ANDREWS, Zita - Peacefully at her residence on Thursday, September 30, 2004. She was 81. Zita Andrews, an R.N. Graduate of St. Mary’s in Montreal, who nursed for over 40 years in the Cornwall Community as well as Quebec, Northern Canada and the Canadian Army and who continued caring for her family and friends even after her retirement, not to mention her ongoing gift of humour. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred J. Andrews and the late Jane McCulloch. She is survived by her sister Harriet Andrews. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, Yolande Robinson, Janie Lieczkiw, Donald, Michael and Lee Andrews, Mary Dunlop, Cathy Ginies and Linda Lee MacPhee. Predeceased by six brothers, Ernest, Luke, Donald, Newark, Alfred (Skip) and Vincent Andrews and by 2 sisters Grace Chevrier and Alice Brennan. Friends may call at the M. Lewis Nelson MacGregor - It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Lew on Saturday, May 22, 2004. He will be greatly missed. Lew is survived by his daughters; Eva and Carol (George), son; Michael (Marla), father; Hugh, sisters; Lila, Carol (Albert), and Brenda (Stewart), brothers; Abb (Morag), Gary (Paulette). He was predeceased by his wife; Joy, mother; Georgie, sisters; Annie Laurie, Lillas and nephew Jacy. Lew was born December 29, 1932 in O’Leary, P.E.I. He came to Winnipeg in 1954 and worked at various jobs including farming and MacArthurs Trucking. He then changed careers and became a Correctional Officer at Headingley Gaol, where he worked for 32 years until he retired at age 60. Dad treasured all his friends, many of whom he spent countless hours Talking with over coffee at Robins. His hobbies included antique cars, collecting watches, and playing cribbage. The family would like to thank all who befriended Lew, you made his life brighter. A service will be held on Friday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Avenue. Marshall McDowell Manns - February 24, 1933 - May 30, 2004 - It is with great sadness the family of Marshall M. Manns announce the passing of their deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and special friend to many. Marshall, age 71, resident of Eva Lake, Atikokan, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer, in the quietness of his home, peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side. Marshall was born on February 24, 1933 and married to his wife Lou Ann Manns (nee Crandell) in June of 1951. Together they had four children. Marshall was an avid fisherman both at home in Canada and in the Gulf near their winter home in Aransas Pass, Texas. He spent many wonderful years hunting and both fur and minnow trapping. He spent twelve great years owning and operating a local tourist resort with his family. He loved to play bridge with his friends while in Texas and on the computer at home. He enjoyed playing card games with his grandchildren and he was a wonderful teacher, respected by both students and co-workers. Marshall is survived by Lou Ann, his wife of 53 years and mother of his four children; sons Marshall (Karen) of Marion Lake, Atikokan, Rob (Linda) of Eva Lake, Atikokan; daughters Paula of Thunder Bay and Karyn of Eva Lake, Atikokan; ten grandchildren; Noah, Roxanne and Crystal, Jennifer and Robert, Amanda, Nicole and Brittany, Erica and Robert; and one great-grandchild; Skylar. Also surviving him is his sister Louise (Tom). He was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Ruth Manns. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m.(CST) at the First Baptist Church, Atikokan officiated by Pastor Ken Stainthorpe. Interment at Little Falls Cemetery. MAYBURY, Dorothy Mary Hiley. Peacefully surrounded by family at Granite Ridge Nursing Home, Stittsville, on Saturday, October 2, 2004, after a long and courageous struggle with illness. Born in 1928 in Govilon, Wales, Dorothy married while teaching in Usk Agricultural College, Gwent. Beloved wife of Ronald Maybury, she came to Canada in 1955. For some time she taught Family Studies and Home Economics at Kemptville Agricultural College and at South Carleton High School in Richmond. Dot loved to travel and enjoyed her friends and took pride in making a loving home for her family. She loved to sing and to swim, preferably in the ocean. She will be sadly missed by her children Jane (Ronald Colpitts) and Jonathan (Alison Curtis), also by her grandchildren Kristin and Brett Colpitts, Jonah and Callum Maybury. She was predeceased by her parents William and Ada Jones who came to live in Canada for several years to be closer to her and her family. