ASHTON , Jean Ann (Nee Green) - Late of Regina, and formerly of Peterborough, Ontario, passed away at the Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at the age of 63 years. Predeceased by her parents Silas and Neletta; and one brother William. Jean is survived by her husband David; daughter Kim (Grant) Hoey; son Scot (Dawn); and one special grandson Daniel Scot, all of Regina; brother Robert (Patricia) Green; sisters Mary Elizabeth (Paul) Diffenderffer, Elaine (Bruce) Evans; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean leaves behind many dear friends in the Peterborough area, having worked as a Certified Medical Secretary at the Brookdale Family Clinic for many years. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave. Regina, SK. HERTEL, Loretta R.N. (nee Smart) 90 years, at Windsor, on May 16, 2002, peacefully joined her late husband Wilmer, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born in Ancaster, Ontario and formerly of Comber and Chatham. She brought her special gifts of unconditional love and eternal optimism to everyone she met. Faith, family, friends and nature were the cornerstones of her life. Her courage in facing her final chapter was an inspiration to all of us. MCKEEVER, James Lawrence, P. Eng., BASc, LL.D., retired Manager for Canadian General Electric, died Tuesday, May 14th, 2002 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, April 27, 1907, Larry lived a remarkably full and active life. An avid amateur naturalist, he and his wife Kay founded internationally recognized The Owl Foundation dedicated to the study, breeding, care, successful rehabilitation and release of owls. Through his 40 year career at Canadian General Electric, Larry rose through increasing levels of seniority to become responsible for the engineering, manufacturing, sales and finance of CGE’s Large Generator Business Section As a wildlife enthusiast, Larry served several times as a director of the Federation of Ontario Naturalists. He was President of the Peterborough Field Naturalists and was responsible for the first check-list of the birds of Peterborough County. Larry also contributed several articles relating to his interest in engineering and wildlife including a book entitled " A Dowry of Owls", a witty and humourous account of the adventures he and Kay experienced in establishing The Owl Foundation. Recognition of Larry’s accomplishments include: Honorary Doctors of Law from Brock and McMaster Universities; Conservation Award from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Citzenship Award from the Association of Professional Engineers. Larry is survived by his wife Kay McKeever C.M. L.L.D., his two children by his first wife, the late Carolyn Beatrice Sills, son Derek (Donella) and daughter Sheila (Mrs Roger Legon); four grandchildren, Darryl (Cathy) and Donella McKeever (Mrs. Rolly Skov), Skye (Sandra) and Wynn Legon, two great grand-daughters, Holly and Sheena McKeever; his step-son, Rod MacFadyen of Toronto. Private family interment; a memorial service will take place at a later date. CHARRON, Gérald M. The family announces with sorrow his death, Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Sudbury, at the age of 69 years. Son of the late Roméo Charron and of the late Lily-May Charron (née Létang). Beloved husband of Anita Charron (née Gouin) of Sudbury. Loving father of Monique LeFave (husband Wally) and Daniel all of Sudbury and Marc Charron (wife Monique) of Clarence Creek. Dear brother of Annette Levesque (husband Paul predeceased) of Sudbury, Aline Plouffe (husband Lucien predeceased) and Rita Lemieux (husband Arthur predeceased) both of Timmins. Predeceased by his brother Roland "Rolly" Charron. Lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Robert and Nicole LeFave and Stéphanie and Danick Charron. Sadly missed by Raymond and Yvonne Gouin of Sudbury, Roger and Lorraine Levesque of Onaping and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Charron was retired from Inco, having worked 37 years as a maintenance coordinator. Gérald’s first love was his family. He was an avid reader, golfer, bird watcher and enjoyed working in his garden and at his camp on Nepewassi Lake (Estaire). Gerry also had a unique sense of humour. The great care and attention he received from Laurentian Hospital’s 4th floor staff and especially Sylvia Primo-Beasley ensured that he spent his last days in comfort and peace. Elle était la belle-soeur de Robert Ouellet (feue Juliette Faucher), et Gaétan Ouellet (Denise Grégoire). Elle laisse également ses neveux et nièces et de nombreux autres parents et amis.
