Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Calgary, Alberta, on Monday, November 12, 2001. He was predeceased by beloved wife Rosie (Melnyk) in 1993 and is survived by son Sandy (Carole) and granddaughters Shauna and Laura. Tom was born in Edmonton in 1923. He was raised and educated there and in Alloa, Scotland. After finishing school and a stint on the Alaska Highway, he served in the RCN 1942-45. After the war he worked for the Department Northern Affairs in Yellowknife and Ottawa as Chief Mining Recorder for the North. He finished off his professional career as a Director for the National Museums of Canada. In retirement, Tom and Rose lived in Elk Point, Alberta, Victoria, El Centro, California and Calgary. At Tom's request, there will be no funeral service. Donations can be made in Tom's name to CNIB, 15 Colonel Baker Place, N.E. Calgary. Sterling Hall Lifetime member Bell Street United Church, long time member Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club and former Assistant Manager of Real Estate & Mortgages at Canada Trust Peacefully went to heaven, with a multitude of angels on Thursday, November 15, 2001 in his 85th year. Cherished husband of Dorothy (Tasse) married 61 years. Beloved father of John (Patti) of Florida and Marilyn Brockington. Adored "Pop" grandfather of Micheline, Danielle, Angela of Florida and Riley and Joshua. Great-grandfather of Anthony, Trevor, Connor, Nicole and Caprice. The family enjoyed the cottage at Constance Bay for 41 years. Sy will be remembered for his patience, kindness, generosity, great sense of humour and his brilliant mind. Dad's philosophy on life was "we are here on earth to help one another". He was an avid golfer and was proud to have achieved 3 holes in 1. Mom and dad enjoyed a home in Pinellas Park, Florida for 19 winters. W.R.C.N.S. W.W. II Peacefully in Brockville General Hospital on Thursday, November 15, 2001; the former Eleanor Frances Claire Chinn at the age of 75 years. Beloved wife of the late Donovan Clement Filewod with whom she shared a voyage that lasted 53 years. Proud mother and grandmother of Garrick and his daughters Amelia and Alison; Alan and his son Clement; Diana and her children Hugh, Julie and Ruth; daughter-in-law Eleanor Crowder and her sons Niall and Benjamin Filewod and her husband Bernd Esche and his children Martin and Eleanor. Also survived by her sister Marilyn Kay of Toronto and her family, and by her aunt Claire Hodgens of Thornhill. Predeceased by her third son Ian, and an infant son Lawrence. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Sunday. and on Monday after 12 noon. On Wednesday, November 14, 2001 in her 80th year. A huge hole is left in our hearts. She fought her way through two leg amputations and several serious illnesses. Sylvia is predeceased by her husband Roger, her brothers Ronald (Helen) Ayotte, Weldon (Dorothy) Ayotte, and her sisters Gloria, Doreen (Waldo) Levac and Audrey (Harold) Walker. She is survived by her children Darlene (Rod) Nickel, Terry (Sharon) Sauve, Gordon (Mitch) Steals and Gail (Don) Cole. She was Nanny to eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Shirley (Peter) Bellefeuille and her brother Barry (Judy) Ayotte. Sylvia was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Sens, Blue Jays, Lynx and 67's. She was thrilled that Ottawa was getting a CFL team again. died peacefully on November 13, 2001. She will be remembered with love by her husband Hugh, their three sons Peter, Richard, Todd and daughter Barbara, their daughters-in-law Joan, Carol and Marie-Louise and grandchildren Colin, Emily, Kathleen, Kevin, Mitchel and Scott. Mary is survived by her two brothers, Peter and John Gray, their wives and four children. Born and raised in Southern Ontario, Mary graduated from Ontario Teachers' College and after working for several years in Ontario, volunteered to join the first group of Canadian teachers to travel overseas to teach the children of Canadian military personnel of NATO. She married there and over the next forty years experienced the joys and challenges of being a wife, mother and grandmother during tours in Europe, Canada and the United States. With her children grown, Mary returned to education and after a short stint teaching English as a second language in an adult education program, she was asked to assist in developing a specialized program for mental health patients at the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Mary's flare for design and style, her strength of character, integrity, loyalty and sense of commitment to her friends, family and pursuits made her a genuine beauty to all those she touched in her lifetime. Our special thanks to Rozane Brisotto and Joy Richards who made it possible for Mary to stay at home as long as she did, and to the staff at Westside Care Centre who cared for her when we were no longer able. Thank you for recognizing in her the dignity and grace that we have always known and giving us the peace of mind we needed to carry on about our lives. Memorial services will be held at the Kelly Funeral Home, 2313 Carling Avenue in Ottawa, ON on Wednesday, November 21st, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. your support of individauls and families affected by Alzheimer's Disease is encouraged by the family.
