priests to serve as Dean of the Nickel Belt Deanery. Father Delaney retired from fulltime ministry in September of 1983. Since his retirement, "Butch", as many knew him, was a welcome presence in the Diocese of Pembroke, residing in Cobden & Osceola and Marianhill (Long-Term Care facility), Pembroke. Father Delaney generously served as priest and friend, not only in these parishes, but also in many others in the diocese, offering assistance to his brother priests. Those who have listened to him preach, have always appreciated his excellent talent of raconteur. Many will miss his stories and his ability to share them in such an entertaining fashion. His passion for life was most especially seen in his defense of the pre-born. He frequently wrote to politicians and newspapers, advocating the importance of the Pro-Life movement. During his retirement years, Father Delaney even began another "career" as a gentleman farmer and was often known to leave rectories in the early hours of the morning to tend to his other "flock". In recent years, Father Delaney resided at Marianhill, where his presence was deeply appreciated. Father Delaney is mourned by his first cousin and close friend Marnie Walsh, Cobden, and numerous relatives, his brother priests, religious sisters and many of the lay faithful. In keeping with Father Delaney's wishes, visitation to St. Pius V Church, Osceola, on Thursday, November 4, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2004. WILSON, Marjorie Our mom, Marjorie, passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 2, 2004 at the age of 92. She was an extra-ordinary woman who taught five children solid values. She could turn an ordinary day into an adventure. No job was impossible to Mom, she could tackle anything. She filled our home with warmth, music and laughter. She loved a good book, tea by the fireplace and knitting for her many grandchildren. Marjorie has joined her husband Bill. She will be dearly missed by children, Brant Wilson and wife Linda, Carolyn and husband Terry Blocher, the late Kathleen and husband Carl Kohn, Rod and wife Nancy Wilson and Andy and wife Kathryn Wilson.
