GOUTHREAU, Sister Genevieve-103, formerly Sister Mary Bonaventure, a Sister of Saint Martha, Antigonish, died in Bethany, the Motherhouse, Monday, June 23, 2003, in her 80th year of her religious life. Born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, second oldest in a family of 11, she was a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mary Sophia (White) Gouthro. Sister Genevieve entered the Sisters of Saint Martha, April 24, 1922. She ministered in the pioneering field of homemaking, serving at St. Augustine Seminary, Toronto, Ont.; Little Flower Institute, Sydney, and in our convents in St. Andrew's, Heatherton, Trenton, and St. Peter's; and at St. Martha's Convent, on St. Francis Xavier University Campus, Antigonish, St. Rita Hospital, Sydney and at Bethany since 1975 remaining active until 1998. She served as community leader in two convents for a total of nine years. She is survived by sisters, Hilda, Rhode Island, U.S.A.; Irene MacKinnon, North Sydney; Marie Dinaut, Truro. She was predeceased by sisters, Olive, Sister Carmella, SC., and Sister St. Gilbert, SBA; brothers, Bernard, Clifford, Elmer and Hilton. The remains are resting in Bethany, beginning at 1:15 p.m. today, where a Celebration of Vigil will be held today at 7:30 p.m.. ROSE AGNES GOVEREAU (nee FLEURY) With deepest sorrow our family announces the passing of our beloved mother and "grammy" Rose Agnes Govereau on June 22, 2003. Rose was predeceased by her husband Russell Govereau; parents Mary-Ann and Emile Fleury, and her brother Leonard Fleury. Rose leaves to mourn her children, Emile (Joanne) Fleury, Maria (Humberto) Requeima, Russell (Shannon) Govereau, and Susan Govereau (Mike Buchanan). She also leaves behind her 11 grandchildren, Kyle, James, Andrew, Amanda, Russell, Christal, Jessica, Kieran, Ricki, Randy, and Ryan. She will be greatly missed by her brothers, Kenneth (Lorna) Fleury and Chester (Delores) Fleury; her aunts, Nellie Dumas and Agnes Lundstrom, her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rose was born in Crane River, MB on March 7, 1935 and moved to Winnipeg in her mid-twenties. She spent her working years in the garment industry until she married her husband Russell in 1974. Rose's life evolved around her children before and after her husband's death in 1982. She was well known for her community service which included her many years at the Freight House Community Centre (CWCI). Her love for her children and community was evident in the commitment she showed to both. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for their care in Rose's final days. She will be greatly missed. The death of Mary "Maizie" McLewin, formerly of Ottawa and Windsor, Ontario, widow of Gordon McLewin, occurred peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John, New Brunswick, on Sunday, June 22, 2003. Mrs. McLewin was born in Ottawa, a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (MacDougald) St. James. She was predeceased by two sisters, Kathleen McCarthy and Isabella Doyle; and two grandsons. She is survived by two sons, Peter (Virginia) of Punta Gorda, Florida and David of Toronto; one daughter, Gail Higgins (Len) of Saint John; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren in Canada and the United States; and several nieces and nephews. Rested at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (506-634-1965) from where the funeral was held on Monday morning to St. Pius X Church where Mass of Christian Burial was con-celebrated by Rev. Paul Doucet and Rev. Patrick Coyne. Interment took place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

KIRKLAND, William James In loving memory of William James Kirkland, 87 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Friday, June 20th, 2003 at his residence. He had been a miner at Frood Mine having 37 years at Inco, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Inco Quarter Century Club. Always a determined man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Most recently, he was the president of the local "Men of Song Choir". He had been involved for many years in the Cadet Corps as an officer. He was strongly committed to the youth of the community and the value of the Cadet movement in their lives and often supported many young people through difficult times.
