Died at Providence Manor, in Kingston on Saturday, April 6, 2002 in her 97th year as she lived her life - quietly with grace and dignity, ever caring more about others than for herself. Benefiting most from this love and concern were sons Carl (Karen & Ron Sutherland; Kate Ray; David (killed on police duty 1977) & Dawna; Gordon; Deb and Paul Van Asseldonk) and Ron & Pat (Sharon & Dan Gibbs). Mother loved all her family but it was her great-grandchildren (Jennifer & Laura; Jillian & Allison; Tricia; Cameron & Lydian; Simon, Joshua, Jordan & Sarah; Erica & Kurtis) who put a twinkle in her eye and pleasure in her heart, She will be truly missed also by many others, especially Shirley, Ruth and the staff and friends at Providence Manor. Predeceased by her husband Gordon (1957) and her sisters Robbin, (twin) Alice and Muriel. The family will receive friends at the Robert J. Reid & Sons Funeral Home, 309 Johnson Street, (at Barrie Street), Kingston on Tuesday April 9 for one hour prior to the funeral service which wil be held in "The Chapel on The Corner" at 2 p.m. Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery. Loving sister of Kyle MacKenzie and Janna Ainsley of Orleans, ON. Dearest grand- daughter of Patricia (Gadsby) and the late Wilfred Ryan of New Liskeard, ON and of Daphne O. (Franks) and Arthur W. Beecham of Haileybury, ON and great-granddaughter of the late Beryl O. (Fodisch) Franks and Robert L. and Bridget Franks of Latchford, ON. Dear niece of D'Arcy and Lori Ryan, Sally Ryan and Ken Paton, Colleen Ryan and Tony Den Otter, Kathy Ryan, G. Duff and Melanie Ryan and Kelly Ryan and Debbie Buzzell and Bryan and Heather Beecham. Beloved cousin of Dylan, Jake, Kaley, Riley, John, Thomas, Jack and Nash; sadly missed by many other cousins, great uncles, great aunts and friends. This wonderful, calm, intelligent little person was, without warning, taken from us by a sudden brain disorder. Although she spent only a short time here with us, she deeply touched the lives of her family and friends. She was our sunshine and the memory of this small angel will be with us forever. D'Arcy was an organ donor and the lives of a number of children have been changed by her gift to them. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 8, 2002 at the Rideau Park United Church at 11 a.m. An interment in an Ottawa area cemetery will follow in the summer. Loving mother of Terry (Bev) of Pembroke, Brian (Leona) of Unionville, Kevin (Joan) of Nepean, Maureen Radley-Walters (Grant) of Pembroke, and Michael (Anne) of Kanata. Caring grandmother of Lisa (Matthew) Bradley, David (Jill), Sandy (Manuel) deSousa, Debbie (Carlos) Mendiola, Bradley (Helen), Scott (Lori), Patti (Scott), Alison (Scott), Elizabeth, Mark, Ryan and Meghan. Predeceased by parents Peter and Margaret Closs (nee Majoury), and by brothers Henry, Peter, Joseph and Charles Closs, and by sisters Margaret Barr, Marceline Mulvihill, Annie Londeau, Mary Gorra (Kubiseski) and Regina Kluke. Also survived by 8 loving great-grandchildren. Erma earned her R.N. at the Ontario Hospital School of Nursing, Brockville in 1939. During her Nursing Course she received, each year, the highest marks in her class, and upon writing her registration examination, she received the award for the highest marks in the province of Ontario. She worked for many years as a nurse and later as an assistant director and clinical instructor in the course for registered nursing assistants at the St. Vincent De Paul Hospital, Brockville. Of Richmond, formerly of Burlington, Ontario, died on Friday, March 29, 2002 at the Ottawa Heart Institute as a result of Sudden Cardiac Death. He was in his 54th year. Sister Maxine, Robert and Sidonia, Ron and Jackie, Julie and Wayne Mackey, and Susie and John Smuckavich, uncle of Scott, Luke, Stephanie, Eric, Jennifer, Patrick and Liam. Loved and admired by his family and extended family, Gary will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Gary's career with the Public Service spanned 30 years. Beginning in 1971 with the Unemployment Insurance Commission, Gary worked for several ministries, including Science & Technology, Industry Canada and the Privy Council Office. Highly respected in his field, Gary has held a variety of management positions, most recently as Assistant Secretary, Human Resources Management Division, at the Treasury Board Secretariat. (nee Morris) In loving memory of a wonderful woman, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who passed away peacefully on April 3, 2002, two weeks after her 69th birthday. Deeply missed by children Mignon (Neil), Iris (Larry), Lisa (Manuel), Derek (Shelley) and grandchildren, Rikki, Tegan, Rian, Danielle, Jasmine, Anna-Marie, Nicolas, Alexis and remembered by Gerhard. Cherished by her sisters Rita Forestell (Jim), Terry Olson (John), Norma Pritchard and niece of Sister Aurella Leblanc. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their children. Mom was an active member of the Gloucester Senior Centre and sang in the Centre's Songsters Choir along with the St. Ignatius Church Choir.