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her many friends and family worldwide. LENGYEL, Isabel Edith (nee Maltby). Sixty-five, Three Fathom Harbour, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2004, surrounded by family and loved ones in the elegant tranquility of her home by the ocean she dearly loved. Isabel grew up in Pictou, graduated from Mount Allison University and after thirty-four years teaching Home Economics in schools on the South Shore of Montreal, retired to Nova Scotia. She became an active volunteer at the Museum of Natural History and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. She will be remembered and revered by her students, colleagues and friends for the attention she paid to details in her beautiful sewing, her warm hospitality and her affection for family and friends. Her greatest joy was watching her grandson, Ryan, grow and develop his unique personality. Isabel will be fondly remembered and always loved by her husband Louis, grandson Ryan, daughter Lisa and son-in-law Sheldon. Isabel was the eldest daughter of the late Richard and Isabel (Metlin) Maltby. She is survived by three sisters, three brothers, several nieces and nephews. GILL, Denise Louise Williamson - 32, of Kenora, Ont., formerly of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora. was born July 4, 1972 in Fort Frances. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Bernard James Hutchins in 1982; and her uncle, James Alcide (Jim) Hutchins in 1991. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Autumn; husband, Murray and parents, Roy and Judy ; and grandparents, Madeline and Ken Martin. Also left to mourn are her brother, Christopher (Lindsey) and their daughter, Emma; sister, Nicolette; mother-in-law, Lou Gill; father-in-law, Wayne (Coreen) Gill; brother-in-law, Mike and niece, Jaclyn; nephews, David and Tyson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Denise was united in marriage to Murray on Sept. 16, 1995 and they were blessed with their daughter, Autumn, in 1998. She graduated as a registered nurse from Confederation College in 1994 and continued on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lakehead University in June, 2003. Denise and Murray moved to Kenora in 2000 and together they enjoyed holidays to Jamaica, Mexico, and Cuba. She was always very active in the outdoors, enjoying camping, swimming, kayaking, and going to her parents’ cabin. She also enjoyed volunteering at Our Lady of the Valley School, where her daughter attends school. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Kenora, with Captains Val and Gloria Redner officiating. A luncheon will be held after the service in the training room at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, with complimentary parking for those who attend. A celebration of Denise’s life, with a luncheon to follow, also will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Royal Caandian Legion in Fort Frances, with Rev. Garth Clifford officiating. Loving father of Michel (Annette Rayner) of Winnipeg, Robert Grandmaison (Rose) and Lorraine Davidson (Don) both of Sudbury. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Alire (late Lina), Charlie (Azilda of Sudbury), Edmond (late Azilda), Denis (late Matilda), Alma Tessier (late Solomon), Emilia Constantin (late René) and Exilia. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Vanessa, Nadine, Bobby, Luc, Christine, D.J. (fiancée Mel Wyllie), Shannon Bisson (Dan) and by his great grandchildren, Emily, Grace and Dannon. Mr. Grandmaison was a retired miner with Falconbridge Ltd. BURGIE, FRANK Of Angus passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston on Monday October 4, 2004 in his 65th year. A former member of the Canadian Forces (Armoured Corps.) and long time resident of Angus. Frank operated his own business for many years and became known to many of the citizens of Angus and surrounding areas. Beloved husband of Joanne. Loved stepfather or Norma Jean and Lee Anne. VILLENEUVE, Gabriel "Gabi" J. Villeneuve In loving memory of Gabriel "Gabi" J. Villeneuve, 75 years of Sudbury who passed away Sunday morning October 3rd, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Center. He was born in Sturgeon Falls and married Dolores (Beaulieu) in 1949 in Alban. In 1948 Gabriel settled in Sudbury. He was a miner at INCO retiring in 1990 with 42 years service. He was a member of the INCO 1/4 Century Club. In younger years he was a keen boater & fisherman. He enjoyed taking his family on trips, and spending quality time with them. He was an avid bingo player, card player & wrestling fan. Gabi had a wonderful sense of humour and a great affinity to tease others in a good & kindly way. He was devoted to his loving family. Beloved husband of Dolores (Beaulieu) Villeneuve of Sudbury. Loving father of Richard (partner Emma) of Alban, Rachelle and Reo both of Sudbury and Lorraine of Bradford.
