Rita Marie Deneault The family announces with sorrow her death at the South Centennial Manor in Iroquois Falls, Saturday, January 3rd, 2004, at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Garnet Deneault and dearest mother of Saunders (Wendy) Deneault of Iroquois Falls. Sister of Clayton (Noela) of Cochrane and Joyce of Pembroke. Mary Felice Melanson 1919 - 2004 The death of Mary Felice Melanson of Moncton occurred peacefully on January 3, 2004 at The Moncton Hospital. Felice was born in Moncton on September 7, 1919, the daughter of Anselme H. and Mary (O'Brien) Melanson. She was employed with the Superannuation Branch of Human Resources Development Canada upon her retirement. Felice is survived by one brother, Victor Melanson of Montreal; a nephew, Brian Melanson of Montreal; a niece, Karen (William) Jarvis of Moncton; her sister in law, Mrs. Virginia Melanson of Moncton; and by great nephew, John Jarvis of Toronto; and great-nieces Kathleen Jarvis of Halifax, Caroline Jarvis and Jennifer Jarvis both of Moncton; cousins and many good friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Raymond Melanson and Hubert Melanson and her sister, Estelle Melanson. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League of St Augustine's Parish; a life member of the Westmorland Historical Society and a life member of the National Federation of Public Service Employees. SAULNIER, Nelson John - 47. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nelson in London Health Sciences Centre, Ontario, on January 1, 2004. He passed away with his beloved wife, Penny (Moores), and his youngest sister, Theresa (Ransome) at his side. He is also survived by his sons, Bryce and Erik, who were lovingly cared for by their aunt Polly Moores during the last part of their Dad's illness. He was a son of Raymond and the late Jeanette (Theriault) Saulnier. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, Brian (Anne) Saulnier, Donna (James) Messenger, Kevin (Adele) Saulnier, Brent Saulnier, Jeanine (Bob) Thibodeau, all of Halifax; Theresa (Chris) Ransome, Port Dover, Ont., and their children Marc, Stephan, Thomas, Keenan, Jacqueline, Melissa, Scott, Joel, and Brendan, and also his stepparent, Gloria Saulnier. Nelson was a graduate of Halifax West High School and completed his BBA at Mount Saint Vincent University. He worked as an insurance adjuster for over 20 years Nelson loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting with his Dad, brothers and friends over the years. He was also a great hockey fan and played regularly until he was too ill to do so anymore. He was an avid movie fan and had a wonderful sense of humour. His great artistic talents were shared with all in the many gifts he created for family and friends in paintings and other artistic endeavors which were often completed late at night (as all who knew him well, knew he liked to burn the midnight oil), and it is evident that he has passed his love of hockey and his artistic talents on to his sons. He was a devoted husband and father. The family would like to thank all the people who so generously gave to support Penny to be able to travel to Ontario for the last part of Nelson's treatment, and also to thank the liver transplant teams both in Halifax and London, and the caring ICU staff in London as well. Donations will be forwarded to a trust fund for Bryce and Erik. Visitation will be in J. ST. JEAN, Lorenzo Rene' January 15, 1922 - January 2, 2004 With sadness in their hearts, the family of Lorenzo St. Jean of St. Albert, formerly of Legal, announces his passing away January 2, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lucienne and his children, Ronald (Madeleine) of St. Albert, Roger (Jennette) of Fort St. John B.C., Carmen (Ted) of Calgary and Doris of St. Albert. Lorenzo will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Chantal (Wade), Marc, Kris, Chelsea, Melanie, Lissa, Graeme, Nicola, Natalie (Vance) and his great-granddaughter Zoe. Raised in the Legal area, Lorenzo went east in his younger days and it was in Welland, Ontario that he met and wed Lucienne Lejeune of St-Magloire, Quebec. After spending two years in Ontario, the family returned to Legal where Lorenzo practiced the profession of partsman for International Harvester and later on for Norwest Automotive. LEVI, John Alfred, It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of