Peacefully in his hometown of Kanturk, County Cork, Ireland, Saturday, August 30, 2003. Patrick J. O'Keeffe in his 78th year. He is survived by his loving wife Maidi Kelly of Ottawa and predeceased by his first wife Catherine O'Keeffe (nee Flahive). He will be sadly missed by his children Michael (Barbara Brockmann), Mairead Dickenson (Bill), Patrick (Stacey). Loving and proud grandfather of Scott, Christopher, Aidan and Kathleen. Dear brother of Anne, Madge, Betty and Con. Fondly remembered by Robert Kelly (Sandra), Patrick Kelly (Donna), Christopher Kelly (Krista) and their children. He is interred at Kilroe Cemetery, Kanturk. Patrick served in the RAF during the Second World War, and enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Australian, British and Canadian Labour movements. He was Director of CUPE Ontario and served for 26 years as a member of the Ontario Labour Relations Board. He also served as a Vice President of the OFL and was appointed a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 4, 2003 in St. Margaret Mary's Church, Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. donations to the Parkinson's Society appreciated.

Hodge: Brian 1951 - 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, Brian Thomas Hodge, on September 10, 2003. Brian was born on August 18 of 1951, in Drumheller, AB. He attended Morrin School, graduating in 1969, and continued on to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, AB. He returned to the family farm in 1971, where he joined his father and pursued his other interests of rodeoing and curling. In 1973, he moved to the Big Valley area, where he helped to expand the family farm. On December 2, 1978, he married his wife, Joanne, in Drumheller. Thus they started their twenty-four and a half years together farming in the Rumsey/Big Valley area. There they raised their two children, Tyrel Jackson Hodge, born on November 29, 1980, and Raynell Cristine Hodge born on April 7, 1984; both born in Drumheller. Brian's first love was bull riding through which he competed in the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association from 1972-78. Placing eleventh in the standings in 1977, he narrowly missed qualifying in the Canadian Finals Rodeo. Brian finished his bull riding career at the Calgary Stampede in 1978. After hanging up his bull riding spurs, Brian and his wife, Joanne, began competing in the Central Alberta Team Roping Association. In 1988, they competed in the Alberta and Canadian Team Roping Finals in Grande Prairie where they placed in the top five. In the winter, Brian excelled at curling, winning many bonspiels, and at the peak of his career in 1995, he competed in the zone playdowns, held in Rumsey, AB. There, he won the right to compete in the Southern Alberta Playdowns where he and his team were noted to be the "Lesser Lights" of the playdowns. Against all odds, he continued on to win a berth in the Safeway Select Provincial Playdowns in Edmonton, AB. He curled in the Canadian Cattlemen's Association for many years, and once again he was victorious, winning the bonspiels in 2000 and 2001. During the summer months, most of his spare time was spent on the golf course with his many friends and his family, and once again he never failed to win various tournaments. Brian was involved in many clubs and sports: Rumsey/Rowley 4H, Big Valley Elks, baseball and hockey, he was an accomplished skier and card player, and enjoyed visiting friends all over Alberta. It seemed that no matter which town you drove into, he always seemed to know someone... and if he didn't, he would ask. Brian is survived by Joanne, his devoted and loving wife, his children, Tyrel Hodge of Sylvan Lake, and Raynell Hodge of Calgary; sisters Maureen (Lorne) Howard of Innisfail, Peggy (Jim) Freeman of Olds, Marianne Hodge of Vulcan, Joanne (Richard) Schinnour of Drumheller, Gloria (Fred) Adams of Caroline, Betty (Tim) Primrose of Rumsey; brother Doug (Lorna) Hodge of Rumsey; mother-in-law Shirley Ilcisin of Drumheller; sisters-in-law Sharon (Phil) Wright of Red Deer, Sheila (Bruce) Hendriks of Australia, and Karen Sanchez of Calgary; and many nieces and nephews, and great nephew. He is predeceased by his mother, Beulah (1996), his father, Aubrey Hodge (1998), father-in-law, Joseph Ilcisin (1996), and niece, Christina (1984). (nee McKinnon) (formerly Booth, MacKay-Smith) Perhaps her names alone are an indication of the extent she affected her family, her parents, a beloved brother, 3 husbands, 2 sons, 8 step-children, numerous grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, born this September 15th. With great sense of loss, Marjorie's family announce her passing on Sunday September 28th. She was predeceased by her three beloved husbands, C. Rowley Booth, Stuart A. MacKay-Smith and Arne Blyberg. She is survived by her sons John (Wendy) Booth and Bill (Jules) Booth, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, along with seven stepchildren, their spouses, their children and grandchildren. "Grammy" delighted in her ever growing family. Always a true lady, Marjorie faced her last challenging years the same way she lived her whole life - with dignity, elegance and an undaunted spirit. There ever was a sparkle in her eyes. An Ottawa native, she lived most of her life in this city and her lovely home in Montebello. She spent 26 winters in Marco Island, Florida with Arne, swimming, playing golf and participating in community and Church services. She was a life member of the Royal Ottawa Golf Club. Marjorie will be best remembered for her love of entertaining, golf, swimming, dancing and a keen interest in her extended family. Her volunteer contributions in Ottawa were numerous including The Ottawa May Court, The Ottawa Day Nursery, The Red Cross, The Ottawa Womens' Canadian Club and several Foundations. A special thanks to the caring staff of the New Edinburgh Square, Rabo Health Care, and the VON. Donations to the VON would be