DUFFY, Kelly Marie (11/21/1977 to 03/21/2004) Kelly completed her journey the morning of March 21st, at the age of 26, after a brief but hard fought battle with Leukemia and a series of strokes. Raised in N. Delta, BC; Graduate of Semihamoo Sec, White Rock BC; Graduate of UBC and Keele University, England with a B/A in International Relations and taught English in Japan for two years. Kelly has been living and working her dream job as a political analyst and researcher for the Solicitor General in Ottawa since 2002. The words loving, independent, creative, intelligent, hardworking and determined only begin to describe our daughter. Leaves behind: mom and step-dad Gloria & Jim Morton, brother-Cam Duffy, father-Pat Duffy, Nan Grant, Nan Duffy, Gramps Morton, several aunts, uncles and cousins along with special Auntie Shannon, Uncle Randy & Cousin Nathan. Frances Irene Hopper AMHERST, NS - Frances (Fran) Irene Hopper, age 76, of Amherst passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Amherst Head, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Margaret (Beaton) Chapman. Fran was raised in Groves Point, Cape Breton with her aunt Johanna Bain and cousin Catherine. After graduating from St. Charles Commercial School in Amherst she worked at T. Eaton Co. and later for Murdock Motors and retired from Tantramar Motors. Fran was a member of Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst and an active member of the U.C.W. She was an avid Bridge Player and was a member of the Amherst Duplicate Bridge Club as well as the Coffee Bowling League. Fran enjoyed spending her summers at her cottage with Ralph at the Amherst Shore. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and sewing. Fran was a devoted mother and loving grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. SCOTT, WILLARD MELBOURNE - 69 years of age, of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, passed away on March 22nd, 2004 after a heroic effort to overcome cancer. Born in St. Stephen, NB, he lived his young years in St. Andrew's and Saint John, NB. He was the son of the late Elsie (Thorpe) Scott and Melbourne Scott. Willard worked for many years as a Construction Superintendant in British Columbia and in many parts of Canada. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Bullock) (Cook), daughter Jane, Dartmouth, NS, sons Stephen (Jayn) and Michael, Dartmouth, NS, J. Thomas, Halifax, NS, Andrew (Cheryl), Courtenay, BC, grandchildren, Sara, Jayne, Michael Jr. and Craig, one sister Ruth Nesbitt, Saint John, NB, one brother William Scott, Vancouver, BC, and several nephews. He was predeceased by his son James, twin brother to J. Thomas, his second wife Judy, sister Pauline and brother Donald. CECCHETTO, "Eddie" Edward Joseph In loving memory of Edward J. "Eddie" Cecchetto, 94 years of Sudbury, who passed away Sunday evening, March 21, 2004 at the Extendicare-York, Sudbury. He was born in Copper Cliff and married Phyllis (Larkin) in 1953 in Sudbury. A well known and respected Sudburian, Edward had worked at INCO for years prior to World War II. After the war, he and his brothers operated the very successful Cecchetto and Sons Construction Co. from which he retired in 1974. A proud Canadian, he served overseas during World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Bomber Command and he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 76, Sudbury. He was a founding member and past president of the Caruso Club. A devout Roman Catholic, he had been a longtime parishner at St. Clement's Church, and more recently, Our Lady of Hope Church. A good friend to many, Eddie was quick to help others. He was devoted to his loving family. Beloved husband of Phyllis (Larkin) Cecchetto of Sudbury. Loving father of Kathleen Cecchetto of Brampton and Richard Cecchetto, predeceased. Cherished grandfather of Collin McWhinnie and Kelly McWhinnie. Dear son of Augustino and Italia (Volpato) Cecchetto predeceased. She will be missed dearly by her soul mate, best friend and loving husband of 24 years, Allan and her two wonderful daughters, Jaclyn (Jason Stelck) and Dana. She leaves behind her mother Ghislaine Langevin, and six sisters, Carmen (Oscar) Amyotte, Marcella (Gordon) Banco, Rachel (George) Caron, Michelle (Danny) Bussiere, Louise (Darron Ward) Langevin and Pauline (Paul) Morrissette; as well as 13 nieces and nephews and one great-niece. BARKER, Charles Frederick (Fred) Passed away at his home in Barrie on Monday, March 22nd, 2004. Fred Barker in his 71st year was the beloved husband of Joan (Maidlow). Dear father of Stephen and his wife Susan of Barrie, Jamie and his wife Lisa of Fort Erie and Lynn Wilson and her husband Greg of Barrie. Loving grandfather of Jamie, Kimberley, Christopher, Alisha, Tabitha, Joshua, Jacob, Tyler, Jessica, Emma, Adam and Allison. HELEN LINA KITZUL Helen Lina Kitzul, 86, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged (formerly of 629 Keating Ave.), Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. She was born Oct. 2, 1917 in Roblin, Man. to the late John and Katherine Basaraba. In 1928, Helen moved to Fort Frances with her parents and the younger of her nine siblings. In her younger years, Helen was known for her cooking and baking talents. With her sister, Polly, she owned and operated King’s Koffee Kup—famous for its hearty fare and the occasional feed of perohy and holupchi. Helen later was employed by the Minnesota-Ontario paper mill and was proud to be a member of the quarter-century club. Upon her retirement from Boise, Helen spent many happy summers at Canamera, the family cabin on Rainy Lake, where she loved to entertain family and friends. Fresh blueberry pie were her baking specialty. Helen’s goal in life was to be a good and loving mother—a goal she accomplished readily and with great ease. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. In later years, the hugs and kisses of her great-grandchildren brought her such happiness. The lives of others were touched by her generosity and loving care. Helen is survived by one son, Ron King and wife, Mary, of Fort Frances, Ont.; one daughter, Marcia and husband, Don Zeleny, of Fort Frances, Ont.; four grandchildren, Tony King and wife, Pam, of Fort Frances, Ont., David King and wife, Nicole, of Sudbury, Ont., Michael Mihichuk and wife, Terri, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Angela Mihichuk of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and three great-grandchildren, Dawson Mihichuk, Averi King, and Keira King. Also surviving are one brother, Peter Basabara and wife, Polly, of Fort Frances, Ont.; special nephew, Bill Tryhuk of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Kitzul on Sept. 1, 1996; one brother, John Basaraba; and six sisters, Polly Korman, Mary Urbanski, Annie Welenchenko, Jessie Turewich, Rose Beck, and Effie Tryhuk. Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Fr. Jaroslaw Buciora officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Michael Mihichuk, Tony King, and David King; and nephews, Alan Basaraba, Kim Basaraba, and Paul Neurinski. Honourary pallbearers were Bill Tryhuk, the Bill Neurinski family, Peter Basabara, Polly Basaraba, and many of her close friends. Elle a été précédée par deux enfants, Noëlla et Jacques, frères et soeurs, Léopold, Lucien, Yvette, René, Alphé, Joseph et Baptiste.
