CURTIS, ELSIE JEANNETTE The death of Elsie Jeannette Curtis, formerly of Douglas, wife of the late Emerson (Dick) Curtis occurred on October 29, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born in Priceville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Edith (Price) Munn. She was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed watching cooking shows and baking. She is survived by two sons, Robert Curtis (Judith) of Nashwaaksis and Billy Curtis (Susan) of Charters Settlement; three daughters, Judith Knox (Brian) of Fredericton, Linda Waugh (Bill) of Carlisle Road and Cynthia Curtis of Bedford, NS; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; six brothers, Russell Wheeler (Elizabeth) of Boiestown, James Munn of Taxis River, Perley Munn of British Columbia, Carl Bruce (Joyce), Earl Bruce (Etta) and Lawrence Bruce all of Taxis River; two sisters, Edith Simond (Fraser) of Fredericton and Flossie Lovelace (Lawrence) of Taxis River; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Curtis was predeceased by one brother, Blake Bruce and one sister, Kay Getson. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Friday from 2 to 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 11 am from the York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, Fredericton, NB with Rev. R. T. Benson officiating. LACELLE, ANDREW OSGOOD At the age of 74 years, Andrew Osgood Lacelle, friend of Elizabeth Mott, Fairfield NB, peacefully passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 29, 2003. Born in Montreal, Andrew was the son of the late Noel and Lucille (Desmormeaux) Lacelle. Andy, fondly remembered by many as "Frenchy" enjoyed a long career as a heavy equipment operator, most recently until retirement from the I. L.A. at the Potash Terminal. In his spare time he enjoyed "tinkering" with his vehicles and especially enjoyed his time at his summer home in Chipman, NB, with his beloved dog Tacha. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Glenn) and survived by their daughter Cathy (Brian) Tyler and their children Andrew, Richard and Amber. He is also survived by his children from his first marriage; son, Robert Andrew Lacelle (Angie) and their children Cpl. Jason Lacelle (Beth), Emily Richard (Yvon) and Cheyenne Lacelle; son, Steven Lacelle and his daughter Danielle, Gail Lacelle and her children Jeffrey and Chelsey. Predeceased by sons Lindsay, Paul, Ricky and daughter Mary. Survived also by a brother Claude Lacelle (Serge Pellerin), Montreal, several great grandchildren, in-laws and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother PaulEmile and his sisters Noella and Carmen. Visitation will be held at the A.W. MILLIGAN, Audrey ("Babs"), Peacefully on October 28, 2003 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, having suffered multiple myeloma with remarkable grace and courage for some 10 years. Beloved wife of Victor and much loved by her step-sons Jeffrey M illigan (Toronto), Michael Milligan, his wife Roberta and son Alexander (New Hampshire); by step-son Jeffrey Morrow, his wife Cheryl and children Kendall, Dale and Alex (British Columbia); by her sisters Maureen Stewart, Ena Millar and husband Herbie (Northern Ireland); by her sister Lady Dorothy Thompson and her husband Sir Gilbert (England); by her sister-in-law Jill Twomey (London, Ontario) and her family; by her nephews, nieces and their families in North America, Ireland, England and Austra lia: by her close friends in Oakville, St. Catharines and Georgian Bay, where she formerly lived and by her many friends in Longboat Key, Florida where she spent many happy winters. All who knew her remember her great tenderness and compassion, her p assion for tennis in earlier days and later for golf, her love of song which accompanied even the most difficult task and, most of all, they treasure her concern for others. RUSSELL, CORA ETHEL ELIZABETH - At the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, N.B. on October 29, 2003, Cora Ethel Elizabeth (Sutton) Russell of Martinon, wife of the late Nickoli (Nick) Russell. Born in Summer Hill, Queens Co. on October 18, 1906, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Eliza Beatrice (Wilson) Sutton. Mrs. Russell lived most of her life in the Saint John area and was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She is survived by one son, Ivan N. Russell and his wife Roberta of Kemptville, Ontario; two daughters, Beatrice Armstrong and her husband Harold of Roachville, N.B., Joyce Mersereau and her husband Elmer of Martinon; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her sister Blanche Armstrong, brothers Bentley and Willie Sutton. Resting at the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue (634-1701). THORNE, GORDON MAURICE WILLIAM - Unexpectedly, at his residence, the death of Gordon Maurice William Thorne, of St. George, NB, occurred on October 27, 2003, husband of Bonnie (Shephard) Thorne. