W. John Jarman Peacefully, at Deer Lodge Centre on the morning of October 8, 2004, John Jarman passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 60 years. John was predeceased by his father Jack. He is survived by his wife Lesia, his mother Olive, his six children, by four grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of John’s life will held Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Elim Chapel, 546 Portage Avenue, with interment to take place at St. Vital Cemetery. Bronik "Brownie" Ronchka October 06, 1913 - May 17, 2004 - peacefully, on May 17, 2004 at the WRHC -Western Campus. Beloved husband of the late Olga (nee Zolotcov) (2001) and will be sadly missed by his daughter Sandy, son-in-law Franck O'Sullivan, of Pickering and grandson Adam. Brownie also leaves his brother Bill, of Windsor. Brownie was a retiree of the G.M. Transmission Plant with over 40 years of loyal service and was a member of the C.A.W. Local 1973. A private family service was held on May 19, 2004 at the Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel (Tecumseh) (735-2830). An interment followed at Victoria Memorial Gardens. As your expression of sympathy, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2106 Ottawa St., Suite 280, Windsor N8Y 1R8 or to the Salvation Army, P.O.Box 161, Windsor N9A 6K1 would be appreciated. Robert Alfred Schwarz - passed away peacefully on May 17, 2004, in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. His wife Gertrude Elise (Lisa) predeceases him. He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Karen Pampallis (John), Johannesburg, South Africa, Volker (Grace), Peter (Barb), Richard all of Winnipeg; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Lynn Lake Hospital for their care and compassion. In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was the loving grandfather of Isaac, Hannah, Kiera, Gavin, Nicole and Evan. Bob was the dear brother of Frances Smith of North Bay. NICOLINA GARITO 1913 - 2004 The family announces with great sorrow her death on Wednesday October 6, 2004 at the Golden Manor at the age of 90 years. Predeceased by her husband Frank Garito in 1991, her grandson Frankie Garito in 1974 and by her 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by her son Tony Garito (Rita), her grandchildren Colleen Garito, Laurie-Ann Whiteman, Christine Portelance (Antoine), Gordon Garito (Kristy), Tanya Johnston (Mark) and Terri-Lynne Garito, 6 great-grandchildren Amanda, Brandon, Dominique, Chelsea, Dylan and Patrick, her brother-in-law Guiseppe Garito (Elizabeth) and by several nieces and nephews. Leona Ackles “The Cake Lady” Ackles - It is with great sadness that the family of Leona Ackles announces her passing on Friday, October 1, 2004 at the Kirkland & District Hospital at the age of 78 years. Leona was predeceased by her loving husband Truman. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Carolyn (Claude) Vivier of North Bay, Mildred (Bill) Madill of Wasaga Beach Scott (Debbie) Ackles of Kirkland Lake, Chris (Fiancée Donna) Ackles of Kirkland Lake, grandchildren Cindy, Todd, Mark, Corinna, Laura and Tina, and eleven great grandchildren. Leona will also be remembered by her brothers Gerald Harvey of Halifax and Ivan Harvey of Peterborough, as well as her sister-in-law Muriel Robinson of Ottawa. Mary Ann Walls (née Browning) - May 14, 1947 - May 21, 2004 - Peacefully at home on May 21, 2004 at 57 years of age. Mary Ann was the youngest of fifteen children born to James and Lily Browning. She leaves to mourn devoted children, Geoffrey Walls and wife Connie, Samuel Walls and Jennifer Walls. Loving friend Dr. Bryan Walls. Sadly missed by grandchildren Mirandus, Jordan and Justus. Also special friend to Mrs. Joyce Forte. Dear sister of Violet Lawson, Beatrice Browning, Norma and husband George Duiquid, Shirley Smith, Irene Johnson, Orval and wife Gerri Browning, Earl Browning and the late Jean Scott, Ruby Burnette, Dorothy Mitchell, Raymond Browning, Paul Browning, John Browning, James Browning and a host of other relatives and friends. Christine H. Wach (née Faber) - June 24, 1943 - May 29, 2004 - 60 yrs, Lake Echo, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, May 29, 2004. Born in Germany, she was a daughter of the late Heinrich and Anna (Kloos) Faber. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife who enjoyed life to the fullest. In all the world, there couldn't be a person any more loving. Christine always sacrificed herself to others needs, and this was evident through her enjoyment of cooking, baking and entertaining. She lived for her family and the fellowship of her many friends. She enjoyed nature, and gardening with her dog Shadow. She worked as a waitress for many years, and later was employed by Nightingales as a personal care worker. