DUFFY, MARGARET M. - The death of Margaret M. Duffy of 557 River Valley Drive, Grand Bay, wife of Richard U. Duffy, occurred unexpectedly at her residence on Sunday, November 16, 2003. Mrs. Duffy was born in Boston, a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Shannon) Stone, and had resided nearly all her life in the Saint John area. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Peter of Lincoln, N.B.; one daughter, Sandra Noel (Elmer) of Calgary; one sister, Marie "Peggy" McKinley (Eugene) of Riverview; one grandson, Patrick Duffy; two granddaughters, Shannon and Shawna Watterall; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. TODD, JOAN (GLADYS) - The death of Joan (Gladys) Todd occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 16th, 2003. Born March 9th, 1937 in Berwick, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Florence (Corkum) Seymour. Joan is survived by her loving husband, Grant Todd, one son, Ken and (Flora) Klempaler from Ontario, two daughters, Katie (Reg) Todd, Patti (Rick) Leroy, both of Saint John, one brother, Bill (Grace) Seymour of Barnesville, NB six grandchildren, Ashley, Jocelyn, Kassandra, Kailey, Kyle, and Corey, one aunt, Evelyn Millett of Halls Harbor NS, two nieces, Lynda Coulton and Frances Gillingham, one nephew, Brenton Seymour and several cousins. Joan belonged to the RCL #076 Norton Crib Club and was a member of the PC Party of NB and Canada . Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John NB. SEYMOUR, Marion "Kaniehtako:He" Age 79, of Cornwall Island, Ontario passed away Monday, November 17th, 2003 at 4:15 a.m. at her home. She had been in failing health for the past year. Marion was born February 13, 1924 on Cornwall Island, Ontario, the daughter of Mitchell and Mary Point Hopps. She attended school on Cornwall Island. She was self-employed at her home, making baskets and lacrosse sticks. She married Abraham J. Seymour on July 31, 1944 at the St. Regis Catholic Church. He predeceased her on October 26, 2002. Surviving are 11 children: Josephine Seymour, Julia & Dick Jacobs, Margaret & Sidney Laffin, Christie Beauvais, Liz Seymour, Rosemary Seymour, Florence Seymour, Barbara Seymour, Annette Seymour, and Rudy Seymour, all of Cornwall Island; and Rita & Gerald MacDermid of Maxville, Ont. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grand- children, a sister Elizabeth Hopps of Cornwall Island, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was pre- deceased by 2 sons: Wilfred in infancy on February 3, 1965 and Lawrence Gordon on December 5, 1965. Also predeceased by a grandson Chase Adam Seymour on May 27, 1989 and a granddaughter Selena J. Beauvais on January 20, 2003. Two sisters also predeceased her, Anna Hopps on November 15, 1989 and Harriet Thompson on January 2, 1992. Two brothers, Noah Hopps died on March 10, 1985 and Phillip Hopps died July 10, 1986. Marion was a member of the Wolf Clan. She always enjoyed softball and making baskets. She was a member of the Mohawk Nation Longhouse at the Racquette. Friends may call at her home starting at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 until 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse at the Racquette. Interment will follow at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse Cemetery on Cornwall Island. Irene M. Arsenault 1907 - 2003 Irene M. Arsenault, 96, formerly of Weldon St. Moncton, passed away at Villa du Repos on Sunday, November 16, 2003. Born in Moncton, NB on October 3, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Abel and Annie (Harnett) Thibodeau. She was a homemaker. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She will be missed by her two daughters, Margaret Cormier and Maureen Vautour both of Moncton; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a half sister, Melda Campbell of Saint John, NB as well as nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Arsenault in 1968 and by a daughter, Annie Meunier in 2003. As her personal request, there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. ADAIR, JOHN GERALD - John Gerald Adair passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at Chatham, Ontario. He had been receiving treatment for cancer. John is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Laurence (Yance), brother, Sterling, of Windsor, Ontario, half-brother, Freddie McKay, of Newcastle (now Miramichi Bay), New Brunswick, half-brother, James McKay, and half-sister, Frances, both of Vancouver, British Columbia. Also survived by brother-in-law, Jacques Levesque, sisters-in-law, Jennie Mulherin, Aline Martin, and Gerry Fournier - all of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and a number of nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews in Ontario and New Brunswick. John was born October 9, 1923 in Newcastle, New Brunswick. He graduated from Harkins High School in 1940, served two years in the Canadian Army, and was hired by Ford of Canada in 1942 as a General Labour employee. He attended classes at The University of Windsor, Wayne State University, and Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan. He retired in 1983 at which time he was Supervisor of Labour Relations in the Windsor plants of Ford Canada. Private cremation. McALLISTER, J. LLOYD - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 17, 2003, J. Lloyd McAllister of Lorneville, husband of Audrey (O'Neil) McAllister. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Campbell) McAllister. Lloyd worked for Trecartin Bros. for over 35 years as a salesman, then as sales manager until 1975 then he and two others purchased the company. Lloyd was appointed Vice President. He was active in sports and was an avid horseman. He attended schools in Lorneville and West Saint John, continuing his secondary education at Saint John High School and Vocational School. He was a member of the Lorneville United Church taking an active part having been Sunday School Superintendant and an elder as well. He was very active in the Orange Lodge Mount Purple #29 and was a past president of the County of Saint John L.O.L, a member of the Royal Scarlet Chapter, a member of the Royal Purple Preceptory of #62 and also a member of Courtney L.O.L #8. He received his 50 year pin from Mount Purple L.O.L #29. In 1952 he was elected as a Councillor for the Parish of Lancaster and took his seat as a member of the Municipal Council, a position he held for a period of 16 years until he became a member of the Common Council following Amalgamation on January 1, 1967. He worked hard for the construction of U.N.B. Saint John, the completion of the Harbour Bridge and contracts for the Saint John Dry Dock. In 1971 he was appointed to the New Brunswick Motor Carrier Board for 17 years. He has always been active politically for the Progressive Conservative Party. In 1981 he was appointed a member of the Power Commission of the City of Saint John. He served for a period of three years at which time he then became Deputy Chairman of the Board. Surviving in addition to his wife Audrey are two sons Keith and Kevin and his wife Sherry Wilson, two daughters Darlene Pollock and her husband Terrance of Campbellton, Lana Mott and her husband Gary of Saint John, two brothers Bev and his wife Marilyn and Everett and his wife Melvina both of Lorneville. Six grandchildren Brent and Jillian Pollock, Corey and Jennifer McAllister and Andrew and Angela Mott. Predeceased by an infant son, Paul Lloyd. Resting at the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701). Funeral service will be held at the "Fallsview" Chapel on Thursday November 20, 2003 at 1 pm. Interment in the Lorneville Cemetery. Visiting at "Fallsview" on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. CHARLETON, ALLEN J. - Allen J. Charleton of Hoyt died at the Oromocto Public Hospital on November 18, 2003 at the age of 81. Allen is survived by two daughters Debbie Easton (Charlie) of Wirral, Frances Perkins of Hoyt, four sons Harry Charleton (Judy) of Hoyt, David Charleton (Linda) of Welsford, George Charleton (Barb) of Hoyt, Gary Charleton (Shirley) of Enniskillen, one sister Frances Carr (Temple) of Hoyt, 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces, cousins and nephews. Allen was a tractor trailer driver, he held his certificate of qualification as a journeyman in the trade of motor vehicle repair (truck and transport). He is predeceased by his parents Mabel (Kirkpatrick) and John Charleton, his wife Dorothy Irene (Rennie) Charleton (Burton), four sisters and brothers-in-law Dora and Earl Cooper, Lena and Harry Banks, Dolly and Roy Gillett, Addie and Tom Parsons, one brother and sister-in-law Myles and Myrtle Charleton and son-in-law Dale Perkins. STONE, EDGAR CLARKE-At the QE Hospital, surrounded by his daughters, the death occurred peacefully of Edgar Stone, Rusticoville on November 12, 2003, age 85 years. Born December 3, 1918, He was the son of the late Ernest and Editha (Ingersoll) Stone of Grand Manan ,NB. Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Bradley), Brothers Bernard and Austin Stone, and Grandsons Adam and Brett. He is survived by his daughters Chrystal (David Feth), Vancouver, Twilah (Wayne MacKinnon), Charlottetown.One sister Ernestine (Stone) Worthen of Grand Manan, NB, his Granddaughter Marcelle, Vancouver and Great-granddaughter Sophie. Also by his former caregiver and best friend Sylvia. Mr. Stone was a veteran of WW2. The remains rested at Central Queens Funeral Home, New Glasgow, PEI. Services were held on Friday November 14,2003 conducted by Rev. E. Paul Wilkie. A legion service was also conducted. Interment in the New Glascow Cemetery.