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB on August 23, 1960, he was a son of Phyllis (Carr) Thorne and the late Darrell M. J. Thorne. A loving husband and father, Maurice is survived by his wife, Bonnie, five children, Glendon, Gordie, Lauza, Harry and Maurice; three sisters, Kim (Larry) Vance, Tammy (Phillip) Voutt, and Beverley (Jean Rock) Bernard; one brother, James Allen Thorne; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Maurice had been employed as Operations Manager with Silver Hatchery for nine years. A memorial service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the funeral home on Saturday, November 1st at 2 pm. Interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. MILLER, HARRY WALTER - The death of Mr. Harry Walter Miller of Bains Corner, occurred peacefully at his home on October 28, 2003. Born August 20, 1927 in Rothwell, NB he was the son the late Irvine and Mary Jane (McDonald) Miller. Harry was a Welder/Pipefitter by trade for 35 plus years. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Merchant Navy from 1944-1945; serving also with the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada Black Watch Private 1953-1956; he was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 63 in St. Martin's; a member of Pipe Fitters Local 213 for 32 years, Salmon River Fishing Association. Harry had a passion for Music, especially playing his guitar, he played guitar with Chuck Jones on CHSJ, he also loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his sons Rick Miller of Saint John, Danny Miller (Joyce) of Bains Corner, Jack (Lynn) of Saint John, Timmy Miller (Kim) of Bains Corner, Troy Miller (Tracey) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Randy Miller (Lylene) of Edmonton, AB; daughter Bonny Miller (Ed Glaspy) of Rothesay; brothers Bob Miller of Lower Coverdale, Fred Miller (Marion) of Regina, SK, Murray Miller (Jean) of Minto, Melvin Miller of Renous, NB, and Orland Miller (Wanda) of Newcastle Creek, NB; sister Jean Miller of Saint John; 19 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one expected; as well as many nieces and nephews. CHAPMAN, JAMES HARVEY The death of James Harvey Chapman of Minto, NB, occurred Wednesday,October 29, 2003 at the Queen's North Health Complex, Minto, NB. Born in Emerson, Kent Co., he was the son of the late Sylvanis and Enid (Fairfield) Chapman. Jimmy was a Sargent Major serving with the North Shore Regiment during WWII. A retired dragline operator, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 12, the Grand Lake Masonic Lodge and the Orange Lodge. Survived by his loving wife Kathryn (Tissington) Chapman of Minto; a son, Rodney Chapman (Karen) of Albrights Corner, a step-son, Kim Stilwell (Nancy) of Oromocto; two step-daughters, Carla Carney (Rodney) of St. Andrews and Jocelyn Boucher (Emile) of Minto; two sisters, Bessie Briggs (Charlie) of Saint John and Doris MacDonald (Hazen) of Nackawic; a speical niece Bernice Coburn (Ervine) of New Zion; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Kristopher Chapman; six step-grandchildren, Melissa, Talia and Logan Carney, Kendra, Brandon and Nicole Boucher and Hilary Stilwell. BARTLETT, FREDA - Mrs. Freda Bartlett, of Smith Creek, passed away on October 29, 2003, at the age of 59. Freda was the daughter of the late Maurice and Margaret (Benson) Robinson. CRANE, Muriel Agnes- Peacefully on October 28th, 2003 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 92. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on April 11, 1911. Predeceased by her parents Darcy and Isabel Crane. Lovingly remembered by her cousin and good friend Louise Thomas and the Thomas children, Karen, Norman and Mark. Special Thanks to Elizabeth Riselli for all of her kindness and attention, and to faithful friends and visitors Theresa Carrol and Pat Mickle. Muriel always provided the history for the Crane family and much about the Niagara Region. She was part of a large contingent of Canadian women who enrolled in Memorial Hospital nurses training school in Niagara Falls, New York. After graduation she found work in the Institute of Opthamology at the Presbyterian Medical Centre in New York City and two years later, back at Memorial Hospital as head nurse of pediatrics. In 1941 she left to become an army nurse and stayed in the service for five years, leaving the service as a captain in the U.S. Nurses Corporation. Age 85. Of Hilden, Nova Scotia. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerry Bruce on Monday, October 27, 2003 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Antigonish in 1918, he was a son of the late Charles and Sadie (Mason) Bruce. Gerry was a member of the Canadian based radar airforce squadron stationed in Britain. He received a degree in Mining Engineering in 1949 from Acadia University in Wolfville. He worked in the mines in Nova Scotia and for the C.N.R. in Moncton, New Brunswick. Gerry moved his young family to Ontario and worked for the Board of Transport Commissioners in Ottawa. He then moved to Nova Scotia in 1989 where he spent his wonderful retirement years "down on the farm". He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Lila (Lively) (Saunders); children, Valerie Paddon (Paul), Rob Bruce (Mary-Anne), both of Belleville, Ontario, Lynn West (Eugene), Calgary, Alberta. He will be sadly missed by his stepchildren, Dave Saunders, Tom Saunders, Brian Saunders (Heather), Andrew Saunders (Tracy) all of Hilden, Randy Saunders (Sharon), Saint John, New Brunswick. He was a dear grandpa to 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his loving first wife, Edna (Morris). Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Cullum: Robert Kelly "Relish" 1967 - 2003 Kelly passed away tragically on Friday, October 24, 2003 along with his brother Morgan and his cousin Kevin. Taken away from all who loved them far too soon. He will be sadly missed and loved until we meet again. Kelly was born in Drayton Valley on April 15, 1967 and resided in the Drumheller Valley. Kelly was an avid outdoor and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. He also enjoyed working with his hands and driving trucks and was known always as a person who would give rather than receive. Most of all Kelly enjoyed spending time with his children and family. Most people knew Kelly as an individual who would relish the moment that was upon him. Kelly "Relish" will be deeply missed and loved. Kelly is survived by his two sons Donovan (6), Derrick (5) and his daughter Lexandra (4); his mother Helen Cullum; five sisters Lila (Nick) Luka, Connie Misson, Janice (Lorne) Gerk, Shirley (Stephen) Hayes, Kim (Paul) Richard; one brother, Donnie (Chrystalyn) Cullum; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Friedley: Ken 1946 - 2003 It is with great sadness that we, his children, announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, Ken Friedley, in the early morning hours of October 18, 2003 on his farm south of Delia. Dad was born November 22, 1946 in Calgary, one of three children to Clifford and Marguerite Friedley. The family farmed at DeWinton, Alberta until 1956 when they moved back to Delia to the Julson farm south of Delia. Dad took his schooling in Delia, and spent his life in the Delia area. He loved his children and was the best dad a kid could ever have. His love for hockey drove him to put all three boys in hockey since they were old enough to stand. He would drive through a blizzard just to make sure they got to practice. He also loved to build and fly his hobby planes and helicopters. It was amazing how much time dad would put into an airplane just to take it up for one flight and see it hit the ground. Dad loved the Handhills, he never understood why anyone would want to leave. He would wake up in the morning and look out the window to see the sun coming up over the hills and his day would start. He would have it no other way. Dad is survived by his loving children, Tiffannie, Tayller, Tahner and Tyson; sister Yvonne, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Dad was predeceased by his mother and father, Clifford and Marguerite, and brother Donald. A celebration of Dad s life was held