1928-2003 Entourée d'êtres chers, le 27 octobre 2003 s'éteignit paisiblement madame Graciela Calderon, épouse de feu Humberto Drouillas. Son courage et l'endurance vis à vis une courte mais pénible maladie témoignent des qualités humaines qui ont caractérisé sa vie. D'origine chilienne, Chela demeurait à Sherbrooke depuis 25 ans. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, David Gordon Munz made his final journey on Saturday, October 25th, 2003 at the age of 60. Cherished husband for thirty-nine years of Ivy Maxine (nee Hobbs). Adored father of Krista Munz (Michael Phillips) and Tracey Munz-Paisley (Troy Paisley). Devoted and playful papa to his boys, Liam David and Owen Conner Paisley. Dear son of Mildred (nee Mielke) and the late Victor Munz. Brother of Keith (Sharon), Greg (Lois) and Eric (Gayle). Beloved nephew of Fred Munz, Norma, Ella and Lola (nee Mielke). Also survived by his nieces and nephews who will always treasure fond memories of "Uncle Dave". David will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by the many friends and colleagues whose lives he touched with his kind heart and gentle spirit. Born in Memramcook, she was the daughter of the late Edouard Dupuis Elodie LeBlanc. She is survived by her husband Laurie Melanson; one daughter, Linda (Jimmy) Powers of Memramcook; one son, Roger Melanson of St-Joseph; two sisters, Doris (Angus) Leslie of Hamilton, ON, Aurore (Laurie) Poirier of Memramcook; two brothers, Lionel (Alma) Dupuis of Salsbury, Romeo (Maria) Dupuis of Hamilton, ON; two grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Eveline, Bernadette and one brother Leandre. WATTERS, HELEN E. - Helen E. Watters passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, October 27, 2003 at Protem Health Services in Moncton. Helen moved from her home in Sussex to the wonderful care of the staff at Protem Residence in the summer of 2001. Helen was born at Model Farm, NB on April 24, 1924, the only child of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Warman) Marr. Helen was married for 51 years to the late Donald J. Watters. She was an active member of Trinity Anglican Church and a faithful volunteer for many community services. Helen is survived by her son James and wife Nancy Grieve Watters of Fox Hill, twin daughters Sheila Watters of Sussex and Sharon Posner of Lynwood, New Jersey, seven grandchildren, Seamus, Anna, Ian and Ellen Watters, Lena and Brian Posner and Michelle Demsey. Helen was predeceased by an infant son, Richard Edward Watters. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 30th, 2003 at 11 AM at Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex, with Reverend David Barrett officiating. Frank Allen 1922 - 2003 The death of Frank Allen, of Woodlawn Drive, Moncton, occurred at his residence on Sunday October 26, 2003. Born in Bedfordshire, England on September 20, 1922 he was the son of Raymond and Ellen Kathleen (Dickins) Allen. Prior to his retirement he was employed with Maritime Cooperative Services for over thirty years. He was a member of Uplands United Baptist Church. Frank is survived by his daughter Anne Buttenshaw (Hugh) of England; his brothers, William (Edith) of River Glade; Tom of Salisbury; his stepchildren, Susan McKay of Cherryfield and Terry Atkinson of Moncton; his sister-inlaw, Shirley Allen (late George) of Riverview; several nieces, nephews; grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Selma Potter; his second wife, Hattie Lounsbury and his brother George. CAVANAUGH, GLENNA I. The passing of Glenna Isabel Cavanaugh of Fredericton, widow of the late Lloyd G. Cavanaugh, occurred Monday, October 27, 2003. She was 76. Born in Stanley, NB, she was a daughter of the late Justus and Margaret (London) McConnell. Glenna was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by two sons, Michael of Fredericton and David (Nathalie) of Hanwell; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Scott whom she loved and was very proud of. Also survived by a brother Ralph McConnell (Elaine) of Fredericton. Predeceased by her parents; her husband; brothers Mac, Willard and Roy McConnell and a sister Marjorie Malone. SPROUL, HILDA MARQUIS (NEE DICKSON) The death of Hilda Marquis Sproul occurred at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton on October 27th, 2003. Born in Centre Napan, NB, on December 16th, 1903, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Ellen (Marquis) Dickson and wife of the late Harry Parker Sproul. Hilda was a graduate in nursing from the Miramichi Hospital in 1926. She