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Wach, Lake Echo; sons, Duane Wach, Grande Prairie, Alta.; Darryl (Inge) Wach, Lake Echo; Danny (Jenna) Wach, Grande Prairie; daughter, Jennifer (Josh) Macumber, Edmonton, Alta.; brothers, Henry Faber, Lake Echo; Gunther (Linda) Faber, Lake Echo; sister, Theresa (Don) Williams, Ontario; honorary grandchildren, Faith and Julie; many nieces and nephews. Gordon Tario - After a hard fought battle with cancer, Gordon Murray Tario, beloved husband of Maureen Tario, died at Riverview Hospital on May 11, 2004. He is survived by his wife and best friend Maureen; brothers and sisters in law Morris and Cec Tario, Clare and Barbara Tario, Glenda and Ken Blatz and Grace Hall. He will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Tario; brothers Robert and William Hall, Lloyd Tario, sister and brother-in-law Iverna and Mel Thompson. Gordon was born June 4, 1926 in the Pine Creek District. He attended school at Springbrook and Austin, Manitoba. He worked for a fuel oil business in Austin before branching out into self employment. Gordon joined Eatons in 1958 and retired in 1988. He enjoyed the closeness of family and friends and travelling to different places. He was especially fond of their summer camp on Brokenhead River where he was able to appreciate nature’s many facets. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Palliative Care Riverview 3E for the wonderful care provided to Gordon during his stay there. Flowers are gratefully declined. Coriena May Robinson ( née Hall ) - February 17, 1912 - May 13, 2004 - 92 yrs, Dartmouth, passed away suddenly on May 13, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital, in the company of family and friends. Born in Falmouth, Cornwall, England, on February 17, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Rhoda M. (Moyle) and Cecil A. Hall. Coriena married the late Charles A. Robinson of Dartmouth, in 1935, in England, and came to Canada in November 1935. They resided in Dartmouth and Westphal and were active members of Emmanuel Church, Dartmouth, and St. John's Anglican Church in Westphal. She was also a life member of the Dartmouth Horticultural Society. She is survived by daughters, Carol and son-in-law Rick Richardson, London, Ont.; Valerie and son-in-law Gerry Daye, Dartmouth; son, Robert and wife Audrey, Jeddore; grandchildren, Bruce, Lynn, Sue Anne, Kimberley, Tara, Reg, and Robert; great-grandchildren, Tristin, Jasmine, Brandon, Adam, Hannah, Samuel, Amanda, Andrew, Leanne, Sarah, Rebecca, Simone, Matthew, and Hailey. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; sisters, Violet and Elvie; brothers, Cecil, Maurice and Dennis; grandchildren, Grant and Tina. Miss Léanne Valérie Simpkins - March 05, 1982 - May 20, 2004 - Suddenly on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital, Léanne, beloved daughter of Valérie Maguet and Glen Simpkins, passed away at the age of 22. Léanne will be lovingly remembered and missed by her mother Valérie, her father Glen (Judy), grandparents Laurent (Lorraine) Maguet and Louise Simpkins, brother Ryan, sisters Krista and Heather along with many special uncles, aunties, cousins and friends. From a very early age Léanne struggled with health problems but was a determined soul and excelled at whatever she set her mind to. She enjoyed a variety of activities including dancing, gymnastics, crafts, swimming, baseball, soccer, rollerblading, cycling and especially loved skiing and snowboarding. She was a talented pianist and recently taught herself to play the guitar. Graduating from Collège Louis Riel in 2000, Léanne was close to completing her Business Administration program at Red River College. She was fluent in both English and French and had ambitions to learn more languages, starting with Spanish. Léanne was able to use her language skills as a public relations volunteer at the Pan Am Games and as a ski instructor with children at Lake Louise. Léanne was very independent, adventurous and sociable, and valued the many friendships she established wherever she traveled. From planting trees in Northern Alberta to high fashion, she had her own style. Léanne loved her summers at the Lake-of-the-Woods, traveling with her mom, spending time at the farm in Ste. Rose-du-Lac, bonding with her brother Ryan, girl stuff with her sisters Krista and Heather, and being with her grandparents. Léanne was extremely organized and captured the important times, people and places during her life in her “memory books” full of pictures, letters, poems, and her thoughts throughout her years growing up to the present. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m,. on Tuesday, May 25 at St. Bernadette’s Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road with Father Fred Olds presiding. Marija Stampf - passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter holding her hand on Friday, May 21, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Marija was predeceased by her husband Duro and her sisters Juliska, Katica and Ana. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her daughter, Ana (Drago) Bandel; granddaughter, Gordana (Dave) Kinsley, great-grandsons, Chris and Jonathan; granddaughter, Renata Bandel (Jason Komorofsky), great-grandsons, Dylan and Logan; granddaughter, Nancy Bandel (Bill Watchman), great-grandson, Alexander. She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Wincezeffi as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Marija loved spending time with her family. She showered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and praise, treats and gifts. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching and knitting. Mrs. Edith Euphania Rankine (née Muise) - October 19, 1926 - May 22, 2004 - 77, Mount Uniacke, succumbed to a lengthy illness on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at home with her family present. Born October 19, 1926, in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Marie Genevieve (Doucette) Muise. Edith, as she was known to some, and Phanie, as she was known by family, was the widow of the late James Ronald Rankine. She is survived by her children, Sheila (Tom Homatidis), Robert (Alice Rankine) and Stephen (Jennifer Zambrano). Edith will be remembered as an avid bingo fan, a doer of "fancy work", and for having a wonderful sense of humour. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 25. Mass of Christian Burial in honour of her life will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, in Saint Francis of Assissi Roman Catholic Church, Mount Uniacke. Private family interment will be held in Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth, alongside her parents. Joseph Frank Sydor - May 04, 1930 - May 22, 2004 - Joe passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He had just celebrated his 74th birthday. He is survived by his two children Myrna (Oskar) Friedenberg and Don (Sandra) Sydor; and his four grandchildren Kristen and Stephen Friedenberg, and Dustin and Brennan Sydor. Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings Steve (Darlene) Sydor, Stella Syrette, Tony Sydor, Annie Pikoruk, Brian Sydor, Sonia Sydor; and the mother of his children, Gladys Smith. The family would like to express gratitude to his cousin Mary Johnson and his dear friend Fred Toker for their care and compassion. Joe was predeceased by his parents John Sydor, Mary Sydor, brother Bill Sydor and sister Helen Sydor in infancy. Known by all as "Honest Joe", he took great pride in a job well-done. Most of his adult life was spent working as a highly-skilled Heavy-Duty Mechanic and Crane Operator throughout Northern and Central Manitoba and Alberta. Joe had a love for life and fought his illnesses with great strength. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Louis Oscar Tucker - October 06, 1917 - May 25, 2004 - Louis Tucker was born on October 6, 1917 in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. He passed away May 25, 2004 at 86 years of age. His early education was in Ste. Rose and Valpoiy. He also took an agricultural course at the St. Norbert Monastery. Louis married Gertrude (nee Desroches) on October 5, 1944 and together they raised two children on a mixed grain and livestock farm north of Ste. Rose. Louis served as councellor for 27 years in the rural municipality of Ste. Rose. In 1979 Louis and Gertie retired from farming and left Ste. Rose to take up residence on the 'water' in Petersfield. They enjoyed 20 years then moved to the Knights of Columbus Manor in Selkirk. Louis was predeceased by his brothers Raymond and Stanley and by 3 sisters Sylvia Balcaen, Dora Lussier and Gertrude Lambert. Louis is survived by his wife of 59 years Gertrude (Desrochers); two children Mark (Patsy) of Florida and Marie (Richard) of Winnipeg as well as by grandchildren Dale, Kolan, Lesley and Mary-Jean. He also leaves to mourn his brother Henry of Winnipeg; sisters Noellie Monteyne (Joe) and Edna Poulin both of Vernon, B.C. as well as many other relatives and friends. Louis believed in the importance of family, the church, hard work and fair play and was an eternal optimist. He will be sadly missed by many. George Tomic - passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, May 26th, 2004 at the age of 51 years. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 34 years, Maria; daughter, Adriana; mother, Ana; sister, Ana of Yugoslavia; his parents-in-law, Nicola and Draghina; brother-in-law, Petar (Doina) and their children Emilia and Emanuel all of Yugoslavia; as well numerous cousins and friends in Yugoslavia and in Canada. George and Maria left their home country of Yugoslavia in 1973 where they moved to Vienna for two years. From there they moved to Regina, Sask. where they resided and raised a family. George worked with the City of Regina in Water Distribution for 25 years. He loved to travel and he also enjoyed playing his accordion. Bernard Painchaud (BARNEY / BERNIE) - It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bernard, at Concordia Hospital, on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the age of 66 years. Bernard is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, May; his brother, Marcel; sisters, Claire (Bernie) and Nicole; sister-in-law, Brenda Keyser (Peter Murdock), as well as nieces, Denise, Chantal, Melanie, Dominique and Kalyn; nephews, Robert, Karl, Danny, Justin and Mackenzie. He also leaves to mourn him, two aunts, Mrs. Marguerite Painchaud and Mrs. Madeleine Vinet and stepmother, Mrs. Jeannette Bothorel. Barney will be greatly missed by other relatives, many friends and business associates. Bernard was predeceased by his parents, Antoine and Claire (Dugal); brother Robert; sister-in-law, Valerie. Bernard was affiliated with several organizations such as: Blue Goose International (Insurance), Labatt Wildlife Association, Selkirk Game and