greatly appreciated. Born in Berry, Vermont, U.S.A., he was the son of the late Alfred (Fred) LeBlanc and late Vitaline Dupuis. He worked as an Bricklayer and Mason until retirement. He is survived by his wife, Marie Lucie (Allain) LeBlanc; two daughters, Simonne (Gerard) Boudreau of La Hetriere, Paula (Dale) LeBlanc of StJoseph; one son, Leo LeBlanc of Memramcook East; two sisters, Jeannette McLaughlin of Moncton, Anna (Omer) Bourgeois of Little Dover Road; three brothers, Fr. Lewis Mitchell (Mickey) Clark passed away at the age of 79 years, peacefully in the hands of his family on September 10, 2003, following a valiant battle with cancer. Mickey served in the Air Force as a young man, then farmed for many years in the Hussar area. He served his community for many years coaching baseball, as a 4-H leader in the Hussar Beef Club, a municipal councillor in the County of Wheatland and later as M.L.A. for the Drumheller Constituency for eight years. He was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Sherrill; son Neil (Jardi); grandchildren, Nevada, Tanner, Colton and Dustin whom he dearly loved and watched grow with such great pride; brother Lloyd as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Woodrow in June 1930, sisters Virginia in October 1993 and Margaret in September 2001. Interment services were held on Monday, September 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Bassano Cemetery. Funeral services followed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Hussar at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Hussar Community Hall. Sibbald: Perce 1913 - 2003 Perce passed away quietly Tuesday evening, September 16, 2003 in Drumheller Continuing Care surrounded by members of his family. Born in Stoughton, Saskatchewan on October 29, 1913, Perce was the second of five boys born to O.G. and Margaret Sibbald. He is survived by his children; Judy (Louis) Lamothe of Spruce Grove; Wendy (Allan) Siebel of Munson, Bruce (Denise Zubko) of Sherwood Park, Blair (Ann) of Spruce Grove, Marylea (Frank) Lowen of Drumheller, Dianne Sibbald of Sherwood Park and grandchildren; Greg and Valerie Lamothe, Jocelyn McDowell, Garth (Sandra) Siebel, Graeme (Suzie) Seibel, Steven (Chris) Seibel, Shauna (Darcy) Jensen, Matthew, Cameron and Robyn Sibbald; Heather, Patrick, Jennifer and Michael Sibbald; Chris (Heather) Lowen, Camille (Jamie) Leblanc, Amber Lowen, Kelly McDowell; and seventeen great-grandchildren; Daniel, Jeffrey and Christopher Seibel, Kameron and Devin Seibel, Taylor and Matthew Seibel, Laura, Katie and Eric Jensen, Zachary and Julianna McDowell, Emily, Mackenzie and Ethan Lowen, and Brady and Kassidy Leblanc. Also surviving are one brother, George (Jean) Sibbald of Saskatoon, sisters-in-law; Helen McDonald of Calgary, Letty Sibbald of Drumheller, Pearl Sibbald of Munson, and many nieces and nephews. Perce was predeceased by his parents, O.G. and Margaret Sibbald, his wife Winona, three brothers, Orman, Ken and Ernie and two infant great-grand-daughters, Kristen and Katherine Seibel. Reviewing the previous list of names is a little like reciting the book of Genesis but family was what Perce was all about. He worked very hard to provide for his family, taking several jobs to assure that they were well cared for. As well as farming land adjacent to the town of Munson, he also installed propane stoves, performed Sheriff duties, drove school bus and cleaned the school in Munson. When the position of grain-buyer for the UGG became open in the mid-fifties, he took that job and spent a few decades serving the farming community of Munson. He also served for some time as secretary-treasurer for the Big Country Gas Co-op and the Senior's Lodge in Drumheller. Perce was very good with his hands and left many examples of his handmade furniture: a tall 'Grandmother' clock, many footstools, intricate fretwork, picture frames, cross-stitch, hooked rugs and the likes. Having renovated their first house across the street from the Munson United Church, as well as the UGG house, he went on to build their final home in Munson which he and Winona left in 1994 to take up residence in the Seniors' cottages in Drumheller. Dad had an acute awareness of what he considered to be his community responsibilities, serving the village as secretary-treasurer for many years. He was active in the United Church and in his later years was also in on the ground floor planning and building for the now-famous Passion Play in Drumheller. Another of Perce's interests was music. He always encouraged the family members in their musical endeavors and even spent several of his middle years playing the trombone in the local band in Rosedale. He enjoyed singing and sang in several church and community choirs. In his middle years, he came across a replica of the first car he ever owned, a 1926 Chev, and spent several years restoring everything from the chassis on up to the upholstery. Perce will be remembered as a man of high principles..both for himself and for his family. In the words of a birthday card bought in readiness for his upcoming 90th birthday: If these walls could talk, they would speak of a man Who has worked with great heart to accomplish his plan. They'd speak of the times that he s prayed in the night For the strength to go on and to do what is right. They'd speak of sweet moments of laughter and fun, The times with his children, his love for each one. Oh, if they could talk, it would just be the start Of a story of love; a great man and his heart. Memorial Services were held at the Knox United Church on Saturday, September 20, 2003 with Reverend James Clark officiating. Together in death as they were in life, Perce was interred with his wife, Winona in the Munson Cemetery following the service with family and friends in attendance. Courtney-Winter s Funeral Chapel was in charge of the funeral arrangement. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation or to a charity of their choice.
