Muriel Beatrice Hatcher Muriel Beatrice Hatcher of Moncton, NB, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004 at The Moncton Hospital. She was born March 1, 1920 in Pictou County, NS, and was the daughter of the late Earl and Lucy (Horton) Huggan. A retired Stenographer with Stelco. She attended the Lakeburn United Church and was a member of the Bicentenial Skating Club and was a member of the legion seniors group. She is survived by a daughter JoAnn McCarthy (Paul) of Moncton; two sons, Gordon Kirk (Joan) of Lazare, PQ and Donald Lorne (Maryann) of Oakville, ON; a sister, Olive Hiltz (Bazil) of Cumberland County, NS; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Gordon Kirk; a sister, Lorraine; and three brothers, Reginald, George and Ralph. There will be no visiting hours or funeral service by request.The interment will take place at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, Beaconsfield, PQ. Carol I. Harrison 1940 - 2004 Carol Harrison of Reade Street, Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 8th, 2004, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bathurst on January 8th, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Hilda (Shirley) Buragla. Carol enjoyed working closely with the public and her staff as a work trainer and manager of Daisy's Clothing. She is survived by her sons, Jamie (Paula) of Upper Coverdale, Jody of Moncton; brothers, Tim (Rene) of Bathurst, Aldo of Naples Fla., Ronnie of Rome, Italy; sisters, Reta Lutes of Truro, Sandra Pinard of Montreal; grandchildren, Tyler, and Jared. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harley in 2000, brothers James (Buddy), Doug, and Claude. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, March 10th, from 7-9 pm. A Memorial service to celebrate Carol's life will be held on Thursday morning at 11 am, in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, followed by a reception in the Garden View Family Room. Ivan Daley STONEHAVEN, NB - Ivan Daley, 74, of Stonehaven, husband of Earline Daley, died Sunday (March 7, 2004) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Hartwell and Irene (Jagoe) Daley. He worked in fishing and at the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his wife, the former Earline Miller, he is survived by two sons, Keith Daley (Chantal) of Stonehaven, Richard Daley (Lorna) of Clifton; two daughters, Vivian Hitchman (Edward) of Lower Newcastle, Lois Scott (late Gary) of Moncton; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Hildred, Dorothy and Wanda. The body is resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday (March 11, 2004) from the Central United Church, Clifton, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Stonehaven Cemetery. CARTWRIGHT, FREDERICK JAMES (JOHN) F. J. (John) Cartwright, of Harvey Station passed away March 8, 2004 at Pine Grove, Fredericton. Born in England on April 2, 1916, he was a son of the late Frederick and Thursa (Mapstone) Cartwright. John was a veteran of the Second World War, serving as a navigator with the Royal Air Force. For a period of time during the war he trained Royal Canadian Air Force navigators in Canada. He moved to Canada in the 1950's and was employed in Toronto as an accountant. Following his retirement John moved to New Brunswick where he was involved with his community as a board member for the Harvey Community Hospital and later with the Region 3 Hospital Board. He was also a volunteer consultant for the Federal Business Development Bank. John is survived by his wife, Vivienne; a son Paul Cartwright; grandchildren, Alexis, Vanessa, Hilary and Daniel and daughters-in-law, Mary Radford and Wendy Cartwright. He was predeceased by a son, David in 1990. There will be no funeral service, but the family will receive visitors to celebrate John's life on Thursday, March 11, 2004 from 2 until 8 p.m. at the home of Paul Cartwright, 305 Frog Lake Road, Harvey. INKSTER, NINA RITA "NOREEN" (O'DONNELL) The death of Nina Rita "Noreen" (O'Donnell) Inkster of Fredericton, wife of the late John Inkster, occurred at the York Manor Nursing Home, Fredericton. Born in Ludlow, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Amelia (Hovey) O'Donnell. Noreen owned and operated the Inkster's Grocery on Argyle Street for many years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Noreen was predeceased by sisters Genevieve Clowater, Rosalie Armstrong, Hilda Weaver, H. Frances Sturgeon and Dorothy Perdue; and brothers James, Lancelotte, Ernest, Darcy, Stanley and Matthew. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, on Tuesday from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9PM. The Funeral Service will be held at the St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, on Wednesday at 11 AM. Rev. David Titus and Rev. John Carthcart will officiate. GEORGIE, LINDA JOYE (JUSTASON) - Peacefully, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto, ON, on Sunday, March 7, 2004, Mrs. Linda Joye (Justason) Georgie, beloved wife of Victor H. Georgie of Toronto, ON. Born in Pennfield, NB on November 1st, 1943, she was a daughter of Herbert and Florence (Bent) Justason of Pennfield, NB. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, she is survived, besides her husband, by one daughter, Sherri Lynn (Gregory) Pickering of Toronto, ON; one grandson, Cooper and one granddaughter, Kaitlynn, at home; her parents, Herb and Florence and one sister, Jill, all of Pennfield; two brothers, Leigh Justason of Bramalea, ON and Calvin (Dawn) Justason of Pennfield, NB; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held on Saturday, March 13th, 2004 at Lynett Frank Funeral Home, 3299 Dundas W., Toronto, ON, with interment in the Lepreau Community Cemetery at a later date. DURIE, Edith M., Passed away peacefully at the Shaver Hospital on Sunday, March 7, 2004 in her 87th year. Edith, beloved wife of the late Allan. Loving mother of Jean and her husband Bob Bowman, Barbara and her husband Ken Paxton, Bob Durie and his wife Sandi, and Susan and her husband Ted Kennedy. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Shara Bowman, Roberta and her husband Rob Irvine, Ken and Ted Durie and Grant Kennedy, and great-grandchild Tristan "T" Durie. Mrs. Durie was a long time memb er of Memorial United Church and she retired from the Right House Department Store in 1974. PURDY, John Robert (Jack), Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Linhaven Home for the Aged on Monday, March 8, 2004, in his 81st year. Jack, loving husband of Rose. Née à Montréal le 28 octobre 1915, elle était fille de feu Rosario Chagnon et de feu May Tellier. ANDERSON, EDITH MAE - In her 100th year, Edith Mae Anderson (Finlay) slipped away peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Anderson, loving stepmother of Phyllis Elliot Anderson Rivers, and cherished, as Dede, by her three step-granddaughters - Sally, Debby, Margot and families. Survived by her loving sister, Louise V. Fowler of Hampton and several nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents, sisters - Margaret, Anne, Hazel, and Greta, and brothers - Ralph and Harry. Edith will be fondly remembered by those who called the Admiral Beatty Complex their home, where she had resided since 1986. She was known for her almost daily visits to the City Market and Brunswick Square. An outstanding promoter of City Market produce, those who knew her had to have heard of Jeremiah's delicious barbecued chicken. We cherish her memory, remember her unique personality, and the strolls down memory lane with her. We thought the energizer bunny would never tire but earthly breath has ceased. GOODINE, DOROTHY GAYLE (HARDING) Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Hotel Dieu Hospital on March 8, 2004 went to meet her maker after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Gayle fought her battle with a smile and a faith that touched all who knew and met her. Born on June 10, 1945 in Tabusintac. She is the daughter of Wilbur and Dorothy Harding of Tabusintac. Wife of loving husband Gerald. Mom to three children Wayne (Chantal), Julie (Eric Tompkins) and Rhonda (Scott Edgar). Grammie to six precious little boys Derek, Shane (Goodine), Jayden, Brayden (Tompkins) and Evan, Adam (Edgar) all live local, sister to Hayward (Friend Charlene) of Tabusintac, Junior (friend Rita) of Fredericton and Wayne (Cecil) of Tabusintac, sister-in-law to Diane and Arlene both of Tabusintac, special Grammie Annie Harding of Plaster Rock, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. LYDON, WILLIAM - the death of William "Bill" Lydon of Halifax occurred in Halifax on Thursday, February 26, 2004. Mr. Lydon was born in Saint John, a son of the late Patrick and Winnifred (Kilmartin) Lydon. Bill graduated from St. Malachy's High School, studied at St. Thomas and St. Francis Xavier Universities and Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from TUNS (Dalhousie) in 1967 and Master of Architecture from Harvard in 1977. Bill was an army captain with the Royal Canadian Engineers, and later senior associate with ARCOP Associates of Montreal and Toronto. While with ARCOP he worked on the original restoration of Historic Properties in Halifax and underground levels of the World Trade Center in New York. He was a senior architect with Sir Hugh Wilson, London, England, and was the director of design for Toronto Harbour front. Following his move to Halifax in 1977, he worked on development plans for the Halifax, Dartmouth, and Sydney waterfronts. Bill was principal architect with Lydon Lynch, a firm established with Andrew Lynch in 1979. Lydon Lynch Architects have designed in Halifax, other points in Nova Scotia, and outside the province. Several of their projects grace Halifax's historic waterfront including the former Sheraton (now the Casino Nova Scotia Hotel), Casino Nova Scotia and Harbourside. Proud of his Irish heritage, Bill designed the Celtic Cross that sits on the newly minted St. Patrick's Green. Bill served on various committees and organizations including the National Capital Commission Advisory on Design (Ottawa), World Trade and Convention Centre (Halifax), the Charitable Irish Society and the Halifax Club, and volunteered design advice to numerous groups and individuals. Bill is survived by his wife, Rosalee (Grette) Lydon; one son, Christopher of Halifax; three sisters, Miss Nora and Miss Mary Lydon, and Kathleen (Conrad) Northrup, all of Saint John; two brothers, Michael and Paul (Linda) Lydon, both of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Basilica, Halifax. The William Lydon Memorial Scholarship has been set up for the School of Architecture, Dalhousie University.