on October 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Delia Community Hall with Rev. Harold Hunter officiating. His burial was at the Delia Cemetery by Courtney-Winter s Funeral Home, Drumheller. Hassett: Kay (Henrietta Kathleen) (nee: Burness) 1911 - 2003 Kay Hassett was born on August 27, 1911, in Wadena, Saskatchewan, one of five children. Kay attended Normal School in Regina and went on to teach school until marrying Walter Hassett. Kay and Walter lived in Saskatchewan until 1949 when they moved to Drumheller, bought City Dairy, and their home on 2nd Avenue. Kay eventually returned to teaching and taught Grade 5 in Drumheller for many years. She and Walter were very involved with the community including the Elks and the Royal Purple, the Rotary, and Knox United Church. Kay was predeceased by Walter, her loving husband of more than 65 years. She is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Margaret Code and Sylvia Shaw (Gilbert); five grandchildren, Laura Grift (Gary), Donna Code Castillo (Rene), Linda Code, Sarah Shaw, Andrew Shaw; one great grandson Quetin Code (Shannon); and one great-great granddaughter Angelina Code. KIMPEL, Robert, At home with his family, on Monday, October 27, 2003, in his 59th year. Loving companion of Sue LaLiberty. Cherished father of Bobby. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Alysa and Robert, and step-sons Mike and Darcy LaLiber ty. Robert is survived by his mother Margaret, by his brothers Terry (Debbie) and Francis, and sisters Debbie (Mike), Pat (George) and Mary, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Kelly (1992), his father Norman, and brothers Donni e and George. Robert was an employee of General Motors for over 20 years, he was a member of the C.A.W. MILK, Marjorie (Peggy) - (nee Cameron), formerly of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Passed away on October 27th, 2003 in Akron, OH, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob Milk, four children, and their spouses, and eleven grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Mandeville, of Atlanta, GA, and Ruth Hetherington (Bob) of Niagara Falls, ON. She was the Aunt of Stacey Mandeville of GA, Sue Fletcher, Barb Deschamps, Lynn Taylor, Peter Hetherington, and Joy Popadinac of ON. She was predeceased by her parents Bob and Margaret Cameron. A memorial service will be held in Akron OH on Monday, November 3, 2003.

Gill: Mildred Myrtle 1903 - 2003 Mildred Myrtle Gill passed away peacefully Sunday, October 26, 2003 at Drumheller Continuing Care at the age of 100 years and 7 months. Mildred was born in Molesworth, Ontario on March 17, 1903 to Peter and Mildred Leppard. After coming west as a young woman, she married Charles Gill in 1936. They lived in Raymond for a few years and later farmed at Millicent and Caroline. When Mildred was left a widow in 1954, she moved her young family to Newcastle (Drumheller) to be closer to other family members. In order to support herself and her family, she cooked in many of our local restaurants. Mildred loved to cook, knit, crochet, play crib and her flowers (especially African Violets). Mildred lived in her own little house in Newcastle until approximately 12 years ago when failing health forced her to reside in the nursing home and later on, continuing care. Mildred is survived by her son Russ (Carol) of Drumheller, and daughters Mary Kropenski of Abbotsford, B.C. and Kay Howard of Pine Lake, AB. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. There are also numerous nieces and nephews surviving to cherish memories of Mildred. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1954, a son Jerald in 1948, a son Lester in 1993, a daughter Alice Simpson in 1966, and daughter Myra Scott in 1989, as well as four brothers and four sisters. Her greatest joy was her visits from family. She will long be remembered by many people whose lives she touched. Private interment will be held prior to funeral services at Knox United Church, Thursday, October 30 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Hunter presiding. In Mildred s memory, donations may be made to Drumheller Continuing Care.

Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27th, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in his 90th year. Born July 27, 1914 in Wyman, Quebec. Beloved husband of the late Mary Flora Graham (nee MacDonell).