was the first Director of Nursing at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home. She was a member of Saint Andrew's United Church, Miramichi, a member of Saint Paul's United Church Women's Organization, Fredericton, and an Honorary Member of the Miramichi Rebekkah Lodge. Hilda was always praised for her quality and dedicated nursing service. Her hospitality and kindness to others will always be remembered. Hilda was a very devoted and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and the lessons in life that she instilled in each one of us will never be forgotten. Survived by one daughter, Betty (Jack) Fitzpatrick of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Sandra (Jason) Ing, John (Patricia) Fitzpatrick, Hugh (Ann Marie) Fitzpatrick, Mark (Lynn) Fitzpatrick, and Glen (Beth) Fitzpatrick; twelve great-grandchildren, Kristy, Jennifer, Lori, Heather, Kelly, Matthew, Kaitlin, Laura, Simon, Jennifer, Megan, and Gregory. FLETCHER, CLAYTON E. "DICKIE" - Clayton E. Fletcher, 79, died October 27, 2003 at a St. Stephen, N.B. Hospital. Born at Head Harbor, Wilson's Beach, Campobello Island, N.B. February 29, 1924 the son of Roy and Gertrude (Lank) Fletcher. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, Life member and Past Commander of the Stuart-Greene Post #65 American Legion of Lubec. Clayton is predeceased by his wife June (Cumberland) Fletcher, a brother Raymond, two sisters Roma Fletcher and Edna Daigle. Surviving are his daughter Christine Ann Chute and her husband Harvey of Campobello, two granddaughters Rhonda Cook and her husband Graham and children, and Heather Mitchell and her husband Dennis and children all of Campobello. Two brothers Sheldon Fletcher of Campobello, Wilfred Fletcher of White Head, N.B. One sister Annie Curry of Marysville, N.B. Several nieces and nephews. Wes was born at Goshen, Queens County on April 2, 1918 only child of the late Wellesley and Lena (Williams) Simpson. Wes is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hilda (Wright) Simpson; children Marion and Alvin Belliveau, Paulette and Al Arseneau, Wayne and Lisa Simpson, Louella Ross and friend Joe, Bernadette and Randy Sears, Sheena and Harold Baskin, special son-in-law Bobby Ross; grandchildren Janice, Jason, Scottie, Trisha, Sally, Amber, Ryan, Nicholas, Jordan, Sara and Hannah and great grandson Ethan. DOYLE, JAMES "JIM" - 74, of Caron Dr., Bathurst, died Sunday (October 26, 2003) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst. Born in Dipper Harbour, NB, he was the son of the late Peter Joseph and Clara (Kelly) Boyle. Jim worked at Eddy Hardware from 1955 - 1994. Jim was an active member of this church and community. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1935, and past Grand Knight in Amherst, NS. He was and active member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association of New Brunswick, Bathurst Chapter acting as President and playing a large role in having the Celtic Cross erected. He was a member of St. Mary's Cemetery Committee and the Bathurst Committee for Seniors Citizen Housing. He also served on the Pastoral Council at St. Theresa parish. He was associated with the Bathurst District Boy Scouts for many years. Besides his wife, the former Helen Hanlon, he is survived by: one Son: Peter Joseph Boyle (Hyoshin Kim) of Seattle, WA, USA three Daughters: Theresa "Terri" Hanlon (Dennis) of St. John's NF Darlene Boyle of New Westminster, BC Nancy LeBlanc (late Yves) of Arichat, NS one Sister: Margaret "Peggy" Lidstone (late Norman) of Dipper Harbour, NB one Brother: Ralph Boyle (Margaret) of Saint John five Grandchildren; Meaghan, Thomas, Colum, Alexandra, Jesse, and several nieces and nephews. BENNETT, DONALD F. - The death of Donald F. Bennett, widow of the late Mary (Stanton) Bennett, occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Sunday, October 26, 2003. Mr. Bennett was born in Saint John, a son of the late Albert and Catherine (Murphy) Bennett. He had served overseas as a pilot with the R.C.A.F. for five years during the Second World War. He was a longshoreman and had been a member of I.L.A. Local 273 until his retirement a number of years ago. He was a lifelong resident of the South End and was a former President of the City Market Seniors Club. He had been an amateur boxer in his youth. He is survived by his companion of 26 years, Margaret P. Maxwell of Saint John; one nephew, Mike Bennett of Montreal; two nieces, Karen Parks of B.C., and Cean Legere of Victoria, B.C.; and a sister-in-law, Doris Bennett of B.C.