John Alfred Levi on January 4, 2004 at the Linhaven Home for the Aged following a short illness. John was born in England in February 1920 and came to Canada with his parent s later in 1920. John lived in Beamsville prior to moving to St. Catharines in 1999. John served his country during WWII in the RCAF as a fighter pilot. Mr. Levi also served his community as the Police Constable for Clinton Township, as a member of t he Niagara Health Board and as Deputy Reeve. He worked at Albright Manor in Beamsville as well as Canadian Tire, but will be remembered by most in the area as the "Bicycle Man". Mr. Levi operated a bicycle repair shop from his home at the corner of G reenland and Lincoln Avenue in Beamsville for more than 30 years. John touched the lives of countless people during his time with us and we all would agree that our lives are better for having known him. John was predeceased by his father, Alfred of Beamsville in 1946, his mother, Mary (nee Legge) in 1980 and his sister Joan Traicoff of Grimsby in 2000. John will be missed by his wife of 58 years Lillian (nee Hildreth). He will be remembered forever as a loving, caring father by his daughters, S andi and husband David Moir of St. Catharines, Patricia Pollock Moscovitch and fiance Michael Barry of Mississauga, Marjorie and husband Ronald Snyder of Owen Sound. Born in South Porcupine, she married Taisto in Copper Cliff in 1942. She worked for the Town of Walden then for the City of Greater Sudbury for 20 years at the Walden Senior Citizen's Building, retiring in 2001. She was a Past President of the Walden Senior Citizens Club, a past member of the Water's Women's Institute and she was a former teacher with 4H. Ilma lived an active and engaged life, she enjoyed bowling. Beloved wife of Taisto Maki predeceased November 8th, 1986. DUMPIS, Robert In loving memory of Robert Dumpis, 83 years of Sudbury, who passed away Friday morning, January 2, 2004 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Center. He was born in Remte, Latvia and married Valija (Konrads) in 1949 in Hamilton. Robert came to Canada in 1947 settling in Sudbury in 1950. He had served as a fighter pilot in the Latvian Air Force during World War II. He was a smelter worker at the Copper Cliff Smelter, having 34 years at INCO, retiring in 1984. Robert was a member of the Sudbury Latvian Church and was a well-respected leader in the local Latvian community, having served as president for several years of the Latvian Relief Society (Daugavas Vanagi). He was given an award by the Sudbury Multicultural Association for his hard work and leadership. He was an avid reader. Robert was proud of his Latvian heritage and a passionate supporter of Latvia's liberation from the Soviet Union. Beloved husband of Valija (Konrads) Dumpis of Sudbury. Loving father of Andra Grant and Indulis Dumpis (wife Nancy) both of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Kristina Holmes (husband Cody), Kyle and Kelsey. Dear son of Krisus and Minna Dumpis predeceased. Dear brother of Alma and Karlis, both predeceased, and Liene, Krisjanis, Maigh, Laima and Janis all in Latvia. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. BALDWIN, Helen Doris - Passed away peacefully in her 89th year at Barton Manor in Hastings, Ontario, on December 28, 2003. Helen was predeceased by her husbands Frank Laurie and Frank Baldwin. She will be missed by her sons Frank and Jerry and daughter-in-law Nancy. She is survived by her sister of Jenny of Cleveland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Alieen and Eric in Cobourg. Helen was grandmother to Frank of Barrie, Kimberley of Toronto, Tyler and Renee of Edmonton and Travis and Kaily of Peterborough. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and a long time resident of Ennismore, Ontario, where she built and operated Camp Cleveland for many years. Her fondest memories were when the dining room was full of friends and guests sitting down to one of her famous meals. Helen made sure that no one ever left her table wanting or without a smile on their face. She will be remembered for this and by all the people whose lives she touched over the years. For her the dinner bell has rung for the last time, at least in this time and place. In respect of her wishes there will not be a service and she will be laid to rest with her husband Frank.