Fish Handgun Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Branch No. 81. He sang with La Chorale des Intrepides and the Manitoba Sacred Music Choir which sang in Holland, May 1995 for the Liberation Services. Barney had a "big heart" and always made time to help others. He was known for his love of fishing, hunting, playing competitive pool and travelling. Many people will miss his computer expertise. He lived life to the fullest and his "joie de vivre" will be missed. A celebration of Bernard's life will be held on Wednesday, June 2 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Dr. at 10:30 a.m. Viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Maria Popadynec - (1921 – May 27- 2004) - passed away at the age of 83 at the Pasqua Hospital. She is survived by her children, Belle (Ray), Ben (Shirley), Marianne and Roger (Bonnie); seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William; and her daughter, Lillian. She enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and baking. She loved animals, especially her beloved cat, Tippy. At the request of our Mom, there will be a private service for the immediate family only. Civita Maria Scinicariello (née Buonomo) - Peacefully, after a brief illness on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital Civita passed away at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her children, Cosmo Scinicariello (Pina) of Kelowna, British Columbia, and Rita Rampone (Tony), grandchildren, Raphaela Lecomte (Gerald), Erasmo D’Errico (Leah), Laura D’Errico, Maurizio Rampone, Daniela Curcio (John), Maria Macdonnell (Andrew), Gianna Oram (Derek), Mina Cerminara (Carlo), great - grandchildren, Gina Lecomte, Gino and Desiree D’Errico, Christopher, Nicholas, Michael, and Jacob Macdonnell, Sofia, Isabella, and Alyssa Oram, Julianna and Matteo Cerminara, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Italy. Civita was predeceased by her husband Erasmo, and her daughter Giuseppina D’Errico, as well as her brothers and sisters. Civita was born August 21, 1914 and lived in Gaeta, Italy where she married Erasmo and started a family. She was a very strong woman who lived through much in her lifetime. She lived and survived through World War II with a young family to care for on her own. A few years after the war, they decided to immigrate to Canada to begin a new life for themselves and their family. Civita worked for many years in the garment industry, making many friends. Her life revolved around her family and friends. Prayers will be said Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., also in the church, with Father Vincent De Paul Tchaoule presiding. Mrs. Faith S. Reynolds - Faith passed peacefully at her home in the presence of her family, friends and little cat on Friday May 28th, 2004. Comforted by the words of her mother, Adina, Faith serenely drifted off to sleep. We were assured that her passage had been a safe one as she left us with a beautiful smile. Faith continues to live on in the hearts of her daughter Diana, mother Adina, sisters Grace, Madge, Karleen, Delrose and Clover and brothers Kenneth and Carlton, as well as her nieces, nephews, in-laws, other family members, close friends and co-workers. Poul E. J. Vinqvist - November 29, 1929 - May 28, 2004 - Poul Vinqvist, husband of Stella of Dorchester NB, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 28th, 2004 following a lengthy illness. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 29th, 1929, Poul retired after 33 years of service with the Correctional Service of Canada, (Dorchester Penitentiary / Westmoreland Institution). An avid sailor, Poul was a member of the Shediac Bay Marina, and the Canadian Power & Sail Squadron. He is survived by his wife Stella (Babin) sons; Stephen (Anita) of Moncton, Paul (Janet) of Memramcook, Peter (Florine) of Dorchester, grandchildren Peter and Samantha, as well as his extended family in Denmark. Friends and colleagues may pay their respects at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 2 from 2-4 PM. At the request of the family there will be no public funeral service. Eric Winslow Vincent - January 24, 1932 - May 29, 2004 - 72, Halifax, passed away May 29, 2004, at home after a short illness. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Winslow C. Vincent and Isabel (Richardson) Vincent. In his younger years he played hockey for the Kentville Wildcats, St. Mary's Juniors and the Halifax Fire Department. Eric was a member of the Halifax Fire Department, retiring as District Chief after 30 years service. He served for 35 years with the Halifax Civic Credit Union and was a member of the Board of Directors. His happiest time was spent at his cottage of 30 years in Melville, Pictou Co. and as a member of the Northumberland Links. He was a member of Bayers Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Chandler (Channie) Bailey; sons, Paul (Karen), Dartmouth; Peter (Jackie) and Mark (Susan), Halifax; proud Grampy to Kelly, Bedford; Megan, Dartmouth; Erin, Joshua, Cory and Jacob, Halifax. He is also survived by brothers, Arthur (Nona), Noel, Kenneth (Blanche), Shediac; sister, Connie (Bill) Richardson, Bedford, and his mother-in-law, Alice Bailey Tobin, Halifax.
